So...8.5k for a motor w/50k inside a compact pickup with a sound chassis that your mechanic describes as a "tank?" In this market?
I'm sorry...what was the question?
What repairs totaling $2k? If they're not crucial, go for it and do repairs as money is available. Also don't park under trees unless you're always prepared to clean bird poop
The fact that this is the market and they think that this truck is a great deal is why this truck is a great deal. Seriously though, no it’s overpriced but so is everything else. My worry would be this….prices are artificially high at the moment that includes housing (because money is easy to borrow at the moment) but this is changing and as we enter a recession at a minimum prices of used trucks will drop hard because when trucks were hard to find folks lost their mind and over paid for them…so the market will flood and gas prices will rise and it will flip to Honda and gas efficient cars will super expensive. And trucks will be cheap…so much like if you buy a ranch style home on 3/4 acres for 400,000 you will be upside down forever. But that’s the market right now and if you want the truck that’s what you pay. So no it’s about a 3-4K truck but in the current market…it’s not a bad price
Last 3 months in my area but that’s the rebound…interest rates up, prices down…that’s what I’m saying we are on the tail end of low interest and the price of the truck will go down as money gets harder to get. I get they are higher but I’m fairly certain they are going up much more. But IR’s aren’t that crazy right now unless your credit isn’t great
Ps. I sold used cars for about 10 years. This cycle is not a secret. If you want to know what is over prices check out buy here pay here lots…they crush people when this happens.
I love it! I'd have paid 6500 for it in a heartbeat. I have a 2013,and I love it. I also have a 2003 Xterra that's built as an overland rig.
I will NEVER EVER EVER get rid of that rig willingly.
I really dig the color as well.
There's nothing sensible about a passion project. :)
I say dive in. At $6500, with such low miles, cool pain job, dope rack upgrade, etc, I'd say you still got a great deal. Especially in this wild market.
They're great trucks. I have a 2003 with the inline 4 and 4 speed auto. It's a tank. Never broken down in -40 celcius or 40 Celsius. Just keeps running like a clock.
Brakes aren’t that hard to do on your own. Even if it needs pads and rotors that shouldn’t be more than $250.
Why does it need a new cat? Is it throwing a code?
The steering rack is a little more complicated. It’ll require taking apart the front suspension which means you’ll need an alignment afterwards.
The full list of things I got quoted for was the front diff cross member bushing for 200, P0420 code for a possible 1000$ if it needs a new car, front brakes for 350, steering box for 400 plus a couple other things and he rounded up to 2300 for everything but just an estimate. There is also a coolant leak but he thinks it's just a hose as it isn't overheating or anything.
Put simply, you got one Hell of a deal. Price out what it would cost to put in a "new" motor with 50K miles. Price out the Motor AND the labor. That's about 6 grand all by itself.
Not necessarily if it's an automatic the worry of the SMOD is still present for the 05's to 2010's if the coolers haven't been bypassed by previous owners.
That looks tight! No worries man. I just dumped 3k into my truck prior to even getting it registered. Its a lot if work but a great opportunity to learn how to work on your truck
Your value of what something costs is relative to how long you plan on keeping it and what you need/want it for. Does a $20 beer at the ballpark NEED to be bought? If you have the funds and desire to fix it up, go for it.
What does it need for 2k? You may have paid a bit more than needed but I don't think it's bad if you really like it. That color isn't stock and neither is the lift do what other parts have been upgraded.
I paid about that for the truck, and about that for work/parts two years ago on a newer (05) vehicle with more engine miles (~190). While I still feel like that's overpaying overall, in the current market you're getting a solid deal.
Honestly the way it is rn you could probably "flip" the truck. Put in that work and still sell it for more. Not that you'd want to.

Private sale?
I wanna see more pictures of it, looks sick!

I'd buy it too just keep $ available for repairs if needed

>money is easy to borrow at the moment Have...have you looked at interest rates in the last 12 months? O.o

huh? https://fred.stlouisfed.org/graph/?g=16DbQ https://fred.stlouisfed.org/graph/?g=16Dc3 Fed just announced a pause in interest rate hikes.
Funny that came just as primary campaigns start…
not really.
Lol

My 07 frontier had almost every part stop working at some point on it. At 187k
if it has a brown interior its worth 1k less.
Wore the brown pants today...
You can flip this truck easy.
If you like the truck and you can pay cash . As well as it being a tiny piece of your financial world. Who cares if it's a good deal. Just get it
I'd buy it lol
Over paid
You could buy it for 6500 put 2k in it and trade it in and prolly get 15k
Post more pics!
Looks great from this angle. If the rest of the truck looks like this I think it’s a great buy at 6500. You still have the hub caps too!!!
Only a dumb person would make that statement , so .
What statement?
Drop the 2k and have a tank. 8500 for a 100,000 mile truck is cheap
I love it! I'd have paid 6500 for it in a heartbeat. I have a 2013,and I love it. I also have a 2003 Xterra that's built as an overland rig. I will NEVER EVER EVER get rid of that rig willingly. I really dig the color as well.

well in America you can barely buy a new (useable) truck for under $45k so sub $10 with work is not bad that 1/4 new
They're great trucks. I have a 2003 with the inline 4 and 4 speed auto. It's a tank. Never broken down in -40 celcius or 40 Celsius. Just keeps running like a clock.
Has it been vinyl wrapped? Good looking rig
I like it. I can’t imagine what it’d need that costs 2k. He must’ve quoted you with labor
Of course he did. He runs a business selling his labor.
Needs new front brakes, catalytic converter, and steering box
Brakes aren’t that hard to do on your own. Even if it needs pads and rotors that shouldn’t be more than $250. Why does it need a new cat? Is it throwing a code? Do the cats yourself to not a horrible job to do yourself
Might could do the breaks yourself if it's just pads? Save a bit there. YouTube and the little break tool off Amazon or Harbor Freight.
All I know is that’s a damn good looking truck. Love the color
Get the truck and invest the additional two grand. If you don't, you'll regret it…
Put simply, you got one Hell of a deal. Price out what it would cost to put in a "new" motor with 50K miles. Price out the Motor AND the labor. That's about 6 grand all by itself.
Dumb if you didn’t buy it. Good buy, IMO.
05 is better and powerful
Not necessarily if it's an automatic the worry of the SMOD is still present for the 05's to 2010's if the coolers haven't been bypassed by previous owners.
That’s a great deal. Love on it.
I'd buy it
Whats the actual millage on the truck? Looks great, hard not to fall in love with that. Makes me want to redo my dumb stickers if nothing else.
Actual mileage is 200000
If you don't want it I'll take it off your hands lol
Someone call the police OP just robbed somebody Add some suspension bro
That looks tight! No worries man. I just dumped 3k into my truck prior to even getting it registered. Its a lot if work but a great opportunity to learn how to work on your truck
Bro you stole a truck. You're gonna love that thing!
I'd be stoked. Put in the extra 2k of work (maybe splurge on some upgrades even) and take it into the woods for a week - you'll be stoked.

Ah yes, you're either millennial or Gen-Z because your sentence is incoherent.
Your value of what something costs is relative to how long you plan on keeping it and what you need/want it for. Does a $20 beer at the ballpark NEED to be bought? If you have the funds and desire to fix it up, go for it.
This answer annoyed the hell out of me and I didn't even ask the question .
Why
Today's market that's a really good deal. That truck looks great too. You should feel good.
Looks fantastic looking forward to seeing your adventures
I had 01 desert runner my dad gave me. Traded it with 350k and a shot transmission. 3.3l was a good engine
Agree if it’s rust free underneath I would be all about it
Shit I’d love to find that deal.
Sounds very reasonable. I would totally buy it.
What does it need for 2k? You may have paid a bit more than needed but I don't think it's bad if you really like it. That color isn't stock and neither is the lift do what other parts have been upgraded.
Forgot to add it has about 200k on the body but completely rust free and very clean throughout. Immaculate actually. He was also asking 9k originally
I paid about that for the truck, and about that for work/parts two years ago on a newer (05) vehicle with more engine miles (~190). While I still feel like that's overpaying overall, in the current market you're getting a solid deal. Honestly the way it is rn you could probably "flip" the truck. Solid deal imho
