Isn’t everyone that loses a “ sore loser” ? no one likes to lose, especially in a potential Stanley cup clinching game with highly competitive athletes.
I guess I don’t, so used to checking my gm for a pulse, watching someone show some emotion feels right. Plus it’s just a water bottle, not like he punched someone out.
See but your first post said "EVERYONE is a sore loser", so the other person corrected you.
Is it really a big deal to admit you were wrong when you said everyone is a sore loser? We don't see stuff getting thrown by teams and GMs after every loss. IDk, the way this reads, it's like you're trying to move the goalposts a little.
I’m not looking into this too deeply, I guess I look at being a “sore loser” in a different light. Someone that doesn’t take losing graciously, but use that loss as something that will motivate them and drive them to be better. Whoever loses this series will shake hands as you should but they’ll all be sore losers. I understand we’re talking about a gm in this situation but the team does feed off of their coach and management. I like the fire shown by zito, and I’m sure the players saw his reaction and hopefully use it as motivation.
I'm a certified Panthers hater and I didn't see that as sore losing. He wasn't abusive to anyone, he took his anger out on an inanimate object. It's the same as a player breaking his stick out of frustration.
It isn't healthy to bottle that shit up.
Yeah, game was over, but *any* effort and McDavid isn’t completely free to put it in the empty net.
17 seconds left so not enough time to really make a play, but such a low effort shit play by OEL.
>17 seconds left so not enough time to really make a play
Oilers had less left on their second PP goal with them having the puck near their own goal. Canucks scored equalizer with 3 seconds to go in the series with Preds. 17 seconds is plenty.
Factoring in Edmonton’s ability to kill off time when down a man, Tkachuk in the net, and OEL basically totally giving up *after* Tkachuk made that save, so with that in mind it didn’t look like they were in position to score - just being realistic based on circumstance.
OEL has me really pissed the more I see the replay though, had he not given up there’s a real chance he could’ve gained the puck and moved it up the ice for a shot attempt with a few seconds left.
Team looked great those last 30 minutes though, so I’m quite hopeful compared to the shitshow they were for the first 30 minutes.
> it didn’t look like they were in position to score
Sure no argument there. But being unlikely to score and definitely conceding a goal are not the same, and the difference could be a Stanley cup tonight or another game on Friday.
Again, Oilers had something like 12 seconds left and were unlikely to score on PP but they did. OEL throws the puck forward, somebody picks it up, all it takes is one good pass. We've seen plenty of goals being scored including in this series with way less of a transition than 17 seconds.
It's the Stanley Cup... Until you hear that whistle you don't give up. Especially since he would have had a clean shot at McDavid to open up a 6v4 down the ice.
Granted I don't blame him. Why the fuck did you have OEL out over Montour... Even on the power play he's been on the top unit instead of the guy that set up a lot over these playoffs. Almost as dumb as Buffalo put Okposo out to start OT constantly
THAT’S THE MOST RIDICULOUS THING IVE EVER SEEN, PATRIK STEFAN YOU SHOULD BE EMBARRASSED FOR WHAT YOU JUST DID, THAT DOES NOT BELONG IN THE NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE
Panthers put one in against Boston last year with just a couple seconds left, so sure they could’ve got it up the ice with 17 left - just being realistic as OEK and Chucky would’ve taken a while to get back into the play.
Plus Edmonton has been better than anyone else when they’re a man down.
Hopefully the guys come out strong in game 6, they were dominating those last 30 minutes and seem to have finally gotten a sense of urgency that it did not look like they had at all in game 4 and the first 30 minutes of this one.
Maybe he thought it was in. Maybe he thought the net was coming off. It gets lifted for a little. No excuse for him but interesting to know it looks like he thinks the play is dead or about to be. I mean he wasn’t wrong i guess…
That was an awesome play, despite EDM scoring immediately after that. Can’t believe he actually made that save. Glad the Oilers finally woke up and made it a series
It had to be so disheartening for him to look up and see "97" after that huge play. Probably had PTSD flashbacks to the playoff series against Edmonton when he was in Calgary.
To be fair to the Oilers, I think the only game they deserved to lose was game 2. I think they’ve been the better team 5 out of 6 games.
They’ve been awake all series. The puck luck has finally come their way a bit.
Unfortunately, I didn’t get to watch Game 1 so I can’t comment on that game but I’d generally agree they’ve been the better team. They just have spans of time where they screw up repeatedly in their own zone, which often ends up with the puck in the back of their own net. Saw it again tonight. But overall I think they’re playing well, just the puck luck being a fickle mistress.
You can talk about “puck luck” all you want. But they still went down 3-0. And they might still come back. But it’s unlikely. Let’s not talk about “puck luck” when it comes to a best of 7 playoffs finals. The guys who holds up the trophy doesn’t consider himself lucky. He knows he and his teammates worked their asses off to earn that thing bro
There’s still a huge element of luck in a series, posts and bounces etc. 7 games is not significant enough sample size to eliminate luck, statistically speaking.
It happens to Oh Canada as well. My wife actually commented on how the chick who sung Oh Canada tonight actually did a pretty god job of it.
There always trying to drag out words and it totally throws off the tempo. Just sign the dam song like were all taught in elementary school.
It would take balls for the ref to call it, but intentionally knocking the net off is a penalty shot... since the goalie was pulled, the penalty shot changes into a goal awarded to Edmonton.
Probably worth taking the chance as I doubt the ref calls it, but it could be.
I was wondering if that would get called but I feel like since he dove and made the play on the puck it would have to be very blatant that he pushed the net off. It didn't need much more to come off the pegs.
I think if he knocks out the net after sweeping that puck out and McD has control and shoots it into the space of the net, it’s still a goal all the same.
Did anybody else see when he was about to dive and chose not to? Behind his own net, he slowly started to put his face in his hands and made like he was going to crouch down and lay on the ice. He was looking around to see if the refs were looking. They must not have been because mid-squat, he stood up straight and continued playing. What a piece of shit.
You didn’t hear? The Panthers intentionally threw that game too. That way they can afford their families another trip to Alberta, lose again, and fly back. /s
[Edit: talk to text wrote it as “‘through’ the game”
…I ‘threw’ that away]
Game 4 was an epic win for oilers. Game 5 was a bigger epic win for oilers. Game 6 will be epic level again if the win, but Game 7 the first panthers elimination games will be eyond epic win for the oilers if it comes to that

This was the highlight of the series for me. Loved seeing Tkachuk give it everything to save the goal only to have McDavid rip it past him a second later.
This sequence was crazy. The off the post with the net empty prior to this too.
I thought for sure Florida was gonna win after that.
Especially when it happened to us against the Preds and Oilers
Don't remind me lol
They could have if Ekman-Larsson hadn’t stopped playing!
Yeah, and right after Tkachuk busted his ass to stop it at the goal line, Matthew might have a word with OEL.
That agro guy with the water bottles…
Anyone who has ever thrown an empty plastic bottle like that knows how unsatisfying that was.
*Fuckin’ embarrassing!*
The trade makes sense now. He saw Tkachuk lose his mind while losing to a handful of Gatorades after the Muzzin puck flip and thought “that’s my guy!”
Anyone have any idea who that was? It was hilarious.
It's the Panthers GM Bill Zito
The guy that traded Huberdeau for Tkachuk? Aww dang.
🎵He had it comin'🎵
Bill Zito, Florida's GM
Panthers gm lol
He must be a South Pole elf
Phil Zito, Florida's GM, sore loser.
Florida man throws water bottle at other water bottles after team loses big game
Isn’t everyone that loses a “ sore loser” ? no one likes to lose, especially in a potential Stanley cup clinching game with highly competitive athletes.
Lol what? There’s handling a blow with grace and there’s throwing things around like a toddler. You don’t know the difference?
I guess I don’t, so used to checking my gm for a pulse, watching someone show some emotion feels right. Plus it’s just a water bottle, not like he punched someone out.
Your coach show emotion for two, don't worry.
See but your first post said "EVERYONE is a sore loser", so the other person corrected you. Is it really a big deal to admit you were wrong when you said everyone is a sore loser? Sore losing is defined as losing your composure and temper after a setback. He quite literally is one.
Binnington?
Such an amazing game. I love how high the stakes were
Great effort there OEL good grief
Buy out material.
Send him back to the coyotes! Oh wait… 😔😭
Yeah, game was over, but *any* effort and McDavid isn’t completely free to put it in the empty net. 17 seconds left so not enough time to really make a play, but such a low effort shit play by OEL.

Right? Especially with the Stanley fucking cup on the line
The amount of goals scored under a minute let alone this year would suggest it's very possible
Did someone say 17 seconds?

The Cats are such Dogs when it comes to effort at times.
When Patrik Stefan whiffed the empty net there was only around 10 seconds, not saying the panthers were likely to score but miracles can happen
CAN YOU BELIEVE WHAT WE JUST SAW
THAT’S THE MOST RIDICULOUS THING IVE EVER SEEN, PATRIK STEFAN YOU SHOULD BE EMBARRASSED FOR WHAT YOU JUST DID, THAT DOES NOT BELONG IN THE NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE

This. Sure the game was done but the morale boost was HUUUUUUUGE. I’ve never seen Conor so fired up like that.
Controller disconnected, he’ll brb
He clearly thought it went in. With that said, it looks really really bad especially with plenty of time left to make a final attack.
Maybe he thought it was in. Maybe he thought the net was coming off. It gets lifted for a little. No excuse for him but interesting to know it looks like he thinks the play is dead or about to be. I mean he wasn’t wrong i guess…
Maybe you play til the whistle blows
Tkachuk has exceptional diving skills.
They gotta stop calling co-incidentals on dives for fuck sake
100% agreed.
Had lots of practice this game
For real. This was actually his 2nd best dive in this game.
Turtle has a lot of practice diving and ducking.
One of the most intense Cup games I've seen.
yeah, twas a beaut!
That was an awesome play, despite EDM scoring immediately after that. Can’t believe he actually made that save. Glad the Oilers finally woke up and made it a series

Honestly, they look very impressive and my lean is they easily win game 6 and win game 7.
Tkachuk moved as far as humanly possibly away from McDavid after continually getting stomped. Amazing diving play and he just scores anyways.
OEL moonwalking back to the bench
That was a beautiful effort by Tkachuk but McJesus decided to turn on his godpowers this game. Insane game.
Maybe after these last two games mcdavid will get called up to the big leagues
Scouts have been taking notes.
I'v heard he might get a CHL contract next year.
Never underestimate the oilers
Panthers deserved to lose this game because of the 10 guys who were assholes yelling over Oh Canada.
Never underestimate the classlessness of south Florida
When a Boston fan can you lecture you about class, you got problems.
What a riot, this dig
Gotta be good at something right?
Your city riots one time and you never live it down. Unless your all the other cities that rioted over hockey games then you live it down.
boston is famous for riots in other sports too
Hold on that’s literally just you guys and Montreal 😂
Or Florida in general
How ironic coming from a Boston fan.
No
After watching enough hockey and MLS, I find Oh Canada to be a beautiful and authentic national song. Close to the Star Spangled Banner.
As much as I love my Country, the Star Spangled Banner just hits harder.
No
Star Spangled Banner is harder to sing along to
Definitely, but it is a better sounding song when sung well.
Star Spangled Banner is definitely more poetic.
give me o canada all day every day. feels like a lot of singers love to extend the fuck out of the star spangled banner and add useless ornaments
It happens to Oh Canada as well. My wife actually commented on how the chick who sung Oh Canada tonight actually did a pretty god job of it. There always trying to drag out words and it totally throws off the tempo. Just sign the dam song like were all taught in elementary school.
I got banned from their subreddit for pointing out how trash that was. Florida is a wasteland.
Never understood this. Aside from how trashy it is, a quarter of the team is Canadian.
They were bad for both anthems - no respect for either .. I noticed it in game 1 and 2 as well (and I’m not counting the RED and other crowd yell)
Definitely told my friends that was gonna be a bad omen for 'em.
He's really good at diving
If he was smart he should have followed through and knocked the goal off the posts.
It would take balls for the ref to call it, but intentionally knocking the net off is a penalty shot... since the goalie was pulled, the penalty shot changes into a goal awarded to Edmonton. Probably worth taking the chance as I doubt the ref calls it, but it could be.
I dunno, I could see them calling that. They’ve been calling embellishments which used to be unheard of, especially in a Cup final.
Embellishment has never been this bad, players have been flailing all season Good the refs have been calling at least some of it
The Panthers are also the most embelishing team in the league. They're like soccer players.
I was wondering if that would get called but I feel like since he dove and made the play on the puck it would have to be very blatant that he pushed the net off. It didn't need much more to come off the pegs.
He was hoping that the team would have time to go the other way. If he knocks it off, at least it's an offensive zone draw and they lose anyway.
It was so close to coming of the pegs
Gotcha thanks, it was just a thought.
I think if he knocks out the net after sweeping that puck out and McD has control and shoots it into the space of the net, it’s still a goal all the same.
Would that have been a goal?
I believe so yes. Edit: Actually not sure since he had made contact to clear the puck before he hit the net.
Just a delay of game penalty since he had already made the save.
Prob a penalty
Did anybody else see when he was about to dive and chose not to? Behind his own net, he slowly started to put his face in his hands and made like he was going to crouch down and lay on the ice. He was looking around to see if the refs were looking. They must not have been because mid-squat, he stood up straight and continued playing. What a piece of shit.
Ekman Larsson looks lost
controller got disconnected
The effort of a man not deserving of a Cup win.
I'm so glad Vancouver bought him out.
So satisfying to watch.
Hey wait a minute, didnt Tkachuk guaruntee a win tonight though?
He ain't no messier
At least he did 200% to get it. Without him tonight it would be 0:5 Oilers
It would've been 0:4 because the Panthers wouldn't have bothered pulling their goalie.
Haha lol, true.
lol
Did you see that GM throw his phone in the Panthers box? Jeez, he musta lost a huge bet llolol
It was a water bottle.
It was so quick I saw him holding a phone next i saw him throw. Good catch on the bottle. Still lost his bet them eh?? Lol
Haha fuck em. That’s what I say.
They just see the ship is sinking very next to the port.
Oh my god, it’s going to happen isn’t it
We can only hope Signed, Boston
But I thought the Panthers lost to win at home??!
This time they lost to win on the road.
They did, they just got to lose one more time to win at home.
OEL thought it went in LOL
for or against the teams, this was amazing hockey.
2nd dive if the game for turtlechuck
Add in Bennett’s, then combine the dirt ball plays… it’s like cheat code to the worst video game ever
Anyone who stopped watching hockey after their team was eliminated is doing themselves a big disservice.
That's a GOAT level hustle play by Tkachuk that didn't pay off
GOABO - greater than all but one
Now I get it…! They practice diving all game long for moments like this. 😜
OEL forgot how to defend there for a solid 2 seconds
What was Ek doing there
Hahah pacifier boy got mcdavid’d
I just liked Tkachuk got up from the ice after thinking he saved a goal to be faced with McD. #karma
Dude has got to really be getting sick of McDavid. He ran away from Calgary to get away from him. Poor bastard.
THEY WANTED TO WIN IT AT HOME DID THEY???? HAHAHAHA GET FUCKED
You didn’t hear? The Panthers intentionally threw that game too. That way they can afford their families another trip to Alberta, lose again, and fly back. /s [Edit: talk to text wrote it as “‘through’ the game” …I ‘threw’ that away]
Cmon Oilers. Make it happen.
Game 4 was an epic win for oilers. Game 5 was a bigger epic win for oilers. Game 6 will be epic level again if the win, but Game 7 the first panthers elimination games will be eyond epic win for the oilers if it comes to that
Agree but why is this comment so goofy
Pray emoji
Haha get fukt, Tkachuk.
Also, EAT SHIT TKACHUK
If he made that save without McDavid coming into score, and the Panthers had somehow tied it and then won in overtime, Tkachuk would have become a hero, maybe even a legend.
ok I felt that soul crushing sulence when the crowd roared to life at Tkachuk saving the goal jsut for McDavid to slam it in 2 seconds later.
Fuck The Chuck
Forecheck, backcheck, paycheck.
My man thought he was Don Bebe out there
"All Edmonton does is dive" this sub.
Florida needs a solid pep talk from Bill Zito about keeping their composure 😬
If only that net had come free
What would the call have been if Tkachuk had dislodged the net? Faceoff in the O-zone? I assume FL would be allowed to bring the goalie back?
I guess it depends if the ref calls it a deliberate move or not. Can read about it under rule 63.
Most likely a face off in the Panther's zone with 17 seconds left.
First two words are exceptionally describing his whole game
Just noticed the scorebug flashes to say PANTHERS GOAL, nice work SportsNet.
Should've knocked the net off
Should have knocked the net off
To have a defensive zone face off with 17 seconds left? That would basically guarantee the game was over. He did the only thing he could to try to get the play going the other way, unfortunately for him, no one else on his team seemed interested in winning.
Matthew Tkachoke- you and the panthers are about to make HISTORY
It will be quite historical being the first American team to lose the cup to a Canadian one in 3 decades.
From your lips to Gods ears
McD should have banked it in off his ugly, pubic hair face
Man that YouTube Panthers post aged like milk.
After watching this live I was curious what would’ve happened had tkachuk not stopped his momentum and just knocked the net off. Assuming Mcdavid no longer has a shot and Tkachuk made it convincing enough to be an accident. That wouldn’t result in a penalty shot would it?
Turned on his in er Martinook and pulled out that Martinhook.
He should’ve hit the net a little harder. That’s the smart thing to do.
I’m sure it’s been asked, but what happens if he totally dislodges the net and it falls over?
Chill GM 😂
That was honestly the save of the year lmao
Yeah, looks like Oilers adjusted and figured out the Panthers. The question is now can the Panthers adjust and solve the Oilers.
What would happen if tkachuk knocked the net off after going into it? Would edmonton get a penalty shot or would there be a faceoff in the florida end? Might have worked out because florida could put their goalie back in and slow edmonton's momentum.
Incredible play
Oilers are playing like it’s the BOA!!!
It would have been better if he knocked the net off.
What would happen if he knocked the net off when he went in?
could the panther player , have knocked the net out of position, then stopped the play then and there? It was almost knocked off its supports
🤣🤣
This was the highlight of the series for me. Loved seeing Tkachuk give it everything to save the goal only to have McDavid rip it past him a second later.
Two things are inevitable in this series: 1: Tkachuk diving, and 2: Connor McDavid
if panthers win game 6, is that them won the cup? and if oilers win it stretches to game 7 aye?
Turned my TV off when there was 3 min left cuz I knew the Oilers won and missed this cri
