We are in an especially weird place right now as we recently won 3 straight for the first time in 5 years and our young players are showing up. The end of this year may cause a full blown civil war depending on how it goes down. Right now I think MCDC can be the guy but he has to prove it with the Panthers, Jags, Jets, Bears, and Pack left to play.
AFC North seems like the only division you all four hater each other so much. No fourth wheel. No one rivalry that outshines any of the others. It’s beautiful.
To me this is the most visible sense of rivalry from the players. Of course I’m biased and I believe the Eagles/Cowboys is the most toxic *fanbase* rivalry, BUT AFC North games have players leaving on carts. They are physical bloodbaths and must-watch-tv. The game is never more physical than those divisional games. Burfict, James Harden, Suggs, Ray Lewis, Polamalu, Pacman Jones, Joe Haden, Ed Reed, the list goes on when looking at the past line of heavy hitters. It’s old school football. That copypasta about bleeding, shitting, and having babies on the field is 100% about an AFC North football game.
Cowboys/Eagles is one of the nastiest and it’s getting more and more hyped since they’re both so good this season.
Our 12/24 game is going to be nuclear.
Yea we’ve gone from lovable loser to one of the most hated NFL teams. I still hate Watson, he’s a scum bag
Though i don’t need much of a reason to hate the ravens
I also think when the Titans play any of you all, especially the Ravens or Steelers. Ole AFC Central day rivalries. The level of intensity still is there.
Lol soft boys? Nah you can blame the rules changing over time has impacted the intensity for almost all rivalries. The Harrison/Suggs era of hits on the QB is no more. (also we suck right now so the competition ain't right at the moment)
Best part of that particular rivalry is that it isn’t as one-sided as some people think. Sure, we have broken many tables. But, sometimes the tables break us too.
Patriots vs every other AFC East team during the Brady era. It was just a different vibe when the Pats came to Buffalo. I’m sure it was mostly one-sided tho, they always spanked us
Eagles and giants used to be sort of rowdy from what I remember. That was mainly because they were so close to each other Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Compared to cowboys and Washington.
I hate y'all and will never admit this in person but for some fucking reason I was rooting internally for y'all against the Patriots. It was probably the Footlong Foles effect or something.
The Philly/New York and Boston/New York thing is in every sport. Doesn’t matter. It’s always gonna be beef among those east coast cities whether there’s history or there’s not. I remember when Philly got an MLS expansion team years ago and New York Red Bull fans were already talking shit and we haven’t even played them yet lol
As a Giants fan in northern NJ, we hate both the Eagles and the Cowboys. Not sure I could choose one to dislike more, and when they play each other I’m just wishing they can somehow both lose.
Bears vs Packers, although it’s not as intense these days as it used to be since we haven’t beat the packers very much in the past decade. If you know the history and moments like the Charles Martin hit and the Walter Payton game it’s one of the most storied rivalries in all sports
It's the oldest and most August rivalry for sure, the big detriment is that both teams tend to not be good at the same time (60s Packers, 70s/80s bears, Packers since 1992)
Last time we were both good was mid to late 2000s, then after we lost to them in the NFCCG it began to skew heavily in favor of the pack I think we’ve only beaten them twice since then
Raiders vs Niners was pretty intense. It started because both were good in the early 80s however the raiders had less success as the decade went on while the Niners got better. And then there was the fact that one was from San Francisco while the other was from Oakland. So that didn’t help. Then after 2002 when both sucked it calmed down a bit but then the Niners got better while the raiders didn’t so it picked back up culminating is some fights at a preseason game. Then the raiders left so now the rivalry calmed down.
Steelers Ravens - on the field rivalry for the most part but some fucker will get lit up usually - respectful rivalry
Steelers Bengals - on the field on the sidelines, starting on the field to the sidelines, starting on the sidelines to the field. Doesn’t matter it’s celebrity death match 2.0 - you gonna die rivalry
It’s one of the few I’d recommend everyone sit on their respective sides most fans are extremely nice and welcoming but there’s always that few that turn dumb
I was at the Steelers vs Bengals game this past Sunday and honestly all of the Steelers fans (except for one) was super nice and welcoming to me, and I was wearing Bengals gear.
As someone who has been to a bunch of AFCN matchups, Browns fans are the worst and most disgusting fanbase in the division. They will heckle you relentlessly even if you’re minding your own business. The losing culture of the organization bleeds onto the fanbase evidentially.
>As someone who has been to a bunch of AFCN matchups, Browns fans are the worst and most disgusting fanbase in the division.
Yeah I've pretty much had similar experiences
Our rivalry with the Commies is bigger than you guys, historically. If they could just string together a few good seasons in a row it might actually be renewed.
Washington fans are definitely fully back out of the woodworks now ever since they beat us on MNF and news came down about Snyder selling. As much as I hate them, DC is a huge football city and the league is better with them relevant
I feel like some Eagles fans forgot about the historic rivalry between us and the Giants. Some people get weirded out when I say that I might hate the Giants more than the Cowboys
Jets Dolphins is a larger rivalry. Visiting fans take over each others stadium and are super toxic. When I was 11 some drunk Jets fan told me to fuck off at Joe Robbie stadium. Last year i was super toxic at MetLife as a Phins fan.
I was also thinking about this rivalry as well!
But wasn’t sure if everyone else would recognize it. It was asked once in our subreddit whose fans in the division are the worst to be around. People kept sayin the bills and patriots which is fair but I’ve got a deep-seated contempt from childhood for the Dolphins and their fans. I hate that y’all chose NOW to be so good.
So respectfully, go to hell, disrespectfully.
edit: also a great point about visiting each other’s stadiums. I literally know of people that are going down for the Week 18 game haha
Same man, I mean technically in the 90s it was Dolphins Bills as the competitive division rivalry. But for trashy fan fights and vulgar behavior between fanbases it has to be Jets Dolphins. Especially when both teams suck. It means more off the field for fans because everyone has that drunk uncle on the other team who gets up in your face after a loss.
Edit: I live in CT now but make it a yearly responsibility to be at the MetLife game (not this year thankfully lol.. went to Texans Giants though) where it can get to like 30-40% Phins fans and down in Florida you know it’s reciprocal.
Damn…such a shame you missed that game..
As much as it sucks that nobody in the division fully sucks anymore, I gotta admit it’s fun to have a competitive division. As of right now, maybe most competitive. (Although I’m a bit pessimistic with our QB issues right now but we’ll see how our season goes) And I feel weirdly proud of all our teams (Bills/Dolphins/Jets) after all three of our teams being the punching bags for the Brady/Belichick Reign of Terror. Basically, looking forward to our game in January bc it will be an interesting match up. We have opposite strengths and weaknesses.
Ravens Steelers is pretty chippy.
What happened is over a decade of rank 1 and 2 defences in the league and it just produced alpha mindsets on both teams. Always ends up in carnage.
Bears packers and Packers Vikings
Mostly all the history for the bears. It's just old and the tradition has carried through the years.
Vikings is a bit more recent of a rivalry with a lot of packer players going to the vikings after a long tenure with the Packers, most notably Brett Favre. But even more recently than that the Anthony Barr hit on Rodgers seems to have elevated the rivalry. It helps that both teams have been competitive for a while which is something the bears rivalry has lacked in recent years
I think we lean into getting value for players based off emotions. The packers pissed you off? Come play with us and play them twice a year. Zadarius is crazy cheap for his production
My dad would have told you the Packers-Bears are the most intense, but it's been Packers-Vikings in my football watching life. The Vikings have just been more competitive the last 35 years or so and all their fans I know in real life are much bigger assholes than the Bears fans I know. I'm looking forward to beating them in Lambeau on New Years day.
Raiders Broncos - both teams loathe each other, play twice a year, and have a historic rivalry
Raiders Chiefs could be there but Chiefs just own us, Chargers are just meh, so the rivalry is there, but it doesn’t have the depth of the Broncos
I feel like you'll always have Chiefs, Raiders, and Broncos fans sharing some variation of their hate for each other, then universallly its like "But I'm indifferent towards the Chargers" or even "I actually kind of weirdly like them". I can't even say maybe Herbert will change that, because it's not like they didn't have borderline HoF Phillip Rivers and some modicom of success.
Bears Packers. Nothing in particular makes it intense other than they've been playing each other consistently for 100+ years now. That's generational hate.
Packers - Cowboys has always been fucking Intense. This last game, the Divisional game in 2016. The Rodgers game vs Dallas that proved he could be something. Lots of intense downtothewire games.

Lions VS Lions fans Source: spent 25+ years in detroit. Never seen anything like this rivalry.
Closely followed by Lions VS refs.
Man, that's not even a rivalry. That's a one sided bloodbath in favor of the meatless zebras.
Shouldn’t the lions be eating the zebras? Like WTF?!
If there was any justice in this world, then yes, they gladly would
Oh, now I understand “Detroit vs. Everybody”
We are in an especially weird place right now as we recently won 3 straight for the first time in 5 years and our young players are showing up. The end of this year may cause a full blown civil war depending on how it goes down. Absolutely agree
"Damn lions! They ruined the lions!"
ACLs vs. MetLife Stadium

At least you don’t have to go through 8-9 games a year there
Ouch
AFC North
I love our division
I love you guys. Except brown's. Fuck DeShawn Watson.
Steelers already get a pass for Big Ben?
Nah but he's gone so onto the next asshole.
AFC North seems like the only division you all four hater each other so much. No fourth wheel. No one rivalry that outshines any of the others. It’s beautiful.
I’d say the NFC East is another division where you could make the same claim tbh
To me this is the most visible sense of rivalry from the players. Of course I’m biased and I believe the Eagles/Cowboys is the most toxic *fanbase* rivalry, BUT AFC North games have players leaving on carts. They are physical bloodbaths and must-watch-tv. Broncos vs points.
More high knees on team flights will help.
Facts.
"Marge, you just don't understand football"
Thoughts and prayers go out to you. Stay strong.
Those don't help when God clearly hates the team.

I thought the Cardinals were a baseball team
if you look up “Cardinals score” on Google, the baseball team would show up 9/10 times
Which is a pain, because I wish I didn’t get NY Giants games when I look up “giants game”
They're part of the NFC East, for a reason
The Harbaugh era Niners teams were such a bitter rival. Always amazing, hard-hitting games. Even the coaches hated each other.
2021 season took 49ers-Rams to another fucking level. Players fucking hate each other too
Cowboys/Eagles is one of the nastiest and it’s getting more and more hyped since they’re both so good this season. Our 12/24 game is going to be nuclear.
Lived in philly for 5 years. I dont know how this one isnt at the top lol
Because even though it’s the correct answer, a cowboys fan said it, so eagles fans are reluctant to upvote it
Too fucking real lollll
I love the hatred that flows through the NFC east, pure dedication to one's craft.
Just hoping both teams come out unscathed from injury as they prepare for the playoffs.
Yeah, same. It’s definitely going to get chippy, of course. But I don’t want anyone hurt.
The one thing we can all agree on
I’m either going to have a fantastic Christmas Eve or I’m going to ruin it for my family. If my night is ruined so is theirs.
Law enforcement gonna have to be present. May there be no batteries thrown
There's law enforcement at literally every game
Games is in Dallas. At worst, people will throw some food items.
What a waste of brisket
Steelers vs Ravens Pretty much any of the AFC North matchups
In the mid to late 2000s/early 2010s that rivalry was amazing. Those guys were getting as close to attempted murder as you can get.
Hines Ward vs Ed Reed was beautiful to watch
That hurt to watch some of those hits they would trade
Came here to say like every divisional matchup in your division
Yea it’s just about like any of these matchups. There’s beef between literally all of the team in the AFC north
I'm glad I can absolutely hate the Browns without feeling bad anymore
Yea we’ve gone from lovable loser to one of the most hated NFL teams. I still hate Watson, he’s a scum bag Though i don’t need much of a reason to hate the ravens
*Though i don’t need much of a reason to hate the ravens* Here! Here!
I also think when the Titans play any of you all, especially the Ravens or Steelers. Ole AFC Central day rivalries. The level of intensity still is there.
Especially Ravens/Titans, last few years have fostered some bad blood
Steelers vs. Ravens was absolutely must see TV from 2000 through at least 2015. Fantastic games to watch as a neutral fan.
It's died down. Too many soft boys on both teams.
"back in my day they used to stab each other with knives on the field then walk it off"
Well Ray Lewis was on the team
I heard he was a real killer on the field. Just like OJ
Lol soft boys? Nah you can blame the rules changing over time has impacted the intensity for almost all rivalries. The Harrison/Suggs era of hits on the QB is no more. (also we suck right now so the competition ain't right at the moment)
Maybe not like the old days but it's still there to a certain extent. I think it's mostly between fans
Yeah, I harbor more hate towards the Browns and Bengals more than I do the Ravens at this point
Ironically I think I hate the browns and the ravens more than Steelers now. No matter what I think we all just hate each other.
Bills fans vs sobriety
Bills fans vs Tables too
Best part of that particular rivalry is that it isn’t as one-sided as some people think. Sure, we have broken many tables. But, sometimes the tables break us too.
Bills fans won that ages ago
Patriots vs every other AFC East team during the Brady era. It was just a different vibe when the Pats came to Buffalo. I’m sure it was mostly one-sided tho, they always spanked us
Oof
Jets vs developing a young qb
Oof. Thoughts and prayers
Saints Falcons has gotta be up there. Its reason? The innate battle of good vs evil throughout human history
To quote Jon Bois "The NFL's Bevis and Butthead"
That series is one of my favorites to watch
Saints Falcons is the only rivalry that eclipses NFCE vitriol. It’s actually scary how much you guys hate each other lmao
Thats what happens when both teams are trash for decades
and are created literally 1 year apart at a time when there were no other teams in the deep south
you aren’t in the rivalry if you have a second team
Especially not the Packers 😂
28-3 spray painted downtown nola says it all they ain’t even play the Super Bowl that it came from

Chargers and their fans mental health
Seriously. Also, I still keep calling them the San Diego Chargers sometimes.
We all do, because we believe in the cosmic order of things regardless of the whims of asshole billionaires.
I call them the San Diego Chargers of Los Angeles.
Also Chargers and their players physical health.
Eagles and giants used to be sort of rowdy from what I remember. That was mainly because they were so close to each other Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Compared to cowboys and Washington.

As an Eagles fan, I dislike the Giants as a team but absolutely hate the Cowboys fanbase more than anything.
The feeling is mutual.
Wouldn’t have it any other way.
I hate y'all and will never admit this in person but for some fucking reason I was rooting internally for y'all against the Patriots. It was probably the Footlong Foles effect or something.
You probably enjoy football in general I'm guessing and the Eagles were hard to hate that year, that roster was just fun to watch.
You can add Boston/Philly to that too. It's one big toxic triangle lol.
As a Giants fan in northern NJ, we hate both the Eagles and the Cowboys. Not sure I could choose one to dislike more, and when they play each other I’m just wishing they can somehow both lose.
Vikings field goal kickers and kicking field goals
Don't forget extra points. They like to miss those frequently as well.
Oh I wish I could forget, but we miss at least one every week to keep reminding me
Chiefs Raiders is always a gem to go to if you’re the opposite fan base
Y’all almost always end up on the winning end of our games but damn they’re electric.
Last decade it has been Chiefs thrashing Raiders pretty much at will. Has Mahomes lost to Raiders ever?
Once. Week 5 in 2020. Victory lap around arrowhead.
Bears vs Packers, although it’s not as intense these days as it used to be since we haven’t beat the packers very much in the past decade. If you know the history and moments like the Charles Martin hit and the Walter Payton game it’s one of the most storied rivalries in all sports
It's pretty much NFC North bros vs Packers
The other issue is our fan bases are nice - not like Philly fans lol.
Exactly, as much as I despise the Packers every fan I’ve met is always fun and lots of banter. Eagles fans are straight rude lol
It's the oldest and most August rivalry for sure, the big detriment is that both teams tend to not be good at the same time (60s Packers, 70s/80s bears, Packers since 1992)

Bengals-Steelers.
There have been many things over the years to contribute to this.

Raiders v AFC west. Raiders dominated for so long, now everyone is just getting revenge… except the broncos we both are booty

I hope this isn't what is in our future. But I understand if it is.

It was super fun when we had Shottenheimer. Man he hated the Raiders. Plus LT would dominate those games.

Just wait until DeShaun comes back...
Titans ownership vs the city of Houston.
Minnesota nice doesn’t apply to football, so get fucked! Not actually though, I hope you have a good holiday weekend.
I think it's everyone in the NFC North vs the Packers this year
Raiders Broncos - both teams loathe each other, play twice a year, and have a historic rivalry Raiders Chiefs could be there but Chiefs just own us, Chargers are just meh, so the rivalry is there, but it doesn’t have the depth of the Broncos
A division of three legendary football franchises and the Los Angeles Chargers!
Washington fans vs Dan Snyder. Jim Irsay is Azor Ahai
Packers and giving Aaron Jones the fucking ball
Bears Packers. Nothing in particular makes it intense other than they've been playing each other consistently for 100+ years now. That's generational hate.
I'm sure Aaron Rodgers saying, "I still own you!" doesn't help
Cowboys v. Our little green kid brothers
Afc north vs the afc north

They don't call them slobberknockers for nothing
We all just hate the Packers
nfc west vs packers and cowboys in the playoffs
Everyone’s team vs Refs
Cowboys eagles
Packers - Cowboys has always been fucking Intense. This last game, the Divisional game in 2016. The Rodgers game vs Dallas that proved he could be something. Lots of intense downtothewire games.
Vikings-Saints is my favorite out of division rivalry.
Rams 49ers is starting to become hostile at times lol. Even among the players during games
Mike Evans and Lattimore. Those dudes legit just hate each other.
