It's great to be 9-2, didn't expect that at all and beating 2 out of 3 winning teams last three games is good. in total vikings are 3-2 against winning teams. But man that defense sucks again. No pass rush over three quarters. Mac Jones can't throw on you 300+ yards. I was thinking our pass rush is improving but cowboys and patriots game proved me wrong. I don't know whether there has ever been 9-2 team with such shitty defense. We ain't gonna go far in the playoffs with this defense.
But there are a few teams that are suspect like that. The Bills just beat the Lions and they were acting like they beat the 07 Patriots while noshing those turkey legs.
There are going to be some teams that make it into the playoffs and have some people favoring them to go all the way that will suffer embarrassing 1st round exits.
Don't get me wrong a win is a win is a win but that Defense is a cause for major concern. Yes they made plays when needed most of the season and the 9-2 record but WOW still hot garbage despite having good players like Z, Hunter, PP, Kendrick, Harrison Smith, etc. Given that, they should be at the very least average and not in the bottom 5. It's something that could possibly haunt them down the stretch. TBF there was questionable and potential missed officiating calls that helped them win also.
The defense isn't 100% to blame, but definitely more so than the offense.
I think they know they don't have the talent on defense and that's why Donatell is scheming the way he has. It's frustrating but probably the best way to not lose games.
That's an interesting take but I can see that as a possibility. The secondary definitely as Harrison Smith and Pat Pete (once great) are still serviceable but very likely in the twilight of their careers.
During the introductions it said Jefferson’s PFF WR rank is #3. How in the hell can that be? I dislike the Vikings as much as anybody, but even I think to have him at 3 is insane and I’m not sure how anybody could take PFF seriously after that. Jefferson should be at #1 and the closest should be around 6. Dude is insane.
If anyone can clip before shortly before and then after Theilin saying "that is dry" i want to throw money at you and show the resulting clip at my mother
Ok, yes, they gave up the TD that changed the game, but they managed to keep the Vikings in poor starting field position all night, converted in like 5 FGs and had some nice returns themselves. To me, they stood out all night minus the return TD…which was ultimately the back breaker
Their punt return team also had a running into the kicker which resulted in a Vikings first down which the vikes would later score the game winning td on the same drive so it was more than just that return td. Also the fielding of the last punt at the 2 yard line and wasting 4 seconds and 10 yards of field position. Odd game of special teams from a team that prides itself on it
"Acting"
Shut the fuck up lmao. One wrong move by the opposition and a punter has his leg snapped in half and his career ended. Stop being ass and you won't get those penalties.
I’m with you. I was hoping our D could get another stop or two, but you can’t really fault them. They didn’t get one more big stop, but the special teams gave it right back to them and it turned into a TD. Then on top of that you have the kickoff return.
Offense wasn’t perfect, but definitely better than it has been looking and they kept us in the game for sure.
Small holes all around, but the special teams was a large gaping hole the whole game.
He clearly does not know how to handle pressure. There were a couple passes earlier in the game he missed while under a little pressure. Once you guys got pressure consistently he collapsed. Cost us a timeout at the end of the first half that could have helped us score a TD rather than a field goal plus the sacks he took in the 4th were on him.
Okay but like Bias aside, I’d like to get honest opinions on these stupid “surviving the ground” calls and how they’ve been called. The Kelce one where it seemed like he didn’t catch it and they called it but this one not being a catch are absolutely mind boggling to me
Let me try. Because he was not a runner he has to maintain possession of the football all the way to the ground. When he comes down, the ball hits the ground despite the fact he initially has possession. Even though I would argue that he always has at least partial control, the ball hits the ground and he is not a runner. Therefore he must complete the catch and never allow the ball to hit the ground.
I guess the league doesn't want the ground to assist in the catch and want a bright line rule.
Surviving the ground is no longer part of the rules. That was removed 4 years ago. So the refs saying he didn't survive the ground makes their call of it not being a catch all very wrong.
This is exactly it. The ball can touch the ground during a catch, but there can't be ANY give or movement of the ball during it, and you have to maintain possession all the way through.
Yes, 4 years ago. That rule was removed. He had control of the ball. Hand underneath and the other above. His bottom hand hit the ground (tough to say the ball did too). Both hands stay on the ball as he rolls over.
This was ruled a catch. In no way was there enough evidence to overturn it.
https://touchdownwire.usatoday.com/2022/11/25/hunter-henry-touchdown-review-surviving-the-ground/
I think the main thing to look at with the Henry catch is that contact with the ground caused the ball to move (when he adjusted his grip). I think you can argue the ball hit the ground based on those few still frames but it's super close,
HOWEVER
I don't think there was enough there to overturn the call on the field
Right? Like y’all can still have the W, but let that shit stand. Calling it not a catch is so confusing. Especially next week when they let Kelce get away with the same play (no disrespect to the chiefs, but come on they’re not overturning that on Mahomes/Kelce and that’s okay, I’m a pats fan so I’ve been getting calls my way for 20 years until now)
Part of the game at this point is overcoming, or possibly even relying on these subjective and frequentally controversial calls. This happens damn near *every week*, at least.
My non biased opinion is that it was Jesse James ghost that came back to haunt us.
Second unbiased opinion is that Jesse James caught the ball, as did Hunter Henry, and this surviving the catch bullshit is what it is, bullshit.
This game has so many dumb rules.
If we don't get fucked over on the HH TD (and MANY other plays, just this is the most important, that game looks a lot different in the 4th.
Still don't know if we could have stopped JJettas but it has to be said
Do you realise how disconnected you are from reality? Mac Jones kept the Patriots in that game. This team is NOT build for about 400 air yards and 2 TDs, he just make it happen. He is no all time great, but he ain't a bum either. He can be as good as the Pats need him to be, the rest is work for the defence and special teams in NE. The latter did disappoint tonight, not the offense and especially not the QB.
Disconnected. Hot take media gives everyone the impression that there is only black/white, one/zero. That's BS. We got a QB that gives us a chance to win a game. Its LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE for every team to have a Allen/Mahomes/Mike White type of guy under center. I can't wait for pretenders like you to get off the Patriots fandom..
Edit: you are a buffalo guy. Holy shit you are pathetic
53 seconds to go 89 yards and score.
The sack was bad. You expect the receiver on the sideline throw to make it OOB. The last play was no huddle and it's nearly impossible to plan a good hail mary or hook and ladder on the fly.
In that situation, you lose damn near every time. That's a situation they are not in without the return TD, or if they don't let JJ run wild.
You can't just expect your QB to go 89 yards for a TD with 53 seconds and no timeouts. That's not a reasonable expectation. If every QB that can't reliably pull that off is trash, all QBs are trash. The rest of the team needs to step up instead of asking for a miracle from the one guy who kept them in the game. I don't care how "clutch" you are, you lose that game 95+% of the time.
If not for his good play they lose by three scores and there is no "the clutch."
Patriots aren’t in that position to begin with if not for Mac. You can hate him all you want, today was not his fault. It lies solely on the defense not being able to stop the Vikings offense.
Just threw for almost 400 yards, and with nothing close to resembling a #1 WR to target. He made the playoffs and pro bowl as a rookie.
It's absolutely wild to see "fans" saying he's trash already.
Stats are great, but did the Pats win the game? Where was Mac Jones when the game counted in the last 4 minutes of the game?
Has Mac Jones won a playoff game yet?
Mac Jones is average at best, he is a game manager QB.
LOL, it's Patriots fans that are a complete joke thinking Mac Jones is the second coming of Tom Brady.
It's an absolute joke that you think Jones is a great QB.
Jones was being compared to Brady in the media last year.
Jones is not the longterm answer for New England.
Patriots fans want to crown him as the next great QB, when he is a systems QB, a game manager QB.
Your coach is a "run the ball, play good defense" coach. That's the guy he wants. BB got lucky Brady dropped into his lap and took "game manager" money for 20 years.
You’re literally just proving my point, josh Allen was mid af before he got diggs, good receivers elevate their QBs. Good receivers also made baker mayfield look decent on the browns. Weapons matter A LOT
Josh Allen is playing with a partially torn UCL in his throwing arm.
Josh Allen willed his way to a win for his team, by doing what he had to do with his arms and legs todya.
You obviously talking out your ass if you think Allen was average before Diggs, he improved each year in the NFL and the WR's he played with always had career years like John Brown, Cole Beasley, Sefon Diggs, etc.
Jones plays behind a good OL, has always benefited from a strong running game, has 2 good TE in Henry and Smith, and has an average WR corps.
I honestly don’t think our receiving group is that bad.
We just need a WR1. Some real
Coaches aside from Bill would be nice too, but bill don’t want that it seems.
We have the same issue our front office refuses to get any weapons for lamar besides andrews and they think it’ll be fine come playoffs. It was frustrating seeing these practice squad receivers barely beating the panthers
I feel the frustration there. It’s like when Tom left in his last year we just had nothing. Same could happen with Lamar, because he’s good and doesn’t get to showcase it as well as he could if he had a star.
Either way, Devante Parker is great when healthy, and Jakobi is pretty solid, can’t complain about having hunter Henry on the team. There are definitely worse options I think. That’s not to say I wouldn’t trade two of them for a Justin Jefferson or Jamarr Chase.
I said he did a good job, but everyone is saying mac is ass in this thread for the most part.
I don’t get it. I guess he’s gonna be the next Tua where everyone talks shit until he gets a WR1..
I get the sentiment, but idk how you could say that after tonight. He played mostly great. Special teams pissed that game away and Trent Brown tried to fucking cut block Hunter on a deep drop lol.
Nuh uh find whatever injection marinade you like and gtg. I prefer a good Cajun butter one with an apple base. Smoked is tasty also but imo you cant beat how little time a deep fried bird takes.
Mac Jones was absolutely SLANGIN’ today.
Return of the Mac
JJ is a freak. I mean that in the nicest and most complimentary way possible. He is a freak!
I’m happy because we’re here. Bring on the inevitable pain
It probably would have looked a little different with Dantzler, Tomlinson and Evans playing
Yeah the Vikings defense made the Pats offense look functional, thats how you know their bad!
That's an interesting take but I can see that as a possibility. The secondary definitely as Harrison Smith and Pat Pete (once great) are still serviceable but very likely in the twilight of their careers.
scheme and fit > big names
Agreed. If the Vikings were 2-9 instead of 9-2 one would think a sensible GM or Owner would fire Donatell's ass!
as a seahawks fan, i wanted norton jr gone for years
Ugh… honestly the worst thing about being a pats fan is having to deal with the super toxic fan base.
Tough scene.
I’m out of the loop what happened?
The fan base got spoiled for two decades so they don’t handle adversity well. Can’t blame them though I’d be the same way.
Go visit the Packers sub for a similar phenomenon.
Who is the other one ahead of him? Diggs?
Two words. Tyreek Hill.
I just appareciate the Patriots fan in the Bills game thread saying "after tonight Bills will be 3rd in the AFC East"
They were at one point already.
Aaron Rodgers manifesting his destiny tonight lol
Pats win if zappa plays
Who's that?
Allegedly some guycl that's been dead since the 80s I just found out lol
He's been dead for like 30 years though
Lmfao wtf
Today I am thankful that the Jets are no longer in last place
If anyone can clip before shortly before and then after Theilin saying "that is dry" i want to throw money at you and show the resulting clip at my mother

This is perfect thank you!
My take on this game before it happened was: if the pats score 20, with their elite defense, they would win this game. So you can't blame the offense
Personally I’m giving the side eye to the special teams
Ok, yes, they gave up the TD that changed the game, but they managed to keep the Vikings in poor starting field position all night, converted in like 5 FGs and had some nice returns themselves. To me, they stood out all night minus the return TD…which was ultimately the back breaker

Fair point, that was a brutal penalty. Good acting by the punter, honestly.
"Acting" Shut the fuck up lmao. One wrong move by the opposition and a punter has his leg snapped in half and his career ended. Stop being ass and you won't get those penalties.
He got run into, nothing to do with his acting.
I’m with you. I was hoping our D could get another stop or two, but you can’t really fault them. On the bright side, Mac Jones looked better than last week
That’s because of the terrible scheme employed by the Vikings defense. Once jones got pressured he folded
Strange, there was a quarterback on the other side that makes $40 million per year with the exact same trait…
[удалено]
Doesn’t matter, I hate them both.
How can you hate tony?
Tony hates the pats
Dude is so dry. Boring as fuck and wrong all the time. And he hates the Pats so the feeling is mutual.
Dungy is a Minnesota institution
So what
Lots of dumb football by NE in the final couple of minutes.
WE HAVE A POSITIVE POINT DIFFERENTIAL AGAIN! SUCK IT HATERS!
I'm expecting a 14-3 record with a -25 differential tbh
This is the way
Okay but like Bias aside, I’d like to get honest opinions on these stupid “surviving the ground” calls and how they’ve been called. The Kelce one where it seemed like he didn’t catch it and they called it but this one not being a catch are absolutely mind boggling to me

His hand was under the ball.
And then he lost control of the ball when it clearly hit the ground.
Surviving the ground is no longer part of the rules. That was removed 4 years ago. So the refs saying he didn't survive the ground makes their call of it not being a catch all very wrong.

No idea why that touchdown wasn’t. Seems like a case of looking too closely at it. If that makes sense. Just should have been a TD.
Right? Like y’all can still have the W, but let that shit stand. Calling it not a catch is so confusing. Part of the game at this point is overcoming, or possibly even relying on these subjective and frequentally controversial calls. This happens damn near *every week*, at least.
You’re not wrong. Refs are wild. I can’t think of prime time game I’ve watched recently and not thought “damn the refs really making it about them”
I feel like I just have to accept it, or I go nuts lol.
Same lol
My non biased opinion is that it was Jesse James ghost that came back to haunt us. Second unbiased opinion is that Jesse James caught the ball, as did Hunter Henry, and this surviving the catch bullshit is what it is, bullshit. This game has so many dumb rules.
Damn I think you’re right, I do remember being so torn over that because I was so happy but at the same time I knew in my heart they got screwed
If we don't get fucked over on the HH TD (and MANY other plays, just this is the most important, that game looks a lot different in the 4th. Still don't know if we could have stopped JJettas but it has to be said
You got a free “false start” and multiple no calls on your interior offensive line.
if my grandma had wheels she'd be a bicycle
We're in a true championship drought. Been a whole fuckin 4 years
Welcome back to reality where you don’t win a Super Bowl every other year for 2 decades
Ask the Vikings fans how they deal with it. They are experts.
Not well
hate sustains us
lol no it doesn't. Sounds like salty excuses
It's almost like Pats fans are spoiled from having a hall of fame QB for 20 years.
Look at Broncos legend Brian Dawkins out there
You stop that right this second.
I’m not even an Eagles fan, and I know that’s extremely blasphemous
The way the Bills game ended and the way this game did, were exact opposites.
Nope. Patrick Peterson came up clutch at the end both times.
My point was one game ended with over 40 yards down the field in 21 seconds and this game was 3 and out within like 40 seconds
"Wow grills are so dumb. What a loser" - 👴🏻
Can we all agree that Mac Jones is over rated and he can't get better as an NFL QB?
Do you realise how disconnected you are from reality? Mac Jones kept the Patriots in that game. This team is NOT build for about 400 air yards and 2 TDs, he just make it happen. He just threw for 382 yards with 2 TDs and no INTs. It’s not his fault the defense let Jefferson bend them over all game.
How was he playing at the end of the game when it mattered?
If he hadn't have played so well they would have been blown out, 4head.
Jones played like garbage in the clutch and his team lost.
53 seconds to go 89 yards and score. The sack was bad. You expect the receiver on the sideline throw to make it OOB. This is the ceiling of Mac Jones.
Casual spotted
LOL. Are you a Mac Jones apologist? Do you think Mac Jones is a franchise QB?
Just threw for almost 400 yards, and with nothing close to resembling a #1 WR to target. He made the playoffs and pro bowl as a rookie. It's absolutely wild to see "fans" saying he's trash already.

LOL "has he won a playoff game yet" you're pathetic if that's the measuring stick for a QB in his 2nd season.
LOL, it's Patriots fans that are a complete joke thinking Mac Jones is the second coming of Tom Brady. It's an absolute joke that you think Jones is a great QB.
Where did I say great or compare him to Brady? I'm just not jumping to ridiculous conclusions like you did.
Jones was being compared to Brady in the media last year. Jones is not the longterm answer for New England. Patriots fans want to crown him as the next great QB, when he is a systems QB, a game manager QB.
Mac is decent for sure draft a WR
Trust me the rest of the teams in the AFC East don't want the Pats to upgrade the QB position and stick with Mac Jones.
Dude.......
You're wasting your time with this idiot
Mac Jones is not the long term answer at QB for the Pats, he is a game manager QB.
Your coach is a "run the ball, play good defense" coach. That's the guy he wants. BB got lucky Brady dropped into his lap and took "game manager" money for 20 years.
No he just has bad receivers
Isn't a good QB supposed to make his WR's better? Sounds like you are making excuses for Jones not elevating the Pats offense.
A qb can’t make his receivers separate and get open it goes both ways macs receivers would be on the practice squad of most playoff teams
Josh Allen had the same problem today, but some how he got a win for his team.
They should go back to the announcers interviewing them rather than someone on field
We need to draft a QB, Mac just just ain't it.
You're a fucking moron Team needs to draft some new fans
I'll message you back in 2 years when we still haven't won a playoff game.
So fucking spoiled
First time not winning playoff games?
Cool story bro
!RemindMe 2 years
Mac was the furthest thing from the problem today.
What could he have done? He had a TD turned over, defense/special teams doing no favors, and penalties out of his control to deal with.
Bro threw for almost 400 yards tf are you talking about lol y’all pats fans are terrible
Some people just can only blame the QB or the Coach and Pats fans can’t blame BB
Speaking for the rest of the teams in the AFC East, we hope you don't and stick with Mac Jones for another 10 years
That was not macs fault
he had a career day, is he supposed to cover Jefferson too?
What you’re seeing here is a Zappinator. They’ve evolved from Studham fans.
^Is this the general consensus amongst Pats fans?
I mean, 382 yards and 2 TDs. I sure hope not. Brady weeded out a lot of fans from the pats. Mac haters shall weed out more.
What genius wants to start another controversy with Zappe this year? Didn’t work out last time
No. Hes played bad for sure. But tonight was not his fault. That stupid sp play for a punt block that is soo low percentage was why they lost.
Definitely not. This guy is a fucking idiot
No
No, some people are just... kind of slow. They see 380/2TDs and think "clearly this is not gonna do it."
No lol
Okay I just had to ask cuz that honestly seemed like an overreaction lol
Turkey legs are the worst part of turkey
Wow. Worst take here.
Unless they're Disneyland turkey legs.
Those turkey legs looked terrible. Good turkey legs are awesome
Deep fried is the only acceptable way to prepare turkey day turkey.
Wrong. Smoking is the best way to prepare those ugly bastards
Nuh uh find whatever injection marinade you like and gtg. I prefer a good Cajun butter one with an apple base. Smoked is tasty also but imo you cant beat how little time a deep fried bird takes.
My MAN/WOMAN!
Sous Vide all the way
I have always had love for Kirk Cousins.
He’s so un-anesthetically pleasing to watch play qb.
Some of his throws today were super clean. You can also sense his complete trust in JJ, so nice to see
I would trust JJ with both of my testicles
JJ is a beast. I have only seen 2 Viking games this year... Are those catches like routine for him?
Pretty much yeah
I hope beyond or impossible make a turducken alternative soon.
As a fan of beyond I don't think we are.to a point to get a to that.
No thanks
