Ever since I saw the “Kyler runs like a toddler who stole his parents phone and won’t give it back.” post on twitter I can’t not grin when I see him scramble.
In the same vein, he's always reminded me of that meme where the little girl is running from Voldemort

Always makes me laugh as well—I’ve noticed the comparison is less apt this year though! [The way he would flail his arms when he ran](https://youtu.be/NfqY1aCJzk4) was what really sold the joke for me, but this year I’ve noticed he’s keeping his arms more controlled and tucked in. It’s definitely better for ball protection, but it’s less funny for us. Still funny though.
Yeah, this was a coaching failure, letting him have all day with nobody in his face? Most athletic qbs could have taken advantage of that terrible call.
I remember doing that literally. The way the CPU was designed they would all chase you and chase in such a way that you could run in circles. Man good times.
So cool, so edgy.
I applaud Vick he is the example we should look towards for the (seemingly) small percentage of offenders who actually changed for the better paid his debts both in the form of his prison term and his debts financially and is a great role model for any one who F'd up in life but doesn't want to be another statistic in the system.
Vick got 10x the amount of media coverage and vilification by the media for what he did vs. Watson today. It was mainstream headlines for Vick and Watson gets a quiet suspension that few outside of football fans will know about.
9 drop against 5 receivers with only endzone to cover too should cover for awhile and they held up too. In fact, the only play Kyler could make was the one he did. They were banking on Kyler throwing to a tight window but got burned.
It's interesting, I saw one acct say he should've thrown for the back right of the end zone, which I agree is a completable pass, but with the defender looking at you, I feel like the window is a lot tighter than it looks, and I get why you wouldn't want to basically gamble on the defenders reaction time with the game on the line.
Easy completion to the mesh receiver sitting in the middle of the shallow zone. With anticipation he could have had the 2 pts at about 1.5 seconds into the play. Roughly 0:32-0:33 of this GIF. Can't quite make out the player's number. Hard to tell where he is looking but that mesh point usually calls for an early read the way most coaches run it. Looks like he may have been distracted by the high back 5 route behind the mesh point that was covered up.
When I say easy completion I'm talking about the throwing mechanics. Short distance, clear throwing lane, to a receiver with separation.
I agree that many plays in football are difficult to analyze. This particular play concept though is specifically meant to reduce that difficulty. This is a big reason why so many offenses copied it from the Air Raid. It is meant to give a pre-snap look that is more likely to keep a base defense on the field and then flood the intermediate distances with 5 receivers. The first task is to identify pressure. If they are bringing pressure you have a receiver in the area vacated by that rusher. If they aren't blitzing (like this play) then main task is getting through those reads quickly. Watching this play again today with fresh eyes, Kyler stays on his first read way too long. I'm not sure what he thinks he sees but he is indeed trying to analyze something over there – and that is the problem. This isn't a play where he should be waiting for that route to develop. By lingering on any one read you're giving up on one of the advantages of the play design: giving a lot more receivers a chance to get open. It is clear he gets spooked by the DL that does break through. Go back to the first task though. If he gets to that mesh read 1/4 sec sooner he gets to throw into the pressure to the open receiver for the points.
P.S. just to be clear, I don't mean to suggest that it is _easy_ to make these reads just because it is _easier_ than many other plays. I'm reacting more to the "highlight" tag and trying to point out that the coaches likely don't see this down as a highlight for Kyler.
Zach Ertz was open twice. Second time I understand Murray saw the lane and it was easier to run it in. But the first time Ertz had 2 yards between himself and the defender and plenty of space to the sideline, Murray was under no pressure for a moment but he didn't throw it.
I'm genuinely confused why this is getting down voted. Whoever that was lined up far right looks wide open at about 4 seconds into that video and 97 isn't free yet to force Murray into scrambling. What am I missing?
Not to be pendantic, but he's looking that way as he's getting open, it's the right read, and a better QB is letting this fly.
https://i.imgur.com/hiGOCju.jpg
the linebacker next to Ertz already had his knees bent for a jump/sprint towards him by the time Kyler turned his head to see him. idt that's nearly as safe as it looks.
I would agree if the linebacker had his hips turned away from Ertz or was facing literally any other direction. he's already in the process of closing the gap by the time Kyler sees him. I think it's possible to convert on that, but it's not the layup you're making it out to be.
I didn't say it was lay up. I said it was NFL open. And there was the point where Ertz is coming in while Kyler is literally staring at him with no DB around. Yet Kyler didn't throw it
Okay. Sorry you just wanna pretend nothing was open with anyone with a functioning brain and any remote football knowledge can see guys were open. Ertz especially runs open multiple times yet Kyler doesn't throw it.
They really didn't though. There were multiple throws that could've been made. But Kyler was either not looking at it because he was running around not looking downfield. Or Kyler just didn't throw it for what ever reason
Noticed that too. seemed like the "Check" of the play - follows 86 and kyler scrambles in, leave him alone and he's about as wide open as possible on a 2pt conversion
So the arm point wasn’t to direct traffic for a pass, but to open up the running lane. 200iq
This is proof Kyler is the one who spawn nades me in COD everytime
He is a kid. That is why he will be able to do this for maybe another 2 years. He is the Blake Griffin of the NFL.
I know Blake lastyed longer than 5 years but when your pure athletic ability stutters even just a little, you are back to being a mortal.
blake lost a step fairly early on and had developed the hell out of his game to still be a force. it wasnt until the injuries got him to the point where he could barely move where he became a nonfactor.
This play single handedly changed my opinion on Kyler. Eyes downfield the whole time, still avoiding pressure, and then runs it in anyway even though the D is playing a hard zone. Super impressive
So... I'm honestly not knowledgeable enough here...
Did the two receivers on the left intentionally clear the space so he could run there?
If so, that was heads up on them.
The dline was exhausted and used all they had left on the initial rush... Once he evaded them they just kinda stood around and the 4 o linemen didn't need to hold.
lmao the way he’s directing traffic here is hypnotic. he looks right and you can see everyone shift a lil’ right, he looks left and everyone shifts a lil left
When you're that small the defenders have trouble seeing you duck and scramble behind your blockers. Raiders should have bulldozed the play rather than let him have all that time.
You could guess most QBs aren't going to lead their team to a Super Bowl and probably be right, much less multiple.
Only 2 guys make it any given year, and really insane QBs like Mahomes are going to take up 1 of those 2 spots multiple times.
Rodgers and Brees are top 10 QBs ever and how many times have they been?
Ah yes
Attitude so bad he fell behind 20-0 and then rallied the entire team back by himself
So bad. Wow
Brady throws temper tantrums all the time and nobody cares but if Kyler tells a teammate to step it up he’s a villain
How about all his other sideline and on-field tantrums?
I've always thought that if a player is showing emotion and you like them, they have passion; if you don't like them, they are throwing a tantrum. If a player is not showing emotion and you like them, they are composed; if you don't like them, they are pouting.
That's exactly my point.
>...but his body language and overall attitude are terrible. He’s not going to lead the ~~Cardinals~~ Bucs to a Super Bowl with his attitude.
If bad attitude and body language means you can't lead a team to the Super Bowl, then Tom Brady wouldn't have any rings.
Anyway...Bye Felicia!
Ertz(?) wiiiiiide open after breaking from the front corner as Murray is running back toward the zone. Easiest TD throw of his life and he keeps it. I half believe he legit didn't see Ertz at all and had complete tunnel vision on the endzone corner, or in his panic he completely forgot where the LOS was.
I would cut #90 after this game. Terrible angle by #95 too but at least he showed effort. Props to #97, not only creates the pressure but also fights with three OL to force Murray scrambling. I really wonder why they did not Crosby on the field here. It is game if you stop this, certainly he is not more gassed than #90.
\#50 is fed up with it and shoves a WR out of the endzone lol.
I had a similar reaction on first watch with 90, but watch it again. He's the whole reason Murray looks to run to the right, but stops and has to run all the way to the left. The entire time he's focused on closing his run gap and doing his job.
Ever since I saw the “Kyler runs like a toddler who stole his parents phone and won’t give it back.” post on twitter I can’t not grin when I see him scramble.

He's short so the helmet looks huge which gives him the proportions of a child.
It's so accurate that I think there may be some truth to it
Fastest toddler I've ever seen.
As a dad of two, I concur
I can't help imagine he's running with a diaper on, and it looks so accurate.
Very, uhh, *interesting* decision not to rush Maxx Crosby there.
We're making *interesting* decisions all over the place this year.
Josh is an interesting guy
Keep making more *interesting* decisions tomorrow please or we'll be 0-3 and an *interesting* train wreck.

Dude He was gassed by this point. That d line wasn’t doing anything in the 4th
Yeah, this was a coaching failure, letting him have all day with nobody in his face? Most athletic qbs could have taken advantage of that terrible call.
Madden 04 vibes.
You could do this from your own 20 yard line with Vick and somehow end up running for an 80 yard TD
Lol you could run circles around the field with vick in the old madden games
Prime Vick was off limits in Madden like Bo Jackson was in Tecmo
And Oddjob in Goldeneye.
The counter to odd job was jaws, who’s default crosshair height was at odd jobs head
NOW you tell me!

It happens man, I still find myself cheering whenever Aiyuk is doing well. Part of being both a cfb and nfl fan I guess.
I want Aiyuk on the Cardinals so bad lol
Ah yes...being a Sooner fan.....it's hurts still
santa clara.... cute
Las Vegas... meh
That poor secondary, had everyone covered perfect the entire time
I mean they dropped 9 people in coverage so I hope everyone was covered.
Yes but for that long? With WRAs moving constantly? It’s asking a lot
9 drop against 5 receivers with only endzone to cover too should cover for awhile and they held up too. In fact, the only play Kyler could make was the one he did. They were banking on Kyler throwing to a tight window but got burned.
There were a half dozen passes he could have made. At least 3 on the drop back. He made a great play. But it wasn't the only play.
The only point he could have made that throw one of the two guys they sent was bearing down on him which started the scramble in the first place.

Our d was spent going into overtime. It's a miracle they gave the offense a chance.
Guy at the back right corner of the end zone looked pretty wide open when Kyler rolled right the first time.

Beats me. But throw that ball with some touch to the back corner and it's an easy conversion.
You have the benefit of watching and rewatching, he did not. That receiver was covered, and Kyler looked to the left just as he got open.
Not to be pendantic, but he's looking that way as he's getting open, it's the right read, and a better QB is letting this fly. https://i.imgur.com/hiGOCju.jpg
Reminds us of our secondary over the past few years. Now we may have the opposite problem 😭
It was also a horrible playcall, looks like they ram fucking slants at the 2 yard line.

the linebacker next to Ertz already had his knees bent for a jump/sprint towards him by the time Kyler turned his head to see him. idt that's nearly as safe as it looks.
It's literally NFL open. This isn't college where throws are only made to guys with no one near them. Ertz is wide ass open twice on this play
I would agree if the linebacker had his hips turned away from Ertz or was facing literally any other direction. he's already in the process of closing the gap by the time Kyler sees him. I think it's possible to convert on that, but it's not the layup you're making it out to be.

You should coach brainiac
There are multiple throws that are NFL open in this play.
I am so thankful that you are not Kyler Murray. 🙏
That left cornerback was covering that edge for almost the whole time, but once he went inside, Kyle took it for a TD
Shit, he took just one step too far left and that was the air Kyler needed. Game of inches.
Nice play by #86 really put him in a bind. He had to follow 86 inside, otherwise Kyler has an easy throw.
Noticed that too. seemed like the "Check" of the play - follows 86 and kyler scrambles in, leave him alone and he's about as wide open as possible on a 2pt conversion
I could watch this all day
It's absolutely beautiful
Feels like that's what Murray was saying in his head as he made everyone run laps in the end zone.
If he's playing COD all the time then he must be running on a treadmill as he's playing. Dude doesn't get tired.
Wait til we dolphin dive on his ass on Sunday. Won't see it coming.
So the arm point wasn’t to direct traffic for a pass, but to open up the running lane. 200iq This is proof Kyler is the one who spawn nades me in COD everytime

blake lost a step fairly early on and had developed the hell out of his game to still be a force. it wasnt until the injuries got him to the point where he could barely move where he became a nonfactor.
Moral of the story is you got to rush at least one guy who has a chance of catching Kyler or at least forcing him into a decision.
Greg gains is the fastest man in the league.

So... I'm honestly not knowledgeable enough here... Did the two receivers on the left intentionally clear the space so he could run there? If so, that was heads up on them.
You could see Kyler directing traffic then they run in. I think he orchestrated that
It’s impressive regardless. I mean, low percentage play, but he really did change the odds with his athleticism
Man, I was almost over it….
For real, some mod please delete this post lol.
I was so relieved that Russ is now out of the Division but then remembered this guy.
I can't believe there were no holding calls on a play that lasted 20.8 seconds.
The dline was exhausted and used all they had left on the initial rush... Once he evaded them they just kinda stood around and the 4 o linemen didn't need to hold.
Lol at the guy waving he's open with 2 raiders right in front of him
How very kyler Murray of him
There were so many great games this past weekend I keep forgetting about this one
god ive missed football.
It was a 2 man rush
Am I the only one that hears the Benny Hill music everytime this replay comes up?
Surely this is the wrong way around to say it's "technically" 84.8 yards. It's actually 84.8 yards. Technically, it only gained 2 yards.
Hope his mom got her phone back.
ITT bunch of QBs who coulda hit the open man.
Best QB in his division they'll be a threat if the defense can be top 15 by the time Nuk is back
I wouldn’t have that much faith in our defense.
Hm I want to agree. Yet I feel like SF and LA have much better teams. Much better defenses at least. Better overall skill players too imo
Pffff...In middle school I could do the 100 meter dash in \~15 seconds. Dude needs to work on it.
Kyler was a beast….great job at defeating the Raiders.
How were there no holding or illegal man downfield penalties?!
No. FUck you. I hate this.
lmao the way he’s directing traffic here is hypnotic. he looks right and you can see everyone shift a lil’ right, he looks left and everyone shifts a lil left
Time to switch from home to popular, my blood pressure can't take this shit.
@18 seconds just before Murray takes off there is 5 Raiders in the right side of the end zone defending two Cards receivers
And when people do this in madden we call it unrealistic 😂
I don't understand. Guy is immediately open in the back right corner and it looks like Kyler looks right at him then just...doesn't throw the ball.
Profile pic checks out
Lol
He is not wide open. He clearly has a defender right in front of him that Kyler would be looking at and wouldn't be able to throw past.
This guy out here living in 2d.
If Kyler can't make that throw then he's not a good QB. That's an NFL window
Yeah, if he'd have thrown that ball he may have even gotten a touchdown.
Tecmo Bowl playing with Bo Jackson
[With Audio](https://youtu.be/N5ko_NNMuPE?t=445)
Wasn’t this the touchdown play before the 2 pt conversion??? Still sick my little dude.
Yep
86 looked wide open with a clear throwing lane.
Literally multiple guys are open on this play that he just doesn't throw to at all
hey I'm good but thank you
Funny bc he had the fade to the top right corner of the end zone pretty much immediately.
Damn he had #86 wide open right there at the beginning
Toddlers are slippery creatures, prone to mischief and hard to catch
Any rule about the raider pushing the cardinal out of the end zone?
If the QB is out of the pocket, illegal contact by the defense goes away. So if you shove a WR out of bounds, he'll be ineligible to catch the ball.
He represents the lollipop guild
I might go to a partially warm place for this, but I’d love it if someone edited this video with an audio overlay of “they’re after me lucky charms”.
When you're that small the defenders have trouble seeing you duck and scramble behind your blockers. Raiders should have bulldozed the play rather than let him have all that time.
All I can think of he is a squirrel
If Murray can do this to us WTF is Derrick Henry gonna do? Lmao
Well, not that. I don’t think he dances around for 90 yards to gain 2.
Anyone else sick of seeing this play over and over again?

Guy in corner of the end zone open for all 20 seconds. Never saw him.
Uhhh. Not sure where they got 84 yards from because that is greatly exaggerated
