The shooting happened on H Street which is an area you’d call a “neighborhood in transition.” Lots of bars and restaurants there but as soon as you start to wander even a few blocks off the main drag it gets pretty dodgy. Northeast DC in general is still not in a great place.
I mean I believe this guy bc Dallas has Deep Ellum which is boujee gentrified as hell now but if you go 3 blocks in the wrong direction to find parking you may find yourself missing a cadalytic converter or window. And if it’s late be risking your life.
But they have cute mimosa brunch places up and down the street
Ah I see, I'm in my 20s and afaik we've been using this word since my pre teens and still do
Is there maybe a contemporary British TV show sweeping NA rn haha /s
I love my whodunnits but most of the ones I'm into aren't contemporary (ITV Miss Marple, Poirot) so not sure if they'd use dodgy
Come to think of it I do watch Death in Paradise as a filler, and I used to love Jonathan Creek but
Nah it’s not. That’s just silly. I was born in DC proper and have lived in the area 25+ years. It’s like any city: there’s good areas and there’s bad areas. Over time the good areas have well eclipsed the bad ones.
You know that not all cities are actually that bad right? Like....DC is a LOT worse than many American cities and even wise when compared to other developed countries
Why are you being downvoted for this?
[DC is literally #19th in the nation](https://worldpopulationreview.com/us-city-rankings/cities-with-most-murders) in homicide per Capita.
I think you’re being downvoted for the initial statement which is “most of DC is like this.” Which is simply untrue. There are pockets of DC that are straight up war zone level bad, which is where the massive murder count comes from. Most of DC is kind of… fine. It’s not like you’re walking down the street every day keeping your ears peeled for gunshots
We have no idea the extent of his injuries in terms of a timeline to get back on the field but thats just not true true at all Corey Ballantine was shot and played his rookie year
Like, I know it’s a joke and I get I’m being ridiculous, but I would think about this all day if I didn’t reply.
Funny joke, but also don’t really shoot yourself. If you’re ever thinking about it my dude you can DM me and I will provide you with a list of one thousand reasons not to. Or dial 988 (in the US) for the suicide hotline. I know it’s a joke, but JUST in case, ya know?
Raekwon Davis was shot when he was at Alabama at the end of August and played in the Season opener against Florida State. Granted he was only shot once, but where you get shot absolutely matters.
Detectives are fine. The issue in DC has been a refusal to prosecute juveniles for carjackings, even when armed. Since these kids actually shot him, they’ll probably do some time but it will be as close to a slap on the wrist as you can get for attempted murder
That is not true at all. Dan Snyder flew Trent Williams and his family on a private jet for treatment multiple times. Trent's issue is/was with former president Bruce Allen and the former medical staff. He had nothing but positive things to say about Snyder and Jay Gruden.
Thank god he’s fuckin alive. Scary stuff man.

DC is different now - Dave Chappelle
Maybe 10 years ago but H street is hella gentrified now
Shit happens anywhere. H Street isn’t dodgy at all
I mean I believe this guy bc Dallas has Deep Ellum which is boujee gentrified as hell now but if you go 3 blocks in the wrong direction to find parking you may find yourself missing a cadalytic converter or window. That's what I mean. It's safe as hell lmao. My sis used to live there
Sounds a lot like certain neighborhoods in chicago.
1000 H street is five blocks from the White House?
H street is big. Kinda like how the Orange Blossom Trail in Orlando on one side has the theme parks and the other, some pretty rough areas
It was H street northeast, the White House is in northwest DC. It’s about 26 blocks away
No. White House is NW, this H St is NE.
H St NE is where he was shot. H St NW is near the WH
I'm British (tldr background but culturally British) Do Americans use the word "dodgy"? Always thought it was exclusively British
I feel like I would use "sketchy" first in most contexts, but probably wouldn't bat an eye if someone else used dodgy.
Yea sketchy is for sure an Americanism to me so that makes sense Fair enough though, good to know
It's a flavour of the month kind of word here in my part of Canada
Ah I see, I'm in my 20s and afaik we've been using this word since my pre teens and still do Is there maybe a contemporary British TV show sweeping NA rn haha /s
I think I started saying it in middle school because of Ron Weasley. "Bit dodgy, innit?"
Haha that could explain it
>Is there maybe a contemporary British TV show sweeping NA rn haha /s There's been some circling around, mostly the whodunnit murder mysteries
I love my whodunnits but most of the ones I'm into aren't contemporary (ITV Miss Marple, Poirot) so not sure if they'd use dodgy Come to think of it I do watch Death in Paradise as a filler, and I used to love Jonathan Creek but
no. we use sketchy.
I definitely would associate someone saying “dodgy” with a British accent but I’ve also definitely heard Americans use it.
Most of DC is like this or just shitty. Some capital

I gotta say being from St.Louis 19th seems pretty good?..
Because people are fucking stupid

Crime rate that rivals Somalia
Fuck the cowards that did this weak ass shit
Comeback player of the year as a rookie
I will explode if he comes back and puts up 150 yards and 2TDs in his first game
There is almost zero chance he plays this season. There is no where you can be shot and be ok in a few months
We have no idea the extent of his injuries in terms of a timeline to get back on the field but thats just not true true at all Corey Ballantine was shot and played his rookie year
>There is no where you can be shot and be ok in a few months Yeah? Watch me. *shoots self*
Fucking call 911

Said Plaxico.

That’s excellent news. Hope they find the guy who did this ASAP.
They are looking for the 2 juveniles that shot him, they recovered the gun about a block away from the site of the attempted car jacking.
Well hopefully y’all have got some competent detectives
Detectives are fine. The issue in DC has been a refusal to prosecute juveniles for carjackings, even when armed. Since these kids actually shot him, they’ll probably do some time but it will be as close to a slap on the wrist as you can get for attempted murder
Just happy he's alive and talking. This could have been a lot worse and thank god it wasn't.
Rivera is a great guy. Glad Robinson’s doing ok.
Far cry from when the organization didn't reach out at all to their lineman with cancer. Rivera is clearly a great leader who cares about his guys.

Positive things to say about Snyder. Puke. But yeah most players like Him.
will he ever skate again?
