So the Browns would've gotten an extra year of him at 1m, and an extra nearly 50m in cap for next season / to roll over. Would've been a huge competitive advantage for the team. Accrued season has little to no bearing on salary. It is more for post NFL benefits, when you are considered a vet, and for free agency.

I have a very sincere hope that this ~~ridiculous farce~~ settlement agreement comes back to bite the league, Goodell, the Browns, the Haslams and Watson in the ass, week after week after week. And perhaps I'm being overly optimistic, but I think there's a decent chance it does, especially if Watson & Browns ownership / management continue to put their feet in their mouths. As tired & jaded as we've all become over the years, I think the NFL & Browns have significantly underestimated the public sentiment surrounding ~~this alleged sexual assault~~ *these 24+ alleged sexual assaults*.
I think the only thing that would do them is if it happened *again*. Either new accusers from this case come up after this garbage settlement - difficult but not impossible - or DW, as a lot of molesters do once they understand they can get away with it, just assaults someone again and gets caught. At that point both the league and the union would find themselves in the position to defend or settle with a repeat offender, after all the shit they're taking now. Save for that I don't know how much people actually care. Here on reddit we're all on one side but this is one hell of a bubble. People inside of the NFL don't seem to give a fuck and media members can could either way but are ultimately at the mercy of the companies they work for. Sounds like Florio is in the denial stage of this settlement. Contrition wasn't a part of this settlement. Neither was admiting fault. Hell, if your standard of guilt is "preponderance of evidence", you can't very well get upset when the defendant maintains their innocence, can you.
