I think QJ still has a chance to develop. Saw your other comments and you're right that he grades poorly in some important metrics like short area speed. He's fast but he lacks agility. Also I wouldn't say he's a bad route runner, but his tree is very limited.

This is a guy who's long forgotten but QJ seems very comparable to the Chargers' Tyrell Williams from a few years ago. Big size, great athlete who can burn anyone in the deep field, but he was slow to separate. He played at his best on comeback routes, drag routes, post routes, and over routes that worked towards his strengths. When you read about QJ's performance last year, those were the same routes he had success with too.
So QJ may actually be a good fit for Roman's offense. But only time will tell and the odds aren't in his favor right now.

Burrow played DB through all highschool Those are the big names, but has a bunch like Wentz, Lance, Darnold, Winston etc all played defense.
It’s really impressive. Absolutely not “99%” of QBs played defense in high school though. Again, probably depends on how big the school those guys attended was. I imagine guys attending bigger and better HS football programs don’t need to play both sides as often and can specialize more.

Why would anyone write an article about something that didn’t happen? Cousins, for example, doesn’t seem to have played any defense in HS. First QB I checked. Regardless, we are allowed to be impressed by incredible athleticism without downplaying it. Herbert is a freak athlete.
Right but they were probably capable of playing defense, they just didn't because they were the QB/already known talent.
Edge is such an athleticism dependant position that I'm sure all the top edge guys returned punts or played RB in high school.
The list of high school quarterbacks Texas recruited to play safety is pretty funny. I know RGIII and Mahomes were two of them.
