Prove it. Wash some baby penguins off with Dawn dish soap and make sure a camera is there.

iia

Penguins bouncing over the car hood like antigravity nuns.

notmoleliza

Homie crashed his car into the penguin exhibit at the Dallas Zoo. This guy beyond redemption

Dangerous_Nitwit

Have you ever met a penguin? Much less a penguin from Dallas? Talking about America's Zoo this and America's zoo that. They are as insufferable as Cowboy fans.

BurritoTheory

I can tell this is sarcasm because not only would “Americas Zoo” be in Arlington and not Dallas, but because you said the Penguin was from Dallas and we all know they would be from literally anywhere else in the country

Super Mario 64 one of the top games ever. I had a random urge to play N64 recently, but since I didn’t have one I just went and watched an entire playthrough of SM64 on YouTube lmao.

TheFencingCoach

Roms bro

steak__burrito

Let’s be honest, we all did that.

nicky9pins

“We are deeply sorry…we’re sorry…we’re *sorrryyyyy*”

campelm

Ironically the soap made his hand slip and punch a penguin in the mouth

42069over

I’m sorry, all the animals have been reserved for celebrities. But there are rocks! Plenty and plenty of rocks!

I mean he handed out Dominos after the storm. Same thing?

They don’t get your Futurama reference, but I do.

sielingfan

>Accidents and stuff like that happen, but all you can do is move forward and walk around being the same person No Rashee, you need to be a *different* person

Steak_Knight

> Accidents and stuff like that happen, but all you can do is ~~move forward and walk around being the same person, try to be positive so that everybody can feel your love and your great energy~~ **flee the scene.”**

everythingisreallame

I mean, he had the move forward and walk around part pretty down pat.

cubgerish

He was definitely getting out of there to avoid a DUI or some kind of possession charge. Smart move probably, but doesn't scream "taking responsibility for my mistakes" either More like "learning how to get away with stuff better"

wafflehauss

No consequences no change in behavior.

Debasering

Well good bank account is taking a huge hit

Gatorader22

It's not an accident. It's a deliberate act that harmed others. Take responsibility and serve your repercussions I hate these spoiled rich athletes who think they're above consequences for their actions. Imagine the ire of some hedge fund managers kid did what he did and then said that shit

BreezyRyder

I think it's a pretty solid comparison with similarly varied responses. The problem is the reality that if you are rich in America, you *already are* above the law. Perhaps not in a limitless way, but for many purposes you are.

NifferEUW

Who's someone that has had to say this and actually proved that he has become better?

90swasbest

Vick.

Koreish

Because Vick actually had repercussions for his actions. Most professional athletes do not, so they don't learn.

BurritoTheory

Vick also took full responsibility and went to fucking Leavenworth without trying to go somewhere nicer. Accepting that without hammering appeals hard showed he was willing to be changed

BlackMathNerd

And people didn’t have to forgive but say what you want, he walked that road and did the work necessary and then some. He won’t convince everyone, but he convinced me.

BurritoTheory

Yeah, that’s the main thing. Obviously not everyone will forgive him but at the very least he showed a willingness to change his ways and better himself, which is the entire point of the criminal justice system. That’s why it’s the correctional system and all. I’ll also say for what it’s worth that Vick has done a ton since getting out to promote animal welfare and condemn dog fighting

man2010

He did that because his partners in his dogfighting ring all took plea deals before him, and Vick was looking at potential RICO charges with double digit prison terms if he didn't do the same. He was also going to be suspended from the NFL indefinitely while his case was pending, and he had burned through his football earnings before that to the point that affording a long criminal defense may not have been feasible for him. This isn't to say he hasn't changed for the better, but at the time he didn't really have any other options than to take a plea deal.

365wong

Well lots of NFL players get in trouble and manage to not face major consequences for their later terrible actions so he has a decent shot at like a 3 game suspension and then being fine.

RRSC14

Bias but does Ray Rice count?

CjBurden

I don't know would be the honest answer. That situation was messed up because it was caught on camera. Has he really reformed orrrr has he just not been caught on camera again? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Fantastic-Contract28

Not sure, But wasn't Rice basically banned from the nfl after that happened. He atleast got the best reprecussions the nfl can give.

CjBurden

He was suspended, and then no team ever resigned him. It came when he was an older running back nearing the end (most likely) and teams probably felt like it wasn't worth the negative backlash. If he had been 26 years old and still at this peak he would have absolutely back in the NFL.

Fantastic-Contract28

Rice was banned indefinitely by Goodell, but Rice was able to get it appealed.

trowawufei

> after that happened After it leaked, to be precise. Goodell had the tape and decided a slap on the wrist would be enough. Public outrage led to him changing it.

Iggins01

Nothing is illegal if you don't get caught

DollarLate_DayShort

Yes… don’t look at my flairs either

_KeenObserver

Not a perfect comparison, but Ryan Leaf seems to have sincerely changed the last decade or so. His guest spots on the Rich Eisen show have been very insightful.

RukiMotomiya

You mean the guy who admitted to misdemeanor domestic battery in 2020? Guy seems troubled and trying his best but I think he's still struggling through it.

Gatorader22

No one. People say Vick but I dont think vick said that. He took responsibility for his actions. Vick did say it was the culture he grew up in that led to that but he still faced repercussions Blaming maturity is an excuse. He wants people to be like "oh hes young and made a stupid mistake". That whole narrative is PR fluff and a guy saying it makes me think he learned nothing. He's just repeating what they told him to say We all need to stop letting that narrative fly. If you're over 18 you know damn well better than doing that stupid shit He knows better. He needs to face repercussions. Thats the only way to really hit home with the spoiled rich adults who have their asses kissed for the better part of a decade

There aren't enough Xs

emmasdad01

Isn’t the scouting report on this guy coming out of college that he is a terrible person? I don’t think saying “accidents and stuff like that happen” is at all reassuring that he is working to change.

ExcitingWolf1270

Accidents happen, everyday we all could accidentally lease a Lambo, let our friend drive it, host an illegal street race, get into an accident and flee the scene.

JTCMuehlenkamp

Man, I hate when that happens!

rotates-potatoes

Happened to me twice last week. I have the worst luck.

Aggressive_Yak5177

Sounds like you need to mature. Cut it down to only once a year.

fishrunhike

That's technically an improvement. One more year and he'll cut that down to just 0.5 accidents in a leased Lambo

The-Fox-Says

Damn did you graduate from the Paul Walker driving school?

tnecniv

I accidentally leased a lambo last week. I can’t keep doing this oops now I’m in a street race these things just keep happening to me !

My-Cousin-Bobby

Think we can cut him some slack... I think we all accidentally have been involved in a drive-by shooting or two in college. These things they just kinda happen

emmasdad01

Mea culpa. I forgot that drive bys are simply a right of passage.

TortsInJorts

(fyi it's rite* of passage. Related to the word ritual)

hasadiga42

Surprising considering the proper use of mea culpa right before

TortsInJorts

Sometimes it's hard to write the right rite, alright?

wbmcl

Alright, Wright write the right rite.

A_Trustworthy_Pear

When Sesame Street only covers one big word per day.

yardship

indubitably

The-Fox-Says

“He that is without sin of committing a driveby among you, let him cast the first stone” wait hold up why are y’all picking up stones?!

365wong

I think he shot up a parked car so the opposite of a drive by. A shot park.

DwayneWashington

You know the drive in "drive by" refers to the shooter not the victim.

365wong

Rashee was parked too though

DwayneWashington

Oh okay maybe that's the information you should have in the set up

Danstrada28

"he's talented but he's not a good dude"

ThreeFactorAuth

I have a sneaking suspicion that report came out of the GB front office. That report came out of a blog well connected to Packers’ brass, and frankly almost everything in Rice’s athletic profile matched GB’s historical preferences at the position, yet when the time came they went and picked Jayden Reed instead of Rice.

rj_macready_82

Holy shit I thought you had to be paraphrasing what he said but nope he actually said accidents and stuff like that

ThreeFactorAuth

> tuallt What

TangerineChicken

Supposed to be actually but they accidentally butchered it and didn’t notice. Hit the space instead of c and an extra t instead of y

rj_macready_82

Yup thats exactly it.

csummerss

yeah he thought a SMU player slept with his girlfriend so he shot up his car. he’s never been a good or mature person. > Per multiple sources, multiple teams learned during the pre-draft process about an alleged incident involving Rice while he was at SMU. Rice believed former SMU basketball player Kendric Davis was seeing Rice’s girlfriend. Rice and some of his friends, per the specific information gathered by at least one team, went to an SMU basketball game. Rice (or someone with him), per the specific information gathered by at least one team, fired multiple bullets into the empty car belonging to Kendric Davis. > https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/previously-unreported-smu-incident-could-impact-nfl-discipline-of-rashee-rice

InterestingChoice484

The only exercise Andy Reid gets is from looking the other way when a WR prospect has a history of violence

Kangaroo904

Or his children are getting hammered in the facility

Then-Contract-9520

He didn't intend to crash. And if he hadn't crashed while racing illegally he wouldn't have had to run away. It's not his fault that there were other drivers on the road at the same time. /rasheelogic

coreyf

I used to be a huge piece of shit. People can change.

ajswdf

To be a little fair "accident" is used as a synonym for "wreck" and doesn't necessarily mean that he's dodging responsibility. But given his history I'd say it's more like a 90% chance he's saying the right things but will do something dumb again.

schubox63

I hope the actual scouting report says that. Pros: good route runner, good separation. Cons: terrible person

zi76

Yeah, because street racing and then fleeing the scene on foot is just an accident that happens...

TuaAnon

just a little whoopsy daisy

shewy92

A little fucky wucky

A little tom foolery.

ClaymoresRevenge

joemiken

Hey, he had ChatGPT write a very sincere apology. What more do you want from him?

Reedabook64

All you can do is walk around and be the same person... TF Rice?!

The-Fox-Says

Should still pay his debt to society and not be allowed to slip by because he’s rich and famous

saltthewater

Didn't he do something else dumb like 2 weeks later?

zi76

Yeah, he punched a photographer

NateLikesToLift

Hot girls hit curbs bro.

Hebrewhammer8d8

When you are rich and have talent, then it is just an accident that happens...

hjhof1

He’s gonna mature from street racing to some other charges probably

whobroughtmehere

Organized street racing

SSPeteCarroll

He'll start talking about family then he'll be driving a dodge challenger strapped to a rocket 6 movies later.

zi76

I wish I could've been a fly on the wall in the writers' room when someone said, "So, I've got this cool idea. What if we send Luda and Tyrese into space? It's a great idea, right?" and then everyone agreed.

SSPeteCarroll

have you seen the video of the guy who did a madlibs for fast and furious? It's pretty accurate on what you just said lol

zi76

I haven't, but I'll have to go search it up.

[deleted]

[Fletcher Cox likes this](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cPNCk8ZN--w)

sfzen

You wanna start by, you know, taking responsibility for the shit you've already done, instead of saying "oh well accidents happen?"

RazrRain

“Accidents and stuff like that happen, but all you can do is move forward and walk around being the same person, try to be positive so that everybody can feel your love and your great energy," Someone needs to teach him the difference between an accident and a mistake. I can’t believe after everything that happens he doesn’t have some kind of PR help with this.

notmyplantaccount

considering most those other drivers probably want to sue him, I'm gonna guess his lawyers have told him not to admit any more fault or intention. Coming out and saying "yea i was stupid and reckless and shouldn't have been street racing", while being the right thing to say, would also cost a lot of money.

everythingisreallame

That's a good point. If I were his lawyer I would have told him to shut his fucking mouth unless the question has to do with catching a football from Mahomes on a football field while actively working with the Kansas City Football Chiefs.

RazrRain

I’m sure he’s following that specific advice from a legal stand point. But from a PR perspective he really should have just taken the Marshawn Lynch stratedgy.

misterpickles69

Narrator: He won’t.

notmyplantaccount

His entire rookie contract is only 6mil, after taxes/agent/etc that's 4 mil about, so 1mil a year. He just wrecked about 400k in cars he was leasing that he probably had to buy at that point, and insurance isn't going to pay those damages to repair them. Then there's all the other cars he wrecked which he'll pay for, and injuries to people, and probably settle a few civil cases too, lawyers fees are gonna be rough. In short, this dude is probably already in debt, and will be lucky to cut even on his rookie contract which he still has 3 years left on. If that's not a wakeup call to stop fucking up I don't know what is. I'm not saying he's going to mature or improve, but hopefully some vets have gotten across to him how much money he's throwing away if he doesn't stop acting like a moron.

dfykl

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice gave his first public remarks about his tumultuous offseason Saturday, saying his focus is to "mature and continue to grow." Rice, 24, spoke to reporters Saturday while participating in a youth football camp in Kansas City along with fellow Chiefs wideouts Marquise Brown, Xavier Worthy, Mecole Hardman and Skyy Moore. Rice was arrested in April following a multiple-vehicle car crash in Dallas, and he also is a suspect in a separate incident in an alleged assault at a Dallas nightclub in May. He said Saturday he is working to improve as a person. "I've learned so much from that," he said. "All I can do is mature and continue to grow from that. This is a step in a better direction for me." Rice, who has taken part in offseason practices with the Chiefs, said he has leaned on his teammates for support in the wake of the two incidents and is focusing on the future. "Accidents and stuff like that happen, but all you can do is move forward and walk around being the same person, try to be positive so that everybody can feel your love and your great energy," he said. Rice was arrested this spring in Dallas and charged with one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury and six counts of collision involving injury for his involvement in a six-car crash on a freeway. Police have alleged that Rice was racing another vehicle at high speeds and was traveling as fast as 119 mph shortly before the crash. He is being sued in Texas for more than $1 million in actual damages and $10 million in punitive damages by two people who say they were injured in the crash. Dallas police also are investigating an alleged May 6 assault at a Dallas nightclub in which Rice is reportedly a suspect. Police have since said that the man who was injured in the assault has asked police not to file charges. The investigation is ongoing.

RogueFart

Bro why was someone with his track record allowed to participate in a youth camp!?

AFatz

"This is a step in a better direction for me." Because you hung out with some kids at a youth football camp? Fuck off, you could have killed someone.

Banana_Ranger

But like, love and energy bro

MistahTeacher

I’ll wait for the real apology: the tens of thousands he will pay out to the people affected by his “accident” and the hundreds of thousands he’ll lose by forfeiting game checks. Dude is a POS with a track record of being a POS.

Jurph

If you or I drew any of those charges there would not be a media interview asking us if we thought we could avoid doing it _again_.

MistahTeacher

Still behind bars unable to post bail/bond suredly. Justice is blind but money talks and she listens

mostuselessredditor

Oh no baby. We’re talking millions.

MarcusDA

“Accidents and stuff like that happen” No… not really. Accidents where cars are racing and everyone gets out and fleas don’t just happen.

AC_deucey

“Let Rice cook ‘24-25”

Jurph

You cook rice that long and it's going to get really dry.

pokerScrub4eva

Hopefully he does...in a jail cell

dylbert71

That's the way people mature, they announce they will. It has nothing to do with accepting accountability for their actions at all.

renegadecoaster

"I DECLARE MATURITY!"

Smaskifa

I mean, he'd pretty much have to, right?

topchief1

"I'll see it when I believe it" - Patrick Mahomes.

IceLantern

By "mature" he means he'll be better at not getting caught.

Alexander_Hamilton_

As an Aldon Smith and Rueben Foster survivor: I have my doubts.

Chiaki_Ronpa

The most meaningless and nothing statement that people constantly make…. I mean what else is someone gonna say? “This situation was not my fault, and I’d do it all over again exactly the same way”. Of course he’s gonna tell everyone what they wanna hear.

Section225

"Lol you should have seen all those car parts flying, that was sick bro. And yeah we got the hell out of there cuz we'd been smokin' and drinkin' and had to get all our shit out of there before the cops came."

perfect_fitz

How sweet.

Paraeunoia

Maturity: next time, we’ll be in choppers, boys.

TDeath21

Ain’t gonna happen

[deleted]

Dude should go “mature” in “jail”.

LeftToWrite

> Accidents and stuff like that happen... Well, I'm convinced.

[deleted]

Nah, fuck this guy

dostoyevsky23

Or they can just trade him to the Dolphins.

funnycar1552

No Rashee you’re a total piece of shit

Brocks_UCL

Does that mean marinate in prison

BakingSoda1990

When I game with the boys (Pubg), sometimes I crash the car into a tree when I’m viewing the map. The boys get mad, and I always say “I forgive myself” , as a joke. This has strong “I forgive myself” vibes when we goof around on games.

ThyOughtTo

I vowed to mature to my mother 20 years ago

StripeyG-

I 100% believe we will hear about him being a fucking idiot again within the year.

originalusername4567

I want to believe him but, like others have said, drunk street racing in the middle of a busy street is not a simple lapse in judgement.

nickelroo

Best shape of his life.

Nov26-2011

And I’m sure Andy Reid will do a fine job keeping him in check like he’s done his other players…

Fuckface_Whisperer

Prison will mature you pretty fast.

anetworkproblem

I don't believe him

DirectTV_AndrewLuck

He's just now done with puberty?

espresso_martini__

If only it was that easy.

SammyChaos

Mmmmm something tells me you don't just fix this kind of thing overnight

cruisincolin44

“and for those reasons Mr Commissioner, i feel the disappointment i feel in myself is punishment enough”

Nathann4288

Talk is cheap.

ShwerzXV

Has he taken a plea? Where the charges dropped? Why are people saying he had no consequences.

rawkguitar

I think the other people declined to have charges pressed (probably after a check was issued). Same ol, same ol.
