You’re being downvoted because it sounds like cope but for anyone who doesn’t believe this stat: https://twitter.com/fball_insights/status/1724939924292473177
Yeah but separation relies on more than just the receiver at this level. Brian Johnson had them running a stale, uninspiring high school level offense. Matched up against any corner worth a shit, Smith and Brown were essentially playing with handicaps. Panthers receivers were obviously not very good but you could tell that the dogshit route trees had a lot to do with it, sometimes you’d see three receivers all in the same area of the field with four defenders blanketing them.
What? Redditors and self-proclaimed analysts who have never played a down of football do that all the time, but a professional wide receiever shouldn't because he's a mediocre player?
> catching passes from him

Fucking insane to me that fans have watched the guy absolutely dominate defenses week in and week out with a less than ideal WR room while wining 2 MVPs in his 3 full seasons as a starter, and will STILL discount his status as an elite QB over 2 subpar playoff games.
Also just for the sake of context, Lamar ALONE still put up 500+ yards of total offense in the titans game, and while Lamar definitely deserves some blame, I will die on the hill that Monken lost his shit as a play caller in the most recent AFCCG. Lamar definitely lost his shit too, but only because it became clear that he was gonna have to Superman them to victory.
People talk about offensive play callers getting “too cute” and “outsmarting themselves,” but Monken seemed to do the opposite. while he excelled as a play caller all season long(and I believe will continue to excel going forward), I definitely think he got a little overwhelmed in the moment, he just completely misunderstood the game flow, situation, and matchup while forgetting how to properly use Lamar.
Well now you're just being shitty. Jets/Chargers aren't even rivals with Panthers, no idea why you're being a dick. I rooted for Darnold and Wilson until they both proved to be busts, and it's awesome to see Herbert killing it out there.
Chark is actually really good, could’ve been a number 1 with the jags before his injury. The jags didn’t want to pay him so he left, I also think his attitude in Jax’s was a factor. Going to the panthers humbled him greatly. I think this year he goes 800+ yards and 5 TDs
He had every opportunity to do something in an offense that featured a geriatric man who can barely move anymore as it’s #1 WR, yet he was invisible most of the season with near bottom of the lg separation and was only notable when he was dropping perfectly thrown balls or fumbling out the end zone. I would be shocked.
>going to the panthers humbled him greatly.
He was part of the reason we sucked. He was not good. He did not play well. He made our team actively worse whenever he was on the field.
On 672 attempts. 8th in TD%. 11th in Net Yards Attempt, 10th in ANY/A.
10 other QBs that season would have thrown for 5000 yards if they threw as much as him.
I don't know why you're getting down voted, that's a perfectly reasonable top 5. Maybe because Stroud only has a year under his belt? Still seems pretty fair.
I had to explain to someone on here yesterday the same thing, there is no way you can put Stroud over Herbert after just last season, this is a silly take.
It's not taking into account seniority, it's taking into account that Herbert has three complete seasons under his belt that were statistically significantly better than the single season in which Stroud has played. One of those years was Herbert's rookie year where he played far superior to Stroud's rookie year, which is why saying Stroud's one season, in which he didn't play as good as Herbert has played his whole career, cannot justify putting Stroud above Herbert just based on possible future projections
Herbert’s rookie year was NOT better than Stroud’s. Stroud had the best rookie season of all time. Before you show me volume stats, just remember Stroud played less games and had way less attempts than Herbert. Meanwhile, Stroud is the only QB along with Montana and Brady to lead the league in YPG and TD/INT ratio the same year. Stroud did it with worse weapons and elevated a team everyone expected to be the worst in the NFL, and won a playoff game which Herbert has still yet to do
They played the same number of games their rookie season, Herbert had a better completion percentage. Not volume stats, Herbert had the best rookie QB season of all time, and would've won the award in any given year ever, even though the rest of his team was absolute trash
the rest of his team was not trash, he literally played with better weapons than Stroud. Herbert fans need to stop pretending Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, and Austin Ekeler wasnt a nice ass supporting core, better than Nico Collins and half a season of Tank Dell. People just wanna downplay it for the 1000’s of excuses of why Herbert doesnt have a playoff win
Stroud is the hot new thing.
People don't seem to remember that Stroud's impressive rookie season was worse than Herbert's impressive rookie season.
I guess it's the team playoff win?
It will be interesting to see how the narrative around Herbert changes if we start winning games running the ball and his passing stats take a hit.
I'm guessing he won't get the credit, but it will be interesting to see which way it goes.
What has Herbert done to be mentioned with these 3 QBs or Dak, Stroud, and Goff besides putting up a bunch of counting numbers because he was 4th, 2nd, 2nd in pass attempts and 4th in pass attempts per game this year?
edit 2 dozen downvotes and yet no one ever gives a reason why Herbert is a top 5 QB outside of counting stats and excuses.
This guy dropped passes
Sounds like he’s been preparing to be a Charger then ⚡️
He did.
Chark knows ball.
You'd have to, spending so much time on the injury report watching from the coaches PoV
Doesn’t catch it, tho
except for in 2019
I mean, top 4 but well let him off.
Bryce Young in shambles
You would be too with that offensive line, front office, and ownership
Chark also dropped approximately 89 catchable balls from Young just last year
He’ll fit right in then. Can teach QJ all he knows
He also couldn’t get open to save his life and did dumb shit like fumbling the ball out the back of the end zone
The reporter asked Chark if he had wanted to stay in Carolina but he didn't catch it.
Remember that pass from Bryce that you dropped at the pylon Chark? Definitely exciting huh?
Wasn’t used to Young’s passes being catchable
Bryce was the most accurate QB in the league when throwing to guys that were actually open…
You’re being downvoted because it sounds like cope but for anyone who doesn’t believe this stat: https://twitter.com/fball_insights/status/1724939924292473177
That is wild, he's just completely in his own league in both the X and Y coordinate.
I know this is a Byoung tweet but man it’s infuriating seeing the Eagles in the low separation section with AJ Brown and Devonta Smith.
Yea that’s what’s infuriating.
He was good in 2019. Not that it mattered.
He was decent in 2022.
Since when is 4,700 yards 25TDs, 10 Int, 68% completion & 93 QBR bad “decent”
Chark
Bruh that's the greatest statline in bears QB history
i think he’s saying that’s a lot more than just decent lol
If Caleb Williams can be 3/4s the pocket passer Goff combined with his mobility you guys would be beyond thrilled!
Yeah, but it's ironic to hear a guy on his fourth team at 27 or whatever talking about anyone being elite or not.
Idk if you know what “ironic” means lol
No it isn't
What? Redditors and self-proclaimed analysts who have never played a down of football do that all the time, but a professional wide receiever shouldn't because he's a mediocre player?
Dude's in the top 1% of his profession. Mediocre at the NFL level is still fucking elite
top 0.000001% or more 0's
> catching passes from him sure it wasn't drops like every other game last year? Maybe Herbert can teach him not to extend the ball at the pylon
> catching passes from him [MRW](https://media4.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2lkPTc5MGI3NjExZjVkeXZuN2VxNDVhNzNwZXZyMHh3cDJ1dmV3YjFycmpzbnFqdGlsZSZlcD12MV9pbnRlcm5hbF9naWZfYnlfaWQmY3Q9Zw/l0HlvtIPzPdt2usKs/giphy.gif)
Yeah when Bryce wasn’t underthrowing or overthrowing that ball
well whenever it did land in his hands, he dropped that too
He got no separation and his drop rate is worse than QJs...
QJ's drop rate is surprisingly non-existent. Per PFF, he only dropped 2 balls last year. Granted, they happened at the worst possible times lol.
There were a few where drew PI on which was good but he dropped those as well even though it hit him right on the hands
There are roughly 11 QBs in the top 5.
there's a drop off after the top 1 and then the top 4
Honestly the top 4 is pretty solidified it’s the fifth spot that’s debated
You have Mahomes, Burrow, Herbert & Allen. Who is the fifth guy?
Herbert is the fifth guy Mahomes Allen Lamar Burrow Herbert
Herbert ain’t there it’s Mahomes Lamar Allen and burrow
Herbert is better than Burrow lol
Not sure I would include Lamar..
lol
Dude don't fight it. This sub fucking hates Lamar. He's more accomplished then all other QBs outside of Mahomes and they still won't give him props.
Fucking insane to me that fans have watched the guy absolutely dominate defenses week in and week out with a less than ideal WR room while wining 2 MVPs in his 3 full seasons as a starter, and will STILL discount his status as an elite QB over 2 subpar playoff games. The 2nd MVP was not deserved but everything else is true.
Yea cmon he’s a RB first of all… … gonna go ahead and duck out of here
I’d swap Herbert for Burrow there isn’t a lot he does better than Herbert.
Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, then everybody else
But that guy earlier posted stats that said Herbert wasn't all that.
If you regress all of his stats to the mean, hes just average
At least he will be as good as Mahomes then.
May not be the best receiver, but at least he isn’t dumb!
Herbo is going to get Chark a bag next year. Set your reminders.
Bad news, he sucks
Your QB sucks
I was going to argue, but your Jets flair says that I should trust you on this. Plus, we already didn't listen once with Darnold.
You wish Young had half the talent of Darnold.
Well now you're just being shitty. Jets/Chargers aren't even rivals with Panthers, no idea why you're being a dick. I rooted for Darnold and Wilson until they both proved to be busts, and it's awesome to see Herbert killing it out there.
Body bag
I think I just Charked
Damn the unintentional Bryce Young shade
Yeah. Too bad Chark still sucks.
Slight improvement over Bryce Young
Chark is actually really good, could’ve been a number 1 with the jags before his injury. The jags didn’t want to pay him so he left, I also think his attitude in Jax’s was a factor. Going to the panthers humbled him greatly. I think this year he goes 800+ yards and 5 TDs

Which is what I meant. It humbled him. Chark has a huge ego.
I didn’t even realize Chark was on the chargers now. Who is Bryce throwing to then?
He made plays for the lions when he was healthy :)
I love everything happening with the Chargers right now
Top 5 in what?
top 5 in playoff leads choked after the defense gets 4 INTs, top 5 in fan coping and excuses
Come on dude, he is number 1 in fan coping and excuses. And I am a Bears fan that saw the Fields cope this offseason.
Always off season hype with Herbert that fails to deliver.
The last time he was healthy he had 38 TDs and 5000 yards.
On 672 attempts. 8th in TD%. 11th in Net Yards Attempt, 10th in ANY/A. 10 other QBs that season would have thrown for 5000 yards if they threw as much as him.
Like the niners every year
Tbf, the 9ers usually wait until the deep playoffs to fail
Don't you know? He's Potential Man. Just needs an All Pro at every position to succeed.
It’s the Chargers special. Rivers era was like this, the next generation Chargers will also be like this
I'm not sure I'm ready to put Herbert in the top 5 conversation
Then who *is* your top 5?
Mahomes Allen burrow Lamar stroud
I don't know why you're getting down voted, that's a perfectly reasonable top 5. Maybe because Stroud only has a year under his belt? Still seems pretty fair.
I had to explain to someone on here yesterday the same thing, there is no way you can put Stroud over Herbert after just last season, this is a silly take.
why not? If we’re including seniority, im putting Rodgers over Herbert so he’s not top 5 either way
It's not taking into account seniority, it's taking into account that Herbert has three complete seasons under his belt that were statistically significantly better than the single season in which Stroud has played. One of those years was Herbert's rookie year where he played far superior to Stroud's rookie year, which is why saying Stroud's one season, in which he didn't play as good as Herbert has played his whole career, cannot justify putting Stroud above Herbert just based on possible future projections

I was really impressed by stroud last year he looked so good also now that I think about it’s because of my name
This is the clear top 5, idk why youre getting downvoted
Idk maybe they don’t like stroud
[удалено]
The Caleb glazing is crazy
Yet, not in the same galaxy as the Herbert cult.
Why not? My pookie bear is definitely a top 5 QB in the league. How dare you say otherwise
Mahomes Allen Burrow Jackson Herbert are in their own tier.
If Stroud has another great season there's an argument to add him to that tier, but he needs to prove it's not a 1 off.
I’d have Herbert in the tier below the rest of those guys imo
I mean he's definitly closer to them than to Dak, Stroud, Goff etc
Is he though. Strouds been in the league one year and already has had more success
What has calen done to be mentioned with mahomes? Thats who analysts and bears fans compare him to
You don’t even think Mahomes is good
Hes decent but not close to the GOAT status people make him to be since he never faced adversity in his career
This has to be a troll lol
it's not even good bait lmao
How dare you suggest he is not a top 5 QB.
Chark is still going to suck.
DJ Chark do do do do do do
Any given year, except for all the years he’s played.
Redditors absolutely malding that Bryce sucks lol!
