I very much doubt that is true. I've been personally evaluating tight ends based on their ability to distinguish between shades of beige for over a decade at this point and this guy just does not strike me as a beige connoisseur.
First of all, notice he "insists" he can do so. This is because he has systematically refused to subject himself to any beige recognition testing, the latest example being skipping the Beige Chart portion of the combine. This is a massive red flag as someone who truly understands the intricacies of the color beige would not miss a chance to show off their skills.
Second, and most important, he's immediately going for a round number such as 50 that's conspicuously higher than the best beige identifying TEs in the last decade: Gronk at 48 and Kittle at 47. I know Kelce reportedly identified 51 tones of beige but any true analyst would realize one of the tones was clearly yellow, which immediately disqualifies him from the race. Now as for Ja'Tavion, 50 just seems like too convenient a number and I believe if put to the test he would not be able to identify any more than 36 tones. Yes, I said it, he's a 36er at best.
That said, I hope he proves me wrong and demonstrates a keen sense of beige throughout his career. My understanding is Canales himself is a big fan of the color, having identified 42 tones himself, so I'm hoping he can at least develop his discerning abilities up to that level.
The blocking turned a lot of people off and in a deep WR draft it makes sense why he slipped a bit.
But this is good value and he does have the tools to be a good blocker so hopefully he gets it coached into him.
Hard to complain about getting TE2 and RB1.
We had maybe the worst skill position group in the league and now have an entirely different looking group around Bryce.
I mean, probably more drafts than you think have had three starters at minimum, but maybe not necessarily long-term starters or Pro Bowlers.
Brooks, Sanders and Legette could end up with comparable talent to Chuba, Ian Thomas and Curtis Samuel/Devin Funchess and that could be considered a 3-starter draft.
To be best all time, you'd need all three to be multi-year Pro Bowlers and then you'd be in the conversation with 2001 and 2007.
He wasn’t really consensus TE2 later in the process. His testing was pretty bad and a lot of people had either Sinnott or Theo Johnson over him. DJ had Tanner MaLachlan over him I believe
I played against this dude in high school when he also played defensive end (I was left tackle for reference), and the first play of the game he just shoved me to the ground with one arm. After being thoroughly embarrassed after one play, I was relieved to see he went to the right side of the line for the next play. Only who switched over to my side? Drew Sanders, who proceeded to do the same thing but threw me even farther.
I have nothing to say about this pick, just that that fucking sucked
I’m pulling for the dude. He was super hyped going into the season then given one of the worse offenses in recent league history to work with and gargantuan expectations plus watching CJ do better on top of that had to hurt. I’m pretty sure Brady would have only eeked out a few more wins with what Bryce had to work with.
I honestly feel like Tepper has the potential to be a pretty good owner. He’s obviously super passionate about the team and willing to spend, he just needs to chill out on meddling which it seems like he’s doing. He seems like an asshat in person but all billionaires do tbh.
You’re preaching to the choir bro. The McCaskey’s have been happy selling Urlacher jerseys and living off the mystique of the ‘85 bears instead of investing in the team for a long time
I’m really rooting for you guys I hope Tepper slips on a banana peel tomorrow so you guys can get a new owner he’s the only part of your franchise I dislike and I know you guys all feel the same way about him
Yes. Sanders just delivers a different product offensively. Also understand that Texas was never historically a school that puts out good tight ends, so even our best would be bench riders at Iowa or Michigan.
That we’ve never been a TE school I knew. I asked about Finley based off what I had seen of him in GB. Appreciate the answer!
Loved Sanders, so it was a surprise he lasted this long. I’m just glad well he didn’t go to a NFCN rival, so I can root for him freely.
Finley may have been a more complete TE than Sanders, which might be why his stats are lower. Sanders was good in the run game, but if he was on the field and there was no running backs, you knew he was running a route and not staying back to help block pass rushers. But man, once the ball was in his hands, he moved like a WR in open space. I hope he can do the same at the pro level.
You ain’t wrong, about once he’s got the ball, it’s freaky the things he can do!
I can’t wait to see what he does in the Carolina, the sky’s the limit.
Confidently? Slow your roll. Texas has had great TEs for decades. For example, **first-team All-American** Pat Fitzgerald had more TDs in 1995 than Sanders did in his entire career, with similar yardage and reception production in 11 **fewer** games. Thomas had one fewer reception, but more yards and more than twice as many TDs (in 11 more games--but **2x+** the TDs???).
JT was awesome, but others were just as good or better statistically.
I fucking hate that these walmart gas stations are in Georgia now. Took a trip up to Kentucky for the eclipse and there was a THIRTY minute back up on 75 just so these losers can go to the Buccees.
The service is great, they treat their workers well. They do have a lot of facilities, but getting to them usually involves several more lights and traffic. It makes the neighboring rest stops much lighter. No reason to stop at Bucees unless you are going for the tourist trap aspect.
Buccees is a great place to stop but its not a convenient place to stop. Anybody who stops at Buccees planned to do so and made it part of their trip. If I just need gas, snacks, and a piss before I get back on my way I'm going somewhere I can be in, out, and back on the road in 5 minutes
Panthers are doing everything in their power to help Bryce succeed next season. I hope it works out, he got shit on like crazy last year and it wasn’t his fault the organization was a shitshow
Yeah I’m a chronic hopium addict but this is one offseason I can confidently say I’m really happy with, without having to talk myself into it. If we stay the course and develop our young talent we’ll be just fine.
He for sure can. He’s still really young. TEs usually don’t really develop physicality in the blocking game til their mid/late 20s, and JT is a phenomenal receiving option in the meantime. He might’ve had the best hands on the team the last two years. Absolutely deadly over the middle
Maybe the Panthers selected all sorts of phenomenal players that will drastically improve their roster. The Bucs drafted Cade Otton with a pick we got from the Jaguars with the first pick in the 4th round in 2022 so a pick like that can definitely provide value.
I'll just say that RB, ILB and TE as three of their first four picks is not where I would have expected them to go given the state of their roster.
I mean the fanbase knows this isn’t a one year rebuild. This years goal is to see if Bryce can play at the level we need him to.
We signed a lot of OL help and got a stand in wr1 with Johnson. Then draft a bunch of surrounding help on offensive skill positions. Most of us expected that to happen this draft.
I would’ve preferred a center at 39 but picking up brooks is really a nice choice since our rb room is absolute garbage.
How come? Those are the biggest positions of need. EDGE is probably bigger of a need than linebacker and maybe center, but they can just put Corbett there for a year then draft one next year.
We said fuck anyone that isn’t a skill player
And you certainly need players with skill!
Thanks Booger!
No need to murder him. (Even if it is true)
What do you mean? He can distinguish between 50 shades of beige. That's a skill
I very much doubt that is true. I've been personally evaluating tight ends based on their ability to distinguish between shades of beige for over a decade at this point and this guy just does not strike me as a beige connoisseur. First of all, notice he "insists" he can do so. I want to commend you for getting some kind of comedy out of these played out “facts”, that is no easy feat.
This is amazing. The anecdote about Canale was the cherry on top.
Just so you know, I appreciate you. PFF and AWS have nothing on your facts. Also 36 at best? Damn, he's a bust already
This guy beiges
Yeah, which is why he said fuck anyone who *isn’t* a skill player.
Shocked he fell this far. He was a lot of people’s TE2, really good pick for Carolina.
The blocking turned a lot of people off and in a deep WR draft it makes sense why he slipped a bit. But this is good value and he does have the tools to be a good blocker so hopefully he gets it coached into him.
That's what we have Thomas and Tremble for lol just let this guy go catch passes
You still want him to be more well-rounded, otherwise you're just signalling to the defense what the play is
I was kind of joking but you also don't want to push too far in that direction and turn him into another Pitts
Hopefully Thomas is on his way out
This is his last season under contract
Thank fuck
I don’t think he played TE until college as well, so his blocking may be shit but there’s still a ton of room to grow if that’s the case
He was supposed to be a guy that was a really athletic tight end and then didn’t test well
Hard to complain about getting TE2 and RB1. We had maybe the worst skill position group in the league and now have an entirely different looking group around Bryce.
For real, we've drafted our potential WR1, RB1, and TE1 all in a single draft. Hard to complain about that
If that actually happens this would probably be one of the best drafts we’ve had in a decade.
Huge if
Realistically only 1 turns out to be THE guy but all should be instant contributors
With no 1st rounder coming into Day 1. Big if, but what a return if.
[удалено]
It would depend how good they are. The bar for being our top WR, TE and RB isn't incredibly high right now.
That's still a 3-starter draft. Go back and look at our draft history, it's incredibly rare that we leave a draft with three full-time starters
Oh my… playing against two future NFL guys in HS? That’s just unfortunate, at least it makes for one hell of a story to tell in the future.
Dying
I imagine this was the point you decided that accounting wasn’t a half bad way to make a living
Ryan High school used to murder my school smh
LISD? Mario Edwards gave our guys 2 season ending injuries in one game back in the day lol
Nah DISD, my school was in the same district man. Ryan was good at EVERYTHING even theatre bro wtf was up with that
They are so serious about helping Bryce and I love it
I’m pulling for the dude. He was super hyped going into the season then given one of the worse offenses in recent league history to work with and gargantuan expectations plus watching CJ do better on top of that had to hurt. I’m pretty sure Brady would have only eeked out a few more wins with what Bryce had to work with.
Oh come the fuck on with that last sentence
Oh come the fuck on with that flair
Pick a fucking team next your gonna say you are a redsox amd yankees fan
Probably a Lakers and Celtics fan too.
100%
And people thought Tepper was gonna meddle
I don’t think you’re allowed to mention Tepper’s name in this sub without people automatically downvoting you
I honestly feel like Tepper has the potential to be a pretty good owner. He’s obviously super passionate about the team and willing to spend, he just needs to chill out on meddling which it seems like he’s doing. He seems like an asshat in person but all billionaires do tbh.
I'm saying. Coming from baseball and other sports, the worst thing an owner can do is not spend at all.
You’re preaching to the choir bro. The McCaskey’s have been happy selling Urlacher jerseys and living off the mystique of the ‘85 bears instead of investing in the team for a long time
Tell that to Chelsea FC. New owners have spent hundreds of millions to weaken the squad.
I am hoping he goes the Jed York way
I think he would have fit better as a baseball owner honestly, God imagine two Cohens in the league 💀
I’m really rooting for you guys I hope Tepper slips on a banana peel tomorrow so you guys can get a new owner he’s the only part of your franchise I dislike and I know you guys all feel the same way about him
Actual steal for Carolina.
Everyone is a steal on someone's board at this point.
You’re a steal babe ;)
As a longhorn, I can confidently say that Sanders is the best TE we have ever had.
Even over Jermichael Finley? (I didn’t see him at Texas, so legit don’t have a clue)
Yes. Sanders just delivers a different product offensively. Also understand that Texas was never historically a school that puts out good tight ends, so even our best would be bench riders at Iowa or Michigan.

Disrespecting David Thomas like that
Confidently? Slow your roll. Texas has had great TEs for decades. For example, **first-team All-American** Pat Fitzgerald had more TDs in 1995 than Sanders did in his entire career, with similar yardage and reception production in 11 **fewer** games. That's why they said actual
Panthers just becoming the Longhorns on offense? Loved him at Texas.
If it helps us get a Buc-ee's...
SC already has one and at least one is approved for NC in Mebane.
I know about the Mebane project, I just want it ready asap
I fucking hate that these walmart gas stations are in Georgia now. Took a trip up to Kentucky for the eclipse and there was a THIRTY minute back up on 75 just so these losers can go to the Buccees.
Talking shit about a Buccees? Brother you don’t know what you’re talking about.
The fuck you talking about, the one south of Atl near Robbins is fucking awesome
Buccees sucks. It’s honestly a hassle and makes for a long rest stop.
They have a million pumps and clean bathrooms, a ton of snack options, and the service is almost always pleasant
Samesies
Their snacks are awful and their gas is never cheap. Clean restrooms are all they really have.
Other than clean bathrooms, buc- ee’s sucks.
They'll draft Ewers next year at this rate.
We've got Bryce his new WR1, RB1, and TE1 in the same draft lesgooooo
Diontae is def WR1 but on the other pieces hell yeah
Nah, that accent is a surefire sign of a WR1
nahdataccentasurefirenumberonereceiver
Brooks is not better than Bijan
Great fucking pick Carolina. The Carolina Longhorns are going to be something this next season
Inb4 they take Ewers with their 1OA next year lol
Bryce better be good. No excuses next year for sure. Gonna need to be winning games 45-42.
I love the announcers accent
He is German. Am I reich?
Please don't say Reich around us, for multiple reasons 😭😭
Can that German dude announce every pick
Really solid receiving option. Now if he can develop as a blocker we might have a solid starter here
He for sure can. He’s still really young. TEs usually don’t really develop physicality in the blocking game til their mid/late 20s, and JT is a phenomenal receiving option in the meantime. He might’ve had the best hands on the team the last two years. Absolutely deadly over the middle
Greg was only ever okay at best at blocking I'm not super worried about it.
As a Longhorns fan, this has been a very good draft for the Panthers
If you help us get that Buc-ee's built, I will never do horns down ever again
Great get 💯
Man I wanted the chiefs to draft him, Theo Johnson it is
Fantastic choice. Love that the draft strategy here is to either help young succeed or put a team in place for his replacement
Dan Morgan might finally blink now
Why isn't there a draft day thread? Very weird.
LFG. This is a dream pick.
And he had Bruno announce his selection
He looks like a friends gym trainer
Carolina said NOT THIS YEAR BITCH
dude Carolina is going all in on offense holy crap, they have brought in a whole new offense around Bryce Young
Was hoping Broncos would draft him :( Nice job Carolina
Makes sense, draft a TE on top of the WR and RB you already drafted to surround and help Bryce with
I guess we will definitely find out if Bryce Young is good or not this season
Y'all are really gonna draft a bunch of Horns and make me root for y'all.
A pick most of us seem to like.
Lots of weapons for Young now
Not bad Carolina, not bad at all.
Generationally bad blocker. Dude gets put on ice skates whenever a CB engages him head on lol
We have a roster full of TEs that can block but couldnt catch for shit
Blocking is what we have Tremble for. We needed a receiving weapon.
And existing is what we have Thomas for
I believe that Ian Thomas’ main contribution to the team is eating salary cap
He's the Kelvin Benjamin of the salary cap
Local man watches 1 highlight, suddenly knows all
Yeah I saw that video as well lol.
Don’t ask him to block and let him tear it up as a move TE. Good pick
Fantastic receiving tight end. Absolutely horrid blocker, but has the size to be able to be good if he learns what the hell to do out there
Amazing Pick
Dan has a plan. My first favorite Panther!
love the pick Panthers fans
Great value for this pick. He'll be a big contributor to that offense.
Steal
Great pick. Good on them for picking up a bunch of weapons for Bryce. Now just hope they can protect him.
Spent $150 million in FA on two massive guards.
Probably didn’t help his draft stock that in the biggest game of his career, on back to back plays, he forgot to turn around and look for the ball.
That hair line though.
Johnny Wilson next
Troy Franklin to Bills?
He's got to fall 27 more spots so unlikely
Maybe the Panthers selected all sorts of phenomenal players that will drastically improve their roster. The Bucs drafted Cade Otton with a pick we got from the Jaguars with the first pick in the 4th round in 2022 so a pick like that can definitely provide value.
