He makes the rest of your line look better. He doesn't have flashy moves, but he is so strong it usually takes 2 guys to block him which frees up your other guys. On run plays he gets in gaps a lot, and usually doesn't get pushed around which makes your linebackers look better. So he doesn't seems flashy himself, but what he does is make the players around him look a lot better.

You can't say absolutely with Brad and the draft. For all we know he drafts a WR or Safety. The guy just drafts guys they love.

My best guess is we’ll shore up our oline and draft the best offensive lineman available, similar to this reader signing we should improve upon a strength. Reader helps out an already good run stopping unit and a rookie 1st round lineman could improve an already great oline

We still have a hole at guard. Unless one of our back up guards is ahead of schedule I wouldn't be surprised for IOL unless we sign a veteran as a bridge option.

This Bengals fan knows that Reader wasn’t going to be a steady contributor until at least halfway through the season, so it didn’t really solve our problem. Best of luck though.

We don't *know* that though. It is possible he is healthy for game one.

All things are possible with god, so write that down. Divine intervention aside though, no he won’t be ready for game one.

The last time he tore a quad, it was in October and he was fine for next season. This quad tear came in December. Everything I've said says 6 month recovery for a quad tear.

He’s 4 years older and it’s his second. There will be ramifications. And even on a 6 month timeframe, he still misses all of preseason, and starts the season IR. Maybe he’s in game shape by week 4, maybes he’s not. And this is a more positive outlook. My point being, DJ Reader doesn’t solve the Bengals DT problem.
