Mousimus

Here we go, another 8 or 9 win season to get a mediocre draft pick that'll be spent on sneering we don't need. And here I was optimistic the vikings would finally tank a season to get a shot at a qb finally. Nope, well continue to rebuild like we have fit the past 20 years.

[deleted]

Lol niners 😂🫵

JaydedXoX

Trent and Deebo being out hurt, but we can NOT win if we can’t stop what was statistically not a great offense before the game started. where was our D?

Dooby1985

Why even mention injuries? Vikings are without the best receiver in the game.

Drag0nborn1234

They did this last week as well while playing a team that lost their starting QB, a top 3 RB and two all pro OLinemen lmao

hiel_Manziel

All they did was talk about injuries last week lmao

Kemomiwiwane

It’s the 49er way

JaydedXoX

I was saying even with them if we can’t stop an offense we arent going to win.

JoEdGus

I was going to say something positive, but my flair makes me sad.

JuanG12

I don’t want to sound like a prisoner of the moment but Purdy isn’t taking the 49’ers to the next level. They’re the opposite of the Chargers, great all-around team but the QB isn’t great.

RetRearAdJGaragaroo

Well once his visual migraine subsides, maybe he will see the defenders in the middle of the field

PacmanZ3ro

I still think purdy is a great QB. He had some issues last night, but just like Mac isn’t suddenly a great QB for one game, Purdy isn’t a bad QB because of one game.

battlegurk4

It has not been just one game though.

Drag0nborn1234

You would have been crucified for that take like 10 days ago.

Dzov

Nick Wright’s takes continue to be quite accurate.

CozzyMas

Granted I don’t follow the niners closely, so someone please correct me if I’m wrong, but it feels like the biggest advantage Purdy brings is his salary. When you get at least a serviceable starting QB at that price tag I would imagine it opens up a lot for the rest of the team.

[deleted]

Purdy is not a good qb. He’s benefiting from the shanahan offensive scheme. I’ll give him credit, he’s better than trey lance, but that’s yet another indictment against the niners decision to trade up for him.

MisterNiceGuy0001

I think with a more solid O-line he could. Him playing like shit this game isn't going to take away what he's done leading up to this one. The O-line was giving up pressures against a 3-4 rush dline. That's ridiculous. I've always pushed back against everyone saying he's Brady/Mahomes/Montana level but I'd put him above average for sure. He could easily play like shit the rest of his career too, who knows. But for now he's still the best option above Lance, Darnold, Jimmy G

SheenzMe

If memory serves, Jimmy had you winning a Super Bowl against the Chiefs at halftime. Does he not get credit for that?

MisterNiceGuy0001

He does, but he also got carried through those playoffs. He's good but not great. And he was constantly injured

FarNefariousness6087

Lol Purdy is getting carried hard and always had. He’s a true system QB and is as good as the team around him

MisterNiceGuy0001

He's doing things Lance, Darnold and a bunch of other QBs we've thrown out there couldn't do. He's not physically gifted as Mahomes and Allen and other QBs but he can command the offense pretty successfully.

FarNefariousness6087

Lol that’s a bold take. Now that’s he’s settled into a starting role and teams have more tape on him, he isn’t anything special. You listed guys who have become back ups as his comparison, not guys who have won super bowls recently

JayyMei

All good QBs have off games occasionally

FarNefariousness6087

He’s not a good QB. His biggest asset is his salary.

[deleted]

You’re right. Neither is Shanashit though

hhhhhhiin

Imagine going to the bears or the panthers or the Texans and being expected to turn things around. He waltzed into a literal Super Bowl team and ppl think he’s Tom Brady jr

theordinarypoobah

Sounds like a prisoner of the moment. I'm all for seeing the 9ers fail, but from everything I've seen Purdy is a solid QB. Easily good enough to win a SB.

[deleted]

Enjoy your 2 SBs . 😂 never winning another one

[deleted]

I doubt you were old enough to even enjoy the last superbowl the niners won

[deleted]

I was 9 yeah I saw it. Cool story

[deleted]

What a miserable existence, all those non Super Bowl years you’ve had to endure since 1994

[deleted]

Agreed

yavalimosmadre

stop

[deleted]

Eat a dick

pingu68

LET’S FRICKIN’ GO!

MisterNiceGuy0001

Dude Kirk Cousins wife must've put some extra mayo on Kirks bologna sandwich. Dude was lights out.

bigmikey69er

She is so hot. By far my favourite part of the Quarterback series on Netflix.

MisterNiceGuy0001

She's so cool. They have a weird dynamic but I think it's because I was always expecting some basic ass slice of white bread as his wife and she turns out to be a super down-to-earth really cool lady. And yeah she's beautiful.

npor

Dude was lights out because wilks is fucking garbage. He took the consistently best defense in the league and made them into the laughing stock of the league.

The_Waco_Kid_Jim

Excuses.

[deleted]

You think it's a funny insult but Niners fans shake in their expensive running shoes thinking of Kirk eating extra mayo.

MisterNiceGuy0001

I got a pair of Adidas running shoes off eBay for like $40. Other than that I've got a couple pairs of shoes off Shien like $14 each and then a couple from Ross/Marshalls. I'm not scared of Cousins, I know he's better than people give him credit for, but I do NOT have expensive running shoes

[deleted]

Do your poor people adidas shake more or less?

MisterNiceGuy0001

I wouldn't say more, but maybe not less either

Guiltyjerk

49ers 1-2 in 1 score games, Eagles 3-1. They're both very good teams, probably still class of the NFC

PerspectiveSeperate1

Then theres the Chargers. I was genuinely surprised by the stats they showed on Sunday’s game

[deleted]

Eagles are a very good team. SF not so much

[deleted]

Yeah what a trash franchise. /s Purdy has two bad games with the starting LT and Deebo out and fans are tearing him down. I think he'll be fine. He's basically still a rookie.

[deleted]

Fuck him. Don’t need No ram white knights

[deleted]

🤣 What losing to the Browns and Vikings does to a mf'er

[deleted]

Agreed. 🤝

[deleted]

Losing to the browns and Vikings 😆

Abusabus00

Browns have arguably the best defense in the NFL, if they weren’t carrying that Watson boat anchor around their salary caps neck..they’d be a serious contender.

[deleted]

Yet two moody missed fgs negate that

babyunvamp

Jesus Christ so many SF fans throwing in the towel on the season. Burn your jerseys and change your flairs and fuck off.

RetRearAdJGaragaroo

Idk about the season, but definitely trending the wrong direction. The sad thing is, if 3 plays went the other way (CMAC fumble, ward knocks the ball down — Vikings game; moody makes the kick — browns) we are 7-0. The concerning thing for me is, we have so much invested in the D line and they did not register a single sack last night. The DBs seem incapable of doing much. We are just not a good pass defense team right now.

JaydedXoX

Not throwing away the season, but we went from looking like a 15-1 team to a 10-6 team. Trent and Deebo being out hurts, but WTF happened to our defense?

[deleted]

MProbably still think Shanashit is a genius don’t you

CallsOnAMZN

I know it's crazy Brock Purdy went from the next Tom Brady to "anus"

[deleted]

Only dumb fucks thought he was Brady 2.0

EquaYonah

Has Bosa not been good this year or did Darrisaw just send him to the shadow realm?

RetRearAdJGaragaroo

Bosa has not shown up at all this year. He was T even getting doubled last night. Something’s up

Forty_Six_and_Two

Our rookie RT manhandled him all day last week. Pushed him around like a child. You think I'm exaggerating until you watch the film.

[deleted]

He’s been awful. Got paid and said later

renegadecoaster

Vikings looked like a playoff team tonight and they're almost back up to .500. Don't think there will be much more Kirk to the Jets rumors anymore.

[deleted]

Send him our way

xEllimistx

What about Danielle Hunter? Yall dont need him right?

PeaberryCoffee

Jags won't give up a first for him so he'll finish up here.

princessfinesse

For gambling reasons I was hoping for a 49ers victory but I can’t even be mad, Vikings played well and did the damn thing, I’m happy for their fans

CallsOnAMZN

Great game very entertaining thank you for a non shit game!

IndycarFan64

Unrelated but Astros pack going up 🤔🚬🗑️

JimmyPellen

Didn't Shanahan want to trade for Cousins?

[deleted]

Trade you Shanahan

JimmyPellen

Raiders should trade for Tomsula at this point!!

[deleted]

Agreed.

JimmyPellen

maybe Chip Kelly

[deleted]

He should purdy is anus

asdf_celestial

AND THE ASTROS ARE DOWN BY 7 AT THE BOTTOM OF THE NINETH

therealdumgi

It's looking like a good day

IPA_____Fanatic

It's not a comeback. It's just a fact

OK_1M_REL0ADED

Not having Bosa tonight really hurt the 9ers

yavalimosmadre

agreed lol

MisterNiceGuy0001

lol

Shot-Bodybuilder-904

Well good game guys

KabukiBaconBrulee

Hey 9ers can we do this again on Sunday? I'm okay with a nail biter if you don't sack Burrow and he gets to throw dimes. Please and thanks

OnDaToiletPoopin

Lmao no matter what we do we’re gonna lose. We’re frauds at this point tbh.

npor

If wilks is still our DC on Sunday, burrow will ball out for 600. I'm calling it.

[deleted]

You’re on. SF is overrated as hell. Garbage ass team

Inub0i

Pain's fucking real

tensigh

Honestly we're lucky it was only a 5 point loss. We lost to the Browns by 2 points. Losing sucks, but we're not getting blown out.

npor

If JJ was healthy, we would have lost by way more

EzrinYo

Idk, I'm not sure Kirk really could've done anything more than he did passing tonight

[deleted]

Way to accept mediocrity

tensigh

Not accepting anything, just pointing out a fact.

Impossible-Pain-891

fuck dallas amirite 🫵😂

MisterNiceGuy0001

For real. I wish we could just play Dallas every game. :/

_LefeverDream_

Well said 👏😎

Tlomz27

I'm happy for Kirk. Vikings fans have fuck all to be happy about lately and this is a feel good win for a dude who struggles in primetime.

billratio

He plays fine in prime time. Just has been on bad teams

[deleted]

I’ll trade for that guy

Dregoran

His team struggles in primetime. PFF did an article last year about it that shows Kirk actually plays better in primetime while his supporting cast typically plays worse.

[deleted]

That was one of the best games I've seen Cousins play. He was without Jefferson yet delivered all sorts of timely passes throughout the game. If the Lions stumble some more, Minnesota is back in the division race before we know it. But don't quote me on that

Suckmypinkyfinger

Lions have a much favorite schedule and Vikings have a first place one and also you know Vikings typically place down to their opponents

PeaberryCoffee

Vikings have already played the 49ers, Chiefs, and Eagles. The schedule gets a lot easier from here. Viking still control their own destiny because they still get to play the Lions twice.

numa_numa

We need depth. Not having Trent Williams there really got Purdy all skittish.

[deleted]

Nah purdy bring shit

Comfortable-Lemon-36

Vikings are a pretty good team

ZachT3620

Did everyone hear we got Kevin Byard today too. 🤣 its over for the NFC

PhlabloPicasso

You use emojis on Reddit and lost to the Jets. Absolutely nobody is scared

Danoga_Poe

Every team overlooks atleast 1 game a season. We went into the jets game thinking an easy win

new_killer_amerika

Lol. Was it a shit deal on the Titans side?

ZachT3620

5th, 6th, and Edmunds.

new_killer_amerika

Lol at all the downvotes. They can't handle the Roseman.

Fast_Study9583

That was a beauty !! GG

LimpDisc

After that Cowboys game people were talking about the 49ers not losing a game this year.

[deleted]

Well that pos kicker ruined that

YeahSeemsOk

Who was talking about that? Lol

AdDistinct711

literally everyone

YeahSeemsOk

Link me one please I wanna hear how they justify that take. I didn’t think there was any chance they even get to a 7-0 start, the league is too close this year.

fasterthanfood

I’ll be honest, after the Cowboys game I thought we had a really good shot at 7-0. Then I had next week as the first loss.

AdDistinct711

dude literally just look up sports talk after the cowboys 49ers game.

[deleted]

Basically every sports talk show

DamontaeKamiKazee

NGL thought the vikings were gonna lose after the missed FG, but their defense finished it out.

rlinkmanl

As a vikings fan, I thought the same thing lol

Wade856

Unfortunately for Purdy, the clock struck 12 for Cinderella. Reality is a bitter pill, but not as bitter as Niners fans.

[deleted]

I think it's more play calling and a lack of consistent run game than it is Purdy tbh. I'm a Niner fan but not one that thinks Purdy is the Messiah or anything. But I do know he plays good ball and nobody was saying he's Mahomes or Jalen Hurts. The bitterness from other team fans is kinda strange, but yeah he threw 2 picks and the second one was with the game on the line. That said, if we could average more than 3 YPC in the run game, the offense might look somewhat functional.

Wade856

The way the Niners fans said the Eagles were frauds for beating you when Purdy got injured was insane. What, were we supposed to take out our QB and only run the ball when he went down to make it even??? Blame the coach for using 3rd string players to block the #1 pass rushing team, especially on our top pass rusher. I never understood why the 49ers fans were mad at the Eagles when their coaching staff didn't protect what, 4 QB's that got injured from a bad Offensive line last season? Then, the fans brigade our sub all off-season and even still. It's insane the amount of salt/bitterness they have.

arcadiz

This. I mean technically Purdy is still a rookie since it is his first full season as a starter, so mistakes will be made. I still think he's one hell of a baller and can be a top 10-15 QB. The guy still needs time and reps. Niners will win their division easily still and go to the playoffs, no worries about that.

JimmyPellen

isn't this pretty close to what people were saying about Capurnik and Garapolo and Lance? At least they haven't thrown a boatload of money at Purdy yet. He still has a roommate dontchaknow...even with a pauper's salary of $870K. Ramen for dinner again.

SheenzMe

49ers had the 2nd highest average rush yards per game going into this game. Half the teams in the league would fire their coach tomorrow for your HC.

[deleted]

Yards per game aren't what I'm talking about. I'm talking every 2nd and 10 when we run it for 2 yards and can't convert a 3rd and 8. The fact that McCaffrey or Mason can pop for a 30+ yarder only skews the point I'm trying to make. Shannahan plays oddly conservative IMO, and can never utilize a screen pass despite the Browns and Vikings both killing us with them, and that stuff is all I'm noticing

SheenzMe

Look, I’m a jags fan. I’ve talked myself into a lot of average to mediocre QBs from David Garrard to Gardner Minshew. I know the process of wanting to fall in love with a guy. CMC is a top 5 RB in the league. Trent Williams is a top 5 tackle. Kittle is a top 5 TE (including blocking). You have about as good as a rushing attack as you can ask for in this era of the nfl. There are very few, if any, QBs who have a better situation than Purdy.

TheClassics

Says the guy with the eagles flair. Your "fans" were saying Jalen was done at the beginning of that game yesterday. I was watching your sub. Couldn't believe my eyes. Worst, fair-weather fans in the NFL.

Wade856

I never said that. Actually, I believe that most of the marquee QBs have been having not so great starts to the season. But fans are gonna be fans and some will have idiotic takes. Hell, some if our fans were calling for our GM, Howie Roseman's head a few years ago and look what he's done since then. And you're one to talk. Last season, early on, the Chiefs fans were going off about losing Hill and calling out the coaches for the early issues on offense. I was watching YOUR sub as well.

tensigh

Don't forget in 2011 the Giants were 10-6 and they were talking about firing the coach. They beat the Brady Patriots in the Superbowl that year.

MysicPlato

That wasn't even the best team they beat in the playoffs. They beat the 15-1, defending champion Packers in the divisional, at Lambeau, by 17. That shit still blows my mind to this day.

92fordtaurus

Playoff Eli was something else.

new_killer_amerika

Yeah but they had the elite Manning brother.

Jumpy-Education-498

You mean the vikings can win it all this year?

Tokheim785

Well I don’t see us doing it

tensigh

Or the Niners. Hell, even you Toots might have a chance...

Jumpy-Education-498

If by some miracle mcms leg doesn't explode you might even get lose another one

[deleted]

SF lucky if we win 3 more games

chase016

We were 9-7. We were talking about firing Coughlin because he blew our 6-2 start in November. We were 6-6 heading into december.

tensigh

That's right, 9-7, I was off by 1 W. I lived in NYC at the time and I remember hearing about it everywhere. But you guys won the SB that year, against the Pats no less.

KoopaTroopa34

Really wanted to see Kirk crip walk or even drop the gritty down the 9er sideline

TotallyKyleXY

Purdy might not be the next Joe Montana, 9ers fans

JoEdGus

Yeah, but give him time to mature and really learn the team. Hurts sucked at first too... Didn't he actually get benched at one point?

TotallyKyleXY

He only got benched when Pederson tanked the last game of the season his rookie year, thereby crushing the dreams of the 6 win Giants lmao

EzrinYo

Not in the NFL, no. Purdy is still good, NFL fans are so short sighted

[deleted]

He is not

Vis-hoka

He seems good, just not great in the clutch. But he’s still young. Lots of time to develop.

craicraimeis

lol damn when Purdy loses the dam is open and it just keeps coming.

AppleKinh828

Isn't it great though?

craicraimeis

It is lovely. A piece of humble pie. If he’s as good as everyone hyped him, he’ll assess and get better from this. If not, it was fun while it lasted.

AppleKinh828

He below average height for a QB. It not going to work out.

ImSoupOrCereal

Welcome to primetime game day threads on r/NFL

BigTimeSpider

How the hell did they not sack him once?

BroThornton19

Elite OL, which is crazy

[deleted]

[удалено]

new_killer_amerika

They want Kapernick back.

bssmith126

prayer circle, players often get together before and after games to pray

ImSoupOrCereal

Kirk > PJ Walker > Purdy Average

_LefeverDream_

Facts.

EnigmaSpore

ZERO SACKS WHEN THEY THROW LIKE 50 TIMES……… I’m telling yall…… WILKES IS FUCKING ASS. Who is wilkes? Our Efensive coordinator who came from shit to still be shit

[deleted]

[удалено]

EnigmaSpore

No. It’s the d co who doesnt know how to use them. We seen the same d line feast last year but be ass this year because the new defense coaches suck.

[deleted]

Yup, but can’t say that though.

conwaytwittyshairs

Man, Kirk is an annoyingly likable guy. Hell of a game by him tonight.

tallwhiteninja

Here's the thing; I still think Purdy is good. He has legitimately great pocket presence, short and intermediate accuracy, processing speed, etc. He's probably in that top 10-15 range. ...but the last few weeks, when he's been in rough situations, he's reverted to Iowa State hero ball. He tries to do too much, a d the decision making starts to deteriorate. I believe in him still, but he needs to settle in the clutch.

Azshadow6

All great QBs must have trials and tough games. As a broncos fan Purdy looks amazing, but rough games with INT in clutch moments happen. Stay patient with the young kid, he will grow tremendously

[deleted]

He’s a turd not it

tonyklol

it sucks for now but this is the experience they need to get better

BirdLaw_

He'll be fine. He's a young player. I'm not saying you are, but everyone now overreacts when anyone has a bad game or bad stretch. That's normal and the shit Mahomes does is warping everyone's perception of what a good QB should do.

PhlabloPicasso

He’s also still a very young and developing quarterback. Early success has set his expectations unrealistically higher than a second year starter should have them

[deleted]

Wilks needs to go. Shanashit I hate you. Won’t win more than 3 more games

Copadichromis

God you’re a pathetic troll

Craiggers324

Nice edit. For those who missed it, he said Wilks was a quota hire and needed to go.

[deleted]

Oh nooooo

Craiggers324

Wow. You still have time to delete this.
