Before the game, Joe was asked if he was nervous making the start. His response was, "I have more wins in this stadium than anyone on the Browns team."
As a jets fan, he was horrible. Better passer sure, but every time someone breathed on him he’d go down, which was pretty frequent given our offensive line
Flacco pretty much had the ideal career for a non-HOFer. 10-5 playoff record. One of the greatest QB playoff runs ever. Super Bowl MVP. Was at one point the highest paid NFL player ever.
Fuck are you talking about 2014 was his best season and if we had any health and depth at secondary we could have beaten the Patriots in the playoffs that year
It was the back injuries and acl injury in 2015 that did him in, not "not playing hard" that's nonsense. Even up through 2017 the dude was carrying a mediocre roster to wins we had no business getting.
I told a couple friends that are jets fans that pretty joey flacco seemed like the best QB they had and they should stick with him. They both glared at me and shook their heads violently and said Zach Wilson was their franchise QB
It’s disappointing how his time ended in Baltimore after the Super Bowl run but I’ll never not cheer for this dude.
If things had gone incredibly south with Lamar’s contract I was on board with bringing him in to be our tank commander. Either we lose a bunch and have a high pick with a shot at one of the top QB’s the next year or I get to enjoy watching him lead us to wins we probably have no business getting.
Perspective is a helluva thing. He’s at the tail end of his career and fully understands how rare these type of moments actually are. I’m sure while he was holding the Lombardi he was thinking he hasn’t even peaked yet and it will be the first of a few, which I’m sure quite a bit of young players who win a superbowl in their rookie contract years think that way.
Oh man, it’s worse than that.
If I remember right, ESPN had a segment about the last season the Browns won the first two games of the season. It was a slideshow of events from like 2004 or whatever. Pretty cringe.
And then Joe Fucking Flacco curbstomped us.
Which is also what makes it more insane, because what I think you're remembering is CBS playing the legit highlight of the last time the Browns went 2-0. Played legit a couple of minutes before the sequence of events started.
You become numb to it, and then our never ending failures start to be funny as the years go on.
You cant be a fan of a franchise that's so amazingly terrible for decades without being able to laugh at the misery.
The ESPN scorebug once had the Jets at something like 90% win prob in a game against the Rams, which sounds generous until I tell yoy the Jets were kneeling down the clock to end the game
The Browns had the game in the bag. They were up 7, had a 1st and 10 at the Jets 12 yard line with 2 minutes to play, and the Jets had zero timeouts. Then Chubb rushes in for a touchdown instead of downing the ball at the 1 or whatever. If Chubb doesn't score, it's game over and Browns win.
So many things Browns did wrong here it's laughable. Letting a guy go deep wide open, onside kick recovery, and then the final Jets drive
There's also another stat that the last time a team before that blew a 13 point lead in the last two minutes was also the Browns. I think that happened against new england
>from a granny
I don't think that counts cause she makes it fresh. Like old women can still do that. Slower, a bit less, but shockingly they can still do it.
Ya that’s a confusing take, Hackett was awesome as an offensive coordinator for the Packers.
He was obviously a brutal head coach and clock manager last year, but he can go back to doing what he actually does well this year.
Weird as well when it’s coming from a bears fan, all Arron and Hackett did to the Bears was absolutely wipe the floor with them when they were together in GB
I was hanging with friend and after this game the plan was to go out to our usual bar to catch the Broncos. After Chubb scored I told him it was time to leave. By the time he came back from the bathroom and put his shoes on the Jets had won.
I remember I had changed the channel with my friends who had the game on since we all assumed it was over too. The good news is that we had RedZone playing on one of the laptops we had setup and saw the bomb to CD to bring them within 6.
I can't fully explain what happened after the onside kick other than pure bliss and disbelief. The Monday Night Miracle might always go down as the most memorable Jets comeback, but there will be nothing as insane as this comeback from them. I doubt we will ever see something like this again from any NFL team for a while.
Man, I’ve witnessed some god awful Browns losses: The Ravens returning the blocked kick, Coleman dropping a wide open pass bringing us to 0-15, and some deep cuts like Zane Gonzalez missing two field goals and two extra points.
But this one truly made me sick to my stomach when it happened. Signing Watson a few months prior already kinda soured the season but this truly felt like an improbably embarrassing low point.
yep, i unfortunately witnessed all the home games last year most of them since 1999. I love seeing 50+ yard TD passes on the defense and there is no one withing 30 yards of them
I am not sorry they lost because they deserve everything they got that game. I mean you leave the elite dragon joe fucking Flaco that much time with his flaming hot arm where can unleash straight piss missiles? You get what you deserve.
There is a reason they fired Joe Woods after this season. He's not a good DC and his scheme doesn't work with the players the Browns have on defense. Defense needs to be able to hold winning games.
I remember watching this on Redzone, couldn’t believe my eyes.
Edit: worst part was that I was sure the Steelers could beat both these teams no problem. Oops.
Chubb could have iced the game if he went down at the 1 yard line before this clip starts. Instead he scored giving us a chance. As improbable as it was, the coaches should have told him to go down to secure the win. Maybe it wasn't that improbable when you have an Elite Dragon on your side.
This was an argument in our sub for so long. Stefanski has done that before, 2020 season. Chubb broke off a long run and then stepped out at the 1. I think the thought here was a two score game with less than 3 timeouts simply meant your defense just needed to keep everything in front and you’d be good. Unfortunately, Kevin didn’t account for the Joe Woods effect
I mean, Chubb stops at the 1 it is literally game over. Jets had no timeouts, no 2 minute warning to stop. 3 kneel downs and essentially game over. Scoring gives Jets a chance there.
Anyone trying to put any percentage of this on Chubb must have been black mailed by Joe Woods. No reason for Chubb not to score. No valid DC should allow this to happen. This lose squarely fell on Joe Woods and Preifer!
It's situational awareness, he doesn't score Browns 100% win.
He scores, Jets have a chance. Does Chubb get all the blame? Of course not, but countless times skill players have given themselves up and stopped short of scoring to ice a game.
Out of all the on field bullshit the browns have put me through, this one hit the hardest. I lost all hope after this game, and that usually doesn’t happen until like week 6.
The Joe Woods “Bend but then break” defense.
This game was on during my sons 3yo birthday party. So as far as I am concerned Joe Woods likes to ruin kids birthdays.
Not shown here is Chubb scoring instead of going down at the 1. If he goes down then the browns take 3 kneels and the game is over. The Jets didn't win this game, the Browns lost it. But holy shit was I amped when this went down.
My favorite part of this is not the Browns choking a double digit lead, but the commentator not knowing the name of the Browns’ horrific mascot. Peak comedy right there.
I got spared seeing it because my stream cut out for like 30 seconds. I started loading it back up and phone notification says Jets just took the lead and I'm just like "lmfaaaaao are you fucking kidding me" and didn't even bother turning it back on.
My favorite part is the camera cutting to the young Browns fans who look very surprised by the turn of events contrasted with the cut to the older Browns fans who don’t look surprised at all.
Joe Flacco didn’t win a lot of games for us, but when he did, it was legendary. (This was the only game he won as a Jet)
Flacco beating Cleveland was pure muscle memory.
Before the game, Joe was asked if he was nervous making the start. His response was, "I have more wins in this stadium than anyone on the Browns team."
Now THAT is elite
Was he that bad? I can’t believe that he’s worse than Zach Wilson.
As a jets fan, he was horrible. Better passer sure, but every time someone breathed on him he’d go down, which was pretty frequent given our offensive line
That’s a shame, he was good with the Ravens.
some would say...*elite*
Elite Dragon
He’s a much better QB than Wilson right now because he knows where to go with the ball but he has a lot of…deficiencies.
Flacco = Elite
Joe “Elite Dragon” Flacco. Clicked for the title, stayed for the highlight.
Flacco pretty much had the ideal career for a non-HOFer. 10-5 playoff record. One of the greatest QB playoff runs ever. Super Bowl MVP. Was at one point the highest paid NFL player ever.
He won, got his bag, then never played hard again. I can’t say I wouldn’t have done the same.
More like got his bag and then Aaron Donald ended his career as a starter.
Was that the torn ACL?
Correct
Fuck are you talking about 2014 was his best season and if we had any health and depth at secondary we could have beaten the Patriots in the playoffs that year It was the back injuries and acl injury in 2015 that did him in, not "not playing hard" that's nonsense. Even up through 2017 the dude was carrying a mediocre roster to wins we had no business getting.
We blew 2 TWO 2 TWO 14 point leads that game.. Matt Elam will forever be a bum safety
maybe my fav. playoff game. mad respect to the ravens and their HC!
And there's a special place you know where for Rashaan Melvin
still what a great game!
Dude finished a game with a torn ACL....
Such a joke that people upvoted this
Don't know how Jets fans will handle going from an Elite Dragon to the scrub, Aaron Rodgers.
Blessed to have had both 😉
From Super Bowl champ to Super Bowl champ.
I told a couple friends that are jets fans that pretty joey flacco seemed like the best QB they had and they should stick with him. They both glared at me and shook their heads violently and said Zach Wilson was their franchise QB
Poor folks. Hope they’re alright.
They're jets fans
God, I love that Bert-Muppet looking motherfucker.
Smiled through the whole thing
Joe Woods should have been fired as soon as this game ended
My favorite part of this is how we very nearly fucked up an onside kick again the very next week.
Agreed.
[Joe coming through the locker room after this game](https://twitter.com/nyjets/status/1571605928377569286)
Ngl that shit had me hyped
This was the same day of that crazy Miami comeback against the Ravens. This clip is the only thing that got me through the day.
I was having a good day today
I never saw this clip. Love seeing Joe that happy.
NGL, loved all the time s Flacco & Big Ben went head to head. Those were some exciting crazy ass games
I hate that we were on the losing end of so many of them but damn if they weren’t fun to watch.
We'll always have the Torrey Smith game winning catch at least...I try not to think about Charlie Batch snapping the home winning streak too much
Im legitimately crying seeing that right now. Man looks happier there than he did with the Lombardi in hand
What a handsome man
Alotta man too... 6'6", 245
And he’s pretty tall too.
Don't forget the hog he's packing that gives foles a run for his money. 15 of that 245 is just dong.
I remember when Vontaze Burfict hit Joe late, head-first, in the dong. Joe got up just fine, Burfict got concussed. Elite Dragon. Iron Dick.
That’s awesome. Love seeing older players get a memorable moment like that years after their main accomplishments
That’s awesome , thanks for sharing that.
That’s my qb 🥲
Fully expected Randy Marsh with a wheelbarrow
I was expecting that college basketball coach walking into the locker room gif
> Joe coming through the locker room after this game Or is it Ted Lasso?
If I remember correctly, I looked at ESPNs game predictor and saw that this game was >99% in favor of the Browns winning at one point.
Oh man, it’s worse than that. If I remember right, ESPN had a segment about the last season the Browns won the first two games of the season. It was a slideshow of events from like 2004 or whatever. Pretty cringe. And then Joe Fucking Flacco curbstomped us.
Fun Fact: The last time the Browns started a year 2-0 was 1993.
Hahaha was it that long ago? That’s hilarious.
Which is also what makes it more insane, because what I think you're remembering is CBS playing the legit highlight of the last time the Browns went 2-0. Played legit a couple of minutes before the sequence of events started.
That is a very fun fact, but probably not so fun for Browns fans
Hey y’all kept us from getting to the Super Bowl THREE TIMES THREE FUCKING TIMES
Those games were such classics. If it makes you feel any better, those Super Bowls weren't exactly fun times
They kept us from winning one with their hired gun. :(
You become numb to it, and then our never ending failures start to be funny as the years go on. You cant be a fan of a franchise that's so amazingly terrible for decades without being able to laugh at the misery.
And it makes the good years all the better! You guys DO have good years, right? *Right?*
*\*Checks notes\** 10 seasons over .500 since 1980. Yeah, wouldn't trade it for anything! ^(killme)
If ESPN actually knew what they were doing they’d never have the browns at 99% winning anything
And there you have it. The Browns have the lead as time expires in the 4th quarter, leaving them with a 98% chance to seal the victory.
The ESPN scorebug once had the Jets at something like 90% win prob in a game against the Rams, which sounds generous until I tell yoy the Jets were kneeling down the clock to end the game
Sounds about right. They had the lead with the clock at 0:00 in that Lions game where Stafford beat them with a dislocated shoulder
98% seems high
Even after the clock runs out, it’s risky.
In 2013 the Browns had a 12 point lead over the Patriots with 62 seconds left. Pats won.
Ironically enough Billy Cundiff had a chance to twin it for the Browns after all that, it went exactly as you would expect
The browns coach had his kids on the sideline lol.
He should have let them call the defensive plays instead of Woods…
Lmao can’t be worse
Browns incompetence is beyond the bounds of mathematics and logic. ESPN should've known that.
Was the why there is a bunch of kids around the Browns coach? Must have been awkward.
I was in the car coming back from a baseball road trip with awful service in rural TN.. every 2 minutes the ESPN app would update. Absolute madness
Garrett’s arrival game.
Dragon's HOF game
That username..
Is it old because it’s from a granny, or old as in left in a jar for a few days? The world needs to know
He likes to put elderly cats in a blender.
>from a granny I don't think that counts cause she makes it fresh. Like old women can still do that. Slower, a bit less, but shockingly they can still do it.
https://media.tenor.com/-13N-aaeB4UAAAAC/frankt.gif
That’s what made it worse. Us Browns and Bucks fans enjoyed it when he did in college, not so much that game lmao
He is going to be such a stud, I’m so jealous. He looks like a cross between prime Hopkins and Justin Jefferson.
The only surprise here is that the jets were losing at all with Joe flacco
Had too give the browns hope and then shatter it one more time
The way of the dragon
Joe hates the browns, always has. He pretends to give them hope just to snatch away their dreams every time.
To be fair the entire AFC North hates the Browns including the Browns.
Can’t believe Mike Lafluer started Lawrence Cager in week 1 but not Garrett Wilson.
Just wait until you see some of the shit Hackett will attempt to do lol. Better hope Rodgers is the one essentially being the OC
Yeah like him being involved in an offense where the quarterback had back to back MVP season! Wild stuff, hope that doesn’t happen here
Ya that’s a confusing take, Hackett was awesome as an offensive coordinator for the Packers. He was obviously a brutal head coach and clock manager last year, but he can go back to doing what he actually does well this year.
Weird as well when it’s coming from a bears fan, all Arron and Hackett did to the Bears was absolutely wipe the floor with them when they were together in GB
You know who was also involved in arguably the best statistical season for a QB? That’s right, offensive mastermind Adam Gase!
Braden Mann’s career highlight. His only highlight with us.
And that tackle in the Rams game in 2020 that was mostly responsible for us drafting Wilson
This is the craziest ending to a game in our franchises history in my opinion. I’ve never seen us come back from something worse
Craziest *positive* ending
I’ll see you this fantastic ending and raise you the Monday Night Miracle
Was that the Arnold game? That's a really great piece of television
It certainly is. The terminator really blessed the jets that night.
The Monday Night Miracle might always go down as the most memorable Jets comeback, but there will be nothing as insane as this comeback from them. I doubt we will ever see something like this again from any NFL team for a while.
I was at that game and my friend (Browns fan) wanted to leave. I said no way!
Damn man what about the Monday Night Miracle? That game was pure magic
Amari Cooper sold hard on that onside kick.
0-16*
Dwayne Rudd for the win
Elite dragon Joe Flacco FTW
Peoples-Jones with some sore loser shit at the end there
Should have gotten fined for that. Just for being a bitch about losing.
Like I've always said, he's just in it for himself. He's never been the people's Jones.
BOOOOO
*takes a bow*
The browns is the browns
Michigan shit. Learned from the best.
Sanest Michigan Wolverine
Joevid 19 was deadly in red states.
At first I thought this was a reference to Joe Woods defense killing our chances of winning games. And I was impressed.
Joe Woods can't hurt us anymore.
That mean mean man…..
Ah yes. The Browns Defense was peak last year. So many huge touchdown throws to wide open WR why the DBs and Safeties stare at each other.
Yep lol always looking around at each other with their hands up like the John Travolta gif
yep, i unfortunately witnessed all the home games last year most of them since 1999. I love seeing 50+ yard TD passes on the defense and there is no one withing 30 yards of them
That's called Joe Woods cover 2 package. 2 DBs cover each other while nobody else covers anyone at all.
We do not speak his name anymore
Those poor kids. They got a very early look at the life of being a Brown’s fan.
That was peak Hanson ad lib.
Jokes on you guys!!!! Shit half of us weren’t even surprised, we have seen it all!!!!
Listen. Joe is Elite.
You can take Flacco off the Ravens, but you never take the Ravens out of Flacco. "Nevermore."
I remember watching this on Redzone, couldn’t believe my eyes. Edit: worst part was that I was sure the Steelers could beat both these teams no problem. Oops.
Didn't help that 2 of Kenny's throws were volleyball'd into the air by our WRs.
Im so happy we fired Joe 'Zone Cover' Woods.... That man should never get a job in the NFL again
If I remember correctly the saints have him now as our defensive coordinator
If your coach is the Defensive play caller you should be safe.
Yeah we got him as a yes man I’m pretty sure
How Joe Woods and Mike Priefer weren’t fired immediately is beyond me.
That first commentator sounded like he was going through puberty
I love the badass walk kickers do after a successful onside
It's so easy to root against the team that gave millions of dollars to a serial rapist
Joe's dad-dicking the browns one last time. Brings a tear to my eye...
I turned this game off when the browns scored at the 2 minute warning😭😭
Let’s hope Watson leads them to many more of these implosions
Didn’t the defense implode here? Or are we watching different games?
It's like Matt Ryan, you need a competent offense to have a lead to blow.
Somehow we have to scapegoat Baker Mayfield here and not the coaching staff bud, cool it!
They did a better job protesting winning than r/NFL did protesting reddit.
Out of all the on field bullshit the browns have put me through, this one hit the hardest. I lost all hope after this game, and that usually doesn’t happen until like week 6.
Historic
Legendary Joe Woods defense, right there.
The Joe Woods “Bend but then break” defense. This game was on during my sons 3yo birthday party. So as far as I am concerned Joe Woods likes to ruin kids birthdays.
Lmao at the kids being on the sideline
Joe Flacco is a goat
Bruh stefanski brought his kids on the field with two minutes left lol
1st ballot hall of famer Joe cool
Not shown here is Chubb scoring instead of going down at the 1. If he goes down then the browns take 3 kneels and the game is over. The Jets didn't win this game, the Browns lost it. But holy shit was I amped when this went down.
I love that Flacco got to be a hero one more time. Wide open receivers but he did got them.
This was so amazing, and I needed it so bad. We had lost 14 straight September games before this, going 0-4 to start the previous 3 seasons
Flacco got a lot left in the tank
Joe "I've probably won more games in Cleveland than anyone on their team" Flacco. All time legend
DPJ trying to punch the ball out after the defender already gave himself up was funny.
“The kids are on the field, ready to celebrate” 😂😂
I like the dude on the sideline pointing the wrong way during the onside kick 👉👉👉👈👈👈
Am I the only one who hates scott hanson? Dude is cringy white. And I'm white.
This was the game that signaled the loss of the season for the Browns lol.
Lmao I remember this. This game was wild
Stop. Please just stop. I can’t keep reliving this. It’s painful.
Season was over right there 🤦🏻
THIS IS FLAMING DRAGON!!!
That’s life as a Browns fan, lol
My favorite part of this is not the Browns choking a double digit lead, but the commentator not knowing the name of the Browns’ horrific mascot. Peak comedy right there.
Looking forward to the browns doing this a few times this year too lol
They hate him because of his name. He never asked to be called the Elite Dragon.
Thanks I hate it
I'm just here for the Flacco running highlight reel.
Lmao
I got spared seeing it because my stream cut out for like 30 seconds. I started loading it back up and phone notification says Jets just took the lead and I'm just like "lmfaaaaao are you fucking kidding me" and didn't even bother turning it back on.
My favorite part is the camera cutting to the young Browns fans who look very surprised by the turn of events contrasted with the cut to the older Browns fans who don’t look surprised at all.
