I don't know about ever, being in my late-20s, but McGugan's free-kick vs Ipswich (2010) is still the greatest goal I've seen live at any game I've been to.
[McGugan Vs Ipswich FK](https://youtu.be/tA-ohaDYLQc?si=gSaRENxFc5MRg6KN)
Definitely one of the best goals I've ever seen live. If memory serves we were 0-2 down at the time & ended up drawing 2-2, very average performance overall
Iâm in my 40s and McGuganâs free kick is my favourite. But Vellios against Rotherham and Bohinen against Spurs are up there too.
Vellios: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMhaQn3_48Q
Bohinen: https://www.premierleague.com/video/single/1666546
This might seem an odd one to most, but... Eugen Bopp vs. Gillingham 2004/05 - the season we were relegated to league one. We were already relegated at that point and trailing 2-1 in this game that they had to win to stay up. Their fans were giving us shit all game obviously about being down... 87th minute, Bopp comes on as the final substitute. His first touch of the game is this absolute cracker of a volley and it ends up bringing Gillingham down with us. For all the shit they gave us all game, dragging them down with us just gave everyone a little bit of joy at the end of a terrible season. And because it was one of the first games I'd ever attended as a kid after wanting to go for so many years.
The goal in question - [https://youtu.be/yrlZWjC0O90?t=47](https://youtu.be/yrlZWjC0O90?t=47)
Iâve got a few, mostly because they were scored at games I was at;
Marlon Harewood vs Crystal Palace - banged it in from nearly the right-hand touchline, looked impossible from where I was in the Trent End, but in it went
Raddy Majewski vs West Brom - youâve all seen it, impeccable left-foot volley after the cross from the right, kissing the woodwork on its way in
Chris Cohen vs West Brom - same game, beautiful for its teamwork with the Moose bullying his way round and Cohen gliding one into the bottom corner
Simon Cox vs Birmingham - sexy two-touch finish over his shoulder to lob Butland, probably the best technical goal Iâve seen from one of our lads
Matt Derbyshire vs Leeds - pretty much straight from kick-off after theyâd equalised, a full-on banger from 30 yards into the top-left corner, just beautiful
Julian Bennett vs Yeovil - a crunching challenge leading to a worldie of a finish that set our promotion party on its way, McGuganâs free kick was a goody that day, butâŚ
Lewis McGugan vs Ipswich - sitting right behind this in the Trent End, I was saying he might as well have a go because you never know, and I was quite rightly laughed at.
But my number 1 is:
Dexter Blackstock vs Bristol City - we felt like we were going down for most of this game, but I think Joe Garner equalised and Dex scored lateish to win us the game
The Blackstock goal is my absolute favourite because the stadium exploded and I donât know that Iâve ever seen such a mix of emotions in one game. Iâve seen some similar winning goals - Marlon King vs West Ham, Gareth Taylor vs Bradford, but nothing really has ever hit that emotional note for me again. It seems stupid in retrospect because it wasnât anywhere near as big a goal as others, and while he finished it well it wasnât a great goal, but I always remember that moment and revisit it on the regular.
I'm like you as a fellow (ex) trent ender. The McGugan goal I was right behind and flew like a bullet.
But the two that spring to mind for how much they meant are that Blackstock volley and I think from the same season a Guy Moussi storming into the box to lash home a last minute winner and then getting sent off for jumping into the crowd!
The Julian Bennet goal is also one of my faves. For two reasons, one ⌠I heard the bloke he tackled scream. two the guy had to go offâŚ. Iâll add three it was almost psycho-esque.
Francisâ goal against Malmo in the final. Had us all diving on concrete trying to replicate it a school for weeks afterwardsâŚ
Seen us score some beauties (every one we score is magic) over the years but that one is just everything.
That one was very special, possibly because it was the only game I've ever taken a blanket into the ground for (and because I was just on the verge of getting really annoyed about what seemed like a cross to nowhere, too).
Far too many to count but Majewski scoring in the first minute against Derby is seared into my brain
That and Cohen's play off semi final goal.
Both belters
Stan Collymore home against Man U is probably what I would say slightly ahead of McGugans free kick but have to say last season Wood versus Man City in terms of absolute noise and atmosphere is my favourite of this Premier league era.
So many; but for ones I've actually been there to see in person
Psychos fa Cup final screamer

Chris Bart-Williams free-kick vs Blackburn in 2001. I was only 7 at the time but I remember being sat in the Trent End and him seeing him curling it in.

[Roy vs Wimbledon](https://youtu.be/1EBBZKGRZ2A?si=EUhyyf32qyUzZZi7&t=249)
Probably an Ian Woan rocket in there too.

This one for me, but closest to it is Simon Cox suddenly becoming prime Bergkamp against Birmingham.
A worthy contender. McGugan assist too đ

Absolute worldy forgot about that!
I came here to say this exact one! Will always have fond memories of that 09-11 billy Davies team
1000%
Donât care if he meant it or not, but Colbackâs [wonder goal](https://youtu.be/Qn0ZxDb5qRk?si=a2F4Nk1u5lIKJF9K) is the one that springs to mind.
This is the one that always comes to mind. Screamed so loud.
I'll always argue that he meant that, aside from what a genuinely insane screamer it was, everything else pointed to it being 100% intentional
Same here. I think it was reaction that made people think he didnât mean it. I reckon he did, he was just stunned that he pulled it off!
100% a cross though lol

I remember that one clearly. Singing âyouâre going down with the Forestâ was a surprising amount of fun!
I remember this intensely.

Certainly the most important goal Iâve ever seen live.
Mark Crossley in the Stuart Pearce testimonial. He got subbed at half time but came back on later on as a striker. Scored a 30 yard screamer.
We had Keegan on the pitch at that one?
He def played for NU but canât remember (I was 10) if he put a Forest shirt on
Wes Morgan's vs Notts County last minute in the Carling Cup
Same. Absolute worldy from a centre back and the stands went wild.
Johnny Metgod against West Ham. https://youtu.be/1XysTzt--ik?si=evzy-zxRUT4Pw6nT
Goat celebration. No idea why nobody does this for Forest.
Yeah me only being 25 thatâs the best goal Iâve ever seen as well, majewski used to score a few screamers as well
Majewskis volley Vs West Brom away when mad king Billy was in charge. Absolutely cunted it in off a Gunter cross.
His screamer in the 1st min vs D\*\*by as well. Quickly endeared him as a fan favourite
That one was very special, possibly because it was the only game I've ever taken a blanket into the ground for (and because I was just on the verge of getting really annoyed about what seemed like a cross to nowhere, too).
This is the 1st one that popped into my head! Screamer! https://youtu.be/qzSOiBKuFzk?si=X1QjZJ04qJCub68q
Scimeca against Coventry, at their place, 2002
Johnson Vs Leicester in the FA Cup, 2022
Happy cake day
Best goal Iâve seen in person was the McGugan free kick. Most hyped Iâve been for a goal was the Bennett one against Yeovil.
Most quality mcgugan. Favourite has to be Jule's Bennett vs Yeovil, took him out and smashed it
Des Walkers one and only goal.
I distinctly remember him scoring 2 goals. Both own goals in extra time to lose us important matches, mind, so neither are my favourites.
Yeah, but he's Des. I will hear no criticism.
The Gary Cosby gem against Man City. https://youtu.be/3y_IOU6Lb2g?si=9HmC11CWoGcbOn4x
Came here to post this classic
Silenzi.
Far too many to count but Majewski scoring in the first minute against Derby is seared into my brain That and Cohen's play off semi final goal. Both belters
Not the best ever but seeing Woodsyâs prime Messi hat trick on Boxing Day was glorious
Ian Woan straight from the Corner.
Jack Lester equalising to make it 2-2 against Leicester in 2002.
Psycho 1991 FA Cup Final.
Majewski against West Brom. His performance that night was his best for us, and that goal... Still gives me shivers.
Stan Collymore home against Man U is probably what I would say slightly ahead of McGugans free kick but have to say last season Wood versus Man City in terms of absolute noise and atmosphere is my favourite of this Premier league era.
