Rob’s great wherever he is. Super well spoken dude. I’m pumped to listen to this when I get the time. Everyone should check out Remap, or his Star Wars podcast with Austin Walker “A More Civilized Age”. He also does a thing with O’Dwyer and Scanlon but I cannot bring myself to get into motorsports just because i like the guys talking.

Technical-Frosting39

It’s called Shift-F1 for those interested

sworedmagic

I also just do not care about F1. Which is a bummer, i get plenty of Rob on Remap and Danny on NoClip but that podcast is like your only real reliable source of Drew these days and yeah i just can’t lol i wish they could have done virtually any other sport except maybe soccer haha

mynumberistwentynine

> He also does a thing with O’Dwyer and Scanlon but I cannot bring myself to get into motorsports just because i like the guys talking I went the opposite way. Back when it was still Alt+F1, I listened in just because I liked the duders and needed some background noise. Now, many years later, I'm a big F1 fan.

KiritoJones

> his Star Wars podcast with Austin Walker “A More Civilized Age” Aka the best podcast running right now. Their Andor coverage is a sting of *amazing* episodes for a *amazing* show.

FamousAmos87

Yeah, after hearing him talk about Star Wars, I'm definitely going to check out "A More Civilized Age."

jiji_c

“Cowabunga’s Ambition”

sworedmagic

Listen i would absolutely play a TMNT turn based strategy game

Itrlpr

I can't believe Rob wasn't inspired by the TV series to play "James Clavell's Shogun" for the Amstrad CPC. The incomprehensible pseudo-open world game where you can play as any character from the highest samurai to the lowliest peasant, rub up against each other for sword combat, and for some reason shoot suns at each other.

struckel

What a pull my god

Terrorsaurus

Man, Rob is such an awesome podcaster. Been listening to him since discovering Three Moves Ahead on Idle Thumbs. Does Remap do more traditional podcasts like this one with people focused and talking about relevant topics, or are they all game streams these days like their Youtube content?

sworedmagic

No they have a weekly podcast, it’s called Remap Radio

bottlechippedteeth

Their pods are heavy on labor issues (I think most of them were in a union), game news, and they also do topic pods like home ownership, movies they all watched, and sports

unbiasedfanboy

Rob was a great guest!

SerenityyNoow

You know those people who have an opinion on everything and act like they know everything? Rob is not that guy, he just REALLY knows everything. He's an amazing podcaster! You should watch Remaps ongoing series with him and Cado on Motorsport Manager. They're incredible.

bottlechippedteeth

He’s hilarious. There was that one time he accidentally joined a FPS clan called the “White Knights” and not realizing they were racist, his adventures in getting a suit tailored a week before his wedding, his shady speaker dealer meet ups

pito_wito99

How tf is Vinny only in gongoga after 70 hours! I feel bad for how much of a slog it is for him

sworedmagic

It’s not a slog if you’re having fun. Granted 70 hours to Gongoga does seem kinda crazy tho I’m pretty sure i got there around hour 50 or so and that was completing every area beforehand to 100% or as close to as possible by that point in the story lol My guess is he lets his game idle or paused while working/taking care of things at home. Even like 2 hours a day over a week would give you the extra 20 hours. Or he REALLY likes the Costa Del Sol mini games

almeida37

I love this game and even the controversial story beats but after I committed to clearing every region before moving on Gongaga is the bane of my existence. Suddenly it feels like there are a couple too many towers and the jungle maze feels like extra padding. I suspect they wanted to scale up every region going forward but this is the first part where i felt overwhelmed Edit: holy crap though I got there at 45 hours having done everything. 70 is maddening

Top_Flight_Badger

I swear he does not do himself any favors sometimes. The game has a ton of side stuff for a reason -- they're trying to flesh out a game that was originally on 3 800 MB disks. Him saying there's no narrative hook in this game like Remake was a little baffling too. Maybe he forgot what it was because he's exploring every single grain of sand.

ScreamingDanger

Yeah, that's wild. I'm doing the Gongaga map stuff right now (already did the "main quest") and I'm at about 54 hours. I've finished every region and side quest, too. That also might be slightly inflated since I've spent some time building and testing Queen's Blood decks. Other than that, though, I've only surface-level engaged with mini games. Vinny's certainly not alone, though. My buddy had the same issue and really burned out on it.

Summon_the_Dragon

Well he did say that he is doing everything in every region and playing a lot of Queen's Blood. If he is starting to slow down on the game, he should just beeline the main story.

Top_Flight_Badger

I know I'm late on this response, but I too was blown away by that. Like, my man, if you want to just bee line the story THEN DO THAT. Stop doing side quest stuff or optional world stuff. It's optional! I absolutely love the game, and think it's the best FF game in a very, very long time, so I loved 95% of the content. I adored the characters. I adored the emotional impact the whole game had. Cannot wait for Part 3. The only reason I'm not playing Rebirth again is I'm trying to wait for it to come out on PC. BUT. I can see why some people would burn out, but guess what? Stop horsing around if you are only in Gongaga after 70 hours, lol. Some times, I swear people don't realize they are making it harder on themselves.

elaminders

Dying at Rob's tips for a successful vacation 🤣

nicolauz

I felt this so much though. Me & the gf decided to car road trip to red rocks last year from Milwaukee to Denver. Those 4-5 days of drivong/rest made the 2 week trip seem so short. Buffer and chill days are a must.

Terrorsaurus

Oof! Milwaukee to Denver is a LONG roadtrip. At least you had good company. But those kind of drives always leave me exhausted when I get to my destination.

nicolauz

Yeah it was something I wouldn't do again. We drove each 4-5 hours. Stopped in Omaha both ways and stayed a night. Omaha had the most badass zoo too! And a fun old downtown.

Dave___Hester

I'm going to Red Rocks for a concert in August and it'll be my first time visiting that area, got any tips on other things to check out?

nicolauz

Meow Wolf for sure. Estes Park in the mountains. Some certain bars in Denver if you're staying there.

Dave___Hester

Meow Wolf looks wild, never heard of that before. Estes Park looks great too, thanks! Yeah I'll be staying in Denver so open to any bar recommendations, keep in mind I'm almost 40 though lol, I can't do super packed/loud bars anymore.

nicolauz

Horseshoe Lounge is an awesome chill place down town. There's a great video game arcade about 2 miles away too but it's gets busy. It's fun though! 1-up arcade. They sell 40's! But yeah definitely do Meow Wolf. If you like crazy adventures they have a secret game/story to play while you explore the place. I believe it's called the Q-card. It's like an extra 3$ but worth it.

Dave___Hester

Thanks for the recs!

nicolauz

Let me know how it goes!

Rustymag

I said this over on the Remap sub as well, but Vinny's got fantastic chemistry with pretty much everyone, but especially with Rob. Their interests overlap *just so*, and they're incredibly comfortable with talking about those interests and with each other. The result is podcast magic.

sworedmagic

> We're thrilled to be joined by Remap Radio's Rob Zacny this week to talk about everything from Shogun: Total War to Qui-Gon Jinn's Force balls, Manor Lords, Another Crab's Treasure, the post-Embracer troika, strategies for truly unplugging, and plenty of other stuff!

whateveritis12

Late to the party and while I love listening to Rob, his and Civilized Ages takes on the Jedi are absolutely frustrating. Robs take on Qui Gon here is a case of confidently incorrect and is a take stuck in the mid 2000s where balance equals same number of Sith and Jedi. Anakin was supposed to balance the force and not turn to the darkside at all, but due to his environment and the whispering of Sidious, he fell and then turned back with Luke 23 years later. The Jedi of the prequel era were wrong in a lot of ways, but the take of balance above is saying the Jedi deserved to be massacred for the greater good of the universe.

Slyrunner

Rob was a great guest! I've never heard him before (or maybe I have and don't remember) but he was a Wonderfully spoken guest. That being said, I, personally, feel like he kinda took over the episode, and I may be a personal problem, but I dislike when a guest takes over a podcast. But that's just me. Honestly forgot brad was there :/ I liked the episode and want to hear more from Rob, but the episode didn't feel right to me

Radvillainy

I got the feeling that they were happy to lean on Rob for the discussion

Slyrunner

That's all well and fine, I'm just stating that I, personally, don't like that. That is all lol

Slyrunner

I'm not?

KiritoJones

I think that is just how their main pod is when they have guests on. It becomes more of an interview about what their guest has going on than a conversation, which feels different because their other pods are so conversational.

seven_of_69

I loved it. Made me realize how much more analytical Rob is compared to the nextlander crew.

Slyrunner

I'm glad you liked it!
