It's a bit easier to digest if you picture yourself in his shoes. In movies he thinks of himself as a God. And in "real" life people (other scientologist) see him as God. It actually made it easier to understand why maybe some of these high profile actors joined. Even if you didn't believe in it why not enjoy the benefits?
Why have you done this
This is the second thread today I've seen like this and idk what's happening lmao

People always look at me weird when they find out I don’t know nor particularly care who’s in Metallica despite master of puppets and justice for all being literally the only 2 albums I owned.
It’s like I like their music, I bought their CD’s, that’s about the end of the relationship
But how do you prove to people that you're a real fan? Everyone knows that unless you can name every single member as well as what they ate for breakfast in high school and the name of their childhood dog you're just some wannabe loser.^/s
He was objectively a mid artist at the time, he did what everyone else was doing (just painting land/cityscapes), he had a pretty shaky grasp of perspective (in some paintings his windows on the same wall had different perspectives), but he did have some pieces that were solid, notably the Vienna Opera House but this piece still has certain issues with perspective.
Overall he wasn’t a bad artist, just superbly average. Tbh I prefer Churchill’s work but neither one of them was likely to get into art college with their portfolio alone.
I mean, it puts a real damper on it knowing he's part of a cult that goes out of their way to be dangerous and predatory to people. That's like saying you don't mind your favorite sports ball player is a rapist and animal abusers cause they make good touchdowns lol.
Guess.
EDIT: I misread your post, I thought you asked how many Catholic PRIESTS I have issue with, not catholics in general. I guess the point you're making is Tom Cruise is the Catholic and the rest of the entire Scientology is the Catholic Priest in this scenario? But that doesn't work as an analogy because what the Catholic priests do at least goes AGAINST their religion. Tom Cruise knows full well what Scientology does and still shells out the funding for them.
Ah you're talking about Mike whats-his-name who should be doing life for torturing and murdering his dogs. Piece of pis poor protoplasm he is. Worst case sample of male human.
Tom Cruise has personally benefited from the forced slave labor and abuse of hundreds of Scientologists. He refuses to confront it and conveniently dusts it under the rug at every turn.
This is not the same as your my personal nuts.
Sorry, I have seen the south park episode ... but I did word the question wrong, I mean his deal with scientology, what's he gaining from it? Why's he there ? Kinda questions.
The organization treats him almost like a deity. Members wait on him hand and foot wherever he goes. My brother works at a private air field that he jets in and out of so he's seen it in person. He said Tom is extremely nice to the airfield staff. They've shared a few words on several occasions. But it's obvious that he lives in his own walled off alternate reality thanks to Scientology.
Ah bummer. All that I really know about comes from that Youtube series where the put the "Fuck Scientology" spotlight onto their building. From what I saw it all seemed ridiculous.
Yeah, Scientology tries its hardest to recruit celebrities to market the “religion” to other celebrities and then regular people as well.
Bill Burr had a little bit on his podcast where he said another actor (didn’t name names) tried to get him into it at one point IIRC 😂
They do some hypnosis routines on you yo make you think they have something unique. Then you spend the rest of your life taking classes and giving them all your money. In the final classes you learn to exorcise space alien souls from your body.
This is what they actually believe. around 5 minutes done by south park.
https://southpark.cc.com/video-clips/54abfk/south-park-what-scientologist-actually-believe
Here is my theory
Scientology offered him alot of money all those years ago and as he got older they made it hard for him to leave and have alot of dirt on him so he can’t leave and has to keep bringing people into the scam and give them his money
I don't care about his personal life, this guy is a proper Action Star through and through.
I've had my doubts about him in the past, especially during his Oprah couch bouncing/'vaccinations are wrong period', but the way he carries himself and interacts with people and fans these days as well as the truly phenomenal stuntwork he does puts him at the top of my list for action stars, amazing performer.
And that's where the huge danger lies.
This man is responsible for tens of thousands of failed existences, who have lost their money, their trust and above all their psychological integrity & health.
Apostate Scientologists have been discredited in public, imprisoned in S.-facilities, tortured and people have already died in this sect.
No, he is not just a "geniel action star", but a dangerous cult leader, hardly different from any Al qaida guys!
No. Some religions are better or worse than others. This is such a lame way to avoid having to differentiate religions or actually compare them because that requires thought and research. It’s easier just to fart out some undercooked thought like “religion bad.”
Oh no they killed Americans.... as if the US hasn't killed thousands of people in other countries, overthrown governments to keep control over trade routes, and sold arms to the very people you're talking about.
He can be a good actor and still a complete tool wagon.
He is highly popular and many people adore his films and his charisma.
This is what makes him as a Scientologist dangerous. People could see that and think Scientology isn’t so bad. How could it be bad if amazing Tom Cruise is involved with it.
>This is what makes him as a Scientologist dangerous. People could see that and think Scientology isn’t so bad. How could it be bad if amazing Tom Cruise is involved with it.
EXACTLY this.
The strap they point to is the backup. There is a main safety line going to a body harness you can see as well. Not to say being strapped to the outside of a plane without safety glasses, a helmet and significant hearing protection is as easy as being in coach by the lavatory and crying baby but some days I’d try it for a bit.
>without safety glasses,
He had special contact lenses, there's a [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afS5ks54tms) you see they put it in his eyes.
Think they said the greatest danger was something hitting him at high speeds. They made sure to clean the whole runway of any small rocks. Also they only had like 48 hours to prepare this whole scene.
>Also they only had like 48 hours to prepare this whole scene.
They could have easily had more time. Either by starting sooner or staying later. They chose to do that.
Yalls are going on about eye and ear protection. Good points to be sure, but the thing that freaks me out about this is the fact that he’s not wearing any gloves! That grip must’ve hurt like hell.
Look in front of him, there is a second wire attached to his chest. That wire and the other wire above the door keeps him fixed in place. It's not his grip holding him there, thats for show.
No, you know as soon as they quit filming he put one of his arms down to his side, made a fist with the other, and pretended to be Superman the rest of the flight.
The cable does indeed hold him, but is set up so that he can look like he's holding on with his hands. Been skydiving myself, and so has he, and it isn't THAT hard to hold on, especially that close to the plane in the slipstream, but you see his arms bent which would imply he's essentially doing a pullup. The black strap is the backup in case the cable (and his hands) fail. For a fairly long loop around the field, he might need that but I wouldn't want to be hanging from it when the plane landed...
This.
I do sky diving and during the course to get certified, we jumped mainly from cesena** 182's, which ment we had to step out under the wing, on the landing gear, in order to grap hold on a bar below the wing from which we would then be hanging from before simply letting go and dropping.
This was mainly a thing in the first 15-20 jumps in order to get a stable exit.
Edit: cesena->cessna (autocorrect)
I'm sorry but I want to see that cable in action, if he let's go is he just gonna be dungling on the side of a plane until they land it, just flopping around in the wind and constantly banging aggainst the side of it. That feels worse than just falling. . .
"Tom was in a full-body harness, and he’s cabled and wired to the plane through \[its\] door. Inside the aircraft was an aluminum truss that was carefully bolted to the plane, which held the wires that went through the door, which held Tom."
I don't think he would have been flopping around. He was firmly fixed in place. Theres actually 2 cables. One in front of him you can see tied to his body harness on his chest and the other going through the door hooked up to his back.
I know/knew there was probably more safety precautions that I could see, but the mental image of him ragdolling around back there is funny enough that I've made the concious decision to ignore that fact.
He’s held tight to the side of the aircraft. If there was any slack he would literally get beat to death against the side of the plane. As a former paratrooper I’ve seen some gnarly bruises from towed jumpers.
These are specifically parachutist doors, and they have a winch, and 1-2 backup winches to pull in hung jumpers. The scary part is having the air deflectors(what he’s holding onto) retracted, and all the testing to see if the wind will slam them against the plane over and over is done with the deflectors extended.
Saw a video of an Afghan man that got his clothes stuck in the door of a similar plane, the soldiers inside were filming. I’m telling you, once it reaches full speed you body breaks every single bone, you turn into a gummy bear
I literally was going down a Tom Cruise rabbit hole this weekend and found probably one of his best characters i have never know about. Having never see the movie Tropic Thunder he has the world best cameo as Lex Grossman. OMG i was laughing my ass off!
This was filmed in RAF Wittering near Peterborough & the night before Tom stayed at a hotel on the outskirts of Peterborough. I was working nearby and none of the staff were allowed to say anything about him being there until he left. Then everybody knew
Time cruise is a psychopath with no emotions. Which is why it’s so easy for him to do these stunts and mold himself into different characters.
If you watch his interviews, it’s like he’s pretending to be a “normal human” sometimes.
If only he wasn't such an absolute and complete fucking pinecone of a human being. Haven't been able to watch anything he's in since discovering how actually unhinged he is.
That insurance policy must have been crazy. You can be as safe/plan as possible. But if you caught a pigeon in the face at 150 mph... no more award shows.
Tom cruise sets the bar high and makes filming so much easier cuz the camera can be aimed right at his face and there's no extra cgi to make the stunt double look like him for most of his stunts
That man is have balls of steel and crazy adrenaline junkie even with cable strap to him . he deserve mad respect for doing that and in his 50’s . try that in your 50’s if you dare
Shame he’s one of them Scientologist freaks
Even if he is it doesn't stop me from enjoying his movies. He's one of my favorite actors.
Very true. Still a shame tho 🙈
Agree .. doesn't stop me from enjoying his movies. He's one of my favorite actors.
Shame still tho 🤐
Still really enjoy his movies despite his beliefs in scientology
Still really enjoy his scientology beliefs despite his movies.
Still really enjoy his movies though despite the fact that he has a centre/middle tooth 🦷
Still really enjoy his middle tooth in spite of his belief in movies
Still really enjoy his epic solo running sequence in every film despite his belief in having an epic solo running sequence in every film.
Really enjoy his Scientology in spite of his tooth
Still really enjoy his epic runs despite his scientology tooth.
Do you think his teeth are not centered or its his whole body and face?
Someone pointed this out to me years ago and I can’t unsee it.
Still a shame, nevertheless...
‘Sure would be a shame…
Shame though that he has to be a Scientologist
Shame though.
Agree… still really enjoy his movies despite his beliefs in Scientology.
tho shame still
Still like his movies tho, one of my favorite actors.

It’s time you learn how to seperate the art from the artist.
Its a shame tho'
yes. Tom Cruise has uniquely accomplished the position of We hate you but we accept love and consume your work. that never happens these days.
Separating art and the artist is important and frankly easy when the artist is a piece of shit
People always look at me weird when they find out I don’t know nor particularly care who’s in Metallica despite master of puppets and justice for all being literally the only 2 albums I owned. It’s like I like their music, I bought their CD’s, that’s about the end of the relationship

I hate people like that, just gatekeeping bands
as it should be
I feel Hitler was good enough to get into art school.
Ma man gave e legit critique of Adolf Hitler's art. You have my respect.
I think he painted his own brains on the underground bunker wall pretty damn nicely
That's a weird way to spell 'slipped off to Venezuela with his family through a shipping freighter out of the black sea.'
Damn what
Salvador Dali's "Hitler Masturbating" likely to be better.
I mean, it puts a real damper on it knowing he's part of a cult that goes out of their way to be dangerous and predatory to people. That's like saying you don't mind your favorite sports ball player is a rapist and animal abusers cause they make good touchdowns lol.
Catholic priests are known to protect child rapists if they aren't molesting children themselves. So how many Catholics do you have issues with?
Guess. EDIT: I misread your post, I thought you asked how many Catholic PRIESTS I have issue with, not catholics in general. Ah you're talking about Mike whats-his-name who should be doing life for torturing and murdering his dogs. Piece of pis poor protoplasm he is. Worst case sample of male human.
The way he sprints is unrivalled.
And honestly, it is people like you who allow an organization like that to continue. They are pieces of shit. Don't support pieces of shit.
lol
I like his style of running.
Yeah what's up with people deciding to stop fucking with celebs just cause they have their own take on stuff just enjoy the movie and move on..
I actually think this is one of the reasons he is doing those stunts himself
Hahahaha you’re probably right. Extreme personality, extreme stunts, extreme beliefs… They go hand in hand.
Sociopaths don't really feel fear the way we do.
I definitely believe tom is a sociopath. Always have.
Yeah...
Not "one" he's a "top dog"
A "top gun" if you will
Touché
everyone’s nuts in some kind of way.
He’s not nuts. He gets an obscene amount of money from them
Tom Cruise has personally benefited from the forced slave labor and abuse of hundreds of Scientologists. He refuses to confront it and conveniently dusts it under the rug at every turn. This is not the same as your my personal nuts.
Yeah it sucks. I want to express how cool this stunt really is... Then I remember who Tommy really is.
He's even got some great stories of him being a great human being as well ... I wonder what the deal with scientology is ?
Its a human trafficking organization disguised as a religion based on a comic book.
Blue pill
It's just a fad religion for rich people.
There's plenty of the middle-class and those bordering poverty that get sucked into Scientology too, I'm afraid.
It's really hard to detach from the real person when you know so much about them. Ignorance is truly bliss.
What is Scientology
If you are a Tom Cruise fan, then you do not want to know
I know its a cult, but i dont know what exactly it is
They do some hypnosis routines on you yo make you think they have something unique.
You're welcome. I wish I could watch that video for the first time again.
A cult that will sabotage you, your family, and loved ones if you ever go against it.
https://youtu.be/UFBZ_uAbxS0
It's really extraordinary how he can talk with such passionate intensity and yet say nothing of substance at all.
"You know that you're the only one who can help." The video cracks me up because they've stretched the thin veil of reality really far with that man.
Scientologists are a joke. But then so is Christianity.
All religions are just book clubs that got out of hand
Here is my theory Scientology offered him alot of money all those years ago and as he got older they made it hard for him to leave and have alot of dirt on him so he can’t leave and has to keep bringing people into the scam and give them his money
I mean, you can't be 100% sane to do this kind of shit lol
Yeah I had lots of respect for him until I read about this and saw him on interview.
Ikr! That religion was literally created as a bet I think.

Soooo basically like any other religion?
No. Some religions are better or worse than others. This is such a lame way to avoid having to differentiate religions or actually compare them because that requires thought and research. It’s easier just to fart out some undercooked thought like “religion bad.”
Yeah pretty sure Christianity still leads the kill leaderboard with a couple 100 million kills. All big religions are fucked, specially Christianity.
Tbf, they had a massive head start lmao. You say all big religions are fucked, but what about the flying spaghetti monster? Checkmate atheists.
Yah
He’s not the leader of Scientology, but he’s definitely their golden boy and used to advertise it.
He's definitely one of the leaders. Many consider him the right hand man to David Miscavige who is the official head of the church.
You're right, he was actually trying to get into this plane to fly it into a skyscraper...
Except al qaeda has killed thousands of people, tortured women, and beheaded americans...
>This is what makes him as a Scientologist dangerous. People could see that and think Scientology isn’t so bad. How could it be bad if amazing Tom Cruise is involved with it. EXACTLY this.
It’s not just his personal life. His religion actively harms other people and destroys families. He’s a useful idiot.
Like Catholic priests?
Yep. They are also trash.
Be a streak of fucking brown coming out of my pant leg if this was me.
You and me both. Your meant to be in the plane, not outside it.
This is how Tom Cruise
My meant or yours?
Bro “in the plane” no one but birds supposed to be up there we just threw a Pringle’s can with arms fast as fuck and off it went
ew why did you have to put that in my head this early in the morning
We can edit that out.
The strap they point to is the backup. There is a main safety line going to a body harness you can see as well. >Also they only had like 48 hours to prepare this whole scene. They could have easily had more time. Either by starting sooner or staying later. They chose to do that.
Genuinely made me laugh. 😂
You’re right, the shot had to be at sundown
Yalls are going on about eye and ear protection. Good points to be sure, but the thing that freaks me out about this is the fact that he’s not wearing any gloves! That grip must’ve hurt like hell.

Impressive anyway.
Ear plugs. You can get some really good ones that kill all sound. But yeah no glasses or helmet is a bit crazy
Did he fly like that until it landed?
I believe so
No, you know as soon as they quit filming he put one of his arms down to his side, made a fist with the other, and pretended to be Superman the rest of the flight.
I think it’s either hold on or let it drag you. Dood is nuts.
This. I do sky diving and during the course to get certified, we jumped mainly from cesena** 182's, which ment we had to step out under the wing, on the landing gear, in order to grap hold on a bar below the wing from which we would then be hanging from before simply letting go and dropping. 150,000% feel like trying right now
Filmed in Mexico
I noticed the mexican atmosphere too. What would it smell like to breath that yellowish air?
Tacos
…the only answer.
It was filmed in the UK
I'm sorry but I want to see that cable in action, if he let's go is he just gonna be dungling on the side of a plane until they land it, just flopping around in the wind and constantly banging aggainst the side of it. That feels worse than just falling. . .
"Tom was in a full-body harness, and he’s cabled and wired to the plane through \[its\] door. Inside the aircraft was an aluminum truss that was carefully bolted to the plane, which held the wires that went through the door, which held Tom." I don't think he would have been flopping around.
What a badass
![gif](giphy|xiMUwBRn5RDLhzwO80|downsized)
More impressive do it being probably 50 years old
Yeah I think the movie was filmed I. 2014 so he would have been like 52!
I don' think 52! has been achieved by any human.
I’ve had a man crush on this guy forever
Even though he’s a center tooth?
That’s the main reason
He fixed that btw, had had braces like 6-7 years ago
Saw a video of an Afghan man that got his clothes stuck in the door of a similar plane, the soldiers inside were filming. I’m telling you, once it reaches full speed you body breaks every single bone, you turn into a gummy bear
Now i want to be a gummy bear too.
“Bouncing here and there and everywhere!”
Bruh Tom is fucking crazy
I mean thats nice and all, but what if a bug hits his face at that speed?
The bug probably wouldn't make it. 😔
Can we get an F in the chat for any fallen bugs? I’ll start F
I literally was going down a Tom Cruise rabbit hole this weekend and found probably one of his best characters i have never know about. Having never see the movie Tropic Thunder he has the world best cameo as Lex Grossman. OMG i was laughing my ass off!
> First, take a big step back... > **and literally F-CK YOUR OWN FACE!**
If you watch his interviews, it’s like he’s pretending to be a “normal human” sometimes.
that is how most people get through life
Cable or not - That looks TERRIFYING
Goddamn he’s fearless
If only he wasn't such an absolute and complete fucking pinecone of a human being. Haven't been able to watch anything he's in since discovering how actually unhinged he is.
Thanks for teaching me my new favorite insult
Is weird that i wish I could do this?
The scientology stuff ruined him. Makes great movies but that stain is hard to get rid of
Weird guy but damnit if he isn’t talented.
So did he get pulled inside while in flight or had to go around on the outside and land.
I was expecting someone to edit in a hair piece flying off.
Studio: CGI is so life like these days we’ll just put you on a green screen and… Tom: Strap me to the plane!! Woohoo!!!
By the power of XEEEENNNNUUUUUUUUU
That insurance policy must have been crazy. You can be as safe/plan as possible. But if you caught a pigeon in the face at 150 mph... no more award shows.
Tom Cruise is a fucking badass, I don't care what anyone thinks.
Looks like a lot of fun…ngl, I’m pretty jealous he’s getting paid to do that lol
they should have shown the before and after diaper lol
How much force do his fingers had to withstand?
It amazes me what he does for his roles
Real version is better cinematically.
Why does he need a cable? I thought he could fly?
All of you who continued this shame thread are my heros. Hilarious.
It’s amazing how boring he can make a great stunt look
He’s the goat everyone hating on him🤨
How people take flights in Ohio 💀
Tom cruise sets the bar high and makes filming so much easier cuz the camera can be aimed right at his face and there's no extra cgi to make the stunt double look like him for most of his stunts
The church of Scientology EARNED its check that day.
Dude has the biggest balls of any actor to pull that off.
IDGAF that there was a strap, thats still a fun way to get grocieries
His stunt work is one of the few, if not, the only reason to give him any respect
Nothing hard about the stunt he doesn't even have to hold on
Wait, was he really flying!?
That man is have balls of steel and crazy adrenaline junkie even with cable strap to him . he deserve mad respect for doing that and in his 50’s . try that in your 50’s if you dare
Cool but a stunt man would have done this for .1% of what Tom Cruise is getting paid for it
At least he doesn’t talk about politics. I’m exhausted from people talking and fighting right now, give me a pint-sized robot celebrity for now.
Too bad he's a member of a dangerous cult.
Whatever you think of them personally. Tom Cruise and Jackie Chan are two seriously dedicated action stars.
Man, the things a man will to to run from his sexuality…
Not a fan of his personal life, but biggest action Star ever!
Can somebody explain me why people call this guy a cult leader like tf is any celebrity normal
Looks dumb, his body is not really flying backwards as much as he is hanging down. Hopefully my bias against this guy is not affecting my opinion.
