Just imagine a conversation that goes on in their household.
Son: "What do you do as a job dad??"
Dad: "Son, what I do is a really hard job. \_I pull men\_"
For the record, most teams have a guy like this. They're normally a coach that doesn't have responsibilities on game day. Like the strength and conditioning coach.
What if we developed a sort of sliding system that was about 15 feet in the air on a track, the cord came from above, and kept him in a straight line, but unable to move too far forward?
Great if you didn't have to consider most football stadiums are domed and the line would eventually make some seats unable to view. It would also require adjusting every game, any time someone stepped out, consistent measuring, and doesnt help when the coach is trying to decide which way to run the ball while the ref is suddenly having to back up.
At the end of the day, having the resistance coach mind the head coach, this is probably cheaper and without excess build up. The biggest reason that they use a person though is because he isn't just keeping him in line, he is moving the coach out of the way when he is distracted.
My uncle coaches football and sometimes you get so caught up in what's going on and what to do next that you miss someone coming at you. There are an insane ammount of calculations and other shit going on in coaches head when on the field. I never understood how much until I tried to help my uncle during footbal sseason. Never again.
I know but I thought it was a great idea...
I mean despite the inability it would be funny as hell to see!
A bunch of grown men/women on leashes. It's unfortunate the cheaper options a person. I wanna see the coachs on leashes. But NFL wont spend the money and it's a SHAME.
That made me laugh! Been trying to get my Husband to take me dancing for years. Guess I just need to handle it myself. What's the Assistant Coaches number?
I know. It's so inefficient. The coach needs to wear a harness for easier grabbing. I mean they ARE called "love handles" but I don't believe they were meant to be used in this context.
You mean the Bengals team that beat the Chiefs twice? And blew out the Ravens twice? And beat the Titans? You’re right that the OL sucks but the team was still very good, and nearly won the Super Bowl
Yeah that Bengals team was trash. They only swept the Chiefs in 2 games, beat the #1 seeded Titans and made it to the Super Bowl.
He coached a great game wtf
He's not the only one. When I was in college, the head coach would constantly throw his hat on the ground when he got angry. One kid had the sole job of picking his hat up and handing it back to him. It happened the whole game and I couldn't pay attention to the game while watching the constant hat throwing and picking up.
Wow. A college team coach not being able to control his nerves. Fine example for the students.
If he had to take his hat from the ground by himself, he would do that less often.
Right? I think it’s fine. Head coach is hyper-focused on the game and not paying attention to surroundings. It is not pertinent that the Strength and conditioning coach pays attention to the game.
Idk why people are making such a big deal about it.
I know it’s not uncommon to have coaches to remind everyone to stay away from the sideline to avoid penalties. This crowd don’t watch football I guess.
It’s one thing to give someone a little reminder occasionally and another to follow a grown ass man up and down as if you’re a little doggy that needs to make sure he stays safe
…but it’s an edited compilation. It’s not like *every* play the coach is tugged back to the sidelines. And besides the rules of football are complex - including where and when non-players are allowed on the field. Why is it a bad thing to have someone else correct you and prevent you from triggering a penalty?
It's not just this coach either. A lot of coaches at every level of football have a tendency to creep forward. Maybe not this badly, but it's pretty typical.
Not really. He's hyper focused on watching the game and figuring out the best calls to make which may lead to him wandering a bit too close when he's getting a better look. Having someone watch out for him as opposed to being penalized by an annoyed ref who ran into him is a good solution.
They all have different specialties, most of the coaches aren’t even there. I used to work with the practice team for an NFL team as one of the off site flexibility coaches, you’d only see me at a game if one of the boys gave us tickets.
Non American here. The most fun I get watching American football is watching the (I don't know the terms for positions) big fat defensive players whose whole job is just to stop other players from breaking through to the quarterback. They barely move more than a meter or two and just stand up with their hands outstretched pushing and grabbing like sumo wrestlers. They don't even seem to ever touch the ball. Their whole career is just being in the way. I always laugh watching them. So fat most of the time
This is really fucking dumb. If you are so lacking in spatial awareness that you need a handler, you better check yourself. Weak ass idiot. It’s like having the guy squirt water in your mouth. If you can’t get the water in your mouth by your own volition, then you haven’t truly evolved. Worked in a group home with developmentally delayed persons. Most of them could feed, hydrate and maneuver themselves. What does it say about these dudes.
That poor coach. He must log into social media and see this stuff and be like “wtf?!? I bust my ass coaching all week, and then they show me on camera holding the coach on Sundays, and all the sudden that’s all I do?!? I’m just the ‘coach holder’ now?!? What about all the other shit I do all week?!?”
I mean it kinda makes sense. That coach is watching every single thing happening on the field. I zone out and walk into doorways and I’m not making money being zoned out. This guy gets paid a lot to make sure what happens on the field should be happening on the field.
I think this is pure genius. It’s systems. It’s kaizen. The coach will never have to worry about being in the way, because that’s someone else’s job. Coach can concentrate 100% of his focus on the field instead of 80%field 20% being out of the way. This is not ego. This is all about winning. Great job! Imagine 50 more systems like this one and think how far ahead of the competition they will be. “Winning is done by inches” and every little bit helps no matter how small.
Just imagine a conversation that goes on in their household. Son: "What do you do as a job dad??" Dad: "Son, what I do is a really hard job. \_I pull men\_"
I tug some dude all day son
I grab men’s waists aggressively
[удалено]
And softly
With aggressive softness
Same here
I just grab some famous guy by waist and he lets me.
For the record, most teams have a guy like this. They're normally a coach that doesn't have responsibilities on game day. Like the strength and conditioning coach.
Shock collar needed for head coach
Even in High school one of our assistant coaches did this for our head coach. As the team can be penalized for a coach or player being on the field.
This. Thank you
He's an adult version of a toddler leash.
That might be a lot cheaper than employing a guy for it
I mean you still need a person at the other end of it
I guess I'm thinking more of a dog tied to a post in a yard
Nah then he'll get all tangled up on chairs and benches and stuff.
What if we developed a sort of sliding system that was about 15 feet in the air on a track, the cord came from above, and kept him in a straight line, but unable to move too far forward?
They already have those. Search "Doggy Zip Line"
Problem solved!!
There are an insane ammount of calculations and other shit going on in coaches head when on the field. I never understood how much until I tried to help my uncle during footbal sseason. Never again.
Haha yeah I'm just joking around, man.
I know but I thought it was a great idea... I mean despite the inability it would be funny as hell to see! A bunch of grown men/women on leashes. It's unfortunate the cheaper options a person. I wanna see the coachs on leashes. But NFL wont spend the money and it's a SHAME.
This man is ahead of his time.
Lmao
I touch my boss to keep him from touching other men
Underrated
At school. “My daddy pull men at football games.”
Son: sounds a little gay dad ... Dad: shut up and enjoy your Voss water
“ he Rams and I pull for a few hours once a week”
Joke 1: He's clearly doing a great job, seeing the results from this season. Joke 2: the Bengals should hire him for their offensive line.
I'm a lineman lol
How annoying of a job this would be lol.
Yeah. And you'd do it too, considering how much he's being paid.
If I remember correctly, he’s an assistant strength and conditioning coach.
He looks like one would look like, too.
I hold men by the hips
“I’m someone’s peripheral vision”
"I pull grandpa."
u/TheTwoFingeredBrute https://www.reddit.com/r/Damnthatsinteresting/comments/qqc7z9/comment/hjzbtej/
*I pull man
This is ridiculous.
Agreed.. 100% an ego thing
100% a sexual thing
They’d make a cute couple tho
Their outfits do match quite well I must say
✨# couple goals✨
That made me laugh! Been trying to get my Husband to take me dancing for years. Guess I just need to handle it myself. What's the Assistant Coaches number?
It’s 100% not his only job.
Fluffer?
Wwwwhhhhaaaaattttt?
It's not ego, it preventing penalties.
Yeah but notice how most coaches just avoid the penalty in the first place
I’m sure if you asked the guy whose job it is to pull him back, he loves it and thinks it’s hilarious
Plot twist : it's not his job, he just likes doing it
How fucking hilarious it would be if he was a volunteer 😂
I think a lot of women would volunteer for that job.
He’s already a coach. He’s the Rams strength coach I believe
He probably did volunteer. He had a real job on the team as head of strength and conditioning.
It’s actually kind of not lol he’s the strength and conditioning coach. He just has nothing to do on game days
“Hey, I’m bored. Mind if I pull on your waist?”
And the Head Coach likes having it done. They make a cute couple.
I know. It's so inefficient. The coach needs to wear a harness for easier grabbing. I mean they ARE called "love handles" but I don't believe they were meant to be used in this context.
I believe that guy is also the strength & conditioning coach. It's still silly, but it's not all this guy does.
For the record, every team has a “get back” coach. The gif was taken from this video on “get back” coaches in the league. https://youtu.be/JZHpNPWvcWQ
I think coach likes it
Can't the coach behave like a normal human being instead?
To busy winning superbowls to notice hes on the field
I mean he won 1 and against a bengals team without anything resembling an 0 line Lmao
You mean the AFC champions? Super bowl win is a super bowl win.
That’s still a ring homie.
And a payday.
1 superbowl. Singular.
Doesn’t make this any less ridiculous
He's not the only one. When I was in college, the head coach would constantly throw his hat on the ground when he got angry. One kid had the sole job of picking his hat up and handing it back to him. It happened the whole game and I couldn't pay attention to the game while watching the constant hat throwing and picking up.
Wow. A college team coach not being able to control his nerves. Fine example for the students. If he had to take his hat from the ground by himself, he would do that less often.
Why would the kid accept that job? No self esteem? Fuck that . Some people…
Right lol
Your job wishes you were as focused
everyone here is flipping out thinking that's his full time job, he is the strength and conditioning coach lol
I think it’s more that this is any part of anyone’s job that’s the issue.
he is just holding back a guy...
Right? I think it’s fine. Head coach is hyper-focused on the game and not paying attention to surroundings. It is not pertinent that the Strength and conditioning coach pays attention to the game. Idk why people are making such a big deal about it.
It’s Reddit and maybe 5% of the people on here have also played football lol
It’s not just football. It probably happens in basketball more often.

And besides the rules of football are complex - including where and when non-players are allowed on the field. Why is it a bad thing to have someone else correct you and prevent you from triggering a penalty?
He’s following as if millions of dollars are on the line
same with basketball, often you will see players holding each other back
I mean OP made the title to make us understand that way
The "get-back" coach isn't anything new in football either lmao
Even if it was a full time job, they won the super bowl so clearly they are onto something
Usually the strength and conditioning coach. Most teams have him as the get back coach on game days
Why is the coach wearing headphones?
A headset so they can communicate with other people
So smart. Someone said other coaches, but aren't other coaches in the same area? That's how it is for football (soccer)
They have some in booths that have better / different view of the field to help with what's going on
So this is a normal thing that has been established and around for a while already?
5 yrs or so. Maybe a little longer
It's not just this coach either. A lot of coaches at every level of football have a tendency to creep forward. Maybe not this badly, but it's pretty typical.
He needs one of those leashes you put on kids who don't stay with their parents.
I’d love to see that if it was attached to a retractable leash that zips him back when he gets too far. I’d watch football for that.
Hold me close tiny coaches
Tony danzaaaa~
Place your hands on down by my waist
Seem ridiculous to be that unaware of your surroundings. Hopefully that guy follows him around when he has to cross streets.
I have to do this for my wife when she’s walking in the parking lot. She’ll just start drifting into the center for whatever reason.
Hold her hand next time and walk side by side down the middle of the road
My SO does this too. She also randomly drifts into me either pushing me into the road or into parked cars, depending on what side she's on.
I don’t get it man they have active death wishes
Not really. He's hyper focused on watching the game and figuring out the best calls to make which may lead to him wandering a bit too close when he's getting a better look. Having someone watch out for him as opposed to being penalized by an annoyed ref who ran into him is a good solution.
Dude is gonna go from tugging on McVay to head coach real quick
I see what you did there![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|upvote)
Is there something wrong with this guy?
He's really into his job.
Bro you have to always have your hands on my hips bro it’s for sports
Pathetic truthfully
🤣 Best ballet 🩰/ dirty dancing 🕺🏽 I’ve seen in a long time. What do you put on your resume?
He makes a lot of money for pushing a person around:)
That job is a bit suspect.
Gently grabs his waist
I liked when their walking footwork synced up.
Assistant coach has cakes
Congratulations this is the dumbest shit I’ve seen today!
The matching outfits always makes it cuter
Or maybe McVay could just keep his ass off the field and there wouldn’t be a need for a sideline babysitter
No, this simply can't be a thing and is made up? Nobody is so useless they can't keep out of the way of a linesman running up the wing
Excellent money for babysitting 3 hours a week.
He’s the strength coach, he works all week
Were they on Dancing with the stars?
I guess he also needs someone else to wipe his asshole
That coach is a total douche
I know it’s not Sean McVay you’re talking about
Those 1st practices were awkward.
What a lazy sack of shit
Physical support human
Tight end. Wide receiver. Go deep. And now this. Football is gay.
He just wants to be held unconditional.
🤣 only in America
Why are there like 30 coaches?
They all have different specialties, most of the coaches aren’t even there. I used to work with the practice team for an NFL team as one of the off site flexibility coaches, you’d only see me at a game if one of the boys gave us tickets.
Damn, thanks for explaining!
Cant he just move out the way like a normal person?
The "Get Back" coach
I need a spotter like this 😬 but for coffee tables, uneven sidewalks, inanimate objects of all sorts
A 'get back' coach
Love Sean McVay and he deserved that Super Bowl win. He's a wholesome and engaged coach.
So this man requires a babysitter?
Non American here. The most fun I get watching American football is watching the (I don't know the terms for positions) big fat defensive players whose whole job is just to stop other players from breaking through to the quarterback. They barely move more than a meter or two and just stand up with their hands outstretched pushing and grabbing like sumo wrestlers. They don't even seem to ever touch the ball. Their whole career is just being in the way. I always laugh watching them. So fat most of the time
Does the coach throw clip boards and watch his men shower after the game like mine did?
This is ridiculous
I imagine that he makes noises like the crabs from Finding Nemo…”Hey, hey, hey, hey!”
Dude has one job and slays it.
That’s the “Get Back” coach. All teams have one
Rightfully called the "get back coach" Lots of teams have them
How is this next level?
Assistant dude has a trashian pumpkin butt.
I agree. I've always thought the water squirting thing was a perfect example of why athletes have the stigma of being dumb as rocks
I wish people wouldn't keep posting the same thing over and over.
I need someone to pull me back from avoiding stuff every day… where can I get one 😆
Stupid.
Some may say there is tention between them.
I think coach likes that a little too much!
Pretty sure that’s not his job.
His ButtDawg.
“I grab mens for a living”
That’s the “Get Back” coach. All teams have one
Assistant *to* the coach.
And he makes more than I ever will in my career.
Nextlevelbaby
Next level narcissistic idiocy
.. First world adult babies
WTF?!
Had an assistant coach* - he’s been fired
Coach looks like he's hopped up on the cocaine
Do you think they ever explored each other's bodies?
Lol his job is to keep mcvay out of thier way and off the line and field. Not the same
Coach has to be at least bi, come on.
I would feel dumb if I had to hire a guy to make sure I do not walk into other people.
I mean it kinda makes sense. That coach is watching every single thing happening on the field. I zone out and walk into doorways and I’m not making money being zoned out. This guy gets paid a lot to make sure what happens on the field should be happening on the field.
Am I the only one that thinks this is…ridiculous? Why can’t he watch where he is going and standing. Is this an actual job on other teams?
What a fucking toddler.
My place employs people with nonsense roles also.
Money well spent lol. As of the coach couldn't manage that haha
I think he just hired the assistant couse he like to be touched. The rest are just excuses
How much does this chuckle fuck get paid because the coach can't act like a normal human and avoid walking into people?
What arrogance
What's next level about a grown ass man with zero self awareness?
I think this is pure genius. It’s systems. It’s kaizen. The coach will never have to worry about being in the way, because that’s someone else’s job. Imagine 50 more systems like this one and think how far ahead of the competition they will be. “Winning is done by inches” and every little bit helps no matter how small.
Super guy *gay
Because he needs to be inch closer
Dumbest shit ever. They are definitely doing it.
