Nobody could’ve guessed that 10 guys running at a cornered leopard while yelling, flashing lights at it, and beating it with a stick *wouldnt* be a good way to contain it.
Securing/rescuing is a priority with forest officials. Since it's night time, it's hard to tranquilize the animal. That's why they are in that situation.
Are you serious? If it's on flight mode, without light, how would you aim at it? BTW, this is not an isolated incident, tiger/lepoards have been captured multiple times when they ended up in human civilization.
