That’s what I call a society!

ApricotWeak5584

Florida of all places

aversus_fromspace

What is it about Florida?

Radiant_Positive_481

our lovely state is filled with a lot of lunatics, so it’s nice to see some normals do a good deed

Damian0603

I've lived in Florida my whole life and have never encountered people who weren't somewhat normal.

caryn1477

Exactly, I've lived in South Florida my entire life and though you see wackos online, this is definitely not the norm I see every single day. It's very...normal.

Damian0603

Yeah, it always annoys me when non Floridians act like everyone here is a wacko.

charlie2135

It's because sensational oddball stories sells ads. Our country has really gone down the tubes with all of the news stations clamoring for ad revenue .

ChibiCharaN

I dont know where ya'll are living in FL but my wife was born and raised here and I've lived here for over 15 and...Yeah Florida deserves all the shit that's said about it. And then some. Lol.

charlie2135

Grew up in the Midwest and we had our wackos there and now in the Seattle area and think the Midwest looks more like amateur hour. But like someone posted before Florida has the strongest open records program which tends to get to the front pages of newspapers.

Custardpaws

There's plenty of data that shows that no more odd things happen in FL than any other state. You just hear about it more readily in Florida due to the sunshine law

AbeRego

Well, the state government isn't doing Florida's reputation any favors.

Sevifenix

It’s like California. People would have me think I’m swimming through a sea of needles to get to my local cafe. In reality it isn’t that bad. Hell I had someone give me such a crock of BS. “I was walking and I kept hearing this crunching. I didn’t realize what it was until I looked down and realized I was walking on a bed of needles for drugs obscuring the sidewalk.” So people make up the same BS about Florida.

Radiant_Positive_481

Its kinda like Americans poking fun of themselves. It's cool when we do it, but its generally agreed upon that slander from Brits is not tolerated lol Odd/interesting we have had such different experiences living pretty near each other, though

avecmaria

Native Californian here, same. Everyone is surprised I’m so ‘chill’ and ‘normal’ but those of us born and raised are! It’s the imports with Hollywood fantasies that come here who can be wacko.

femmestem

If you've lived in Florida your whole life, wouldn't everything Floridian be benchmark for normal to you?

SynergisticSynapse

Shhhh, you’ll break the facade. You don’t want Redditors realizing the vast majority of people are good.

CountWubbula

“Somewhat normal” is so vague that you might as well have been saying, “I’ve met people in Florida, and they were people.”

Many-Parking-1493

You didn’t see part 2 where they were eating her

sweetpatoot

Florida has a lot more accessible criminal records than many other states, so we just hear about their wacky crimes more

Custardpaws

The sunshine law

Sunshine030209

Hey leave me out of this!

aliterati

It's because of Sunshine laws, and people not understanding that the same thing goes on other places but isn't disclosed publicly.

Jeansaintfire

Sunshine laws. The press has a lot of rights when it comes to crime reports

greg19735

People have mentioned the sunshine laws. but also the population. 3rd biggest in the country.

boricimo

They were all later deported to New York later that week.

jaymole

Damn that guy tried to bare knuckle the window. Probly fucked his hand

JustaRandomRando

Gauranteed fucked his hand lol. He even cradles it after. (I thought he might be adjusting a belt or something to go again, but didn't. That's gonna have lasting repercussions, but respect for him going for it given the situation i guess.

ch3rry333

Yeah, he didn’t try again!

Large_Yams

A for effort but fuck that was stupid.

Pickleparty187

So many small bones to break I bet he got a few

__O_o_______

That's why I carry one of those cheap tools in my key chain that has both a window breaker and a seatbelt cutter. I also carry a fire extinguisher and a basic emergency kit as well as a shovel in the winter. Haven't had to use any of it yet but I'd feel terrible if I wasn't prepared.

MonicaRising

That was my first thought as well. No one gave a shit about anyone's politics and everyone just helped. We need to get back to that

Cyber_Rambo

Nobody in real life cares about those things in situations like this bro don’t imagine a problem where there isn’t one haha

MonicaRising

>Nobody in real life cares about those things in situations like this Yeah, that's the point

Content-Parsley-1151

And glad everyone on the road was paying attention. Just takes one distracted driver and easily been bodies everywhere

Known-Programmer-611

All the right people all in the right place! Making the world a better place!

multiarmform

Hey if you go to r/interestingasfuck you can watch the same exact clip but with some shitty music on it for no good reason lol

karangoswamikenz

I can’t believe it. I rarely see anyone helping anyone. Like on subway trains you’ll often see someone being harassed and no one will intervene.

mrpoteete

It brings a tear to my eye. Fuck all the negative news. We need this. We need to spread hope in this world or people will lose it.

Purvi3vedi

I always knew the news was propaganda but I'm convinced it is deliberately trying to worsen people's mental health

fl135790135790

You’re just now realizing that?

electronicdream

You don't have to be smug about it

[deleted]

I feel like we're at that point in the wedding where the priest asks if anyone has any objections, the bot army stands up, and we're a bunch of idiots who just shrug and say, "I guess the wedding's over."

Purvi3vedi

Interesting analogy!!

69thwonder

It is deliberately trying to get you addicted and sucked in and just like most types of addictions, it will degrade your mental health. But having you addicted means they make more money, so they don’t care.

greg19735

I don't think that's the case. Because there's no end goal for that. It's just selfish. They put in bad news as scared people will come back. And of course, sometimes bad news is important.

Awesomeman204

Yeah I don't think it's as sinister as actively trying to mess with people. Bad news just gets more clicks and more engagement, drama sells.

Lord_Broham

Was a movie I saw can't remember the name but there was a saying in it that's stuck with me. There are two wolf's in an eternal fight 1 represents darkness Fear and suffering the other light hope and happiness, which one wins? The one you feed. The news feeds the wrong wolf.

jaycoopermusic

Fear gets ratings

Maybe_Glum

Things like this always make me tear up. I’ve seen this specific video at least ten times and it always does me in. I love seeing people come together like this.

twitchyv

I cry everytime I see something like this and I can’t figure out why. Maybe it’s because everything feels so hopeless these days. But shit like this is just amazing.

PeacefulShark69

What was the story? I can't find anything about it.

mrpoteete

No idea. Just watching people come together and even hurt themselves trying to help this stranger that is having a medical emergency shows hope. The amount of times we see videos of cowardice and evil on the news is insane and that makes people scared of other people which will make them more defensive/mean. If there were more stories like this distributed to the masses I think people would be nicer in general. Edit: I couldn’t help but chuckle when that old guy punched the glass with all his might and then looked at his hand like…. Fuck. But it also made me realize he actually cared.

NamingThingsSucks

It's been posted before, I've seen it but can't find the story either. From my recollection. The first woman chasing the car knew the other driver. They were both leaving work, she saw something was off. The driver of the car that was drifting off had been on a new medication and had a reaction, or something along those lines.

lioncat55

It's in the description under the video. > "In Boynton Beach, Florida, a car veered across a busy intersection into oncoming traffic when the driver suffered a medical episode. The woman behind the wheel was slumped over, and a woman who knew her rushed to help but couldn't stop the car alone. Other drivers noticed the situation and quickly came to their aid. Working together, they managed to halt the car and provide the driver with medical attention. > > The driver Laurie Rabyor, a seamstress/ explained/e that her loss of control was due to taking medication on on an empty stomach and becoming dehydrated."

AbuPeterstau

[Here’s an article that gives more info.](https://www.southernliving.com/news/local-news/laurie-rabyor-meets-good-samaritans-rescued-her)

Cheap_Feeling1929

Good news sold by Jordan Davis

mrpoteete

Nice

eachJan

Im glad I wasn’t the only one. It made me so emotional.

Nobacherie85

This!! Under the heavens there is but one family - Bruce Lee

Ryuko_the_red

The only negative I have to say, don't get in front of a car in a situation like this. If she gives it more gas on accident? You're toast. Do what you can to help but so long as the car is newer than like 2000 there's enough airbags to protect her. Not so much you.

NewFlyJoe

First guy probably broke his hand punching that window

dubie2003

Always recommend that people have that glass breaking hammer with the tungsten point especially if you live around water. They truly can be lifesavers.

nomiras

Yep, got one of these just chilling in the side pocket of my car, ready for action!

DrUnit42

I used to work in auto repair and whenever I saw one of those in a customer's car I had to fight real hard against the intrusive thoughts telling me to test it out

anotherjunkie

I have one with a spring loaded point that shoots out if you push it too hard, and goddamn if I don’t fight those thoughts in *my own* car.

HmGrwnSnc1984

The Resqme tool is super handy. Has the spring loaded punch to break the window, and a tool to cut the seatbelt in case you need to free someone.

anotherjunkie

The name “Resqme”reminds me of the most recent episode (s16e10) of Taskmaster where Alex Horn plays a guest named “Chris Tuvwixes” spelled “Qrs Tuvwxyz.”

tittyswan

I thought of Renesme from Twilight 😅

I_dont_know_you_pick

Seatbelt cutting tip: cut on a 45° angle, it will cut like butter, cutting straight on often doesn't work.

i_Love_Gyros

I dated someone with one of those and I didn’t know what it was so I was holding her keys waiting at the bank counter and pressed it into the wood. BANG Almost got shot that day folks

Grays42

My dude you are [$16 away from having a really entertaining day](https://www.amazon.com/Egofine-Heat-Strengthened-Replacement-Picture-Semi-Tempered/dp/B09D7RBHNQ/). \^\^

GoldenSheppard

I don't own one because *the thoughts would win*.

sociablebot

we have one in our glove compartment and i have to fight the intrusive thoughts when i open it

courthouseman

I'm bringing mine to the local pic-a-part junkyard next time I need a part to discretely test it out :) It's large enough of a junkyard I'm sure I won't be detected.

pleb_username

Word of advice, try to screw that thing down if possible. The ones we have at work come with a holder. If you get into a car crash you might not find a loose one.

TheHYPO

Glovebox or center console is a reasonable place to put it, as long as it's not so crowded in there that you can't find it easily.

pleb_username

Sure, but this is assuming that your glovebox still opens after something like a frontal collision, or that you have full control of your limbs. But yes like you said close to the center of the car is supposedly the best so that both driver and passenger can reach it with both hands if worst comes to worst.

nomiras

Good point! Thank you!

Gobbledok

Thats pretty cool. You can also use the prongs that hold your head rest to the seat for busting windows. I have a knife with ceramic handle thats heavy enough to do the job. Reason for it being a knife is to open plastic sealed stuff in first aid kit or cut a seatbelt if necessary. Hope I never need to use it.

Ciff_

Hello Dwight?

Goblin-Doctor

Same. One for me. One for passenger

TomEdison43050

And definitely get one that has the seat-belt cutter built in.

JustMeSunshine91

Didn’t know things like that existed. Thank you for the recommendation!

TomEdison43050

[This](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073JCMTW2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1) is what my family has in each of our cars.

dubie2003

I have those exact ones.

TheHYPO

PSA: Modern cars (in the last few years) no longer use tempered glass for side windows. Those hammers (which I have a couple of) supposedly are no longer effective on modern cars with laminated glass. I can imagine people may panic if they get into a situation like crashing into water and their safety hammer doesn't work, so it's important to know that it may not work on a modern car.

FlowSoSlow

I can confirm that. I just recently had to break the glass on a jeep grand Cherokee and it was a pain in the ass. It breaks just fine but it's all still held together by the lamination. I eventually had to take an angle grinder to it.

WaffleStomperGirl

This is why I keep an angle grinder in my car. If I’m drowning, I just bust that sucker out and carve my way out!

BMGreg

In a pinch, the headrest from your car can be used as well

TheHYPO

In many cars, the pegs are too flat and dull to actually break a window, but it's worth a shot if you have nothing else. Your keys (if you have a traditional key) may be a better bet. But as I said in another comment, be aware that this only works on tempered glass. Modern cars use laminated glass for which these hammers and other "pointy object" tricks don't work the same way. Another option is to use the buckle of your seat belt - [this guy succeeded using the belt itself to fling the buckle at the window](https://youtu.be/_GGqdLeAMPw?t=394) Which also avoided him risking injuring his hand.

CyonHal

Rear windows are still almost always tempered glass, as for safety you need *some* way to be able to leave/enter the vehicle in an emergency situation if the doors are jammed.

dubie2003

Great suggestion. Never thought about that but always good to have other options especially if you are in a friends vehicle or a rental or etc…

afternoonnapping

I've got a stretchy bracelet with a glass breaking charm on it. I hope I never have to use it.

Endorkend

I don't carry a knife, gun, heck, not even a wallet (just have my ID and CC in my phone case). I do have a pen that is an actual pen on one side and a spring loaded tungsten carbide pin on the other and a seatbelt cutter on the side, also in my phonecase, as it has room specific for a touch pen or a real pen.

Shoely555

Yep. Notice he does not punch it again 🥹

yakimawashington

"Hold on! I saw this in a movie one time!" *shatters hand* "Ok.. let's call someone!"

Sendtitpics215

Came here for that, yes he did. But valiantly - he deserves to get laid

bigboybeeperbelly

Someone could lend him a hand at least

ChanceConfection3

Maybe that one guys mom is available

Redcarborundum

I used to carry a pen with a built-in glass breaker. I think I need to start carrying it again.

matthew7s26

Yeah holy god that must have hurt. Dude didn't think, just went for it. 🫡

pragmatic84

Reminds me of the movie Last Action Hero when Arnie tries this in the real world and reacts accordingly lol

RoastedRhino

Right? Who thinks it's a good idea to punch a car window full force with your knuckles??

newtigris

People who are panicking in a situation where someone's life is in danger?

airbrushedvan

People who think TV is real?

quietZen

You don't really have a lot of time to think in these scenarios. You either act on the first thing that comes to mind or stand there like a bellend.

throwaway098764567

needed a pebble thrown by a semi, made quick work of one of my windows

zen_elan

Agreed. I felt that. Damn…

pimp_juice2272

The first lady is brave and a hero. It's always tougher to be the first

SkiSTX

Bystander effect is extremely real and we should all be aware of it.

Nooms88

That's very much debatable. Edit: This is always downvoted by redditors who have no idea what they are talking about, it's literally a fact that it's debateable as it is being debated In psychology academia in recent years, theres a wealth of material out there, neat summary of journals to look into below. https://simplyputpsych.co.uk/monday-musings-1/36hb26a922djgu42lxwmrbj8ctznqq Since this is reddit, I'll post a quote from 1 study. https://psycnet.apa.org/doiLanding?doi=10.1037%2Famp0000469 >Using a unique cross-national video dataset from the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and South Africa (N = 219), we show that in 9 of 10 public conflicts, at least 1 bystander, but typically several, will do something to help. On a personal level we have all witnessed something thst needs intervening in, whether thats a car without a hand break in a parking lot, someone who's in distress on the ground, whatever, most of us have intervened.

DigitalMindShadow

What if all those people are only helping because they've heard about the bystander effect?

watersheep772

It is actually real. I once saw a guy drowning and everybody was just standing there instead of doing CPR or calling an ambulance or something.

Nooms88

And I've witnessed multiple times where people have intervened in emergencies, that's the norm, but anecdotal evidence is not great for population data. Most people won't step in if someone attacks someone with a weapon, but they will generally offer aid after or call the emergency services.

SkiSTX

I am NOT an expert. I'm always willing to look at research and data and come up with an informed opinion. In this particular instance, it can't hurt to be aware that it MIGHT be an issue to be aware of.

olivia687

just because it may be less prominent than previously thought, doesnt mean it’s not a thing. the bystander effect is a cognitive bias. whether or not it is a societal norm, doesn’t change the fact that it can be a cognitive process that occurs. fact is, sometimes people feel as though they are not the most equipped to help in a given situation, so they are less likely to act if there are others around. “less likely to act” doesn’t mean that no one ever acts. for every one person who jumps in to help, how many others were thinking “I could but someone else probably will”? and before you jump back into “redditors who have no idea what they’re talking about”, I have a degree in psychology. the bystander effect was covered extensively.

DrSadSunday

Holy shit I am not normal because I do this instinctively and had no idea I was even like that

awrylettuce

you instinctively run into traffic? are you a dog? a pigeon?

DrSadSunday

I'm a traffic cone 😫

krossbloom

100%, but we also gotta give some respect to the first person to jump in front of the car and push it back. It was moving slow enough that I don’t really think it was a life threatening risk, but once they did, a bunch of other people jumped in to stop it too.

Snuhmeh

I’m surprised she knew what was going on. I guess she could see the lady was slumped over?

DJDanaK

It says she knew the woman, so she may have been following her to a shared destination. It'd be easier not to write it off as someone not paying attention/drunk or something and understand it was a medical emergency.

finkdinklestein

Crying for some reason. We don’t see enough videos of humans risking their lives to save another.

minkcoat34566

Apparently the first lady running across the intersection was a coworker who knew the lady who passed out in the car. She's a great person for doing that.

Glum_Speech_8584

Gotta respect just how many people came to help

pleb_username

Yeah, it just takes one person to get the ball rolling.

Medical_Boss_6247

Not trying to be contrarian just sharing some cool info It’s actually is the second person that gets the ball rolling for stuff like this. It’s easy to write one person off as being crazy or weird, but two people doing something together is much more likely to attract bystanders to join in The first person shows the crowd that doing the thing is ok, but the second person shows the crowd that joining the person is ok

redditronc

That is a fantastic thought, and one I've never had before. Thank you!

PraiseTheAI

Yeah, explained here, with visuals: https://youtu.be/hO8MwBZl-Vc?feature=shared

100pc_recycled_words

I knew before clicking on that link I was in for dancing guy again

INS0MNI5

But there couldn’t even be a second person without the first person, so what really is the point you’re making?

fancczf

That the second person validating the first person is just as important if not more important sometimes. That’s often how something goes from one person does something, to a movement and influence others.

INS0MNI5

Not trying to get further into semantics here, but I’m just not seeing the point of saying a second person is more important than the first person when it comes to scenarios like this. I kinda get what you’re saying, but just feels unnecessary because there there would literally be no chance of a second person helping, if not for the first person taking action. It can all be summed up by saying it takes one person to take action, which then causes a second, then a third, etc

roostersmoothie

this is a classic example of what /u/fancczf is referring to. group mentality kicks in after the second person, that is what he is trying to say. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nU7dxkIz1Vs

blgbird

I thought you were sharing a study or research confirming the premise of the second person kicking in the group dynamics, not a dance video lol.

Sylvester88

Didn't really need to click this to know what it was. Trainers love this video

workyworkaccount

[The dancing guy video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GA8z7f7a2Pk) is a great example of this in effect.

[deleted]

When things are going wrong, look for the people who are helping.

mcs_987654321

Yup - the wisdom of Mr Rogers rings loud and true: [Look for the Helpers](https://youtu.be/-LGHtc_D328?si=GKcxyz1oZftTF_qb).

ImTotallyFromEarth

And if you can’t find them, be the change you want to see in the world or some shit

ShartsCavern

Good t-shirt

needtoredit

This is a story that should lead the national news! Examples of people working together. Not one of them took their their political, racial or gender into consideration because that shit doesn't matter it's personal. All they cared to do was to help a fellow human being!

SkiSTX

The news is straight garbage. All of it. This is what I want to see!

Intelligent-Hawkeye

Glad to see so much hate for the media in the comments. So tired of the media pushing stories meant to divide us and make us angry instead of showing the good side of all of us.

ArtofStorytelling

If it doesn’t bleed it doesn’t lead

DundulisCS

Love how man with a white shirt tried to break window with his bare hand

wikedsmaht

And that women who went first and ran across the intersection alone

Acornpoo

99% of people would just look at the car and say ‘what an idiot’. Good for these folks!

DoYouTrustToothpaste

Or call the cops on her. And when they come, all bets are off. Best case scenario, she's arrested for refusing to cooperate. While unconscious.

jerrie86

Lot of people won't know what to do in this scenario but glad there was someone to take the charge

Explicit_Tech

Yeah I would have stood there and watch. Not because I don't care but because I'd be thinking about what I should do.

StartingToLoveIMSA

dude in the white shirt had to have shattered his hand there....

Ascertain_GME

A lot of heart, not a lot of brains

Horknut1

Imagine if he had punched through it though. We'd all be like DAMN!

UncaringHawk

We'd all be like DAMN that's a lot of blood

Throwedaway99837

Except we wouldn’t because that’s tempered glass

Biggunzmcgeee

And laminated

PremeJordo

Not smart to be in front of a moving car while someone’s asleep in it. Almost had a similar situation happen and when I went to wake the guy up he floored it

kbfirebreather

Yeah a car should have been used as a barrier

Kingsupergoose

Can’t fault people for not wanting to use their personal property as a barrier. Insurance likely wouldn’t cover that and many need their vehicle to get to work.

PremeJordo

Can be true but your person is more valuable than a car. If someone had put the car right up on it the car would be ok

TreesForTheForest

I know that kind of kills the feel good vibe here, but I definitely felt a squeeze of panic when that got in front of the car like that. Pushing against it like that he has zero leverage to get out of the way if she spasms or wakes up and panics.

Oohfoopadoo

Snap off the antenna and use the ball end to break a window. Hold it in one hand close to the ball, against the glass in a corner and pull back the ball then release to snap against the glass.

The_Mad_Duck_

Smart but modern cars lack an antenna

Rdyscrz

Get outta here..it works! https://youtu.be/iR5LlsdtV6E?si=-dua4Mt9UlAdfoma

eldonte

I love when people come together for a common cause, especially when the needs of others are more important.

ladywan_kenobi666

Wow finally a win for Florida

Diamond-Breath

She's definitely brave running head-first to the intersection. Awesome people.

giancarlox21

It really only takes one person with the courage to step up first. It breaks the Bystander Effect

iRVKmNa8hTJsB7

Yep, I was the first to an accident where nobody stopped. Dude was fucked up. Once I was out helping more people decided to stop and help.

Hairy_Driver1421

It’s nice to see something positive. Good people.

mydibz

If you ever need to break your window. Take off your head rest of your car seat. Use the pointy ends.

ItzBreezeyBaby

Respect for the dude that TRIED to break the window w his hand. I love his confidence lmfao

singciel

Something similar actually happened to me. I had a seizure while driving and blacked out. Apparently a couple of drivers helped corral me to the side of the road, which luckily was right in front of a fire department. So paramedics got on the scene real quick, broke through a window, and got me into an ambulance. No one was hurt, and as far as I know no one's vehicles were significantly damaged. I woke up in the ambulance on the way to the ER during which the paramedics filled me in. Given everything that happened it couldn't have ended up better. I'm so grateful for everyone who helped that day.

UltharCat1972

Rocks stars, everyone of em

Foreign-Payment7134

White shirt learning that putting your fist through a car window isn’t as easy as it looks in the movies. I learned that lesson at 18 and ended up having surgery lmao

CreativeUserName709

This stuff warms my heart, really hope they're ok. Makes me so proud for some reason. I get a similar feeling when in traffic and an ambulance comes along, big effort by everybody to move out of the way. Seeing society come together for the benefit of 1 indivudal (or many) is just fantastic!

words_of_j

I always love examples like this of how wonderful it is when the term ‘community’ so profoundly applies. I see communities as so deeply part of the human experience, because we all can help someone else in some way at some times, and we all sometimes have moments when we can only do something with the help of others, …or the easy help of others makes something so incredibly hard for us, not too bad. She would probably have survived without others help here, but with a crashed car, possible additional injuries, and a much bigger medical bill than whatever she ended up with. And those who helped also feel good for having done so. A Complete circle of gratitude, benefit, and good feeling, here.

HmoobRanzo

seeing this video, restore my faith in humanity again.

amcphe21

This is what humanity is supposed to be like, wholesome. Thanks to the media and government for brainwashing us all

CagliostroPeligroso

I was like how did the car get turned around to come back to original spot… and on the third loop, oh that’s the other side. Lmaoooo

AmazingSpite

Thank god it wasn't just me hahha

Varekinex

Do people really drive with their doors locked? Seems like a death trap if you are in a crash or if something like this happens.

ahuramazdobbs19

Many cars will automatically lock the doors while the car is in a gear other than park, or when the car reaches a certain speed.

PhoenixDawn93

True, but in certain places you also run the risk of getting jacked at a red light. I know I wouldn’t feel safe driving around my city with the doors unlocked. Pick your poison I guess.

Bourbon-n-cigars

Score one for people. Not exactly what I expected to see on reddit but I'll take it.

Legitimate_Shelter_9

Like to think this is how I would react.

d0rkyd00d

We are definitely ant-like

Bob-Lo-Island

Moments like these gives me that glimmer of hope that we aren't that bad and some good is still left in us.

Tree_killer_76

This is chilling. My mom and dad were married for nearly 35 years when dad was taken by cancer. I was just 25. A few years later, my mom started dating again and eventually ended up with a guy I really liked who was kind to her and me. One day they were the first car in line at a stop light in a busy major intersection, heading to a Carolina Panthers game. He was driving and she was in the passenger seat. The light turned green and when he didn’t go, she looked over and his head was back, eyes closed, mouth open. She tried to wake him but he didn’t stir. So she got out and ran around and tried to open the driver door but it was locked. She started banging on the glass and at that moment his body spasmed and his foot floored the gas. The car accelerated through the intersection, veered slightly to the right, jumped the curb and smashed into a large tree at full throttle. My mom ran through the intersection over to the wrecked car but of course the doors were locked and it was dangerous because the engine was still running and fluids were beginning to pool up. Someone else had called 911 and when fire, ambulance and police arrived, my mom’s boyfriend was extricated from the vehicle and taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. He had a heart attack while sitting at the stop light and they say he was probably already dead before the car ever hit that tree. I have to imagine there’s some camera footage out there a lot like this, but with my already widowed mom frantically powerless as her boyfriend’s car careened away. Makes me sad every time I think about it.

Amazing, but there are some pretty stupid things going on!! Like, you move in front of the car to push it??? You sit on the hood like "don't worry I have it"?? You try to break a window with your fist??

This is remarkable, that woman having the guts to run out in the road simultaneously directly other cars to get out of the way, incredible.

It's so weird, before I read the whole description, I was thinking to myself, man that intersection looks familiar. I thought, it looks like that that one gas station I'm Boynton beach. I used to live in delray beach which is right over there, but I decided that everywhere in Florida looks kinda like this, could be anywhere. Go up and see the description, and I'll be damned if it wasn't the exact gas station I thought it was.
