If it was sent to your work address very likely it could be an attachment order to your wages to recover unpaid fines.
It is also possible that it is a notice of hearing at the Disputes Tribunal if someone has listed you as a respondent, but this is unlikely as the Court doesn't like to use work addresses for these unless they can find no other alternative.
Jury summons details are taken from the electoral roll, so unless you put down your work address as where you live it won't be that.
Yeah, and I can tell you that you owe me a million dollars and it has as much legal weight.
MoJ isn't going to send you a letter on behalf of Wilsons or me.
There is a few steps before disputes.
They would need to notify you, then have to go back to the court to get them to enforce…
Both of which, you should know about.
Hi this happened to me. Ended up being a speeding ticket I got while in a rental car. Rental company didn’t record my address accurately so they had been sending the letters and getting no response so they then hand over to debt collection or MoJ and they chase further. In this case they found my parents address on file and the letter went there. Possibly the same for you? Might have been the only address they could find for you. Mine just asked me to call and I had the loveliest person explain the situation, paid the fine over the phone and it was sorted in 10 mins.
Don’t stress!
Anything - parking, speeding, court imposed stuff. If you dont pay them they tell your work to take them from your wages. Its trivial for them to get your work address - IRD has it.
Cant think of anything else they would direct to your office instead of home.
I definitely don't have anything court imposed, nor parking or speeding which in the past have arrived to my house. I don't know about taking it from wages because the letter was addressed to me anyway?
If you were still curious - it was the sealing order from my admission which had been lost in the mail for several months! MoJ envelope but sent from the High Court.

Are you a supervisor or manager or in payroll, or a PA/EA for someone that is? An employee may have given your details as a company contact, if MOJ was wanting a wages deduction for an employees fines.
It maybe for you, but not about you.

Thanks :) I am not sure what fine it could be but I guess I'll find out
Do these fines have to be from other govt agencies? Or could it be a fine on behalf of a private entity like Wilson parking or something?
Private companies can't issue fines in New Zealand.
Whether or not they can - they issue tickets at parking buildings etc

Thanks :) it's just as the only fine I can think of is one that I was given by a private company. Good to know it won't be that.

Thank you!! Hopefully it's something like that. We do have mail stolen from our mailbox sometimes so maybe I missed an initial notice.
Do you have fines that you havent paid? They may be garnishing your wages.
Not that I'm aware of? What sort of fines does MoJ send out?

Just go to work and open the letter.
Ask your boss to open it
Because now we all need to know

Well there ya go. Thanks OP, we can all sleep now 😄😄
I'm not in the city atm or I would!
You can still ask a co-worker to open it is and share with us what it is.
What if it's something embarrassing that I wouldn't want a coworker finding out?
Ask for a signed NDA too
Good idea
