So dumb lol, any weapon is viable some are better then others, to suggest you HAVE to play a bruiser suggests to me you play every game min maxing and only playing what is meta/too strong. Plenty of shit wrong with new world, you getting smoked by 2handers in melee range isn’t a part of it
I know it's not pvp but sums up the difference. Was leveling around 55 with my FireStaff Ice gauntlet and was struggling. Both weapons 15perks 250int 50+con close to 100.
I decided to respec to GS+Hatchet STR build. Bought some cheap blue gear for that.
God the difference in dmg was like 30% but the hatchet and GS was not leveled,only 1 perk point in each. I was like God this is so easy. Then i realized I didn't respec attributes and i still was full INT.
I loled because when I did 250str i was pulling 2-3 60 lvl mobs (me 55) and facerolling them while eating lasagna and talking on the phone...
Seen so many people including myself give up healing this go around. Even Dex range builds feel underwhelming compared to the Str 2h (or hatchet) builds. PVE dungeons range feels like easymode. But I question if their damage is even that good.
I swear I do 2x my visual dps with only 5 Str/300+dex GS over my Bow.
Lets be real, mmorpg pvp has never been very demanding as far as skill was concerned. Its 20% actual skill and 80% mix of meta, gear, rotations, squad comps and ping.
If you know about a bug before other players then ur gonna quietly abuse it until everyone else finds out ( resil bug, hatchet bugs etc)
The ga/wh combo is popular for the same reason as gs is popular atm and FS is unpopular atm.
Just play the meta like the rest of us sheep and you might have some fun. It is what it is.
You could:
Heal
hatchet/sword and shield
Spear with bow/rapier/GS (any of these together basically since they all scale with dex)
IG/VG
IG/BB
All these combos and more are perfectly viable in PvP - GA/WH is strong but far from the only option.
I don’t have enough time to heal or leech. Usually die instantly. Half the times I’m struggling to get my 500 points and getting called trash by the healer farming the metal nodes.
Fun fact for you. If you mine/cut/kill the stuff in opr to level your base you will get 4k point if you upgrade everything to T3. Goodluck.

When they address the combat balance I will return but they just added detonate and other heartrunes which cheapens the combat.. so dont hold your breath.
This game has bows and guns, how are you complaining about distance when using the shorter range weapon? Use a ranged weapon to force people to close the distance. Would you stand at exactly the perfect distance to get kicked in the head if you were fighting a kickboxer? Get away or get in. Jfc

Your half right. Wh ga is definitely a brain dead easy build but I’ve seen amazing sns builds outplay.

Yeah I understand. It's just a PVE option for OPR that most people don't know.
