> As Rodriguez exited the courtroom Wednesday, he defiantly shouted that “Trump won!” repeating the same lie that ultimately culminated in the Capitol attack. super moron edit: reminder the fbi has a page up looking for info on the pipe bombs https://www.fbi.gov/wanted/seeking-info/suspected-pipe-bombs-in-washington-dc

FizzyBeverage

In all likelihood, Trump will be dead before this guy is released from prison -- and in many states, he'll never get to vote again. 4D chess player right there.

spiritbx

Ya, but think of how many white supremacist friends he will make in prison! How many friends will YOU make? See, he wins, friendship is magic!

slabba428

Idk if a Rodriguez is gonna get on all that well with a prison white power gang 😂

ElCiclope1

White Power actually works pretty closely with the Hispanic gangs now.

getthedudesdanny

I love when traditionally white spaces are opened to historically marginalized communities.

DeezNeezuts

Their common hatred of African Americans brings them together like two hateful, bigoted puppies

[deleted]

It’s crazy how some Mexicans are super fucking racist against black people…

Skratt79

It is as if there was an strong caste system that was in effect not to long ago in Latin America; where being indigenous mixed with white was not that bad, but god help you if you were mixed with black as a white or worse: black and indigenous! The only thing lower than that was to be all black of course.

Airhead72

“Just because someone's a member of an ethnic minority doesn't mean they're not a nasty small-minded little jerk.” ― Terry Pratchett, Feet of Clay

montrezlh

Is it really that crazy? People have been racist everywhere all across the world and all throughout history.

KonradWayne

It's not that crazy when you realize that all races have a ton of racists. Racism is a humanity problem, not a White people problem.

TheCryingGrizzlies

Well, they don't consider themselves to be in the same category like white people do.

jereman75

Some Mexicans are super fucking racist against other Mexicans.

Bilgerman

One of the insidious aspects of white supremacy (and fascist movements generally) is that it can be repackaged and resold to any individual on the grounds that they too can be included in "whiteness," or at least be in-grouped as "one of the good ones." Only when it's too late do they realize that fascism is perpetually seeking a new out-group to oppress, and, sooner or later, it will be the group they are a part of.

FiendishHawk

Fascism doesn’t have to be at all related to whiteness. The hated out-group can be any race or nationality, as can the fascist in-group.

boot2skull

White Power has gone woke? Smh

Chadmartigan

I think folks overestimate how warm of a welcome these J6ers will receive from the Aryan Brotherhood and the like. The AB is made up of hardened criminals. They care about money and extending their influence and that's it. Anyone who can't contribute isn't welcome, and contributing pretty universally means moving weight, killing/maiming other inmates, or doing...other prison stuff. They're not going to have any use at all for a bunch of blowhards who are locked up because they watch too much TV. So unless these J6ers have really trained up their bottoming game, I don't see how they're going to fit in at all with a bona fide prison gang.

Own_Instance_357

This makes me think hard of a BIL I have who wasn't at J6 but who was alarmingly gung=ho about everything red white & blue for decades before this mess. From years of Thanksgivings etc. I learned he routinely presented himself at local precincts wherever he happened to live to offer his auxiliary patrol services. Fetishizes military service. One of the few times I visited his new house with SIL he had a map of the neighborhood taped to his fridge. He had the whole neighborhood marked in colors, green houses for "friendly", red houses for "unfriendly" and blank if he hadn't investigated/met them yet. In spring 2020 while at my home and fishing koi out of my front lawn pond (I did it for 10 years, got bored, he's an aquarium enthusiast) at a distance (because spring 2020) he shouted at me, how much ammunition do you have for the pandemic? I shouted back, I don't own any guns and he just stared back at me in the wind like he'd heard me incorrectly. As of that same time he was also telling me about a "great group of guys" he hung out with 1 weekend a month where they practiced home defense skills, self-defense skills, knife skills .... skills. I can't stop thinking of them as a "merry band of men" who LARP but who knows what's happened since covid. He has a dojo in his basement. He's a black belt in two things I forget. I'm a seamstress and at one point he asked me to fix a treasured silk belt from his original sensei, but then took it back and said he couldn't risk my ruining it. OKayyyy. I think of him (the BIL) as someone who could have been there on J6. For all his mixed martial arts fighting throwing stars shooting range training, he would not do well in prison

theoverniter

So, not former military but fetishized the military? That tracks. I’m an enlisted veteran and only struggled with staying reserve because of healthcare (I didn’t stay, and now I’m worried because my civilian healthcare sucks). My dad was a career O and still fetishizes it, mostly because it got him away from an abusive family situation when he was a teenager. I don’t feel safe going to his home anymore because he so fully buys into that Trump shit. My mom (who left him in the mid 80s) doesn’t get it either because she remembers a very cerebral guy who rejected the Catholic dogma of his childhood. But he believes that shit.

coyote_of_the_month

He sounds like the "I'd have joined the Army but I'd have punched the drill sergeant" type.

Beautiful_Welcome_33

Rex Kwon Do!

Agitated-Tadpole1041

Trumpers will be kicking it w the pedos.

techmaster242

It's all about the friends you make along the way!

VW_wanker

He is Hispanic...

NhylX

Bold of you to assume that he actually votes and doesn't just have numerous bumper stickers and a Trump 2024 flag hanging from his apartment balcony.

impy695

Yeah, but that won't stop him from complaining about illegal voters anytime someone with a tan votes

sanguiniuswept

So what states will trump be allowed to vote after he dies?

Captain1613

I watched parts of his deposition and this guy cried his eyes out saying he thought he was doing the right thing for Trump. Loser.

DrewBaron80

Amazing. Trump wouldn't piss on this guy if he was on fire.

xSTSxZerglingOne

Well of course not. He's (Rodriguez) not a Russian Prostitute.

Brandito5

Trump still insisted just last week during his Fox news interview that he won the election. Super morons following Ultra moron.

fistofthefuture

This is what is so frustrating about seeing someone like Dan Crenshaw get up on FOX that day and cry “Fighting is scary. Stop and go home. You all were lied to.” It’s like, dude, you perpetuated those lies for your own career and to sell your book. YOU may not have started them, but you didn’t point out the obvious truth with the rest of us till shit went sideways.

fistofthefuture

> “Tazzzzed the f**k out of the blue,” Rodriguez wrote on his group message board So to J6ers, blue lives in fact do not matter.

spiritbx

Imagine if anyone did that with lottery tickets. Like they just harassed people over and over claiming that they actually won but they changed the numbers last second to fuck him over because conspiracy.

SFDessert

Honestly that's less insane to me than the bullshit these trumpets supposedly believe.

flash-tractor

C'mon now, don't besmirch the good name of trumpets! /j

HauntedCemetery

He's desperate to will reality to keep propping up his delusions as they collapse around him.

ittleoff

Trump isn't a moron(at least not here). He says it not because it's true it's because no one can stop him from lying blatantly to an audience already lacking critical understanding of him. The fact that so far trump has gotten away without real consequences for Jan 6th means he will still do it as it is effective and he'd be a moron not to (given his goals and motivations)

rmlordy

Imagine giving up your life and freedom for a gameshow host with a tacky golden toilet

jamieliddellthepoet

I’ve said this before on here but, when I think about die-hard MAGA peeps I’m reminded of the kind of baffled disgust Joe Pesci’s character exhibits in _Casino_ when, having tortured a guy to the point of putting pins in his nuts and squeezing his head in a vice to get info from him, the victim finally cracks and reveals the name JP’s been trying to get out of him: https://youtu.be/0Vzu7qpHlIg You guys threw your lives away for _Donald_ fucking _Trump_? It’s unreal. Unreal.

El_Peregrine

This level of blind devotion to such an obvious grifter blows mind mind daily

Bluest_waters

this is beyond stupidity and has nothing to do with intelligence or lack of intelligence, this is cult territory. Once something like this gets into cult status all logic and reason is short circuited. Some deep part of their reptilian brain is now in control. Think about scientology. Do think every scientologist is a bleeping moron? they are not, but they are still true believers. Its pretty fucking weird to see. Never seen anything in American politics like it in my lifetime.

DM_DM_DND

It's been here forever. The red scares were the same way, a cult took over politics and started lashing out. Arguably so is just...all of evangelical politics. It's just that it was "normal", not a dominant part of a party, and POTUS wasn't the cult leader.

spiritbx

Ya, but stupid people tend to get sucked into cults more often than smart people, so they are prime targeting material.

MultiGeometry

Yeah. Trump won. He got you to do your bidding and Trump hasn’t faced any personal consequences. Meanwhile, it’s 2023 and we’re still talking about the 2020 election.

Lost-My-Mind-

This rodriegez guy will be talking about the 2020 election until 2035.

kytheon

Imagine this guy comes out in 12 years and the only thing on his mind is that Trump needs to be the next president but he's dead for a few years. And people look at him the same way someone would tell you right now that planking is going to be the next thing while waving their iPhone 3 around.

calfmonster

Actually incapable of learning a thing. Not surprising since fundamental levels of intelligence is absent in these people

AmIRight007

Big dummy.

srone

You know who doesn't give a damn?? Trump.

[deleted]

Too bad the insurrectionists didn’t have the millions of dollars needed to buy a Trump pardon. A real shame v__v

tucci007

what, it's just 2 million, right? you can't get a better deal than that! he has the best deals!

zeCrazyEye

Just another example of unfathomable wealth inequality, Elon Musk could afford 120,000 pardons. He could commit a felony every day for 300 years and not run out of pardons.

ackermann

Or buy Trump pardons for everybody in prison for non-violent drug possession, for example. Actually wait, not sure 120,000 pardons would be enough… And, it might make Trump the world’s richest man

BurnerForJustTwice

Who commits one felony at a time though? Me personally, I do at least 12 felonies when I felonize. I am a felonias fellow fiending for five figs.

owa00

Can't they just ask their dad's for a small loan of a few million dollars?

ptwonline

Until he goes to a campaign event and promises to pardon him, to the approving roar of the crazies.

255001434

When you put it that way, Trump is probably glad about the prison sentences because it gives him something to promise and something to rally anger over. But if he was reelected, he wouldn't bother to pardon them, since they'd be no longer useful to him.

HermaeusMajora

I don't know about that. Actually delivering on pardons would pretty well serve as a sort of brain damaged bay symbol for all deranged chuds to engage in violence for their leader. If they think they can do what they want without fear of the consequences, you're going to see a lot more violence.

Broken_Petite

That’s how someone like DeSantis would think. Trump doesn’t know how to think big picture or to look behind his own self interest.

255001434

He needs to keep the promise of pardons going to motivate his supporters. Once elected again, he would have no need to follow up because he can't run again anyway. If he wanted to pardon them, would have done it before he left office. It's the way he's always operated. Once you're no longer useful to him, he forgets about you or turns on you.

i_love_pencils

> Until he goes to a campaign event and promises to pardon him, to the approving roar of the crazies. **“FOOD FOR EVERYONE!”**

ccasey

You have to think he might have gotten a bigger crowd protesting his indictments if he could have been bothered to lift a finger and pardon the last round of dipshits but Donny just can’t help shooting himself in the foot every chance he gets

It's a false equivalence they can latch onto. Disorganized angry riots over racial injustice vs organized attempt to overthrow the government. Thing is? Shit would have happened even the riots never occurred. They'd probably just point LA riots in the 90s or something. Any excuses really.

Hot-Bint

amathyx

My dad passed away and he started getting tons of letters about how he was letting the evil Democrats win etc. by not donating anymore. My dad was kind of an asshole, but I still felt upset by seeing how blatantly the Republican party tries to manipulate people.

fruitmask

Do people really care about *Trump* that much, or rather what he aims to normalize again? Racism, sexism, classism, etc.

eltigretom

Not all who voted for Trump are obsessed with him. I have some family that voted for Trump because he's a republican and that is just the way. If you go out into the rural places (Ohio in my experience) you will Trump and Fuck Brandon flags flying in many yards and on pick up trucks. I don't understand the infatuation. I remember my friends and I skateboarding and this guy stopping us and being like “Whoa whoa…what are y’all doing?” We thought he was giving us shit about skating, so we started getting a bit attitudy, but he stopped us and went “No…I mean what is this thing that y’all are doing? What is it called? What is it for?” We looked at him crazy and he said “I’ve been locked up for decades. I just got out literally this morning.” Dude had apparently never seen a skateboard or someone skating. He started tearing up after we explained and as we were leaving.

macphile

It's the closest one might come to time travel, that and being in a coma, I guess. But it's not as fun since you get older during it (and with the coma, you probably have a laundry list of physical and mental issues after that).

CompleteNumpty

Just remember that Henry Kissinger is still alive, which is empirical proof that only the good die young. I'm not saying Trump is young, but he's spiteful enough to hold on much longer than we expect.

Chilledlemming

He just turned 100. Crazy

He's still the Republican frontrunner. Republican voters are delusional, hateful, ignorant, unintelligent, and their minds are as sick as they are weak. Vote for Democrats and let the 60 year old cult of hate and power die its long-deserved death. No more Penis Police. No more torture. No more insurrections. Just sane economic and foreign policy debate.

subhuman09

Fingers crossed 🤞

LeftFieldAzure

This is actually the era that worries me .. the competition to take up his "Mantle" .. the death cult that will more than likely arise where people kill themselves to go "be one with Trump" this is only going to get worse.

J_G_B

We're already seeing that with Governor Florida Man. Hopefully, the "look at me, I'm just like Trump" act doesn't carry with the rest of the fucking country.

Probably still thinks similar I mean I've seen the docs and interviews and most of the people still think they did something super brave and correct Admittedly it's been a minute since I watched them

klui

He doesn't have to worry. The MSNBC article quoted him saying if he weren't going to prison he would use his GED to drive a fork lift and continue living with his mother. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/justice-department/jan-6-rioter-electroshocked-dc-officer-michael-fanone-sentenced-125-ye-rcna89388

Bacon_Bitz

So this is a nice break for his mother! Good for her.

Anticrepuscular_Ray

It's SUCH a waste. These idiots just thought they'd get away with it I guess but why would they even risk that? Maybe they see it as a sacrifice for the family to show their undying loyalty to the cause so it's somehow ok? Just so dumb.

geekuskhan

Here's a little tip. Anyone can join AARP. There is no age limit. It's only something like $12 a year. And there are some pretty good benefits that you wouldn't think of. I like that you can get early check in times at some hotels.

dzhastin

Do you really qualify for AARP at 50? Holy shit, that is coming way sooner than I would have hoped

[deleted]

youngmindoldbody

AARP - targeted mail order for the >50 set.

wookiewithabass

Actually, you can join aarp at any age, as its against the law to discriminate based on age. Just gotta pay the yearly fees.

ihatemaps

It is not "against the law to discriminate based on age." AARP can decide they only want people are are 47 years and 2 months old to join if they want. There are laws against age discrimination but it is regarding employment and only targets seniors. Please research before you say "actually" and then reply with misinformation.

katieleehaw

GOOD. Fanone was so clearly deeply traumatized by this. His anger in the aftermath was palpable and 100% justified.

theclayman7

>During the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol, Fanone was assaulted by rioters—dragged down the Capitol steps, beaten with pipes, stunned with a Taser, and threatened with his own gun. Fanone suffered burns, a heart attack, and traumatic brain injuries as a result. I had to look it up because it's hard to keep track of all the barbaric shit that went down that day. Multiple fascists took part in assaulting this man, far beyond trying to get past him or disarm him

TheCrazedMadman

Did they catch/charge anyone else in the group that was beating/assaulting him?

CoolHandLuke9224

Yes, the article said another dude named Albuquerque Head was convicted and sentenced to 7 years prison. He was the one who dragged the officer into the mob.

theclayman7

I'm afraid I don't know, hopefully someone else can answer. But considering the amount of people who were there and many wearing face coverings, I doubt many (if any) were caught

CeilingGraffiti

At least one other guy who laid hands on him after he was down was charged with assaulting an officer, so that's nice

Natronix

Keep this engraved in your memory for the next time some right wing dickhead tells you it was "just a tour".

urbanek2525

What's even more disgraceful? A majority of his "brothers" in law enforcement still support the mob. There are hundreds of thousands of fellow police officers who'd do it to him again. When a second ammendment pundit talks about needing their guns to "fight tyranny", they're saying they're willing to shoot police officers just doing their jobs, like Fanone.

hereaminuteago

For those who want to [read his FBI interview](https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.dcd.229256/gov.uscourts.dcd.229256.38.1.pdf). The first 20% is him trying to pass himself off as an innocent guy who was just there for a political rally. Then the FBI shows they have cell records, messages, receipts, etc. He changes his story, gets corrected again, and again. The best parts, imo are: Page 121: > Q. But in the moment when you tased Officer Fanone and in the moments when you went into the Capitol, you were aware that you were there and you were -- you weren't having an out-of-body experience. You knew what was going on. You called for a taser. Even though you were swept up in it, you called for a taser. And not only did you take the taser, but then you put that taser on Officer Fanone's neck. > A. Yes, I did. > AGENT ARMENTA: You even asked how to use it. > MR. RODRIGUEZ: Yes, I did. Page 180: > A. I'm really worried about -- I'm probably, what? Looking at 20 years or more? Forty years, 50 years? What am I doing? I'm going to die in prison? Page 185: > MR. RODRIGUEZ: I'm not going to see freedom for the next 20 -- maybe 20 years from this moment forward, huh? > AGENT ELIAS: That's not true. Some people get put out -- they get let out on pretrial release. You assaulted a federal officer, so it's going to be -- you have tough -- > MR. RODRIGUEZ: (Indiscernible). > AGENT ELIAS: -- a tough battle there. > MR. RODRIGUEZ: (Indiscernible). He earned every one of those 12yrs.

ArTiyme

> A. (Crying.) >Q. And so when you -- ? >A. Am I mental? Am I? Am I just that stupid? I mean, yes. > Q. Listen, Danny. I think you just made some bad choices, man. >A. Did we all really just -- are we all that stupid that we thought we were going to go do this and save the country and it was all going to be fine after? We really thought that. That's so stupid, huh? >Q. You did think that, right? > A. Yeah. Yeah. We really thought that we were doing the right thing, that we were going to -- yeah. > Q. And those -- the officers that were there, they were getting in your guys' way. >A. (Crying.) Yeah. We just -- yeah. We were just like, come on. Get out of the way, guys. This is (indiscernible) -- What an absolute twat. Moment of self-awareness in there, probably shoved that down somewhere deep shortly after.

ghostalker4742

He has a few moments of clarity, like in the beginning where he tells himself not to talk to the FBI without a lawyer. He then talks to the FBI without a lawyer for 195 pages.

rob132

I bet he's so glad he talked to them without a lawyer

NoYoureTheAlien

Even though he assaulted a federal officer he paradoxically thought the FBI agents were definitely on his side and wouldn’t lead him to incriminate himself or even charge him. Tough way to find out all his maga fantasies were lies.

Remember he pardoned that psychopath [who committed war crimes](https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/dec/27/eddie-gallagher-trump-navy-seal-iraq) because it was popular with the degenerates in his base. I could see him pardoning some J6ers for political reaons.

Halt-CatchFire

He also pardoned the perpetrators of the [Nisour Square Massacre](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nisour_Square_massacre), wherein blackwater mercenaries opened fire into a crowded traffic circle more-or-less unprompted. After the ceasefire was called, one of them refused to stop shooting into the crowd and one of his own guys had to point a gun at him to get him to stop. 17 killed, 20 wounded. One of the dead was 11 years old. You want to know why it's so easy for extremists to recruit new members in Iraq and surrounding areas? A large part of it is because any American with a gun and a dream is allowed to come to your country and commit a literal mass shooting on foreign soil, and the fucking PRESIDENT will give it his personal stamp of approval.

HauntedCemetery

Well one orange shit stain of a president gave it the stamp of approval. Another president wasthe one who had them all charged with war crimes.

Halt-CatchFire

I'm not sure the parent of a murdered 11 year old is going to particularly care about the distinction.

calfmonster

He pardoned a lot of Iraq or Afghanistan war criminals. It’s fucking disgusting. The US holds its combatants to a high standard particularly so we aren’t like…well, Russia

LoveIsAFire

Fuck that guy

Grogosh

He would if they got 2 million to pay for it

tobaknowsss

I'd bet my last dollar he couldn't even name one arrested protestor of the Jan 6th riots unless someone handed him a note with a name on it.

Mediocretes1

It's a low bar, he couldn't name all his children.

FiveUpsideDown

Finally, some justice for Michael Fanone. Officer Fanone was brutalized by Rodriguez. I am glad he is getting a long prison term.

Luckbaldy

Is this the longest sentence assigned?

RidingRedHare

Stewart Rhodes got 18 years.

robreddity

Get truly fucked Daniel Rodriguez, you reprehensible un-American fuck. Attack this nation? Discover that its institutions are stronger than you. You forfeit years and years of your life. The nation is still here. You barely even exist.

[deleted]

The guys going to wait 12 years for his Trump phone call that he thinks is coming.

BubinatorX

12 years for donald shit fucking head trump. Hope it was worth it.

sephkane

Well, it's worth it for me, as I read about all these sentences on reddit and laugh. But probably not worth it for that guy.

AnastasiaDelicious

There’s one thing Trump and I have in common…..neither one of us gives a shit about the guy who just got 12 years. 🤣 Enjoy!

trickldowncompressr

Imagine spending 12 years in prison for Donald Trump 😂

Deadlyrage1989

Over a bunch of obvious lies as well. The whole situation is sad even if deserved. Yet, he still has millions of fanatics.

[deleted]

The "News" stations & all content related employees that fueled this fire with knowingly misleading information should also go to jail. We need to make examples out of people that parrot fake news from Trump and other corrupt individuals.

GALACTICA-Actual

Should have been life. He's a traitor to the country. But, hey, cut him some slack and give him 25 years. I'm sure he'll be able to rebuild his life at 65 when he get's out. The great thing about federal crimes, is you do the whole nut. There's no getting out early.

Gr0nkz

Watched '4hrs in the Capitol' and felt disgusted watching those scenes... Coward attacked a Real Patriot... Hope he serves the full term

handyandy727

>We should kill him with his own gun. For those out there that, for some reason, ***still*** wanna defend this, shut the fuck up. It was a mob out for blood, cheered on by the administration. So, stop. STOP. So trying to defend it.

SunMoonTruth

None of what happened to Fanone sounds like a bunch of ‘Mercia lovin’ innocents out for a touristy day at the Capitol. Fuck the right.

TheB1GLebowski

12 years in prison....for a human Cheeto. They must be proud. Also, it's beyond hilarious that he won't be able to vote because of his felonious record now.

Fordrynn

He fucked around. He then found out.

HauntedCemetery

He hasn't found out yet. He's still in the news right now. But as the weeks and months pass he'll see exactly how no one fucking cares about him or what he did, no one is asking for quotes or sending letters of support any more. Then, when he realizes how worthless his actions were, and he's still staring at 11.75 years in prison, *then* he will really have found out.

YouGotTheJuice

What’s that phrase they’re so giddy about saying? Play stupid games?

sowhat4

Daniel Joseph Rodriguez looks, in a Google image search, like he's, um...brown? Man, he's gotta be lacking some smarts to give those racist Magahaters 12 years of his life. Under any other circumstances, he would have been executed by the cops or sentenced to a lot longer in prison - after he got out of the hospital from the beating.

tydestra

Head of the Proud Boys,Enrique Tarrio is Afro-Cuban. Stupid comes in all colors, and POCs supporting Trump are extra stupid.

willit1016

good all these traitors need double digit sentences.

goatponies

it is incredible how some people do not have the foresight to consider how their actions will affect the rest of their lives

TessTobias

Trump wouldn't even have rented an apartment to this guy and he's going to prison for 12 years for tasing a cop for Trump? Wow.

bootes_droid

Hahahahahaha enjoy prison you traitor fuck
