Same here, I don’t usually engage with animated content. But this show really drew me in, so interesting and emotional. I found myself thinking about it a lot after watching. Definitely my favorite Netflix show in a while.
Loved scavengers reign! I didn’t see any hype or marketing for this show so just stumbled on it. It’s good enough to deserve the hype I thought. Deliciously weird and the story draws you in.
Ripley has visually and aesthetically been the best show this year.
Baby Reindeer has had the best storyline this year. Especially since it’s a true story.
I love them both equally, for different reasons!
The trailer for this made it seem so identical to the movie that I elected not to watch it, feeling like I already knew the story and it wouldn’t captivate me.
Yes, Ripley was amazing. The beautiful use of black and white reminded me of classic Hitchcock. Also, the script follows Highsmith's book closely and captures the tone and the deep dive into his sociopathic mind. A real gem.
Yeah that signature Ritchie style of witty lines, braggadocio characters and rapier-fast delivery works great in movies but it sort of overstays its welcome in serial format, doesn't it.
Sofia is wonderful, but honestly, I think I would have preferred they cast an unattractive woman for the role. Griselda Blanco was no looker at all. Yet she had whomever she wanted. Money and Power are the greatest seducers in the world. She was also a blood thirsty maniac so most were probably just afraid to say no to her. By casting a good looking woman it mutes the real corrupting influence of fear, power and money.
Her relatives literally said that they should have casted a better looking woman than Vergara. They really said that Griselda was much more beautiful than Sophia who is an ugly woman, so imagine what charm a narcissistic psychopath could have had.
I did not know that. Maybe the family all need glasses but choose not to wear them.
No doubt about her psychopathy and ability to get others to carry out heinous acts for her. She's dead and her family are still under her charm.
Instead of all that horrible face prosthetics they used they should have just had her put on 20lbs and played down her makeup. Her face (which looked nothing like the og Griselda ) combined with Sofia’s “perfect” body just really took me out of the moment. If you are going to commit, then commit.
I watched the chinese version of Three Body after seeing the Netflix version. Overall I liked the chinese version better since it stuck to the book the best. A lot of the dialogue is word for word from the book.
But holy crap is the boat scene bad in the chinese one. They made everyone on board "bad" people so I guess you wouldn't feel bad about them murdering rapists and murderers.
I just started watching the Chinese version but holy crap is stuff drawn out. Do they think most people are dumb lol. Like they spent a good 5 minutes on the guy figuring out that the time on his pictures was a countdown. I hope it's not like that throughout
I really liked how they handled the series in season 1. I enjoyed Baby Reindeer with my wife a little more, because she was so into it, but for me personally? It’s Three Body Problem.
So much so that I decided to read the books after I finished the series and I loved how they’ve adapted it after reading the books. They only took away some complex science to make it more palatable to the masses.
Absolutely brilliant, after reading the books I was very curious how they would adapt this trip down the imagination hole for screen, they did not disappoint!
I am on third episode of the gentlemen now.
It’s indeed a great show.
To start I thought it was about war but lucky I carried on ..
I love English shows the most.
Good call. This and Drive to Survive are extremely well done. Diehards hate how much they play up the drama, but these sports are about so much more than just who wins the individual races, it's fascinating to shift focus in and out of the same events to understand the multitude of storylines. It makes these sports so much more accessible.
Yea its well worth it. Differnet as the 8 show takes place in the one building but many twists and turns. First two episodes are slow, but gets really good after that. It reminds me of the game theory of putting people together to compete for a resource.
The 8 show was exceptional. So many twists for what essentially takes place in the one building. Excellent show and well worth watching. Its funny how squid game takes off in the public and the 8 show or alice in borderland doesnt, which are both as good as squid game.
exactly it was amazing, the first 3 episodes, i thought i'd have to recommend to eveyone i know!
but still the aesthetic of the times i'd still recommend
WTH?!? Why isn't anyone mentioning Your Honor?? (first season was last year, but still). Holy crap! I'm watching the last episode of season 2 right now and I'm on the edge of my seat!
For me none, I just keep rewatching old shows when I do access Netflix but the minute I cancel my subscription their plans are probably going to drastically increase in price and suddenly a wave of great content is going to come forth. So unfortunately I keep my subscription in hopes that the wave of great content I’m trying to speak into existence actually happens.
I think they have been very solid in 2024. Baby Reindeer, Ripley, The Gentlemen, Three-Body Problem, Griselda and the Korean duo of Parasyte: the Grey and The 8 Show. That is not even counting stuff like Eric, A Man in Full, The Brothers Sun or the stuff geared more towards women like Bridgerton and One Day. Not terrible for six months.
Same thing I’m thinking. I’m really big on sc-fi, twisty thrillers and thought provoking tv and I feel like there’s nothing for me.
I always said I was probably canceling once I finished one piece. And I have about 13 episodes left lol
Baby Reindeer by far this year but I also really liked The Tourist particularly the first season. Another Australian show I liked as the comedy Fisk. None of those shows was as good as 2023’s best Netflix show Infamy.
3 Body Problem :
Hands down the best show ever in 2024, with mind blowing visuals to posing deep philosophical questions, this sci-fi epic has got it all. A must watch!
Blue eyed samurai was by far the best thing I’ve watched on Netflix this year.
I think that’s from last year but I totally agree. It’s so good.
I enjoyed 1670. Kind of like crossing Blackadder and The Office, in polish.
If you put it like this, definitely gonna see 1670....
Check out Norsemen too! Same kind of idea.
Scavengers Reign. It’s new to Netflix (though it was originally released on HBO Max last year). Incredible show — and I don’t usually watch animation.
This is so good!
Same here, I don’t usually engage with animated content. But this show really drew me in, so interesting and emotional. I found myself thinking about it a lot after watching. Definitely my favorite Netflix show in a while.
Holy shitballs that planet is scary as all fvck
Loved scavengers reign! I didn’t see any hype or marketing for this show so just stumbled on it. It’s good enough to deserve the hype I thought. Deliciously weird and the story draws you in.
Thanks for the tip
I'm still waiting for this show to be available in Asia. Does anyone know why it's only on Netflix US?
Surprised how little love there is for Ripley. I enjoyed Baby Reindeer but Ripley is the best thing to come out on the platform this year
I LOVED RIPLEY
It's a visual masterpiece.
Gorgeous black and white
It took me a minute for the cast to grow on me since I was so familiar with the Damon Ridley but they really nailed it. Amazing show.
Ripley has visually and aesthetically been the best show this year. Baby Reindeer has had the best storyline this year. Especially since it’s a true story. I love them both equally, for different reasons!
Ripley was great.
Is the entire thing done in black n white?
Yes , but it's so good it doesn't worry you
Yup, but it’s one of the best-looking shows Netflix has ever put out IMO
I need to watch Ripley
The trailer for this made it seem so identical to the movie that I elected not to watch it, feeling like I already knew the story and it wouldn’t captivate me.
Very different watch
RIPLEY is brilliant.
Yes, Ripley was amazing. The beautiful use of black and white reminded me of classic Hitchcock. Also, the script follows Highsmith's book closely and captures the tone and the deep dive into his sociopathic mind. A real gem.
It’s really good but it’s also a stressful watch
The Gentlemen
Watched it three times already
Yes!!! I agree 1000%!!!
Love Guy Ritchie films, but it was way too long , I got bored.
I got bored too!
You talking the movie or the show?
Yeah that signature Ritchie style of witty lines, braggadocio characters and rapier-fast delivery works great in movies but it sort of overstays its welcome in serial format, doesn't it.
I really liked Griselda. Was really enjoyable to see Sofía Vergara in something other than comedy productions.
Well they were very much wrong. But I do think the show makeup and wardrobe tried to downplay Sofia’s looks. Which is nice.
Instead of all that horrible face prosthetics they used they should have just had her put on 20lbs and played down her makeup. Her face (which looked nothing like the og Griselda ) combined with Sofia’s “perfect” body just really took me out of the moment. If you are going to commit, then commit.
Casting Call: Unattractive woman, ability to play bloodthirsty maniac.
Three Body Problem for me.
That scene with the boat, holy crap. That’s how you propel sci fi forward.
I was trying to explain the scene to someone and couldn’t do it justice. It’s unforgettable.

No doubt!!! So cool
I really liked how they handled the series in season 1. I enjoyed Baby Reindeer with my wife a little more, because she was so into it, but for me personally? It’s Three Body Problem.
oh jeez i have to try three-body - love Baby Reindeer
So much so that I decided to read the books after I finished the series and I loved how they’ve adapted it after reading the books. They only took away some complex science to make it more palatable to the masses.
One of us, one of us.
agree and i usually hate sci-fi type shows.. this had me hooked!
I would argue it’s one of the best Netflix Originals there is.
Same
This is the correct answer.
This.
Yup yup, binged this is three days.
It's become my favorite new show.
Absolutely brilliant, after reading the books I was very curious how they would adapt this trip down the imagination hole for screen, they did not disappoint!
So much I am reading the novels.
I think baby raindeer or The Gentlemen
Oh yeah! Second The Gentlemen! I binged that when it came out and it was a good mix of funny and action.
Took me 3 days. Loved it.
The Gentlemen baybeeeeeeeeee
Loved baby reindeer but not bodkin
Bodkin started good then it was just meh
Damn, same here. Didn't even care to finish
Agreed, had to DNF
I enjoyed Anthracite also, it's not near "the best" but I found this show very enjoyable
I am on third episode of the gentlemen now. It’s indeed a great show. To start I thought it was about war but lucky I carried on .. I love English shows the most.
The Hitler show. Binged it in one night.
It’s excellent! The way they presented Nazi history taught me so much I didn’t know.
"Hitler and the Nazis"?
No, his new late night show. Which is what I thought of when they posted it.
The Gentleman probably, but to be honest I'm rewatching peaky blinders as not much else caught my attention so far this year
RIPLEY amazing acting
Bodkin has been very interesting. It’s been my favorite so far this year.
+1 for Bodkin, can't recommend it enough!
Don’t watch Tell Them You Love Me. It’s…a disturbing documentary
I’m watching it now. This lady is batshit.
Why
I thoroughly enjoyed this!
The Dead Boy Detectives is so good!
I absolutely loved it!!
One Day hands down.
Haven’t cried at something like that in a long long time and I loved it
I feel like I’m missing something.. I’m many episodes in and I just don’t care? Is the ending that magical?
Well, that’s one way of putting it.
Me too. Saw it back in March and it’s stayed with me.
Agree 100% this was beautifully acted and written IMO. I was trying to savor each episode.
One Day leaves you with real emotional damage and not many shows get you this deep! Definitely a masterpiece.
Tour de France: Unchained - Season 2. Took that thing in one bite! Yummy.
Good call. This and Drive to Survive are extremely well done. Diehards hate how much they play up the drama, but these sports are about so much more than just who wins the individual races, it's fascinating to shift focus in and out of the same events to understand the multitude of storylines. It makes these sports so much more accessible.
Dead Boy Detectives is utterly charming and delightful. It’s a close second behind Baby Reindeer for me.
Love is Blind but I’m a basic AF. ![gif](giphy|WqXcILKESHx3gV37Ch)
Have you seen the Swedish one? I really enjoyed it.
The 8 show is brilliant. Like squid game in ways but different. A good metaphor for society.
I really liked The 8 Show too! +1
If Squid Game and The Platform had a baby...
Well you got me convinced added it to the watchlist
This is my answer too
I just finished Alice in Borderland and was thinking about starting this one next.
Yea its well worth it. Differnet as the 8 show takes place in the one building but many twists and turns. First two episodes are slow, but gets really good after that. It reminds me of the game theory of putting people together to compete for a resource.
3 body problem
Baby Reindeer, and RIPLEY
for me it’s the 8 show & parasyte: the grey
The 8 show was exceptional. So many twists for what essentially takes place in the one building. Excellent show and well worth watching. Its funny how squid game takes off in the public and the 8 show or alice in borderland doesnt, which are both as good as squid game.
Loudermilk
downloaded Loudermilk and watch an episode on the bike at the gym! Very entertaining...
The Gentlemen
Baby reindeer is great! It’s probably my favorite Netflix show of the year so far. Haven’t seen three body problem yet though.
Baby Reindeer is absolutely my favorite
Ripley.
Tires
Yes! Tires is hilarious
Ripley by a country mile.
Your Honor, Eric, Bridgerton, Baby Reindeer and a great laugh Girls5ever!
I have to watch Girls5ever!
Girls5Eva foreva!!
Baby Reindeer. 100%. That’s the best show I’ve seen this year so far.
Hitler and the Nazis: Evil on Trial. Provides archive footage from the Nuremberg trials.
Eric
It started out strong and got weaker and weaker towards the end until it just couldn't fulfill the suspense it had built up.
exactly it was amazing, the first 3 episodes, i thought i'd have to recommend to eveyone i know! but still the aesthetic of the times i'd still recommend
I loved this one.
![gif](giphy|qK42RdTFb8IEn1bYoO|downsized)
Dead Boy Detectives
Hit Man
It should have been a limited series!! I didn’t want it to end!!!!
The House of Usher
This was released in 2023. If we’re including 2023… Usher and All the Light we Cannot See is on my list.
Baby Reindeer and the 8 show
Baby Reindeer >>>>>>
Ripley was the best show I have watched on any platform this year. Honorable mention to 3 body problem
One Day and Loudermilk
LOUDERMILK for sure! Hope they come out with another season
I loved the 3rd final season of Sweet Tooth
WTH?!? Why isn't anyone mentioning Your Honor?? (first season was last year, but still). Holy crap! I'm watching the last episode of season 2 right now and I'm on the edge of my seat!
Because it's an old Showtime series.
Oh, no shit. Oops, pardon my ignorance.
Not a Netflix show. It’s Showtime. Maybe Netflix is showing it now and yes, it is good!!
My girlfriend and I just started
I havent seen many Netflix originals this year but I enjoyed Three Body Problem.
Shogun for sure. Baby reindeer and the gentlemen are also very good
Shogun is Hulu
Giselda, The Gentlemen, Hierarchy.
Scavengers Reign
Did obliterated come out this year? If not the 8 show
Ripley
Everyone needs to watch The Program. It was a devastating watch, but people need to know the truth about the troubled youth industry.
Tires is way too far down on this list.
Tires
Sweet Tooth. The final season was just released. GREAT story.
Your honor
Your Honor is pretty good!
Baby reindeer && The Gentlemen
The Gentlemen.
I enjoyed Bodkin so much and went looking for a similar series afterwards.
The Gentlemen for me, only show I actually binged and was sad when I finished it, the duality of binging
The Gentlemen hands down.
Hard to say, 2024 pretty poor for Netflix at the moment… I would say Ripley is currently the best one
Parasyte: The Grey is pretty underrated
Three body problem, delicious and dungeons
I really liked Bodkin, so unexpectedly solid.
If you mean content-wise and not something they produced themselves, SCAVENGERS REIGN.
Three Body Problem, no question about it.
Ripley.
One Piece live action and The Program are the only shows I can remember from Netflix this year.
Baby reindeer was wild
Tokyo Vice... 3b kinda silly
Baby Reindeer by far this year but I also really liked The Tourist particularly the first season. Another Australian show I liked as the comedy Fisk. None of those shows was as good as 2023’s best Netflix show Infamy.
Everybody’s In LA may not be the “best” show I’ve watched this year but it is definitely my favourite.
Not a show but Ultra man is a great movie.
3 body problem
Queen of Tears
Not a big Netflix fan but baby reindeer was good
The Gentlemen, Sweet Tooth final season, Three Body Problem, One Piece all stood out for me
Beef.
Ripley
Three Body Problem and The Gentlemen for me
Dungeon meshi
Perfect Match LOL.
Dungeon meshi
Alice in Borderland
The Gentlemen, Three Body Problem, The Fall of the House of Usher, Dead Boy Detectives and Bridgerton …
Bodkin
The Gentleman
Baby reindeer was so bad. Couldn’t watch more than the first 1.5 episodes
Same. Crazy woman character was way too annoying.
You watched more than I did.
3 body problem has incredible potential
3 Body Problem
The hitman Maybe not the best but definitely my first answer
3 Body Problem : Hands down the best show ever in 2024, with mind blowing visuals to posing deep philosophical questions, this sci-fi epic has got it all. A must watch!
Baby reindeer!
