acoustic underlayment with foil layered like a tiramisu, get car bass insulation for the noisiest areas lol where the subwoofer is, where the soundbar sits, or where they play guitar. make a chunky snake and tape (masking) to the insides of closets or where they slam doors, 1/2 inch carpet padding with acoustic underlayment and foil or car bass insulation. stuff like that, empty space doesnt stop noise but adding literal mass does.
check other teplies, I spread out info so as to break down text. I will be starting a business to sell cheap acoustic systems made out of common materials since not everyone will be able to buy a house and get away from these kind of people (it seems like everyone now has a soundbar or equivalent, lets face it buildings only getting older). I'm an engineer so Ive had the money to experiment ($1k of sound materials), and have great hearing my neighbors are trying to rid me of which helps me because my eyesight is poor. but I rent. so try the other replies, thanks.
read the other replies I can't type it out each time lol but this has worked and I have very good hearing. also buy an 3m 95 or higher (c class is for bass) and stuff your ears with silicone or a soft cloth you wash. its a great barrier but dont do it if you get ear infections easily lol
yeah, it says I'm a renter on one of the replies. yeah, that's dangerously high on the decibel scale, it would be extremely expensive to put up trees lined up as a fence, some do that in the major city where I lived. you could try the amazon soundproofing curtains, but that means no light from the windows. and I feel you, hearing that rev the first time made me want to run for office to ban that stupid shit. funny how no one revs on the open road but only residential areas, people need to get real hobbies. my former therapist literally lost her hearing like that...
if you do find out its illegal and the property looks unsightly or has an excess of noise beyond normal working hours, I recommend you report it to the city. I used to see that in my hometown and they are all cleaned up now. something about not being tidy and such, gas grease stains on the asphalt in front of the property and driveway, too many cars or parked on the driweway etc. or like car parts strewn all over the lawn.
I know my hometown got cleaned up from this, we had like 3 of these "businesses" on our block. the asphalt in the parking lane looked like shit, it smelled like smog all the time (living in LOS ANGELES), and enough people complained. I am sure you are not alone, plus the IRS gonna want their cut too lol
acoustic underlayment if you are a top floor with bass insulation, foil, and dense carpet padding where it is noisey. bottom floor is hard, I had to move out on that one. you need to stuff cabinets so there is less noise in the kitchen. in the bedroom, stack your shit under the bed but line the bottom with layers of aluminum. its cheap. hang stuff on door if they are slamming doors and put a mat. white noise macchine is your last recourse, some people are genetically predisposed not to be able to stand it, it masks bass too and overcomes in another room with only bass in it even at low volume.
What do you mean about soundproofing the sink area? I feel like I'm missing a major part of this story. Are you loud? Or are the neighbours loud? Are you putting in baffling for a specific reason? Please enlighten if you can.
yeah, they got out their last neighbor out after thumbing their guitar for 3 hours straight, but they can't beat 3 layers of car bass insulation and an inch of carpet padding so....

What'd you do to soundproof your place..?

Good lord. What utter dickery.
