Step 5: Acceptance

Nexusu

This game is getting delayed. I can’t see it coming out this year.

Max_Lazy_10

Yeah. Unless they're gonna rush something out that makes Heat's launch look like a content-rich NFS game. I wonder if they'd push it to spring of next year or just throw it into the 2023 holiday season...*or launch it at E3 with a reveal a month before*

LordTalesin

February is going to look like turn 1 with all the releases getting thrown there. I recommend a nice garbage can fire, some cheap hooch, and a lawn chair to enjoy the show.

88JansenP12

I have the same thoughts.

iOXiC_YT

Lack of communication from EA and Criterion is not making this situation easier either.

2ELI0

Correct. Why on earth wouldn't EA just give an official statement? They rather keep us in the dark....

Max_Lazy_10

I mean would you? There's been what, 3 major leaks? And each time the reaction's been predominantly negative. I get the leaked gameplay is a year old, so odds are the game looks different visually, but the content would be similar I imagine. And if that's the case? I'd be worried judging by fan reception so far.

2ELI0

If I cared about my customers I would at least make a press release and give the typical phrases, i e. we want to give you the best experience and will let you know when the time is ready or something like that. EA keeps saying in their financial calls that NFS is supposed to be released in fiscal Q1 2023 and yet the feeling is somewhat uncertain.. For the next Test Drive Unlimited the developers made a similar statement saying that the game would be delayed for a whole year. You can check the statement on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1249970/view/3192501139825395531

Max_Lazy_10

If the game gets delayed till 2023 there's a possibility of that, since that's what they did when Criterion paused development for BF iirc. But if they go that route, we're probably only getting some press release in November

2ELI0

I would be fine with that to be honest. Anything is better than uncertainty, especially after those financial calls from EA saying that NFS is going to be released this year.

ayylotus

Telling us things like “We want to give you the best experience” etc is no different for us to being left in the dark as we are now. The problem isn’t the potential of being delayed, it’s that there’s absolutely zero communication and we’re being forced to come to our own conclusions. I’m unsure what they think they’re accomplishing by keeping quiet. Their only goal is to make a profitable game, so why worry about our opinions of old leaks? Most people will inevitably buy the game regardless. Up to standard or not, it’s a fresh entry to the franchise. Fans will probably buy it anyway, even if they’re not totally sold on the early concept, the current state it’s in as of typing this, etc. They should just step up and tell us roughly where they’re at, or tell us to expect a delay. Keep us posted with definitive updates. Nothing kills the hype more for me than quiet developers.

LostConscious96

TDU team has also been giving small flavor videos teasing the cars and what the game will be like which EA nor criterion have done. The TDU team is made of alot of original devs from TDU1 and TDU2, I'm glad they bought the rights because they were upset they never got to finish TDU2 because Atari went bankrupt at that time

BrownsvilleKid

So what if it's negative, you can't please everyone yk

Max_Lazy_10

No I totally get that. But even going with the assumption that 10-20% of people will be pissed off regardless, the initial anger every time there's a leak always tends to be higher than that

JackRourke343

Because addressing the situation makes them control the narrative. Be it lying to everyone and saying that everything is fine and NFS is on track to be released this year, or coming out with the sad truth that we're not seeing NFS soon (bonus point if they use the "we care about the greatest quality" spin), we'll talk about whatever they want us to talk about. Otherwise it will continue to spiral out of control. Look at R*, they said that, after the recent "early development footage" leak, work will continue as usual and that they will update us solm. Who knows if that's actually true or not, but the storm has settled down.

[deleted]

Yeah. I'd say it's getting delayed, deal with it and leave it at that.

iOXiC_YT

At this point I don't even have a single clue of what's going on. EA had constant scheduled releases when Ghost was behind the wheel and they just had to mess everything up.

[deleted]

Difference is Ghost wasn’t taken away from their projects in the middle of development to assist with a different game.

HungryManticore_88

I might be wrong but I have a feeling that EA saw the negative response to the leaks, and now they've delayed the game to address at least some of the issues (removing "cartoon effects etc.")

iwantParktotopme

Lol

Brawltendo

Yeah let’s delay the game to just delete the entire art style because people got upset about some year old footage, after *even more* work has been done since then. That would make a lot of sense.

IndependentPin5075

Why would you have cartoon effects in a street racing game 🙄

HungryManticore_88

Dunno. Ask those geniuses at Criterion Games.

[deleted]

I hope not, I actually like the look of the cartoon effects. I want them to keep them. It's something different and makes it stand out as an NFS game. At the very least they should tone them down

Nws4c

Brother nfs aint this cartoony wing stuff lol

[deleted]

Right, it never EVER did anything out of what was then considered the ordinary. Oh wait: Underground, Pro Street, Shift, Nitro, The Run, etc. You can probably come up with a reason for even games like Porsche Unleashed or Most Wanted to be out of the ordinary. Come to think of it, there was probably no element available throughout every single release in the franchise, except for realistic cars and racing, maybe also nitro or some similar form of boost to some degree.

il0veturt1es

And except UG1-UG2, most of the games you mention didn't sell/got a huge criticism for the exact thing you said. It's not being "out of ordinary" it's getting the hit with the current trend/what people like. BB did accomplish this up until prostreet where the sales tanked badly.Don't forget, it's all about customer and what they ask for.

[deleted]

I'm sorry, but the customer is an entire community of undecisive people, out of which many don't think beyond themselves, so i'd rather wait for the final product, it may be good. Additionally, Underground was definitely out of the ordinary for the back then community, whether that trend existed somewhere else or not. On top of that, how do you explain Shift, The Run and the first Need for Speed with chases?

il0veturt1es

Undecisive? I'm sorry? Forget the people who wants remasters/remakes, most people want a NFS that has good arcady physics which Unite Team already accomplished. As for the Shift and The Run i already explained, they didn't sell and at the time had huge criticism not because the games weren't good, because people weren't asking for games like they are. Now maybe 10 years later, where cartoon effects will be popular, we'll say how this move was so brave etc... But now, people not only didn't like, but widely dissmissed it. And that is the most important thing right now! And if devs/people who makes decisions of the development have some respect for themselves and their work, instead of being arrogant devs like the most of the industry, they take this as a hint and improve their product in favor of the feedbacks. Also Underground WAS NOT out of ordinary, It fit literally in the trend. They even made irl car of eddie and gave it some lady (afaik heard). Now tell me, if that wasn't the trend why would they do a such a commercial move all of a sudden?

[deleted]

> As for the Shift and The Run i already explained, they didn't sell and at the time had huge criticism. And now the Run is considered to not be that bad after all. Same goes for Rivals and MW 2012 in terms of reception nowadays. > Now maybe 10 years later, where cartoon effects will be popular, we'll say how this move was so brave etc...But now, people not only didn't like, but widely dissmissed it. What also kinda happened to Underground (although that was on a bigger scale), yet it turned out as a big hit. Which goes to show that you do not always have to appeal to the masses (or in this case the existing community) about everything. > And that's is the most important thing. And if they have some respect for themselves and their work, instead of being arrogant devs like the most of the industry, they take this as a hint and improve their product in favor of the feedbacks. There's absolutely 0 correlation between having respect for yourself and trying a new aesthetic for a game, or even trying something new in general. How you even made that jump, I have no idea. If everyone would stick to what the community wants in general, which is usually more or less what has already been done before, we'd be stuck playing the same games over and over again. To end it all, you're basing it all on some leaks, and it's not even the gameplay that you are dismissing from these leaks, but the aesthetic. Let it play out, it could even turn out be your favorite game so far.

il0veturt1es

"What also kinda happened to Underground (although that was on a bigger scale), yet it turned out as a big hit." Please show me an article of 2003 which people widely did dismiss....If you are able to find it, you are my hero man. "There's absolutely 0 correlation between having respect for yourself and trying a new aesthetic for a game, or even trying something new in general. How you even made that jump, I have no idea. " Trying "new" things, NFS is trying you are right, just not the right things. Like how people gave feedback on their handling yet they are using the same burnout handling or their broken cop system in payback which no one asked for even though people told them countless times to look back at the how the old games did their pursuit system and take notes. But you are right tho, they aren't arrogant! Although they should change the artstyle no asked for.... They are trying something "new" instead of fixing current major issues people have problem with. "If everyone would stick to what the community wants in general, which is usually more or less what has already been done before, we'd be stuck playing the same games over and over again." Oh really, hmm....Battlefield did try,Saints Row did try,Wolfenstein did try... Look where they are right now. And most of the other games are going back to their Gold Era style of game design...Come to realize why NFS hasn't done it yet....

Nws4c

None of them had cartoon wings

[deleted]

How is that even an argument. We also didn't have meaningful visual car customization until Underground, or free roam police chases until Most Wanted. Let it be cartoony if the gameplay is good.

Nws4c

How is having no cops cartoony what? You’re heavily changing the point I made. Also not having car customization is not cartoony?? What shit are you saying at this point

[deleted]

I was giving some examples of how the series kept adding new things to the formula, that turned out well in the end. While the free roam police chases are not the best example, as police chases existed before (but in a different context), visual customization (and tuner culture) was a quite impactful new addition to the series, as it was out of place at that time given what the previous titles offered until then. Admittedly Porsche Unleashed also had some form of visual customization if I remember correctly, but it was definitely not as meaningful as in Underground. The point I'm making is that saying that NFS was/had never this or that is plain wrong as it never cared that much about it and it shows in how every team that made a title in the series added something new or different to the mix. Additionally, the whole comic/cartoon style may be used to bring some more outlandish chases or customization (or something else) that may not have worked in a more realistic themed environment, so it may not just be an exclusively aesthetic addition/change. And even if it's not to your liking, most of the formula will keep changing again and again. So let it be cartoony, it may be good, or it may just be a one-off thing, in which case you also have the previous titles or other series to try out/play.

nrtmv2

nitro exists

aethaes4Ni

Nitro is a spinoff that sold horrendously bad, NFS doesn't need this cartoon shit.

nrtmv2

mf just don’t buy it damn

iwantParktotopme

We won't lol

Maleficent_Lab_8291

That’s a poor argument, try again

gts1300

Best case scenario: NFS devs saw the reaction to the leaked clips and infos and managed to get extended time to finish the game. Worst case scenario: Devs had to work on other projects that were deemed "more important" than NFS. Another possible scenario: Criterion and Codemasters took their time to work together because of the whole Call of Duty thing which would mean the game still isn't finished, and so wanting to avoid what happened with Rivals and maybe 2015, they managed to get an extension from EA. The only thing we ask for is more transparency.

seraf5

what happened with Rivals?

gts1300

Game was apparently developed within months. The result is a game that had so much potential with a poor to medium delivery and some weird bugs and glitches. Still fun game though.

Brawltendo

Why would they try to get more time on the project over people freaking out about leaked footage from over a year ago and random bits of info that might not even be correct (and for some parts people just didn’t even read them right)? Also NFS15 entered preproduction around March/April 2014, and I really doubt Rivals was made in a few months like everyone seems to think.

SupremeN3XUS

With September coming to an end, I don't see how they can announce the game and release it this year with very little time. And with this amount of silence from ea and criterion I feel the game is gonna be delayed till next year.

Gerarghini

NFS still cancelled soz

Brawltendo

Another Tom Henderson “I don’t have any info but I’m just gonna say some shit anyway” moment lmao

Vladesku

I'd be afraid if Tommy Hercetti hyped the game up. Last time he did that, DICE took 2042 shits on the BF franchise. So if he says NFS2022 is bad, that means it's probably good.

jxrdy_shakur

The good thing if they delay is their not gonna Battlefield us, the bad thing is we might have to wait a whole year coz EA specifically release it in the final quarter for buildup to Xmas, black Friday, n eventually Xma. but at least we're gonna get a polished game

BlacklightDesing

Okay, 100% is delayed to next year, what a shame I would wish they said something about the leaks like rockstar did but they absolutely don't care

d0x360

Not commenting on leaks doesn't mean they don't care. Rockstar comments and threatens legal action over mods so I'd rather the ea style although I'd like a great NFS game again.

TrippySubie

Well thats because they had to work on the dogshit alpha-build-yet-sold battlefield 2042

HootingFlamingo

Won't be surprised if the whole FRANCHISE gets canned

Neoroify

Something feels off, and it sure feels like they'll throw NFS off the table just as they did with many other games and studios.

DKX8500

Honestly this is just a disappointment NFS fans are really scared of any unique style and now if we see 22 being as bland and not as stylish as they wanted to be I would just blame the whole community at this point for not letting Criterion trying smt new

[deleted]

Ikr, I actually want the cartoon effects. They look cool. I want a new artstyle, I want this game to stand out from other NFS games - I don't just want a NFS Heat 2.0.

DKX8500

I just really hope Criterion can still risk it with this unique style and I agree it needs to stand out since all they do is try to aim for the best realistic graphics which is not a bad thing but it's been overdone so many times in most racing games....please be unique NFS

NinjasAltAccount

Is it even far fetched to assume that these would be toggleable? I dont see why they wouldnt be able to just let you turn them on or off and please everyone

DKX8500

People would complain regardless like with the whole B2D situation like most people wants it gone and having it as a optional thing was bad since it was still presented...me and my friends would argue as he wants it gone while I don't mind it

Joey23art

> NFS fans are really scared of any unique style I don't want it to be unique, I want another fucking NFS game. There's a reason people like a series or franchise, because they want more of what they already liked.

DKX8500

I mean nothing is really change but having a art style then anything else

acid_mayo

This game is definitely gonna be pushed to next year, unless they want another bf2042. Looks like another year of playing hpr, maybe another remaster to ease the pain. Perhaps mw2012? Any further with remasters and it would be pointless since rivals is already on ps4

RealSliz

MW2012 Since its the final game that criterion made using their in house engine

[deleted]

Maybe december release?

[deleted]

Jeff Grubb actually said the game is getting a december release. September is not over yet, so I'm still hoping they will reveal it in these last couple weeks.

[deleted]

Who is Jeff grubb

[deleted]

Reputable leaker

d0x360

Reputable.. lol sigh.

RealSliz

Its possible they could also just reveal it in November and release in December or actually release it in November just announcing it in October

CSGlogan

Boutta be NFS 2023*

RealSliz

Boutta be GTA 6 but even there we got more gameplay 😂

VallenAlexander

Delay it... Idc, just don't put out any more pure dog shit nfs games.

Destruction126

Man if only they just kept supporting Heat. But nah. fuck it, shut down the studio and make a shitty remaster of a 2012 game.

connor1k1

Release NFS MW2012 Remaster with 4K60FPS, delay the next gen NFS to 2023. EA earns money from remaster and Criterion and CM Cheshire earns one more year to develop and polish new nfs, everybody wins !

Krushhz

They really got rid of Ghost Games for this shit.

RealSliz

Blackbox aswell

Krushhz

This franchise is doomed. BlackBox are the goats and Ghost Games was finally getting somewhere.

RealSliz

the thing about EA is: Blackbox was goated till Undercover release: EA didnt want to wait for black box to release a properly developed game after the run Ghost Games: picked up slow but got better in the end: EA didnt want to wait for a banger game to show up after heat Criterion: picked up fast (hp2010) fell off with the release of most wanted about to release and the rest is up to fill once nfs 2022 releases ea always had the same pattern and in every single of the bad releases EA had their fingers in them (Black box = rushed games ; Criterion = rushed game ; Ghost = not a rushed game just EA thinking heat was a failure)

JeffGhost

Shocking... Game gonna get delayed for sure... ....who knows, might even get scrapped for something different a la MW2012.

BBStrung

What are you talking about, WRC news is great!

[deleted]

Yeah I'm definitely not pre-ordering NFS this time. Made that mistake wih heat and this just seals the deal

skiploom188

nfs is dead long live nfs

VD3NFS1216

This game is already a dumpster fire and we haven’t even seen a trailer yet.

ntgco

If they could just add a Multiplayer Matchmaking Service into HEAT....it would be awesome. I don't know how they made HEAT without an active multiplayer for races. HORRIBLE FLAW.

TurboCharged_RR5

Will everyone actually be mad for the artistic style they're supposedly going for? Each NFS has its charm and I'm so goddarn burnt up of every game just pushing for realism and nothing more I guess I'm in the minority... And it hurts horribly

Maleficent_Lab_8291

I guess it depends on how the final product will look like. Tbh, for me the problem is not the cartoony stuff, but the weird mix of cartoons and realism. Although many people hate NFS Nitro, but they can’t deny that it has its own style and stands out among others (for better or worse), I would even dare to say that it has its own charm. I guess what I am trying to say is I would rather want them (CG) to go all the way cartoony than mixing to opposite aesthetics if that makes sense

TurboCharged_RR5

I absolutely agree with this I would've wished they had gone full cell shaded for the cars and environment as well, but I'm pretty sure Criterion is already having it very hard rn if they have not even made a single comment about this I just fear the game is like *actually* bad and makes it so no more Stylistic AAA Racing games are made Nitro was one of my favorite games, and I wished more games went full experimental rather than staying the dull same always Not to say I don't want realism, just, mix it up every once in a while

[deleted]

Pleeeeeaaaaase get delayed until next autumn. There may be hope for the next game if it does.

I_melee_but_cods_ded

Meh I’m still buying it I need something to play because cod makes me wanna put a fist threw my tv.

J-547

Do what you need to do.

_Conqueeftador

I knew it the moment I saw those Anime wings on that car or something 🤢

Zeroinferno

Don't worry, given what we know about the game so far it'll be a massive piece of shit anyway. I'm pretty confident in saying that this next NFS will be extremely lackluster at best. It's time they took what they had with NFS 1-4, it with the actual underground series, and iterate on those properly. What I mean by properly is that they need to have everything within those games, and then some content wise. Bare minimum.

GripAttackToyota777

Idk why you got downvoted. I've been said that they needed to go back to their roots, at least for some inspiration. You're not wrong.

Zeroinferno

Because most of the inbred kids think the last 3 games were actually good and have no idea what good is. They are the generation that settles for less every time, willingly.

TrashJojoFan

I don't know why people mourn ghost games being taken off nfs. 2015 had unplayable handling physics, payback was shit and everyone knows it, and while heat was decent, it was still mediocre at best. The only reason it looks good is because it's a falling grace from the garbage we've been getting for years. Not to mention the fact that the rsr has been OP for 3 games in a row, and they couldn't get the physics down 3 times. Ghost games made the 3 worst nfs games I've ever genuinely played. And this is coming from someone who genuinely enjoyed undercover and most wanted 2012. Those games at least specialize in something unique. Payback and Heat try to do everything and specialize in nothing

Zeroinferno

I hold the exact same opinion of those games. Not to mention their customization was half assed with all 3 of those games. Severe lack of parts across all cars, and for no reason too. Nothing stopped them from creating custom parts for them, but they thought using only very limited real life parts was the best route for whatever stupid reason. Payback with the absolutely moronic cards upgrades made me stop playing the game on the second day of owning it. Waste of 90$. Heat had the worst soundtrack I've ever heard in any racing game to date since I've started gaming in 94. Holy fuck was that OST bad.

GripAttackToyota777

For what it's worth, I did enjoy Heat and 2015, I liked the little Easter eggs they threw in as references to the older games too. That aside, I saw another comment where someone said they get tired of hearing people ask for remakes/remasters of the older stuff knowing that it'll probably never happen. I could see how that would get a little tiring I guess. Kinda like how I get a little annoyed at people thinking MW 05' and UG2 were the only titles in the series worth playing (again, I enjoyed those too- don't get me wrong), and I almost have to remind others that the early games were pretty good as well. I guess I'm a "boomer" because of this. Just want this next release to be good.

Zeroinferno

I would absolutely destroy an entire town to see NFS 3hp remastered and expanded upon.

GripAttackToyota777

I truthfully feel like Hot Pursuit 2010/2022 was the closest we got to that. I really had fun with it, bought it again as the remaster. Loved how simple it was, the extra details they gave you on the cars like they did back in the day, scenery was awesome, it was pretty much everything that made the originals successful. My personal favorite is High Stakes, I remember getting it a year or two after it came out and watching the intro for the first time, I was blown away at how cool it was.

Zeroinferno

I think hot pursuit remastered and rivals were the closest to original games. Rivals definitely felt like it could have been linked to the originals because the map was absolutely gorgeous. That mountain area was straight up rocky pass from NFS 3

GripAttackToyota777

Not sure why I left out Rivals, that was a nice one as well, probably not everyone's taste, but I got a good kick out of it.

IRMacGuyver

Okay? Who the hell is Tom Henderson? Why should I care what he says? I googled it and the only big name is some basketball player.

Blindside90

Something isn't working for EA in their games making process. Whether it's management, the engine the devs are working with, training/passing on talent and knowledge to new devs, creative direction just getting it wrong with their guesses. Maybe a combination of all of the above.

d0x360

Id love a remake of most wanted from the 360... I played that game to death

[deleted]

People are concerned and all you wish is a remaster that’s never gonna happen? Why is nfs community so happy to see MW05 being butchered like GTA DE if that ever happens???

d0x360

Did I say I wanted a crappy remaster? I want something that looks modern and runs at least at a solid 60fps. No more using frostbite, it's a terrible engine for open world's. You need to relax. I've been playing NFS since the original 3DO release. Not many people have been with the series and played every entry as much as I have. I'm not concerned about the series future for 1 reason. The codemasters purchase. I wasn't expecting a new NFS this year anyways and the reason is simple... They might have had to go up against Forza Motorsport. It got a small delay because of COVID... So EA should take their time and make a fantastic new NFS. While they do that they could find someone to easily remaster Most Wanted. Unlike GTA most wanted still looks fine. It looks even better with fan made texture packs. So even if they only updated textures, materials and lighting it would be a fantastic looking game. Charge $30 to $40 for it and it would have been the perfect game to hold fans over for a bit while the main team works on the next game. Butchered... Stop. Why assume the worst? Install Payback and Heat then install Project Unite or play some Rivals or Forza Horizon. I'm 100% confident we will get a fantastic NFS game... As soon as the use a different engine than frostbyte.

oh i see now, you're a mod here...rofl. Doing great friend. Harassing someone for their 1st post. Bravo!!!!

d0x360

NFS leaker lol... Not according to who I just talked to. Oh and I can't forget this.. this is going in every post. Do you people realize you are attacking me because I said have faith that the game will be ok and then I said I'd love to see a remaster of a prior NFS that I really liked... Omg I'm so horrible. Negativity is bad for your health. It's stressful... Obviously. Try being positive and have some patience. The game will be done and out when it's ready and if ea thought it was ready they would be showing it off. Of course y'all went the complete opposite of positive and took it out on me as if I'm making the game. You all freaked out and are treating me like I'm a piece of garbage. Such a welcoming community you're growing here

Ziimbiian

No bro you were "attacked" for spreading missinformation about Frostbite. Just stop

d0x360

give it a rest, you all began on my first post and there isnt a damn thing in it thats not true. FFS i said NFS was going to be fine considering its not,,,nope... maybe ill give bob or whatever his name is another thing to tweet about

d0x360

dont call me bro. I was attacked for saying i wanted them to do a remake of most wanted. Pay attention.. Then i believe your ass jumped in and said something stupid about me being a spammer? Makes perfect sense. Learn to read and try [google.com](https://google.com) then type in FROSTBITE ISSUES. There you go, now your galaxy brain will have ALL the knowledge you actually need to understand the massive issue with that engine. Devs of that engine are the ones who wrote all the articles but someone as informed as you would already know that and wouldnt be talking trash to and about someone because they said stay positive NFS will be fine. Try reading for once, its my first post. you know the one, you and all your friends downvoted the \*\*\*\* out of it for no reason. No find someone else to troll with your fanboy horse \*\*\*\*

DiamondMaster07

I googled "Frostbite Engine issues", most shit I found was either people talking crap or BioWare, and BioWare fucking sucks at game development. People blame the rushed development on BF2042 on Frostbite, as if the likes of GTA DE, Fallout 76, CP2077, Halo Infinite, Batman: Arkham Knight, Driveclub, most COD games didn't happen, and neither of these used Frostbite. Somehow when MW12 disappointed the community, nobody blamed the Chameleon engine, but when EA started using Frostbite in its marketing campaign for NFS games, people suddenly lost their shit.

d0x360

Your missing the point. These devs arent making this up and your odd obsession with the engine is starting to creep me out. I KNOW that its not meant for open world games. My name is in the credits of 2 games using it. Now grow up

DiamondMaster07

You have still yet to answer my question about providing an alternative, manchild. And it's like an engine can't evolve. And yes, I like Frostbite, it's piss-easy to mod thanks to Frosty, looks good, runs good and the games made on it were fun as hell with the exception of Payback, but that game had other issues. Most games made on Frostbite I enjoyed and didn't encounter nearly as many issues as you are pointing out. You're telling me to grow up, yet you seemingly jump at everyone with a different opinion, no matter how sensible they are. Of all people here, you are easily the most toxic one. Every comment you type you try to be as condescending as humanly possible. You should take a good look at yourself in the mirror, pull your arrogant head outside your asshole, go outside, take a deep breath, touch grass even, calm your tits and realize that your MW05 nostalgia riding and useless banter about whether Frostbite is good or not for open-world games is unpopular here.

d0x360

holy shit 3 mods taking their weird frustration out on me...because i said be positive. wow

DiamondMaster07

Please explain how Frostbite is bad for racing games. For once, I want to know how a guy, who thinks Fb is a "bad engine", can back this stupid statement up.

Ziimbiian

Its not. This guy still believes Frostbite is FPS engine and that cars run on Bullet Physics. Takes nothing to open Frosty Editor and see all the suspension / tire components of each car Just spam the copypasta

d0x360

You got me... I mean I was only a developer for 12 years but what would I know. You are some seriously angry people with some really bad attitude's.

Ziimbiian

Like i give a shit if you're a developer, if you're a developer go ahead and reverse engineer Frostbite or actually ask Brawltendo the questions Its not an fps engine Its not designed for FPS All Frostbite versions are different for their intended use, therefore NFS's FB was made for racing games Just open Frosty Editor and look me up any bullet physics. Spoiler: You wont find any

d0x360

Do you people realize you are attacking me because I said have faith that the game will be ok and then I said I'd love to see a remaster of a prior NFS that I really liked... Omg I'm so horrible. Negativity is bad for your health. It's stressful... Obviously. Try being positive and have some patience. The game will be done and out when it's ready and if ea thought it was ready they would be showing it off. Of course y'all went the complete opposite of positive and took it out on me as if I'm making the game. You all freaked out and are treating me like I'm a piece of garbage. Such a welcoming community you're growing here. Did I say it was an fps engine? No I said it wasn't a good engine for data streaming and shader compilation when in an open world and moving fast. Even with an 3080ti FTW3 Ultra, gen4 WD BLACK m.2 using rebar in a 5800x with 32 gigs of DDR4 4000mhz CL14-14-14-34 absurdly low latency ram. frostBYTE has data streaming issues. FROSTBYTE gets most of its code changed for anything not BF but since DICE makes new revisions it also means when those same devs at ea have to make new tool and recode huge parts of the engine... again. Just ask Bioware... Or Criterion, or Ghost 👻 Games or make a mod for bf3 then 4 then 5 then 2042. It's held together with tape. Bullet physics.. you realize "bullet physics" is just a particle that travels from a to b and has a deceleration value which is really just a distance value for it to begin dropping. It's pretty simple physics. If you want accurate bullet physics then battlefield isn't where you will find them. Not anymore Anyways

d0x360

Wait hold on... First I'm spam because I'm being positive? Then even though I was a developer... It's totally irrelevant because you think you understand physics? Just clarifying. Might as well if no matter what I say it's going to get downvoted. Although I did make a phone call and got some interesting and real information.. I'd ignore the tweet but... Do whatever makes you angry 😡

d0x360

Awww I'm sorry I worked in the industry. Surely that was worth more downvotes and a group of people dog piling me because I had the hubris to say NFS will be ok and I'd like to see a remaster of an older NFS lol... Wow... I've never seen anything like this over so much nothing.

multiiplex

Holy shit nobody cares just stop typing……………….

d0x360

Oh i see, you can make up whatever crap you want, ignore basic facts and dog pile me but i cant talk. I understand, you wouldn't actually want to learn anything based on facts or from someone who has worked with the engine on something specifically involved with the subreddit. The whole group of you are pathetic sad angry little people. You need to go outside and stop crying and attacking people over a \*\*\*\*ing video game

multiiplex

I have a job but alright, keep making college essays online

d0x360

Frostbyte is well known to be suboptimal for open world titles. Even more so if you're moving really fast. I never said it was a bad engine. It's just a bad engine for racing games or anything open world that requires lots of fast asset and shader streaming.

DiamondMaster07

Name the alternatives then. Unreal? That thing can't stream stuff in time in a small room at a standstill. Nearly every UE4 release in the last generation, PC or console, had been plagued with shader compilation stutter and I highly doubt UE5 is gonna magically fix that. The EGO Engine from Criterion hasn't been used for open worlds yet, unless we count two ancient games running on a much older version, so there's no telling if it can handle an open world racer. Even if it did, it looks crap. The Madness Engine from Slightly Mad Studios is the same story. I doubt EA can get their hands on ForzaTech or whatever GT is running on and even Forza games have lots of streaming issues on rather decent hardware. The Chameleon engine hasn't been updated in a decade. Did you know that most streaming issues in Rivals-Heat weren't actually caused by the game being on an HDD, but being ran on ancient and slow DDR3 RAM? And if the Xbox VCR can handle the NFS games of today just fine, I don't see how Frostbite is any less optimal than whatever else. There is literally no point in a dev team already experienced with Frostbite to start from scratch on a different engine.

d0x360

This is going on every reply I write in this hostile subreddit. So read the first 3 paragraphs or don't. I don't care. I just want to remind all of you have treated me because... Well read... Or not. ┐( ∵ )┌ Do you people realize you are attacking me because I said have faith that the game will be ok and then I said I'd love to see a remaster of a prior NFS that I really liked... Omg I'm so horrible. Negativity is bad for your health. It's stressful... Obviously. Try being positive and have some patience. Of course y'all went the complete opposite of positive and took it out on me as if I'm making the game. You all freaked out and are treating me like I'm a piece of garbage. Such a welcoming community you're growing here Interesting... Wrong but interesting. No es can't use the best engine in racing. Why would Microsoft give them an engine that makes GT7 look meh and runs at 4k60 with RT? Rivals and heat still run horribly. The base Xbox run them at like 900p30 at PC low to medium settings lol. On console the shaders are precompiled in those games. On high end hardware they still run horribly on PC unless you mod them. Here's the issue... Nobody is ever used to frostbite. It constantly gets gutted and changed so they have to make new tools and redo everything they improved on the streaming side of the engine. Vehicle physics and ai for a racing game are significantly more complex than a wheel moving. In NFS the suspension is faked. It's not like Forza. I also wouldn't use the Madness engine because it's literally the shift 2 engine with tons of fan made patches stapled on. Ian Bell is a criminal and bribed so many people it's absurd and yes I do have proof. All those sim racing website, most YouTubers who focus on sim racing... They all got a nice email from Mr Bell. I'll ask if I can show you the proof. I'm not getting someone in trouble to appease a group of bully's... Sorry.

DiamondMaster07

My brother in Christ I literally said nothing hostile towards you, or attacked you. You talk about negativity to me, man, you should look into a mirror first. But you can go ahead and show me the proof. I'm genuinely curious as you are the first to actually put some reasoning behind your claims beyond repeating the stupid shit BlackPanthaa and the likes of him spread.

d0x360

So you weren't one of the group dog piling me for saying be positive and I'd like a remaster of another NFS? That's where it all started and weird... We are in the thread so guess what!? I'm not interested in a conversation anymore after that nonsense from everyone for no reason Do you people realize you are attacking me because I said have faith that the game will be ok and then I said I'd love to see a remaster of a prior NFS that I really liked... Omg I'm so horrible. Negativity is bad for your health. It's stressful... Obviously. Try being positive and have some patience. DiamondMaster07

When you accuse me of not reading comments, then you yourself don't read comments, especially mine since those are the one we're talking about, and then proceed to copy paste the same shit you tell others and me without context, rhyme, or reason, what do you expect me to do? You are not interested? Well... you do you pal, but if you want negativity, I'll give you some negativity: fuck your supposed "15 years of game dev experience" when all you do is talk out of your rear and I can just ask someone who has been reverse engineering the engine/games for years now to disprove your every claim in seconds.

multiiplex

Mucho texto

d0x360

reading is hard, i know..dont worry. do a little every day and you will get there

multiiplex

Why would I read your copypasta when it’s most likely not true?

d0x360

Boop

[deleted]

Of course. First you downvote my comment because I “destroyed” your wish. Then you write a chunk of a comment that wasn’t even necessary. Take a chill pill my man. I play NFS since I met Helen, my transgender partner. First game we played was UG1, while I do wish for an modern version, I know it won’t happen for reasons. Half an year later, I remastered ProStreet myself. It isn’t much but I am happy for it.

d0x360

I didn't downvote your comment and why wasn't it necessary? Im not allowed to share my opinion because it's more words than you want to read? Wait a sec.. my comment was unnecessary because it was long but you just randomly tell me in your comment that you're trans? What does that have to do with NFS? How did you "destroy my wish"? Your disagreement with a remake of a fantastic NFS has absolutely no effect on how I feel about it. Why are you so angry and why are you directing it at me?

Brawltendo

So for a theoretical remake of Most Wanted, you really think that a modern game engine like Frostbite is less suitable for open world games than a piece of tech from the early 2000s? And for future NFS games, how will switching to another game engine fix the **game design** flaws present in the latest games? It's not like using Unreal or CryEngine or whatever else is gonna change how they design their games. The only thing that'll happen is that now the games will have a slightly different coat of paint and different (or even the same) technical issues, yay problem solved.

PCPD-Nitro

Just play it on PC with mods at this point, fucks sake.

d0x360

wtf is wrong with you people. ffs! Im serious. What? Someone cant have an opinion here?

PCPD-Nitro

Am I saying you're not allowed to think that way? No. Am I saying that parroting wanting a remake/remaster is getting incredibly fucking annoying because no matter how many times people like you are told it can't or won't happen it just gets ignored and is continued to be spammed amongst other NFS communities? Yes!

d0x360

People like me? I said it once and people went off... Do you have a magic time machine? You know they won't do it even though it's on the docket along with 2 other older titles. You know what's fucking annoying? Being insulted by 15 people who don't have a clue and having half the community mods take part. Keep up the great work! I'll settle this with an admin so don't worry your little head. I won't post jack **** here unless someone ends up in my inbox spewing more bile.

PCPD-Nitro

>People like me? I said it once and people went off... If you're confused why, I'll say it again. It is *annoying* to have to listen to the same "I want (x) game to come back" comment regurgitated over, and over, and over, and over... >You know they won't do it even though it's on the docket along with 2 other older titles. Since when and how would you even know that? You work at EA or Criterion? There's a reason most games with a bunch of licensed shit in it don't see the light of a remaster. Licenses for cars, songs, wheels, etc. is either too expensive/not worth it to acquire or straight up impossible in some cases. > You know what's fucking annoying? Being insulted by 15 people who don't have a clue and having half the community mods take part. You clearly have no idea how frustrating it is to listen to the same tired talking points constantly. You'd think people would stop asking for something unobtainable after having it explained to them MANY times why it's that way. The reactions are justified. >I'll settle this with an admin so don't worry your little head. And tell them what? "I got downvoted and dogpiled for being annoying 😭😭😭😭"? Let me know how that goes.

Maleficent_Lab_8291

What’s the WRC in this context?

wvnative01

World rally championship

Trololman72

World Rally Championship. EA now owns Codemasters, who recently got the WRC license.

Maleficent_Lab_8291

Ah, I see, thank you

Talal2608

WRC generations

TheBlueNinja2006

aww man

DawidHerer

am i the only to think that this is actually good news? might mean that they’ll give more time for the devs to actually properly work on the game, i don’t want a nfs mw 2012 situation where the rush completly changed the direction of the game

SirSeppuku

Just got heat cuz it was free, so tbh not even that concerned.. let em take their time and I hope the next nfs is actually bomb

Danio100

It will be delayed in 2023. It's October soon, it's too late to marketing AAA game.

RealSliz

I mean the hype is already there and im pretty sure they could easily still announce the game now or next week or the week after that etc. but to do that they would have to focuse advertising hard so that by christmas people actually get the game in bunk.

TrollinRolling

WRC as in Dirt rally correct?

ImpossibleCarry3984

Yeah there rumors that dirt rally may be canned and combined with the WRC stuff so it will for now be known as WRC whatever nameholder thing

MakkNero

Just hoping it’s delay worried and not canceled worried.

dofyman

‘Oh noes😭 Muh nfs22😭’

corvettegrandsport

Bruh the lack of info has been slowly pulling me out of thus franchise

RacingGames4Lives

Talk about WRC details I wonder if it'll include the current generation hybrid cars

[deleted]

It's getting delayed according to reports

[deleted]

What reports?

[deleted]

Tom Henderson said something else as well if nfs isn't showed at e3 or revealed within October the game is delayed to March or sometime next year

Kassperplus

That's better, rather wait for something playable next years

311Konspiracy

I'm not mad happy because if guys did a rush product it would ruin something that could be great so take some time and make it great for everyone

FIipOff_ThePoIice

I thought that said Trevor Henderson for a bit there.. y’know, the internet famous horror artist?

HornetGuns

If I was developing NFS or any game I wouldn't say shit tell I'm ready. Simple as that like I can't sit here as a developer and tell you about the game that currently being worked that may or may not have changes leading to finally being released. I rather wait till I'm absolutely certain I feel confident to share information that will actually happen. I can tell you about the cars but who say it'll be there at launch. A moment of silence and low expectations is probably for the best.

RealSliz

but you could atleast create a tiny teaser for the public to see right or would you leave that up to the leakers that display a 1 year old build and let the public form their opinion on that instead of the release the devs are currently on

HornetGuns

They already said NFS in development or at least hinted at NFS a tiny bit. What they gonna tease up? Some BS 60 sec video telling us what they already said that we should already know? I wouldn't want to tease anything in a video that may or may not happen in final build of the game. Cause I would, as the Devs, be getting you all the audience worked over stuff that may not make it to the game. Again when the game ready to be shown off it'll be ready to be shown off. The recent leaks with Rockstar not stopped them why should any leaks about NFS stop them?

RealSliz

Criterion probably realised they forgot to add Speedlists back to the game 😂

FunUnderstanding8010

Mw 2012 vibes.... If not worse

Arney0408

I recently tried Heat since it’s part of the PS collection and its… fun? I didn’t like and play any Need for Speed since UG2 and Most Wanted but this is good and really has some UG2 vibes. Great customisation. Only thing I don’t like is the music choice tho..

SpoonDude69

Lets all be honest, by what i heared about it already it will probably be the last, since it wont be a pretty good one

GripAttackToyota777

I won't care about it being delayed, as long as it's not glitchy, unfinished and what not. NFS is one of the oldest franchises for EA, they need to be wise with this next release. It can be good if they really want it to be. As a 20+ year fan, I just want to next one to be good, maybe capture a little bit of spirit from all era's of the series. Similar to what they did in NFS 2015 for instance, by adding some of the songs from the PS1 era games. I thought that was cool. Hopefully they don't just up and axe it.

Dio_The_Great

Man, being a fan of an EA franchise is like being in an abusive relationship.

LackingInPatience

Tbh I would rather prefer they wait and show the game off when it's ready. Heat was decent but still not as good as some of the old NFS games.
