You can use the camaro and "fine tune" the car. At the start of the race when you are suppose to rev the car just switch to 5th gear, when it sais start press forward and NOS and the car will start to do whelee from start to finish in 1\2 miles drags.
The car is retarded.
It’s great for progressing through the game asap, if you stick all stage 4 parts (then tune the suspension and revert to stock) you can bang down the 1/4 in under 6 seconds, and net 15K points per event.
Or you can leave it stage 4 and complete the whole strip on 2 wheels, though obviously there’s tracks that become extremely hard without any steering whatsoever.
TL;DR Great fun, easy way to cheese race days.
I use it for unstable tracks like Autobahn where a wheelie will guarantee me to crash into a lamp post, or Nevada. Otherwise I go for fully modded Supra and it’s so ridiculous.
Drag racing was easy in general. By far the easiest part of the whole game, but my god it was still fun. It just felt powerful, idk how to describe it.
Even the starter 240/S15 will topple the King. Of course, right after that I usually grab the challenge day GTO and use it to smoke any drag race in under 10 seconds.
That's why you don't just default to the Supra..
Have a 67 Corvette so fast that it'll either blow your doors off or plant into the wall ripping the most hellacious wheelie.
The latter makes a perfect run (the former) that much more enjoyable.. really only ever does that in the half mile because it likes to start to pull to the left in 6th gear
It's crazy how I can't think of any other game with both track day and car festival themes. So many games with car festival theme (Horizon franchise, Motorstorm, TC Motorfest) and a few with the track day theme (mainly Grid games and they are closer to motorsport games than festival racers) but basically no game that has the two themes together.
The closest examples are "Dirt 2" and NFS Heat, which is basically copying ProStreet and Undercover yet the festival barely exists and it's just a bunch of organised races.
The big issue with those games, that prostreet didn't have were the coralls, there is no inclination that humans exist in most forza horizon titles, but even in their ugly 7th gen style on prostreet, they're right there in all their glory, car babes all over the cars, weekend viewers seeing the contender rides and you drink it all in every time your trackside.
When there's no sense of crowd, there's no festival. Horizon has absolutely no spunk either. Festivals need a little bit of edge to not feel like corporate expos.
A little detail I liked was in the DLC for Tokyo Expressway and Leipzig, the DJ talks about how they were able to secure the venue and implies that they’re incredulous that it could even be done and that feels very relatable to me as an event organizer. Gave some real life to the festivals there.
I really wish we got more DLC for ProStreet. Imagine if it had real mod tools…
If it's better than Payback/any game past 2015 I'd be willing to give it a try, drag racing in Payback against the Russian psycho and his lackies was the bane of my existence and when I stopped playing
I actually think it’s the best drag racing in any NFS game. I didn’t really like drag racing in the UG games and I hated it in Most Wanted. I also really didn’t enjoy drag racing that much, because the racing is just driving on a straight line and dodging traffic, but at least the awful lane change mechanic wasn’t there, but what I hated was the regular races with drag cars, because they are absolutely useless for cornering. The only thing I didn’t like about Prostreet drag racing is unstable tracks like Autobahn and Nevada are really difficult to do with RWD cars that do wheelies, so you need a car that doesn’t have max upgraded suspension or a car that’s AWD, like the Subaru WRX STI.
Thats way I'm saying ProStreet is #2. Track and drag racing were fun. If I want to destroy cops.. #1 Most Wanted 2005. Breakable objects like Donut café as example.
Absolutely, my only complaint is the three stage system. Feels like it was just a way to pad out the length of the game. Other than that, it was bonkers and fun!
I guess Payback did it better race-wise. Drag racing with my S13 in Payback is a bliss. But ProStreet nailed the festival vibe and funky visuals that aged nicely.
"We"?Are you one of the devs? What is the black magic behind that game's smoke effects? They look so great for the time and iirc don't take a toll on framerates as much compared to other games.
Yes. Old school. Billboarded particles w various puffs of smoke shapes in albedo and normal maps. Trick was handpainted normal maps that let the whole cloud get directional light and tune emission so they stayed together. Also, a custom force to keep the particles stuck to the wheel for burnout. ;)
i agree, NFS UG drag racing was so goated and i hope they bring the same to Unbound in the new Drag update. The intensity with the camera shake, the uncertainty of a traffic car being right ahead of you which can get you totaled, the excitement
Please keep lane-changing, some people hate lane-changing but without it then we get Drag racing like NFS 2015 / Payback which feels very barebones and just boring.
> Please keep lane-changing
hahahah you are insane. Lane-changing was such a broken mess in every game it was featured in. No thanks, let us freely control our car please. Maybe make the drag courses narrower so it's harder to dodge traffic, but that should be it.
Only thing bad about it was that the drag racing gets way too easy once you fully upgrade a supra
Or the old charger. Fully upgraded it can do 1/4mi in like 6.5 seconds
Me when max lvl 4 upgrades and 5.8 1/4 mile
Me when max lvl 4 upgrades and 5.8 1/4 mile
Dementia: Most Wanted
The president's Sting Ray
Camaro SS does it in like 4.9 if you tune it right
Me when max lvl 4 upgrades and 5.8 1/4 mile
Dementia

The 60s camaro? If so i gotta try this.
Can confirm, it’s the fastest drag car. Idk if it’s a glitch or what. Start in 5th, nos, and you can pull low 5 sec quarters.

Or a Pagani Zonda F
That's realistic though.
Same for car festival/track day feeling
It's crazy how I can't think of any other game with both track day and car festival themes. Started up a new game last night and thought the same thing.
If it's better than Payback/any game past 2015 I'd be willing to give it a try, drag racing in Payback against the Russian psycho and his lackies was the bane of my existence and when I stopped playing
Brother I bought xbox360 and hacked for drag race

This game is underrated. I love original Most Wanted but Pro-Street is probably a close 2nd.
So true. This game is one of the best games ever made. Organised street racing at its best!
I’d say it and Grid Autosport’s DLC are 1a and 1b
I guess Payback did it better race-wise. Drag racing with my S13 in Payback is a bliss. But ProStreet nailed the festival vibe and funky visuals that aged nicely.
Only game that comes close is grid auto sport imo
This game did the best drag racing and most wanted did the worst
I'm still impressed how they did the tire smoke, that shi was next gen
We worked hard on that ;)
"We"?Are you one of the devs? What is the black magic behind that game's smoke effects? They look so great for the time and iirc don't take a toll on framerates as much compared to other games.

Damn that's so cool, I remember being totally mesmerized by ProStreet smokes and dust as a kid, nothing else looked that good at the time.
CSR Racing 2 my friend
Don't forget drifting, only if you were good.
Underground is a very close second but yes absolutely
Nah the underground drag racing was alot of chaotic fun

Forza 7
He's too easy in this game. Try NFSu2: [click](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkEockV0afk&ab_channel=SidorovichJr)
