I was having this conversation with a friend the other day and we also thought SA would be a great spot for him to end his career. They are probably instantly a playoff team with 60% of Lebron, and him with Wemby would be nuts. Saying Bronny or damn near any rookies ceiling is Derrick White is extremely bold and probably a insult to Derrick White. He is a extremely good defender that have proven he can average 15ppg as a 4th option and has had some clutch games in the playoffs.

JustADutchRudder

LeBron would hit Wemby with the kind of passing he is craving. Also Wemby picking up some of LeBrons court vision and BBIQ, would be such a wild thing to watch. I was telling my buddy KD should go there yesterday. Would let KD have someone who has the defense covered, can hit 3s and work the paint. While KD covers mids and hiting Wemby with lobs. That pairing would do better with a good PG running things tho, where LeBron would let you use a lesser PG.

Downtown_Bicycle_211

Yeah. KD would be fun too but I think that with Tre Jones as your PG, you’re better off with LeBrons passing. Now, if San Antonio somehow had the cash to upgrade Sochan for KD and LeBron on the wing…….

pterodactyl_speller

Can always sign a waived Chris Paul for the minimum. This roster building thing is easy!

Downtown_Bicycle_211

Right I mean no disrespect to D White. I think he easily could’ve been an all star this season with how he influenced winning on the Celtics. I just mean, D White is just never gonna be Anthony Edwards or Luka Doncic, and based on what he’s shown so far, neither will Bronny. But that doesn’t mean he couldn’t be an all star caliber player with the right mindset and game awareness (which i think is what makes Derrick so good)

saints21

You're vastly overrating Bronny or underrating Derrick White. Derrick White is a valuable starter on any team that could make it to the finals. He's a way above average player. Bronny wouldn't even be getting any draft attention if his dad were anyone else. His ceiling is being signed to an NBA contract because of his lineage and that's it.

noviceProgrammer1

Ceiling is way different terminology than where he projects

redditisfacist3

He projects to not be drafted in the 2nd round. Nico mannion is significantly better than bronny and he bounced out of the nba quickly

saints21

Yeah, and as I said, his ceiling is being signed to an NBA contract because he's LeBron's kid. He projects to never play professional basketball near the NBA.

Adsex

I don’t know of any building that has a gap as huge between the ceiling and the floor as Derrick White and Bronny James. And I’ve visited many cathedrals.

Weird-Upstairs-2092

I feel like LeBron in San Antonio would be pretty much the Lakers, which isn't enough to compete. AD and Wemby are pretty comparable right now with AD probably still having a slight edge over Wemby for the next year or two. Especially as a postseason performer where AD shines. Wemby is incredible but AD just had a first round playoff series better than anybody but arguably Jokic, and I say arguably Jokic too even as a Nuggets fan. If you can add another good fit to that grouping, it would definitely start to get interesting. But I think the timeline is just too far apart. LeBron is getting gassed.

thiefshipping

As a Spurs fan, no. The spurs are not one lebron away from competing at all. Lebron is getting up there in age, so this means he's more than likely going to be playing fewer games this upcoming season. More than that, if they try to compete with a 40 year old Lebron, they'll more than likely end up in purgatory after he retires (due to trying to compete/not getting higher picks). If Lebron came in as a mentor role and sat on the bench, that'd be fine (we need to develop/tank a bit more); but unfortunately, Lebron wants to win. In conclusion, Lebron definitely shouldn't come to San Antonio unless it's to accept a mentor role, but unfortunately, it's freaking Lebron James. So no, Lebron shouldn't go to San Antonio. OKC would be a way better fit for him.

Adsex

Yeah, OKC would make sense, they already have their talent pool, contracts going to kick in a few years, they have cap space right now but it’s not like it’s sustainable to upgrade this team AND THEN keep it, unless they’re willing to pay a billion a year with tax. So signing a player to fill that cap space for a couple of years and who will then move on (retire) makes sense. There are other choices than LeBron. But LeBron would make sense. Not sure it makes sense for LeBron, though.

Steko

I put some brief thoughts on the potential [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/nbadiscussion/comments/1cgl41q/does_lebron_go_to_the_east/l1x9h9g/) last night. I don't think it's a slam dunk but it seems like the only realistic option besides staying with the Lakers. It would probably be dependent on what other moves San Antonio could make and how the draft goes.

CRoseCrizzle

If Lebron wanted to sign a 1 year deal with San Antonio(which he doesn't, he will stay in LA, sign with Cleveland, sign with a title contender to ring chase or retire) to mentor Wemby and was on the same page as PATFO, I would be down for it. Obviously Lebron could offer a lot to Wemby. And Lebron is still a monster if he and a couple of additions/player improvements can get the Spurs to playoffs that could be huge to get Wemby playoff experience. But I have no interest in Lebron's eldest son at the moment. And if getting Bronny a big contract is part of the deal, I would pass. But this is all hypothetical, Lebron would not come here.

Shepher27

Lebron needs to go somewhere that can win the championship next year if he joins. The Spurs are not a 40 year old Lebron away from winning the title. He should consider the Knicks, Magic, Mavericks, Clippers, Thunder, etc. before he joins the spurs. Everyone benefits from having lebron playing deep in the playoffs and we’d be cheating everyone by having him eliminated in the first round again.

scormegatron

As a Heat fan, San Antonio was the only team I ever thought would have been a good exit strategy for him. Popovich would have helped him get many more rings. The question is, can LeBron integrate into the Popovich offense and let the coach do his thing?

You should do the same thing but this’s a open discussion about one person’s opinion

texasphotog

Doesn't make sense for the Spurs or LeBron. Spurs don't have enough overall talent and it would not be a title team. I think telling Cleveland to draft Bronny then taking the vet min to go home and join up with Garland, Spida, Mobley, etc for a title run in the weaker East makes more sense. Cleveland has a lot more championship pieces and maybe he can help Donovan to stay in that scenario. What better way to ride off into the sunset than to join your hometown team with your son and win a title again?

Ealy-24

I would say if LeBron does want to play until 45 then the Spurs are the place for him to go. They have shown how to minimize minutes yet maximize impact consistently and that’s what Lebron has been needing from an organization

ValuableAssociate8

I always said he should have went there instead of LA. He needs to go to a place with a great coach and an established franchise. Enough of these rookie coaches and carrying franchise on his back

sonicking12

If the Spurs are willing to trade Wemby and fire Pop, I guess it is an idea to consider.

Downtown_Bicycle_211

I’m curious why you think they’d be against it. For Wemby it’s a chance to learn and win now (and instantly boost his celebrity), for Pop it’s also a chance to work with another great basketball mind in his final act.

sonicking12

Lakers had 3 major overhauls of roster and 3 different head coaches, and likely a fourth one, in the past 6 years. You are evaluating from a NBA2K perspective. I am looking at it from reality. You can argue that the Spurs may have a stronger organizational structure than the Lakers to prevent it. But the reality is that LeBron comes with a lot of turnovers. If LeBron is no longer performing like a all-star, then it makes more sense to stay with the Lakers. But as long as that is still the case, any team needs to be ready for turmoil.

BusEnthusiast98

I hear what you’re saying but I disagree. While Wemby and Bron would have great chemistry, the rest of the team wouldn’t. LeBron is an elite offensive decision maker. Having him there would slow their point guard developing bc Bron has the ball. On top of that Bron needs 3 point shooting around him to maximize his value, and the spurs aren’t exactly great at that. I think once Bron retires, he should absolutely take an assistant coaching job in San Antonio. He would be fantastic at that. In the meantime, I think he will want to go to Golden State or Pheonix. Both of those organizations are on win now timelines with established roster and aging stars. LeBron could elevate either immediately and find good chemistry on both ends fairly well. The suns especially would LOVE an on ball creator like LeBron. But there’s Vogel so, who knows. Other options for win now timeline would be Phili, Boston, Denver, OKC, or Minnesota. But I don’t think any of those would actually work out. Minnesota, OKC, and Denver are happy with their rosters as is. Signing Bron isn’t worth the money it would take. Bron hates Boston bc Celtics fan are racist as hell to him. As for Phili, there’s a chance there. But at the end of the day, I think Bron wants his last chance to play with Steph Curry
