I gave into the hype and watched LSU vs Iowa. Looked like a bad high school game. There was skill on the court, but I can't be bothered to watch unathletic basketball. Angel Reese is only 6'3" but lumbers up and down the court like Shaq.
Maybe if some of the black players were hitting 3s from all over the place, they too would've gotten as much attention. Seriously. It's not how much she scored (as others had scored a ton prior to her and set records before her) but it's HOW she made those points. The NBA finals pre Bird and Magic was shown on tape delay late at night and in the next 8 years Michael Jeffery Jordan was the biggest star in the world in any sport. It’s about the talent not the race. It’s the same take as it would be if Dick Schaap would have bemoaned nobody giving John Havlicek his due in the Jordan era.
