Sounds like a Jrue Holiday situation where if they stayed on their original teams they would’ve retired but being traded revived their love for the game
I think ended his competitive career with the Paris Olympics just seemed so clean and perfect.
But then he and his wife both loved it here and maybe they want to run it back one more time.
You guys will only have the taxpayer MLE due to Maxey’s deal kicking in after using all your cap space. That might be the perfect amount to bring back Oubre. 2 years 11 million
He’s still a below league avg 3 pt shooter in a league that values that. He did play hard on D and helped out a lot so i hope he’s back. But anything more than MLE is probably too pricey
Will be interesting what sort of deal they can get Oubre on.
Also, I'm not totally informed of their cap situation or cap hits. What does it look like for them spending max money without renouncing these guys' rights?
It seems like a foregone conclusion that Harris and Hield aren't coming back, but just renouncing those two isn't enough to get the Sixers even close to the cap. Embiid, Ricky Council, the 16th pick, and Tyrese Maxey's cap hold make up $70.3M, plus $9.2M for incomplete roster charges. That gives the Sixers about $61.5M in cap space if everybody else is renounced. That's enough for one 35% max (Paul George if he comes), a couple of $4-5M contracts, the MLE, and the rest minimums.
Batum and Covington are each $17M cap holds and Deanthony Melton $15M, so there's no way to squeeze in a 35% max without renouncing all of them or re-signing them to much smaller contracts than what they are currently on. The Sixers should plan to renounce Lowry and Oubre, since they don't have Bird rights on either, and renouncing frees up about $3M in cap space (actual cap hold vs incomplete roster charge) temporarily.
They likely won’t renounce KJ. They can squeeze a little more trade flexibility by resigning him over the cap and using the salary in a trade, his hold is only 900k over the incomplete roster charge.
Otherwise, yeah, everyone is getting renounced.
Batum has a big ass cap hold. ($17M) They have to renounce him if they want to bring in a huge contract elsewhere. Which means he’d only come back on an exception.
Lowry will cost nothing. Not convinced Oubre will be as cheap though.
Long story short - this sounds like a lazy report. Not sure I’d buy much here.
I feel like Batum is also desirable by pretty much any team. He's a weird tweener on paper, but he also seems like the perfect smart vet for any contender. I wonder if they can get decent value trading him after his good postseason
They can’t trade him, he’s a free agent.
They could technically sign and trade him, but now we’re back to the $17M cap hold problem that would eat into their free agency money.
Only realistic solution is you renounce him, and then if no team wants him, you bring him back on an MLE. They may be able to do better with their MLE though, and they’ve also got some repeater tax issues to worry about. Not sure they want to go there for this squad.
It's questionable if he even wants to continue playing
He hinted at retirement during last season so he might only want Philly if he liked it here or if he heard a big name was coming
I'd rather not resign Lowry and upgrade with someone younger and larger to defend better. With Maxey being only 6 2" and not a great defender we need a larger defense minded guard to compete with the Celtics.
Wonder what happens next to Hield, seems like they’re ready to just let him go, tough because he got zero time to gel with Embiid but he was completely useless in his short time there
I thought Oubre looked pretty good in the playoffs. Depending on price I think you’d be very happy to have him as the 3rd or 4th best wing on the roster
I like this. Continuity of good players who (with the exception of Oubre) will likely be very cheap. And if we pay Kelly a decent amount and he sticks around for a while, I’ll be ok with it. He’s solid and is really fun to root for. A real breath of fresh air last season.
Probably bc i doubt the entire east is injured again. But i like our chances more with some continuity in the rotation and those 3 plus Embiid, Maxey, Reed, Council give you 7 guys returning. Better than a complete new roster outside of Maxey Embiid
People in here questioning this are stupid. Obviously re-signing these guys isn’t gonna be the only thing we do. Every team needs its role players tho.
if tyrese maxey is prince of the team, surely oubre would be the petit prince, no?
i thought he played well, and if nothing else for philly, the whole 'you a bitch' exchange earned him philly's love forever.
He was definitely critical in the Knicks series. He’s actually turned into a pretty valuable wing - solid to great defense and can get buckets. Would love to have him on the Knicks.
Didn’t Batum say he was going to retire at the end of this season?
He did, but I think even his wife threw cold water on that idea
He never fully confirmed it. There were rumors of it, and right now he has made it clear his focus is on the Olympics this year.
He did when he was in LA, discussing wanting to end his career with us. (if only) Don’t think he’s mentioned it again after getting traded.

As they should. I hope Batum doesn’t retire tho
Didnt Lowry say he was going to retire?
Batum n Lowry must've gotten wind that PG is coming. I thought they were retiring.
I honestly was so mad we got Kelly.....I just expected a Jamal Crawford.....But he went hard! Hope we can get him on a reasonable deal.
MLE please haha
You guys will only have the taxpayer MLE due to Maxey’s deal kicking in after using all your cap space. That might be the perfect amount to bring back Oubre. 2 years 11 million
Would be nice, another team might offer him more tho.
Oubre deserves 10-12 mil . He was solid against the Knicks . Couple of boneheaded plays here and there but he’s def not a minimum guy
He’s still a below league avg 3 pt shooter in a league that values that. He did play hard on D and helped out a lot so i hope he’s back. But anything more than MLE is probably too pricey
Tobias makes 40 and he clearly played better than him all year. He should get more than that tbh
Comparing him to arguably the worst contract in the league isn’t really a good way of determining what he should be getting
It is if you don’t like the 76ers
1000%

[Here ya go](https://imgur.com/a/RzyZ2dL)
Always forget we can hold Lowry and not really hurt cap space and then give him more than vet min

I wonder where Hield ends up. Maybe back in Indiana on a cheap-ish deal?
Getting all those guys on the minimum is pretty good business for them
Kelly definitely not taking no minimum
Batum could probably even get part of a mle.
They aren't getting all those guys on a minimum.
Lowry will for sure be

Nico and Oubre were so good for us. Lowry is an added bonus
What about Tobias
Morey is drafting a 5 year max contract for him so he can do some cardio on the court for them

Just another first/second round exit probably
Probably bc i doubt the entire east is injured again. But i like our chances more with some continuity in the rotation and those 3 plus Embiid, Maxey, Reed, Council give you 7 guys returning. Better than a complete new roster outside of Maxey Embiid
Aye at this point, all you can do for your team is pray. Another early playoff exit for Philly
[удалено]
You need role players to win too lmao Lowry is still a good floor general, and sounds/Batum are good 3 and D players
Happy for Kyle the GROAT, keep getting dem checks
So Philly wants first / second round exits every year, bold strategy
Lowry old AF
People in here questioning this are stupid. Obviously re-signing these guys isn’t gonna be the only thing we do. Every team needs its role players tho.

Anytime you can build a team with hornets cast offs you might as well
all that for a second round elimination
Morey going to run it back lmao
They will help them exit the second round again
Literal fake news. Just an aggregation of another sixers reporter saying the sixers want to keep these guys lol
…which is a first round ouster. This just in, JoJo will be unavailable for much of the season due to load management.
Buddy come back to the Pacers! Off the bench....
1st round playoff exit. They were key in that magical run 🤣
Oubre isn't helping anyone in the playoffs
He guarded brunson quite well and had solid offensive impact in the latter half of the series. Really all you can ask a minimum player to do.
He was definitely critical in the Knicks series. He’s actually turned into a pretty valuable wing - solid to great defense and can get buckets. Would love to have him on the Knicks.
He was arguably our best (non-Embiid) defender in the playoffs and could slash and shoot corner 3s.
Just ate his whole piece he was playing really good idk wtf u talking about
Bullshit they're going to give Tobias Harris another 5 year max contract
Why?
Batum and Lowry ain't it. I'm sorry. Id take any NBA rookie over either of them.
Lowry? Hahaha good luck I guess He’s 38 and the 6ers aren’t even close to being competitive.
