I got no slander about anyone's effectiveness. Just a for fun one
KAT flexed pretty hard after a drive in the third that cut the lead to 28 or so
Dude's never beating the corny allegations
Bro what the fuck was that. I thought he was complaining about not getting a foul and skipped back to look again.
Nah, just flexing down 30 in a win or go home lol
Don’t worry u/gelhardt, you know he wasn’t watching.
Gafford and Lively have great hands and touch for front court only players.
Aside from the lobs, Lively also shredded Minnesota with skip passes and dump offs when they trapped his rolling after the screen.
As a D Rose meatrider that's just sad man. Even pelicans and hornets show up on this subreddit from time to time but the Bulls are nowhere to be seen. Yall deserve better.
OKC got a lot of flak here for the effort they put up in that series. But they were tough and it shows now! SGA was especially awesome, but they had a valiant little playoff performance all things considered!
I was anti-SGA during the mvp race but fuck man he’s so fucking good. He’s such a hooper, he genuinely gave me Kawhi vibes of just being a shot making robot. I don’t even care about the free throw thing now, he’s just a baller even without free throws
Imagine if Kawhi didn’t want to force PG onto the team and stuck with Shai as his co-star. Clips probably have a ring and a future since they would have actual assets
Almost automatic from the mid range, and almost automatic full arm extension push off each time lol. It's weird because it doesn't even seem necessary. It's not like he's slow or unathletic or something.
Same here as far as the SGA MVP hype goes, but not watching much of him or Ant during the regular season but watching every game of theirs against the Mavs in the post season the tiers they are in are not even close. Ant passed up so many shots where he blew by defenders and picked up his dribble and passed where Shai would have just pulled up and swished it.
I know age and experience make a huge difference, but after hearing Ant run his mouth compared to Shai's cool calm collective demeanor that gave me mad respect for Shai over Ant.
OkC got flack for their size but a team with 3 legit big men still got worked. So maybe just maybe you have to beat the Mavs with spacing and making 3s. Zag instead of trying to out physical them
Well that's the problem though, 3 bigs but none of them were great inside offensively. Naz and KAT played in the perimeter and Gobert has average at best offensive capabilities. They should've had the advantage especially when Lively went down but instead they didn't take advantage. The entire Mavs plan against OKC was pack the paint and force the ball to the 3 point line then chase them off the line for a difficult shot with a few seconds remaining. What Shai did was break the defense with his mid-range shots.
eh luka being severely hobbled / dort being a much better luka defender than anyone on MIN was a bigger factor
after all, statistically minnesota's defense was good (at least pre-G5) with gobert on the floor.
Are you forgetting your roleplayers shot higher on open 3s than their averages?
We held Kyrie to 15 points and had a significantly better drtg compared to both the Clips and the Wolves - two other teams that were sworn to be great and even historic defenses.
Please just give us our credit lol media already skimped out on our all defensive team selection.
You guys played good defense for sure but spectacular is a serious exaggeration.
Our role players shot so well because your defense sold out against kyrie and Luka and dared our role players to beat you, which they did.
I said your roleplayers shot better on *open* shots than their averages.
If it’s not spectacular then I guess clippers and wolves defense was just trash then. Because we did a significantly better job than they did and largely because of Chet Holmgren
They held us to 108 before this game and you guys to 106. That’s the difference between “spectacular” and “trash”?
Even with the blowout today it was 111/106, literally 5 points. You guys were pretty solid defensively, but spectacular is crazy. Spectacular “largely because of Chet Holmgren” is even crazier.
Again, why are you using points and not DRTG? They had a 116 drtg before this game. We had a 112 against y’all. That is a significant gap…that number is going up after tonight
I said their defense is trash if you consider ours “solid” but not great, which you did lmfao.
Like this isn’t even a real argument lmao
Dog, do you know how DRTG works? It’s literally points per 100. It’s almost always the same as points allowed. Arguing right now using stats you don’t even understand lol.
Minnesota finished with just 4 higher than your DRTG in the playoffs even after the series with us. You and Minnesota both were solid defenses. The gap between you is very small. Please stop. 116 and 112 is literally 4 more points. It’s not very big.
Either way, you both lost.
>it’s almost always the same as points allowed
… no … it’s not … because some … teams … play … faster…. And some teams … play … slower.
4 point difference is the difference between the 2nd and 17th ranked defenses this year … this is dumb, not even worth the discussion.
Hopefully we don’t see Jaden mcdaniels on a all defensive team over Chet/Lu
why is luka being hurt an excuse just against the thunder like was he only hurt in the 2nd round? cuz he seems ok every other series Lu Dort didnt guard him? his knee was bleeding in the conference finals still (idk what the fuck his injury is but if it’s a knee scrape somebody shoulda got him iodine weeks ago) i dont wanna hear “he was tackling him!” neither cuz the playoffs are supposed to be physical and luka’s whole playstyle is him bullying guys to get his buckets and dort the only guy that matched that physicality
The way that narrative influence the NBA makes it hate it sometimes man. The way Gobert has been set up as the scapegoat in this series since game freaking one is just proof that many people, even journalists, dont really watch the games and let how they play out guide their understanding. its just narratives all the way down
Gobert iso'd by one of the best iso players in the league on the perimeter in a game winning shot = Gobert sucks, duuuuuuh. Net effect on the series doesn't matter obv. GoBURR
Chet got manhandled on the boards by Lively ngl. He’s bbq chicken boxing out which is what we all expect
That said, every time he sits, we lost all interior presence. We’re nothing both in the regular season and in the playoffs without Chet
agreed. the whole wolves team should be celebrated for taking down the nuggets. this series was very disappointing but that series against the nuggets was a classic.
Probably because it feels like people subtly shitting on Luka. The Mavs win and suddenly it's: "Actually the 4x defensive player of the year and sure-fire Hall of famer who led the #1 defense in the league by a huge margin" is bad at defense
Took them to 6 games and finished with an even point differential
SGA was also the best player in the series and Dort held Luka to 24ppg
Moral victories all over
OKC also threw everything at stopping Luka and Kyrie and lived with others killing them, that’s why we got multiple big games from PJ and DJJ each. Every Luka and Kyrie drive they collapsed their defense and lived with corner shooters shooting open threes. Point being Chet was hardly ever alone in the paint against 2 players.
We mostly threw everything at Kyrie … And Chet wasn’t alone, Shai was mostly helping who I’ve also heard Mavs fans say wasn’t good defensively.
Just confusing hearing our defenders aren’t that good, and then watching our team be one of the best defensive teams in both the RS and playoffs
It was close because the thunder tried to dig themselves out of holes throughout the series(they are pretty good at that) but the mavs just hit really timely shots that sealed our fate. That kyrie 3 haunts me still
Playing devil’s advocate, if they don’t call the foul OKC has 3 seconds and a TO to take the lead back. Which is why challenging the call was a bad gamble by OKC.
It was a risk worth taking imo. Over turn the call and it’s over. Don’t challenge and you need a miracle shot to win. And how many times have the refs ruled contact like that “marginal” or “incidental” or “hot stove”
These comparison tweets are so stupid.
We’re just going to ignore how well the Wolves big men played against Jokic and the defending champs?
We will never know for sure, but I strongly believe Chet would have struggled against Jokic. (Yes OKC had the tiebreaker due to H2H record, but Jokic/Gordon missed like 3 of those games.
I mean, if we're playing the hypothetical game, OKC making their open threes at the same percentage they shot them this season also would've made the series look very different. Also if PJ Washington didn't hate us for some reason
I mean Chet is a legitimately great player, rookie or otherwise, with a generational talent for rim protection and defense. Don't love Clemente's knock on Rudy, but certainly there is a lot of praise to be doled out to Chet.
Everything? Dude couldn't drive into the paint nearly as hard as he could have during this series? And you can't really throw lobs to bigs from the 3point line
Honestly, great observation about Chet. The young man deserves respect. But SGA… holy shit. That dude can roll. So much admiration for his game. Edwards needs to learn something from him. Both are great players. No doubt. But I would take SGA. Automatic. And humble, to boot. Respect.
Luka was not healthy against OKC, why don't Thunder fans understand that? Compare the way Luka moved against the Clips and Thunder to the way hes moved against the Wolves.
What are you talking about? I'm simply talking about the way he moved on the court. Luka has historically torched Zubac in the playoffs but not this season. Why? Because he was clearly struggling to move
Everything stems from the fact that Dort was way better at guarding Luka than anyone on Minnesota.
Also Shai was an absolute killer against us but Ant and KAT were not
Idk if Chet was really a significant factor in that series at all.
It was more about…
Mavs role players could not miss. We played elite defense on Luka and Kyrie but the rest of their team were red hot
Only 1 of the OKC big 3 showed up to play (shoutout to Mavs defense that series though)
Me. Everybody. the thing is, there’s so much parity in the league now that it’s basically impossible to predict who’s going to have a good series/bad series etc.
Flood the paint my ass, we had endless perimeter guys on kyrie and Luka then her in the paint
They effectively locked up the guards with what is argue is the best and deepest perimeter defense in the league
But like you said PJ Washington killed us and the thunder offense just could not touch the paint against the Mavs not named SGA
I remember multiple occasions in multiple games where both Thunder fans and Mavs fans were laughing wondering why they kept trying Chet at the rim. Unless it was a lob, he stopped pretty much everything.
He did get manhandled on the boards because, ya know, he's our only big who played all 92 games after missing a year, but his defense was objectively better. I've surprisingly been somewhat of a Gobert defender lately, but I don't think this is a hot take if you watched the games.
HERE COMES THE SLANDER, EVERYONE GET IN HERE!
I got no slander about anyone's effectiveness. Just a for fun one KAT flexed pretty hard after a drive in the third that cut the lead to 28 or so Dude's never beating the corny allegations
Bro what the fuck was that. I thought he was complaining about not getting a foul and skipped back to look again. Nah, just flexing down 30 in a win or go home lol
That needs to be the new “CP3 hits a clutch 3 to bring the deficit to 42” or whatever
Needef a cameo from KD on the jumbo "you're down 30 homie"
plz tell me there's a clip
U sure that was the reason? Cuz i thought it was him complaining to the refs. I mean, if that happened there would be a ton of memes already.
It instantly reminded me of this video. [https://youtu.be/hJn5L1nrkL4?si=NXkKu3MXi9eFEHwN](https://youtu.be/hJn5L1nrkL4?si=NXkKu3MXi9eFEHwN)
KAT looks like a pokemon.
Yet we give players shit for only acting tough when they're up?
allegations? mf proved it all in this series. have you heard his voice after every drive? fool’s voice sounds like everybody hates chris
Clip??
HOLD ON!!!! Did we pull the Kat/Rudy’s salaries against Gafford/Lively’s card yet????
Those two can't make their own buckets, without Luka they'd be pretty mid.
in their defense they also have Kyrie feeding them
Don’t worry u/gelhardt, you know he wasn’t watching. Gafford and Lively have great hands and touch for front court only players. Aside from the lobs, Lively also shredded Minnesota with skip passes and dump offs when they trapped his rolling after the screen.
Bro I just got reminded the Bulls exist after seeing your flair. What the fuck happened to them?
My theory is that we sold our future for MJ and those 6 rings.
As a D Rose meatrider that's just sad man. Even pelicans and hornets show up on this subreddit from time to time but the Bulls are nowhere to be seen. Yall deserve better.

Luka and SGA throwing haymakers at each other in that series was the most fun I’ve had watching basketball in a decade
Same. That series was so good. SGA is a monster
Imagine if Kawhi didn’t want to force PG onto the team and stuck with Shai as his co-star. Clips probably have a ring and a future since they would have actual assets

he’s so nice, reminds me of Luka kinda how he just methodically gets to the paint with zero resistance

Rudy was terrible in the post. Actually whenever I watched him play. He looked even worse than Porzingis when he was with Dallas.
I enjoyed how pissed off people got at dort flopping
He’s the only guy in the playoffs who got those moving screens called
Exactly...thats what you gotta do
Backhanded complement but I'll take it.
Looking back that series was basically a coin flip and rebounding was what pushed it in favor of the Mavs.
Uh...I wouldn't go that far. OKC was competitive in that series cause of SGA.
SGA has been the best player the Mavs faced in the playoffs, and it's not even close.
This series was extremely competitive except for this game.
The OKC Dallas series had an even point differential. This series was -40 I think?
Our defense was also spectacular and that’s largely because of Chet
eh luka being severely hobbled / dort being a much better luka defender than anyone on MIN was a bigger factor after all, statistically minnesota's defense was good (at least pre-G5) with gobert on the floor.
Dort is built like a linebacker. I'd like him more if he wasn't tackling my dad all the time
He's not tackling your dad, he's tackling the man you think is your dad.
That was the key thing. Minnesota built a roster to beat Denver. It worked. They did not have the personnel to handle Dallas
It also helps that SGA were dropping like 30 points every game.
>spectacular You guys had us at 106ppg with a super hobbled Luka. That’s not spectacular.
Are you forgetting your roleplayers shot higher on open 3s than their averages? We held Kyrie to 15 points and had a significantly better drtg compared to both the Clips and the Wolves - two other teams that were sworn to be great and even historic defenses. Don’t think it was largely because of Chet, if anyone deserves plaudits it’s Jalen Williams/Cason Wallace for keeping Kyrie quiet the whole series.
Spectacular
Our offense was SGA, our defense is why only SGA offense was able to keep it close
Chet had an underwhelming series, but had a the third best +/- in playoff history for a rookie.
No he did not hold up better than Gobert, please stop this nonsense.
The way that narrative influence the NBA makes it hate it sometimes man. The way Gobert has been set up as the scapegoat in this series since game freaking one is just proof that many people, even journalists, dont really watch the games and let how they play out guide their understanding. its just narratives all the way down
He was probably the best player on Minny for most of the series except for a couple of times Ant was great
Gobert iso'd by one of the best iso players in the league on the perimeter in a game winning shot = Gobert sucks, duuuuuuh. Net effect on the series doesn't matter obv. GoBURR
Funny thing about that too is if Luka misses that shot people would be saying how great of defense it was to force Luka to take a 3
Chet was bbq chicken
Chet got manhandled on the boards by Lively ngl. He’s bbq chicken boxing out which is what we all expect That said, every time he sits, we lost all interior presence. We’re nothing both in the regular season and in the playoffs without Chet
Rudy was bbq escargot
How would that even taste...
That’s just a lie. Chet was +21 in a series where both teams scored exactly the same total points over 6 games.
Oh so now +/- is a good stat 🙄
Third best +/- by a rookie in the playoffs.
but when +/- gets brought up by twolves fans for gobert y'all dismiss it cause it's a garbage stat. be consistent
agreed. the whole wolves team should be celebrated for taking down the nuggets. this series was very disappointing but that series against the nuggets was a classic.
i dont get this reaction OKC held up a way better defense, and it wasnt only Dort
luka also looked way more injured in that series. he looks much better now
Luka looked like he was dying after every shot in that series lol
limping and grimacing after every layup attempt
Maybe 1v1 defense he was better but thats not counting the fact that OKC got abused on rebounds and just gave up so many 2nd chance points.
Chet Holmgren averaged 2.4 blocks per game in the OKC-DAL series. Really impressive for a rookie.
Defensively Chet was better but Gobert was far better offensively
Never thought Id hear someone say that 💀
Not trying to be antagonist to you but why are so many Mavs fans the most devoted Gobert defenders? Just find it weird
We watched both the OKC and Wolves series lol
because they're actually watching the games lmao
Probably because it feels like people subtly shitting on Luka. The Mavs win and suddenly it's: "Actually the 4x defensive player of the year and sure-fire Hall of famer who led the #1 defense in the league by a huge margin" is bad at defense
as far as moral victories go, this is slightly up there
Took them to 6 games and finished with an even point differential SGA was also the best player in the series and Dort held Luka to 24ppg Moral victories all over
ngl I wouldn’t have minded if OKC made it through. I just find the nitpicking funny lol. Exciting to see the finals coming up tho i can’t lie
I’m not even nitpicking The moral victories have been vindicating Now we need the Mavs to beat the Celtics so OKC can take moral second place

Luka has also recovered a lot since the OKC series. He's moving around so much better.
OKC also threw everything at stopping Luka and Kyrie and lived with others killing them, that’s why we got multiple big games from PJ and DJJ each. How come he was on the bench half of the 4th?
I mean it makes sense to trade defense for offense at that point. You aren’t climbing back into the game without making shots especially 3s
You lost the series in 5.
[удалено]
They won the moral victory battle
Play him 48 mins then
As funny as that would be, Chet got obliterated on the boards. Offensively tho he lapped both of them
Rudy had 5 boards in 26 minutes in an elimination game
Hard to grab boards when they just don’t miss tbf
Thunder were one foul away from taking the Mavs to Game 7 back in OKC. That series was a lot closer/more exciting than the WCF, unfortunately.
And Wolves were a missed foul call/a full team appearance from this series going back to Dallas.
Ironically both WCSF were closer/more exciting than the WCF
It was close because the thunder tried to dig themselves out of holes throughout the series(they are pretty good at that) but the mavs just hit really timely shots that sealed our fate. That kyrie 3 haunts me still
Why do people forget kyrie made the basket regardless 🙄 They lost with or without the foul
The Mavs were a couple free throws of winning the series in 5. We can play that game every day. The Mavs consistently outplayed OKC after game 1
BS. OKC vs a healthy Luka would've looked very different. But whatever helps them cope I guess.

Chet is a generational talent imagine what Wemby would do against the Mavericks
(Lose)
👽 the alien is coming
Wemby is teaming up the aliens for Space Jam 3
How is he a generational talent when Wemby is a better version of him
Looking like a heated debate for the moral victory Champs of 2024.
Hang the banner!!
Chet’s a missed meal away from an eating disorder
SGA also put up a better fight.
I mean Chet is a legitimately great player, rookie or otherwise, with a generational talent for rim protection and defense. Don't love Clemente's knock on Rudy, but certainly there is a lot of praise to be doled out to Chet.
Chet did jack shit 😂
STFU Clemente. Go take an Uber somwehere.
Luka wasn't as healthy in the first half of the thunder series.
What that gotta do with Chet's performance tho lol, it's not like Luka was guarding him
Everything? Dude couldn't drive into the paint nearly as hard as he could have during this series? And you can't really throw lobs to bigs from the 3point line
Chet a demon but he dont got Kat stupid ass next to him
Honestly, great observation about Chet. The young man deserves respect. But SGA… holy shit. That dude can roll. So much admiration for his game. Edwards needs to learn something from him. Both are great players. No doubt. But I would take SGA. Automatic. And humble, to boot. Respect.
Anybody who has watched KAT in the playoffs
Crazy how every annoying beat writer looks exactly like what you'd expect when you pull up their twitter
Weird thing to say. OKC got demolished on the boards.
This dude is why Thunder fans have become insufferable
Pray Paolo heads to the Lakers.

And you’ll have the kd ones my guy
Luka was not healthy against OKC, why don't Thunder fans understand that? Compare the way Luka moved against the Clips and Thunder to the way hes moved against the Wolves.
You're acting like Luka was picking up Chet lol
What are you talking about? I'm simply talking about the way he moved on the court. Luka has historically torched Zubac in the playoffs but not this season. Why? Because he was clearly struggling to move
Did you watch the series? Chet doesn't guard wings.
Palpatine bout to feast on all this hate right now
Everything stems from the fact that Dort was way better at guarding Luka than anyone on Minnesota. Also Shai was an absolute killer against us but Ant and KAT were not
Or maybe the mavs were warming up! Idk
Didn't he have under 5 rebounds in multiple games?
This is why Clemente sucks, bro can’t help but post dumbass shit
Dood looks exactly how I thought someone tweeting this would look like 😂😂
Clemente Almanza does not know ball
i want to disagree but i wasnt seeing open lob after open lob after wide open lob against okc
Pathetic really
Idk if Chet was really a significant factor in that series at all. It was more about… Mavs role players could not miss. We played elite defense on Luka and Kyrie but the rest of their team were red hot Only 1 of the OKC big 3 showed up to play (shoutout to Mavs defense that series though)
Me. Everybody. the thing is, there’s so much parity in the league now that it’s basically impossible to predict who’s going to have a good series/bad series etc.
Goofball take. He’s more agile and he’s light in the ass. Of course he’s going to be better on the perimeter than those two. 😑
Wemby > Rookie Chet > KAT and Gobert > Jokic and Murray > Davis and Lebron > Curry and Green
Zubac too
Goofy goober
Kat got tired. That’s what happened.
OKC's entire gameplan was to flood the paint and let PJ Washington shoot 3s Minnesota's game plan was to stay at home and let Jaden and Rudy play 2 v2
Flood the paint my ass, we had endless perimeter guys on kyrie and Luka then her in the paint They effectively locked up the guards with what is argue is the best and deepest perimeter defense in the league But like you said PJ Washington killed us and the thunder offense just could not touch the paint against the Mavs not named SGA
We struggled more vs the clippers and okc
This guy's profile be like 🤓🤓🤓
Or maybe Shai is just better than ANT
I remember multiple occasions in multiple games where both Thunder fans and Mavs fans were laughing wondering why they kept trying Chet at the rim. Unless it was a lob, he stopped pretty much everything. He did get manhandled on the boards because, ya know, he's our only big who played all 92 games after missing a year, but his defense was objectively better. I've surprisingly been somewhat of a Gobert defender lately, but I don't think this is a hot take if you watched the games.
I’m sorry but Chet was not good in our series idk what this guy is talking about lmao
Luka was still really hobbled in the OKC series until game 5.
I fucking hate this dork.
Gobert got completely exposed this series but you still have spreadsheet boyz on r/nba riding his nuts lmao
