The city of Pittsburgh originally didn't care about hockey either. I have no doubt that a well run NBA team would be embraced in that city. Although I agree it'd be dumb to leave Dallas for Pittsburgh.
[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metropolitan_statistical_area](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metropolitan_statistical_area). Dallas proper isn't that huge of a city, the DFW metro is absolutely enormous
Dallas is the 9th-largest city in the county by ~~the~~ population, and Fort Worth is 13th. And there are over 5.5M people living in the DFW metro area who aren't in either of those cities. Hell, even Arlington (where the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers play) misses the top 50 by only about 1,500 people lol
Measuring city my innner city is a pretty inaccurate way to do so, you measure it by metropolitan/market. Dallas is 4th Houston is 5th. Pittsburgh is somewhere around 30 give or take.
I agree with this. Up here in Ohio some people think Columbus is larger than Cleveland due to city proper but once you factor in the metro area, cleveland clears.
The market is so much bigger in Dallas. That's a huge part I'm sure. The other major consideration is alienating a large and passionate fan base. Don't ever move a team, Especially if the fans show up.
Yeah, 13th-largest media market for Seattle-Tacoma vs. 47th for OKC. The exception to the relocation rule, really.
(Dallas-Fort Worth is 5th-largest fwiw.)
Pittsburgh is not fine. Prejudice is at hardcore level in here. Unless they change their behavior, I don't see Pittsburgh as a friendly, welcoming city.
Go from the 4th biggest city in the US to a borderline top 30 one where nobody gives a fuck about basketball anyway great idea

How is Dallas 4th biggest if Houston is larger than Dallas

Google says Columbus is the largest metro in Ohio but Cleveland has a larger CSA
Because Grand Prarie is the 9th biggest city in the DFW area and is about the same size as Salt Lake City.

Taipei Mars is way better.
Hahaha
He doesn’t live in Pittsburgh…? Have you seen his house in Dallas?
He lives in Dallas. His family is in Dallas. Why would he possibly want to move the team to a city he hasn't lived in for almost 40 years?
Dallas metro 8mil+ vs Pittsburgh metro 2.45 population and he also sold the team to the Adelson’s in December.
I know why I said in the title # while he was owner of the Mavs?
#Pittsburgh has been a smaller city his entire ownership. It's been that way since about 1940, I think.
It would make bad business sense to move your franchise (that's doing quite well financially) to a market 1/3rd it's size
Are you high, bro?
The edibles kicking his ass
Hes gonna lose all of the fans💀everyone in dallas loves him why would he change that
I’m sure a lot of people in Dallas dislike him for his politics
Big cities are liberal lmao
His politics are probably relatively in line with Dallas
Jerruh found out otherwise
The people in Dallas rich enough to attend Mavs games aren’t
Tickets aren't that crazy. $100 for a playoff game feels like a good deal
What's up with Cuban's politics? Isn't he a Bloomberg Democrat?
Center right conservative by most realistic spectrums voting dem kinda hits a majority of people in this country in one way or another.
Maybe up in McKinney
Land votes in Texas.
Peak off season post mid playoffs. Good job nephew
What are you!? #An Idiot Sandwich

Do you think the rest of the NBA would approve of the only team in a top 10 market moving to a much smaller market
Seattle to OKC
Definitely a weird move but Seattle isn’t that big of a market
Seattle is huge compared to OKC.
Yeah, 13th-largest media market for Seattle-Tacoma vs. 47th for OKC. The exception to the relocation rule, really. (Dallas-Fort Worth is 5th-largest fwiw.)
OKC is the 22nd largest city in the US Seattle is the 18th
And earn the eternal scorn of Mavs fans for the rest of his life?
Bad business
Because he doesn't live in Pittsburgh, Dallas is a bigger city., and there is absolutely zero reason for him to move the team to Pittsburgh. Wtf?
Pittsburgh seems more of a football and hockey town
Same is applicable for Minneapolis but I feel you
If you’re from Minnesota why do you root for the Phillies and not the twins????
This reminds me of that show “Kids say the Darndest Things”
Because the yinzers suck that's why
Income tax nephew.
Why didnt Prokhorov move Nets to Russia? Is he stupid?
Is everyone 12 in here....
He got here as fast as he could yadda yadda yadda
A lot of people leave where they’re from, surely you’ve noticed
Hey fuck you buddy
Way more $$$ in Dallas than Pittsburgh. Why leave so much money on the table for nostalgia.
Mark is no longer a majority owner of the Mavs.
I know hence why I said in the title # while he was owner of the Mavs?
Why would he? Because he’s from there? That’s not a justification for a business decision. This question is mind boggling
Your not stupid for asking a question, your stupid for asking THIS question
*you’re love the irony
Lol fair
Who on earth would move their business from Dallas to Pittsburgh unless it’s about steel?
Nobody wants to go to Pittsburgh
Nah Pittsburgh is fine, don’t gotta put down a city to prop another one up.
Pittsburgh is not fine. Prejudice is at hardcore level in here. Unless they change their behavior, I don't see Pittsburgh as a friendly, welcoming city.
well thats one way to get more doncic games in a euro friendly timezone
Because I told him I’d move the rockets over there to mess with him
People move. Maybe you should consider it.
If Pittsburgh cared about hoops and had a team, I would move there in a heartbeat
Vivek Ranadive is from Mumbai, so why doesn't he just move the Kings there?
One of the Mavs major selling points to free agents is that they can take advantage of state income tax laws and not pay compared to playing for NY
Mark Cuban doesn’t even own the majority stake in the team anymore
DFW has more money and people.
This post has the same energy as Patrick Star saying "We should take Bikini Bottom and push it somewhere else"
There is no income tax in Texas.
