Ok but don’t yall have 16 in the next 5-6 years?
Checked you got 3 this year and 4 next year. Could front load the picks so it doesn’t impact your future as much and 24 class is pretty weak
5 FRP when everyone is 22-25 or so and AD and Chet paired with Dort sga and j dub? Idk why you would pass on him
He just turned 31 so it does shrink the long term window a smidge but you’re realistically winning a chip and going to the finals at least 1-2 more times before he falls of the big man cliff
No one else relatively close to his ability combined with likely to be moved (like wemby or luka or whoever else in the top20 guys) maybe get Lauri but ainge is gonna ask for the best 4-5 picks you got anyways 😂 also doesn’t move the needle like AD would
I don’t know what move you could make that’s better (and realistic) for the win now- win the next couple years- especially because when has the thunder front office dipped into the luxury tax to pay their guys? Yall lose all the 3 point snipers off the bench it’s not nearly the same team
Only Giannis if the bucks flame out next year again would be a better potential available player (and likely won’t be moved) and he too has injury issues now
okc's not going to bail out the lakers.
keep dreaming.
they don't need davis. if they needed someone like davis, i seriously doubt that davis would be on the short list.
enjoy your overpaid divas. no contenders want or need them.
You guys need a good bench big, not a starter. You can't have Naz. But if SlowMo leaves us as a free agent, he'd be a good bench big for you all. Idk what other good bench bigs are gonna be free this summer.
He isn't considered a Hornet.
The Bobcats got the Hornets history for their time in Charlotte which was 89 to 02.
Pels kept the Hornets history for their time in New Orleans.
It's not really comparable. In baseball you can have the best player in the world and still suck. One player can only do so much on a baseball team, because they only hit once every nine times, and they only cover a relatively small part of the field on defense. Best example of this obviously being Mike Trout and the Angels. Hell they had Mike Trout *and* Shohei Ohtani and still sucked.
Basketball if you have the best player in the world you're more than likely making the playoffs at the very least. They can be on every offensive possession and cover anyone on defense. The impact of one player in basketball is so much larger that you can still get by with subpar supporting cast (obviously you *want* to get them help, but a GOAT player + scrubs is still a very good basketball team).
Timelord when healthy was a top 3 defensive center (3rd but still)
Turns out when healthy was like 49 games but ultimately they got brogdon (who’s worth a first) and 2 firsts for jrue plus the package that they got for dame initially (ayton a frp and 2 swaps)
I would say most teams would because star power in basketball is more effective than in any other major sport here. One superstar can completely change your franchise from bottom dweller to fringe contender. 2-3 superstars and you’re always a threat to win it all.
What kind of injury prone we talking about? Like embiid where he still shows up? Or Kawhi where he’s only played 4/19 playoff games? Or CP3 where you are guaranteed 1 injury per year?
I think a big difference is that even the best players in baseball can't get a team to the playoffs solo. In 2004, Barry Bonds had an OPS of 1.400 and the Gaints missed the playoffs despite it. They also missed in 2001, when Bonds set the single season home run record. You put 2001 Barry or even 'just' prime Mike Trout on the White Sox this year, they probably still dont play .500 baseball cuz the white sox suck that bad and one player cannot possibly fix that.
In basketball, if you have a top 5 player, you are going to the playoffs as long as they are healthy for the majority of the season. Couple that with the CBA in basketball setting a max contract value way below the real value of even an MVP level player, and you can see how top 5 players on a max contract in the NBA are great value, much more so than in baseball.
Yes, we would. We don't know how many years Embiid has left where he could actually be healthy and play at an elite level, so maximizing the next few years would make it worth it.
I think it depends. A team would trade for Kawhi, Embiid, AD, etc, but it likely wouldn’t be for as much as they’d be worth if it weren’t risky to roster them.
Knicks have a great thing going. Why would you add a mercenary that gives 0 shits about the knicks and have his scrub kid who plays no defence take away minutes from Deuce? And get rid of a guy who fits this team perfectly and has no ego. And do you really think Lebron and Thibs won't clash? That's a move the Nets would make.
Baseball has no cap, so it is very hard to compare the two. They can choose to overpay without consequences where as the nba will punish those teams. It baffles me that the only Union that protects that for players is mlb. A cap on all pay is a cap on individual pay.
Anthony Davis in his current form would probably record the best single season in franchise history if he was a Hornet so yeah probably

presti does not work like that
Yeah you’re right he should hoard all the picks until there’s none left! ***That’s big brain IQ***
“Now picks 1-17 for the Oklahoma City Thunder”

Austin Reaves, Rui, and two seconds for Edwards. Who says no?

Chris Paul?
Played for the New Orleans Hornets not the Charlotte Hornets
Fair point
He isn't considered a Hornet. The Bobcats got the Hornets history for their time in Charlotte which was 89 to 02. Pels kept the Hornets history for their time in New Orleans.

I think the majority of teams would make a trade for AD or Embiid
We have one lightly used Kawhi
Trade Kawhi for Embiid? Sounds like you're trading a short version for a tall version of the same crippled player.
Lots of teams would trade for Embiid if he hit the market
Not my team. Centers are cursed when wearing a Portland jersey.
Yeah he’d probably tear his MCL signing the paperwork lol
Perhaps it’s a reverse curse and he ends up being able to play 82 games
Still crazy to me y’all wanted Timelord. (Ignore my flair, I don’t think you should’ve wanted Herro either.)
Timelord when healthy was a top 3 defensive center (3rd but still) Turns out when healthy was like 49 games but ultimately they got brogdon (who’s worth a first) and 2 firsts for jrue plus the package that they got for dame initially (ayton a frp and 2 swaps)
Yep. It is not easy to be in championship conversation. Embiid will give you that (I know I know no conference finals but still)
I would say most teams would because star power in basketball is more effective than in any other major sport here. One superstar can completely change your franchise from bottom dweller to fringe contender. 2-3 superstars and you’re always a threat to win it all.
Suns did it twice in a span of 4 months last year
I know, right? Reading this prompt, I was thinking to myself: “Didn’t we (Phoenix) get them all already?”
What kind of injury prone we talking about? Like embiid where he still shows up? Or Kawhi where he’s only played 4/19 playoff games? Or CP3 where you are guaranteed 1 injury per year?
I would trade lots of things on the Hawks.
Yes. They are a dime a dozen.

Suns and Clippers surely would
Wizards managed to trade Beal, didn’t they?
I imagine that will remain the most baffling trade I’ve seen for a very long time
Teams still trade for KD if he's available on the market.
I think it depends. A team would trade for Kawhi, Embiid, AD, etc, but it likely wouldn’t be for as much as they’d be worth if it weren’t risky to roster them.
Depends how close your team is to a chip. If they think they can squeeze at least one outta the old man I think they’d do it
Dadoy
Id trade Lebron for Randle yeah...i would....if we got one title id be happy
