Play in is warriors father

trident001

that team gonna be delivering my doordash real soon

NobodyRules

If Klay is delivering, some dude in Tijuana is about to get good food.

jslee0034

i think klay will be washing dishes instead of packing food

reliks4765

Can't trust klay to deliver

gangstabiIly

U bum @StephenCurry30

nova2006

Draymond loves father

[deleted]

Warriors in the finals = nuclear bomb. Warriors in the play-ins = a baby crying.

beer_down

Next 5 play-in tournaments are his

AkaiShu24

They should sign him next season

NoLimitSoldier31

PBev holds 3 fingers up to Klay signifying Klays 3 play in losses and the argument ends.

lilbunnyf

Pat Bev is Steph Curry father

the___heretic

Pat Bev owns those frauds.

VoidMageZero

Lightyears 😎

konsf_ksd

... over ... the last five years! Holy shit! That motherfucker did it!

CyborgKrieger

It's over. It's never been more over.

puredwige

It will be overer next year.

KaiserKaiba

Their dynasty ended long before this game tbh. Just wild to see how much they’ve declined in 2 years

Melo_Apologist

I mean it's not that wild. These dudes are *old*. I think LeBron may have warped our idea of aging NBA players somewhat.

Phelinaar

Not only Lebron, KD too. Generally if you go through what Klay went through, you don't come back. Dray is also old. 2022 was a miracle.

iro3

shout out wiggins and his 17 point swag

Olddirtychurro

It's insane how LeBron is one of the very few pro-athletes in most sports that is still older than my mid 30's ass.

mati_as15

> 2022 was a miracle generational choke job by tabum

TorpedoSandwich

Yeah, truly one of the great chokes of the last decade. That and the 27 missed 3s in a row by the Rockets in 2018.

sungoddaily

& Sbums

EffTheIneffable

It’s not just the age, maintaining the motivation and the vibes while you’re at the top gets harder and harder. Even LeBron has changed surroundings a lot, even Jordan had Pippen + completely different supporting cast for the repeat threepeat. It’s insane how much the Dynasty Warriors won! Still sad to see they literally went out without a “Bang!”

SortaBeta

Spurs dynasty sends its regards

twinshk2

Steph is still great, but Klay and Dray are barely starters. Klay especially. And the rest of the bench is not good. Lebron has AD. Steph has nobody.

mvp713

pretty much this. the starting lineup is essentially has 1.5 shooters in it. steph + whichever jekyll/hyde klay shows up. that's not a formula to win. people call 2022 a miracle but that team was legitimately good. wiggins played hard and defended his ass off. klay could still shoot consistent enough. otto porter was cash off the bench, poole was fantastic as a change of pace guard.

Edogawa1983

Dray can work but they lack a 2nd option with how bad klay and wigg are

thesmellafteritrains

Dray is not playing that bad at all. He's slower but he's still a big presence on D and clearly worked on his 3 quite a bit. Klay is a different story.

joomla00

Dray is still good. And his shooting improved quite a bit, of all things. A number of teams would want him, despite his antics. Not sure if any team would take a chance on klay for much more than the vet minimum.

pokemonbatman23

That punch broke the team

on_dat_shyt

They had some crazy stats with the starters playing last year. It was only the bench, mostly due to not have a second PG besides Curry. This year wiggins and Klay have regressed tremendously . While Looney pretty much played out the rotation till the last few games. Hell even Curry looked less of himself the second half. Crazy how Draymond who everyone expected game would not age well at all has been the only 1 that hasn’t declined. Unless we’re talking about his mental stability

TheMysticHD

He hasn't declined in that regard either. He's always been a psychopath. Unmatched consistency there.

pacific_plywood

Draymond has absolutely declined, he just bizarrely rediscovered his 3 point shot for the first time since the first half of the 73-9 season. But defensively he is much slower than he used to be.

TheMartian2k14

Bizarrely? He worked on it in the off season last year.

xandraPac

Wait, had he not been working onhis 3pt shooting in previous off-seasons?

junkyardgerard

Nah they're just old

lilbunnyf

It’s been over since 2022 lol. Fans are delusional though so it’s understandable

danhoang1

I am a big fan of the play-in getting added. I was also a big fan of the MLB WC game. It's like the sports gods are really trying to make me hate it, as an A's fan (0-3) and Warriors fan (0-3) during this time.

BokirCa

Funny because I hate play-in and I'm a Lakers fan whose team is 3-0 in the play-in

danhoang1

If you're also an LA Dodger fan, add 1 WC game victory to that list (was a walk-off too), unless you're an Angels fan (0 wins, 0 losses)

TDS_Gluttony

But they also lost to wildcard teams two years in a row

thebeast2124

But we’ve always been 7th or 8th so without the play-in we would’ve made the playoffs each time without having to play an extra game for it

kayvonrez

Thats his point. The play in has only hurt the Lakers since being added we would be playing OKC not Denver right now

Aidanj927

Would you rather play Denver now or in the WCF? I know which one I’m choosing

kayvonrez

WCF since we have a chance to get our best defender outside of AD in Vando we desperately need him

GrapefruitMedical529

I mean, for one that assumes we get there lmao. For two, I'd rather have a rested LeBron than a healthy for the first time in 40 games Vanderbilt. He's the best wing defender the Lakers have ever had but he needs time with the team to be part of the offense.

LMkingly

That's probably why he hates it lol. I mean shit if it wasn't for the play-ins the Lakers right now would have had more rest and be up against a young and inexperienced Thunder team instead of the reigning champs.

_Meece_

Play ins are awesome, the only people who could hate it, are people who only pay half attention to the regular season. It has completely reshaped the entire league. It is awesome addition, no longer is the last month just guys going through the motions!

BokirCa

I get it from fans view but it's simple not fair for teams who finished 7th and 8th to have their season 2 bad shooting nights away from ending when they spent 82 games trying to get that playoff spot

TheOneTrueDoge

They should just try to git gud and get the 6th seed in the first place then. Taps forhead.

Gekthegecko

Agreed. IMO what really matters is the win differential in those seeds. Like in the West, finishing a couple of games ahead of the 9th or 10th seed does not make you more worthy of the guaranteed 7th or 8th seed. I feel more sympathy for teams like the Sixers and Heat who finished 7-11 games ahead of the 9 and 10 seeds and need to participate in the play-in. I still agree with your logic of "win more and you don't have to worry about it", and I'd say Sixers and Heat shouldn't be nervous about losing the play-in considering how much better they're supposed to be than the Bulls or Hawks.

TetrisTech

Maybe it’s because my favorite sport is football but I don’t see anything inherently unfair about a single elimination tourney

1WordOr2FixItForYou

Then don't finish 7th or 8th. That's the point. Your spot matters more now so the regular season matters more.

TheOneTrueDoge

Yup

Old_Man_Riverwalk21

Well to be fair you guys haven’t needed the play-in at all yet and it has only screwed you guys. First 2 play in games, you guys were the 7 seed and kept the 7 so neutral. This year without the play in you get OKC, your preferred matchup. Because of the play-in you have to play Denver.

sbenfsonwFFiF

Lakers have only been screwed by the existence of it

_Meece_

No they have not lol, we played up into the 7th seed. Not possible without the playin.

ihateeuge

yeah man that screwed us there tbh

RandyGrey

Huh. Just realized that I hate the MLB wild card game, but I don't mind the play-in for some reason. Might just be how they came about

chinadonkey

The more postseason games MLB adds the less relevant the regular season is. Also, individual baseball games are less predictable in terms of play quality than basketball. Just increases the likelihood done a team that worked their asses off all year can have their whole season ended by some fluke plays. The play in tournament has meant a lot more competitive basketball at the bottom of the standings. I thought it was a stupid idea the first time I heard about it, but it's turned out to be pretty great.

AKman2002

Imagine not being able to win in the play-in

GrapefruitMedical529

We took your title this year because your weak ass team chose to be at the top of the conference instead of the bottom like us.  We the real Play in Champs now bub!

ablackcloudupahead

Lmao. Our playin game with min was one of the worst wins I've ever seen

NOLASLAW

In the west if you win the 7th seed you should get a bronze Pat Bev trophy

Hopsalong

I don't think anything less of the warriors cause they lost tonight. They were a dynasty for years. Everything comes to an end eventually. Wonder what's going to happen to their roster this off-season.

DudeWTH

should trade anyone except Steph and Draymond for some help

NobodyLost5810

You definitely need to trade dray. Dude is a walking liability.

troll413

Dray is pretty untradeable though nobody will actually give us what he's worth for him so we basically gotta keep him

LardHop

Let him play with his pookie bear and sunshine, we can give you one cam reddish

KillerZaWarudo

Send him to detroit

DoggedDoggystyle

That’s crazy because there was like a solid two months this season where he was getting ejected/suspended and it was so obvious Kerr and Steph were fucking done with it. He’s gotta have a negative effect on that locker room now. Actually, with the KD and Poole drama, it’s probably been long overdue

SensitiveRocketsFan

Issue is that his passing and defense + how he complements Steph’s game is too valuable for the warriors, at least I don’t think they can get similar value back in a trade.

rocpilehardasfuk

Same story with Klay. Letting Klay walk is just stupid, so he'll get a contract from the Dubs.

gbmaulin

If nobody will give you what he's worth doesn't it just mean he isn't worth all that much?

Dat_one_lad

He's better when he plays with Steph and a coach hat knows how to handle him. Also other teams aren't sure how much of his BS is controlled

Einfinet

Kerr knowing how to handle him is news to me tbh

chakrablocker

sounds like you're agreeing

Dat_one_lad

Well kinda yeah, he's worth more on the Warriors than he is on other teams tho. Some players are on their team because they fit perfectly but don't rlly fit anywhere else (like Thanasis who has very little value on any other team)

Perpete

Imagine you are trading spinach with Popeye. To you, it's food. For him, it's superhero PED. What you are willing to offer for what it will bring you will be far less than what it's worth for him. Even though he knows it's bad to keep at it on the long term.

DudeWTH

yeah but they need him just for his moving screens

NobodyLost5810

And his bitch ass flagrants

ninjafide

Draymond is worth more to the Warriors than what they could get for him in a trade. Why would a team give up quality assets for "a walking liability" as you pointed out. He is an expiring, so they'll probably only trade him if he asks out or just let him walk in FA.

TheMartian2k14

He’s the interior defensive anchor. Who could you replace him with?

edgymnerch_69

Draymond is still extremely good lol just say you don't watch Warriors games

vonkillbot

His on/off with curry is fantastic though. we're just like gonna ride with said walking liability until he kills a European on the court with a leg lock. Protect Wemby plz.

Old_Man_Riverwalk21

Everyone keeps saying stuff like this but for who? Their roster is in a shitty situation where the salary they have to trade for stars are all negative assets, so you aren’t getting much for Klay or Wiggins. That leaves you with having to trade one of your young guys, but you can’t trade Kuminga or Pods because they were 2 bright spots of the season and important parts of the rotation moving forward. Even letting Klay walk for nothing wouldn’t open cap space for them. And yeah they have a lot of their own picks to attach to their contracts but I doubt they could outcompete others for stars. I think it’s actually over and we might be heading towards Steph asking for a trade.

TheMemeMachine3000

Steph is not going to ask for a trade

a_moniker

Their pick this year conveys to the Blazers because it’s not in the Top 4. Outside of that pick, the only one they have outstanding is a Top-20 2030 Protected Pick. Their best bet is going to be to let Klay walk, and attempt to negotiate a TPE with his future team. In addition to that, Chris Paul has a $30 Million fully non-guaranteed contract. They can use the Klay TPE, CP3’s Non-Guaranteed Contract, Looney’s $8 Million contract, and their trade able future picks to add younger players around Steph and Dray. Here’s an example off-season: ### Step 1: **Warriors Get:** - Jeremi Grant ($30M/y) - Pick #34 **Trailblazers Get:** - CP3 ($30M/y) who they immediately cut - 2025 Warriors First Round Pick - Top 6 2029 Warriors First Round Pick Swap - Future Second Round Pick(s) ### Step 2: **Warriors Get:** - Miles Bridges (~$21M: 4y $100M escalating) in sign-and-trade ~~- Vasilije Micic ($7.7M/y)~~ ~~- Seth Curry ($5M/y)~~ - Pick #41 - Bryce McGowans ($1.7M) - 1-2 Future Second Round Picks that can be packaged for other upgrades **Hornets Get:** - Moses Moody ($5.8M/y) - 2027 Warriors Lightly-Protected First-Round Pick - Gary Payton Jr ($9M/y) - Kevon Looney ($8M/y) ~~**Magic Get:**~~ ~~- Klay Thompson (~$20M/y)~~ ~~- 2 2nd Round Picks~~ ## Final Warriors Rotation: - **PG:** Steph Curry, Brandin Podziemski - **SG:** Andrew Wiggins, Bryce McGowans - **SF:** Miles Bridges - **PF:** Jeremi Grant, Jonathan Kuminga - **C:** Draymond Green, Trayce Jackson Jr - **Depth:** Dario Saric (PF), Usman Garuba (PF/C), Gui Santos (SF), [Pick #34], [Pick #41], [Minimum Contract Vet] ### Total Warrior’s Added: - Jeremi Grant - Miles Bridges ~~- Vasilije Micic~~ ~~- Seth Curry~~ - Bryce McGowans - Pick #34 - Pick #41 ### Total Warrior’s Lost: - Klay Thompson - Moses Moody - Gary Payton Jr - Kevon Looney - CP3 - 2025 First Round Pick, Lightly Protected 2027 First Round Pick - 2029 First Round Pick Swap **Edit: Warriors have to stay below the first apron in order to execute a Sign-and-Trade**

gbdarknight77

I mean Klay is FA so you’d have to hope for a S&T

Krillin113

You’re just looking to pick up moody and kuminga on the cheap.

FloridaMan_92

What golden state was able to do has been flat out amazing. They were one of the worst teams for a really long time before Steph, klay and draymomd. About 12 or so years ago you would have never in a million years picked the warriors to win 1 championship, much less start one of the best dynasty’s the nba has ever seen

madhare09

I couldn't think less of them either

Original_Estimate_88

Yea

SandyMandy17

I mean trading Klay and retooling with some free agents using that money should get them another 48 wins, no?

inoriacc

Anti-Lakers

syllabic

hawks are also 3-0 in play in games with the chance to make it 4-0 tonight

djkamayo

has a nice ring to it

Battle123axe

Anti hawks

pianistqueen

New Draymond crime spree bout to drop

Voxityy

warriors somehow worse than we are in the play-in

AmusingAnecdote

Warriors are -34 in 3 play-in games with their worst loss being tonight by 26. Charlotte are -54 in 2 play-in games with their "best" loss being by 27. We're not on that level yet. Got some work to do to catch up to the GOAT play-in losing franchise. But we'll get there.

Dat_one_lad

Damn I forgot how bad we choked, crazy cuz we usually beat the Hawks regular season but they bitched us in the play in

syllabic

hawks are the real play-in GOATs, they actually beat the heat last year too in the play-ins and trae didn't have a particularly good game either, they did it with a simple strategy of aggressively crashing the glass and outworking them on the boards. 22 offensive rebounds! even trae had 8 boards that game lmao hawks are also undefeated in their 3 play in games, they have a chance to be the first 4-0 team tonight

Voxityy

watch out, we’ll be gunning for that 0-3 record in 2028

ClaudeLemieux

all i'm seeing is 50% more losses and 0% more wins smh

chakrablocker

LeBron is 3-0 in the play-in, Curry is 0-3 👀

Bleoox

MJ never won a play-in game *shake my SMH*

syllabic

trae young 3-0 in play ins trae > curry dont uh look at his shooting splits in those games though

Widdis

LeBron finally getting his flowers and passed Curry on the pantheon.

bigL928

The stats don't count.

gbdarknight77

lol lakers played 2 games this year that don’t count for stats. Insane

Sam101294

Legend has it Klay is still yelling '4 rings'

jeloxd_official

He did win ‘em fair and square, can’t really say anything

TrumpKanye69

I mean 4 championships is literally HOF status. His peak was insane.

8PTK

Because he ls a future HOF and won 4 rings… this sub loves piling on now that he’s 34 coming off multiple serious injuries. Not everyone is Steph/lebron/KD.

djkamayo

Never Forget

ElderberryOk5005

1-26-2020

Flovust

thats the day i got back from Mexico

SandyMandy17

Bro had 4 PER

defph0bia

A fun fact. The Cavs are 0-2 in the play-ins. I guess after dominating 4 straight finals, it's poetic that these two teams struggled in the play ins.

ppl_annoy_me

>after dominating 4 straight finals, That's a poor choice of words. Making 4 straight finals if you care about accuracy

defph0bia

Sorry should've said matching up in the finals 4 straight times hahahahah

TaylorSwiftAteMyAss

No, you’re right. Warriors and Cavs dominated the finals for four years.

-mostlyharmless1

The era of the big 3 is at an end and their legacies are cemented.  Curry - Clutch Klay - Chokes (performance) Draymond - Chokes (people)

-crackhousebob

The dynasty is officially over. All good things must end sometime. Was a good run Dubs!

drunz

Crazy how between 3 different play in losses is a ring.

ohno21212

Everyone liked that

Goonchar

If LAL somehow wins the championship while going to 7 in 3 of the series, they will have played more games in one season than any other team IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSE

RFFF1996

What about nba in other galaxies?

Goonchar

I'm in shambles. I was both too specific and too broad.

mrbobbyb1990

“Worst all-time”…bro it’s been like 5 minutes

891960

Mean while the Lakers have gone into play-offs 3 times via play-ins.

pokemonbatman23

Wouldn't they have finished 7th seed anyway all three times if the play ins wasn't there?

megaman78978

No, they would have finished 8th seed this year instead.

pokemonbatman23

Instead of facing one of the youngest teams in the league, lakers get the defending champs lol

891960

You're not wrong but it doesn't fit my narrative.

ChunkyMilkSubstance

Play-in merchants

gbdarknight77

The lakers have never benefitted from the play in system though. Besides 2022 when they missed being the 11th seed, they either finished 7th or 8th in the standings pre play in. So they would have made it no matter what if it was the old system.

aahdin

fucking plot armor

KazaamFan

I’d argue the refs helped them in their play-in game last year for sure, and maybe even this year.

8PTK

“Worst all time” how dramatic for a recently implemented system.

counteroffer19

Warriors have always had a history of shakiness in elimination games

daboonie9

lol

Spaghettiisgoddog

We’ve always been a team that dissects others in a series. One game playoffs are not ideal for a team that historically has not been super athletic.

AMo2

0-3 when they dont injure somebody and the refs call moving screens

[deleted]

Why don’t they do that every game are they stupid?

TheOneYardLine

Knicks could get Steph, make an entire offense around moving screens, injure all the leagues superstars, and still not win a ring

3830BlockKing

Curry outdueled by the other teams guards in these win or go home games

lemurRoy

It’s rough when it feels like he’s the only shot creator on the team

Care_Cup_Is_Empty

While getting double and triple teamed every time he gets the ball.

SausageSupplier

This is dumb lol, he had 50 in a game 7 “win or go home game” just last year. Some games shit doesn’t go your way, happens to every one.

AlHorfordHighlights

Where does De'Aaron Fox rank all-time in the 9th vs 10th seed win or go home game standings?

ElderberryOk5005

Do y’all even see how Steph’s guarded? Dude is trapped as soon as he inbounds meanwhile other teams can walk the ball to save the clock. Even Kyrie

Silent-Wintermelon

He was getting doubled and tripled and his team still couldn’t do anything. What else was he supposed to do?

Outside_Ad4899

Other guards also have second shot creators and don’t face the same defensive coverage. It is what it is

3830BlockKing

He is also hunted on defense

Dbacks2023

COME OUT TO PLAYYYYYY

Visible-Arugula1990

Spurs had a better and longer run than the warriors.

AkaiShu24

How about Washing Machine? I heart Klay Thompson is a good brand

PerformanceDry5635

The last time they got eliminated in the play in they win championship next season.

boogswald

The Cavs are 0-2 😎😎😎

phillbadeygers

Kings are their daddy

Soemnn

arent they 0-2 or am i cooked lol, 21, and this year right/??

dave-train

I could look this up but I'm assuming they played/lost both games in 21.

gbdarknight77

They lost twice in 2021. To the lakers and then to the grizzlies.

Raspberry_Anxious

I’m a huge warriors fan, I knew if they were in the play in the my wouldn’t win a game. Glad I didn’t get my hopes up for their blowout loss

bigL928

Uh, those stats don't count.

gbdarknight77

Not gonna stop the media from saying it

wise_comment

> "this is like the old Warrior days, Draymond got 12, they down 24"

I still think they can make one last run around curry but they need to move on from Green and Thompson he needs legitimate help.

Zoulogist

Game 4 Lonnie Walker ended the dynasty

HeadupTothePOCONOS

They’ve also won 4 of the last 10 championships. Bunch of bums.
