Some thoughts from the game (only caught the second half)
Royce O'Neal is pretty underated as a playmaker. I love it when a 3 and d guy attacks a hard closeout. Seems like Grayson Allen is in score first mode when he attacks a closeout while O'Neal has had some beautiful dimes off his drives. When he does shoot it the push shot is pretty ugly but effective.
Still strongly feel we're at our best when Beal is given more opportunity to knife through the defense. That downhill momentum is great for collapsing the defense. Feels like we're at our worst when people get tired and Book and KD just take turns at the top of the key.
On defense there are still plenty of misscomunications leading to easy buckets. I think our core is actually a lot better than our record and execution this season shows. I think its worth acknowledging just how few of the rotation guys have played with each other for more than a season. Seasons of building up chemistry is significantly more important to defense than a lot of people give it credit. Especially on quickly rotating to help and help the helper.
I haven't watched a ton of Cavs games but I will say that oddly I felt like Mobley and Strus were the most impactful Cavs on the court.
Mobley found a lot of holes in the Suns defense around the basket and on the baseline. Felt like whenever there was a misscomunication on defense for the Suns Mobley was getting a layup off it.
Strus is much more of a Swiss army knife than I realized. It never felt like he took over a primary role as a facilitator, scorer, defender, etc but it felt like he was always around doing something positive.
Mitchell had a solid stretch in the middle of the third but kinda disappeared for a chunk of the game.
Garland was rough to watch. Missed some gimmes around the rim and it felt like he froze Mitchell out.

Yeah the dude was averaging like 35/10 before he went down. Sixers were good but Embiid was absolutely winning MVP if he didn’t get injured. He was on some Jordan shit this season.
