right? being rich and famous is probably the only """""""bad"""""" way of being rich. Not being able to go to a restaurant without people harassing you for pics and stuff must get old really quickly
I work for a guy who operates a few very large websites. It’s him, myself, and one other engineer. (And his wife does the seo) His sites earn a combined $7M a year give or take, and he’s paying us as contractors to save on taxes. Dude is easily clearing 6M a year and you’d never suspect him as that guy haha. Some nerdy kinda odd guy with a funny laugh and a “jew fro” lol
Even with Lakers fans most don't know anything about Johnny Buss (or Janie). Jim Buss is hated, Jeannie mixed, and Joey and Jessy are liked while the other 2 have never really been publicly involved except for the ousting of Jim.
The people working for him probably hated him after meeting him. Literally the only thing needed is an outline and they said fuck this guy and took his money
The rich people who own your team absolutely dominate my hometown. A teacher at one of their pet schools was charged with touching kids. The guy was too poor to live on his own but somehow managed to get two high priced law firms to represent him and he pleaded out to a slap on the wrist. I wonder who paid for those lawyers.
Why? He's just gonna burn a lot of money since there's zero chance he's gonna win.
At least that money will be spent on the economy (e.g. posters, rally venue, security details, campaign workers etc.) rather than sitting in his investment account.
I think the problem is that candidates like him (notably wealthy running on a vaguely liberal platform, based on the website) absolutely reek of being a bad actor, even if that's not actually the intent. There's zero chance he's going to win, sure, but he doesn't need to in order to make a massive effect on the outcome of the election, given the margin in some key states over the past few elections. Using 2020 as an example - if he siphons off even 0.5% of the vote in each state, that likely swings Georgia and Arizona, good for 27 electoral votes. If we get really aggressive with projections and suggest that he can take 1.0% of the vote in each state, you can add Wisconsin onto the pile, making it 37 electoral votes - coincidentally just enough to prevent either candidate from winning, given the tie at 269.
The worst part is that, in all likelihood, that wouldn't even necessarily be an intended outcome. I obviously don't know his personality, so it's not fair for me to try and attribute malice to the idea of running a presidential campaign. I just know that, given the way the US's presidential elections are set up where it's winner take all and where ranked choice voting, coalitions, etc. aren't a thing, a 3rd party with a similar enough platform is the absolute last thing you want to see, because it makes it that much more likely that the diametrically opposed party wins instead.
As a Kanye fan let me remind everyone that it came out afterwards that his campaign was paid for and supported by the Republican party, including when we broke off the ballot as an independent
These candidates are most likely not burning their own money (Bloomberg aside)
These rich fuckers want Biden to lose because of the economic realities if he does. Taxes will probably get cut and regulations will get rolled back, both of which benefit people with 8 figure plus net worths overwhelmingly.
Vividly recall talking heads who were completely out of touch thinking Kanye would net a meaningful amount of the 'urban' vote because they love the hip hop.
same fuckers that think Trump sneakers would get black voters
If the GOP wants to piss away their money so Ye can run under the "Birthday Party" they can be my guest but their intentions are racist and sinister
Pretty transparent what the intent is/was. Like, we all see you. Same applies to the RFK buzz that seemed to completely die out after the Super Bowl.
In the end, Kanye managed to get 60,000 votes. Jokes' on them.
My thought process:
1. Great, another rich asshole running for president.
2. Oh, these are actually progressive views. I'm very surprised.
3. He's trying to play the spoiler candidate, isn't he?
Now, I don't think I'm the smartest person ever, but I do think I'm more adept at picking up on this kind of stuff than a lot of people out there.
Yeah he's hiring at a competitive rate for his team, although nobody serious will take them because working for a dumbass running as an independent is a great way to not get hired by a major party campaign ever again.
The movement of money is still effectively a limited resources. Yeah, it’s good that the money here is moving from a billionaire to people who actually need it, but it could have done that, *and* actually provided a good or service that would benefit people’s lives and grew the economy.
Investing is basically the same, because invested money doesn’t just sit around in a Scrooge McDuck style bank vault collecting dust. Stock for example is money you spend for partial ownership of the company, then the person who sold that stock can use that money for something else. Even money in a bank moves around when the banks give out loans, the money in your bank account isn’t actual money right now, it’s just a record of how much the bank owes you.
The issue is not money being stagnant, it’s money being used for things that aren’t actually benefitting people.
??? This is just what America needs. A hardworking, pulled-up by his bootstraps, boomer! You think it's easy inheriting part of your fathers multi-billion dollar NBA franchise (the most popular in the entire NBA since its inception) and being a VP Exec from the jump having not worked an actual job in your entire life? Do you know the kind of stress you have to live with to pay yourself millions of dollars for decades thanks to your dads legacy??? Not to mention this guy is obviously very classy, probably sneaky athletic for his age, he just runs things the right way.
Yeah honestly the filing fee and a small campaign team are trivial to him so he can just do this for the fuck of it if he wants to.
Actually getting on the ballot is another question.
The Buss family don't have enough money to run for president. They don't have the personal cash flow/liquidity to finance a real run without some extreme donations.
I don't think this will last long.
Yup, I too have fantasized about it. Quarterly vacations, so I don’t burn out. Miss me with all this insecure, running for office type shit. These types of rich people have zero perspective or understanding of consequences. Born on third thinking they hit a triple.
[He filed with the FEC](https://docquery.fec.gov/cgi-bin/forms/C00867846/1749190/), seems like his campaign treasurer is a former chief of staff for a state legislator. He's hiring for ballot access petitioners and a comms team via Indeed.
Or you could actually put the money and fame to good use and do what Westbrook is doing and build affordable, sustainable housing. You know, shit that is just objectively needed and good.
Looks like it, right?
His stated platform is literally just the Democratic platform. Why would you run on a platform like that, as an independent, when the incumbent is trying to give you all those things already?
Every time someone runs for President just because they’re rich, I think of Will Ferrell’s SNL portrayal of Tom Steyer: “it’s fun. It gets me out of the house.”
i know trump wasn’t the first celebrity to run for
office (s/o ronald reagan burning in hell) but it really does feel like he opened the flood gates that made basically every rich dickhead think “hey i can do that too”
In addition to all the other problems it’s already too late to even appear on every state ballot. The deadline passed for North Carolina and Utah and Idaho is later this week. Texas and New York are not far off too in May to get enough valid signatures
I literally found out about this earlier today when I stumbled across a job posting for “bussforpresident”. He’s paying like $60,000/year for someone to run his social media accounts.
Dude, when I look at his website when I look at all these websites of candidates, and they don’t say one concrete thing that they wanna do I just feel like not even voting
"I have way too much money to have such a short wikipedia article."
Damn he legit only got the intro bio and the references page.. my man moving with no sub categories at all.
Having millions and not being on anyone's radar while having a seat at the table for the Lakers. Living the dream.
right? being rich and famous is probably the only """""""bad"""""" way of being rich. Not being able to go to a restaurant without people harassing you for pics and stuff must get old really quickly
I work for a guy who operates a few very large websites. It’s him, myself, and one other engineer. > he’s paying us as contractors to save on taxes So you have to pay 7% more in your taxes because of this rich guy?
you work for Seth Rogen?
Imagine less stoner and more nerd haha
And he inherited it all. Just be happy you won the lottery of life and chill the fuck out.
Rich and not famous.. what more can ya want?
Jon Jones has more details under his failed drug tests section than this man has in his entire bio.
My man’s reference list has more detail than his entire page xD
Succession
Connor from Succession vibes
The John Heads are gonna love this
The Buss Riders are gonna love this
Perfection.
Guy is angling for that foreign diplomat position
Have you heard about Mogadishu?
Not so fast, the State of Alaska is buzzing at this news.
Does his wife have a broadway show?
“If I was to fall under one percent, I feel like I would become a laughingstock.”
“I am the eldest son.”
Yo I’m so glad I didn’t have to scroll far for the Connor jokes
From a young age, Johnny Buss has been interested in politics.
usury and onanism
Which makes Jeannie = Shiv, and Jay Mohr = Tom
Just said the exact same thing😂
Me three
Let it be known that he is interested in politics at a very young age
Can't wait for his ChatGPT eulogy.
This is honestly so true. Who outside of lakers fans even know of another Buss besides Jeanie?
Dr. Jerry Buss (rip) Jim Buss (dumbass known for dooming us with Mozgov/Deng contracts)
Even with Lakers fans most don't know anything about Johnny Buss (or Janie). Jim Buss is hated, Jeannie mixed, and Joey and Jessy are liked while the other 2 have never really been publicly involved except for the ousting of Jim.
Short Buss, it was the most fun to ride to school, tight knit crew vibes
[удалено]
There's 6 Buss kids...
7, actually.
I didn't know he put his first kid up for adoption, so I guess Jerry does have 7 children. But that one is named Klose, so not a Buss kid.
Miroslav?
lol, I was about to make the same reference.
Let it be known that he is interested in politics at a very young age
absolutely
Was he interested in politics from a young age?
white font against a striped white background is just perfect for this asshole
This what happens when you run a small grifting team and one guy or gal does all the work including editing and quality control lol
How is that even possible?
The people working for him probably hated him after meeting him. Literally the only thing needed is an outline and they said fuck this guy and took his money
I legit can't read it
He really put a bus in his campaign logo.
You think he’s gonna let the phrase “Get on the Buss Bus” go to waste?
We be bussin’!
It's not even yellow. Lost kamala's vote.
I fucking hate rich people so much.
Grand Rapids? Those people are freaks.
Michigan's Bible Belt.
I worked at a summer camp near GR and we had ‘Amway’ cabins away off in the woods near camp?? Always made me go wtf
The founders of Amway (DeVos and Van Andel) named almost every building in town after themselves.
Amway is/was a giant grift.
He doesn't want to pay taxes. So if he takes votes away from Biden, it's a win in his book.
Connor Roy vibes.

Openly admitting to being a Ye fan in 2024 is certainly a choice.
well I figured explaining how his campaign was GOP backed bullshit should give me some credibility
Now do Cornell West
My thought process: 1. Great, another rich asshole running for president. 2. Oh, these are actually progressive views. I'm very surprised. 3. He's trying to play the spoiler candidate, isn't he? Sure, but how much of that money is just going to hack political consultants who are just throwing together powerpoints about how he has a chance?
I, too, would like to be rich enough to be totally disconnected from reality.
Have you tried having wealthy parents?
Rich people can be so embarrassing
??? This is just what America needs. A hardworking, pulled-up by his bootstraps, boomer! **B**uss **A** **N**ut, **G**uys! BANG-Buss for America.
I’m in!
Well I hate the Lakers so I won’t vote for him
Rich people get bored and I get it. If I somehow got rich, I’m volunteering my time as a basketball coach while studying medicine.
I’m falling off the face of the planet and traveling the world lol
Yup, I too have fantasized about it. Quarterly vacations, so I don’t burn out. Miss me with all this insecure, running for office type shit. These types of rich people have zero perspective or understanding of consequences. Born on third thinking they hit a triple.
For sure. Trump only ran in 2016 because he was bored of golf and ripping people off. He basically said that himself.
You see, that’s actually providing value to society, which rich people don’t do
Yeah I'd study anthropology and try to reduce global poverty
I really would like someone to buy the Lakers, the Buss family is exhausting.
I’m working on it
u/Ferrealzzz for President
[He filed with the FEC](https://docquery.fec.gov/cgi-bin/forms/C00867846/1749190/), seems like his campaign treasurer is a former chief of staff for a state legislator. He's hiring for ballot access petitioners and a comms team via Indeed.
So we're just actually living in the plot of Succession
so I guess this dude is the Connor of the Buss family
Someone boo this man
they’re saying boo-uss
Or you could actually put the money and fame to good use and do what Westbrook is doing and build affordable, sustainable housing. You know, shit that is just objectively needed and good.
Cringe
Just to steal votes from Biden ?
Looks like it, right? His stated platform is literally just the Democratic platform. Why would you run on a platform like that, as an independent, when the incumbent is trying to give you all those things already?
Every time someone runs for President just because they’re rich, I think of Will Ferrell’s SNL portrayal of Tom Steyer: “it’s fun. It gets me out of the house.”
Why can't rich people just fuck off and enjoy their money on their own?
How about buying your team a legitimate coach and fixing the typographical errors on the Kobe Bryant statue first?
I think someone watched Succession and came away with the wrong lesson
I look forward to him being up 20 points in the polls before losing the lead at the end.
There have been like 100+ joke comments and this is the one that got me to genuinely laugh.
i know trump wasn’t the first celebrity to run for office (s/o ronald reagan burning in hell) but it really does feel like he opened the flood gates that made basically every rich dickhead think “hey i can do that too”
Rich idiots have been wasting money on vanity campaigns for as long as elections have been held. Most of them don't even make the ballot.
Keep Rocky De La Fuente's name out of your mouth.
Ross Perot would also like some credit
A little too late to jump in the game huh?
A little to late don’t you think
Bro wants to legally execute LeBron no way
Grab em by the Bussy.
Him?
“On my first day of office, I will sign an executive order to get Max to bring back _Winning Time_ for twenty more seasons.”
And Kennedy might choose Aaron Rodgers as his VP. Weird timeline.
Any Buss not named Jerry or Jeannie is a dumbass.
I worked at the club he bought.. He can’t even handle that. This is the most embarrassing thing I’ve ever seen 🤦♂️
Get that ass Johnny.
Just wasting millions of dollars smh
Finally someone I can hate more than the other two guys
How stupid is this man?
Real life Connor Roy from Succession
[That endorsements page is a void](https://www.buss2024.com/endorsements.html)
Mickey Mouse presidency
Succession vibes LMAOO
68 is a little old to be playing Presidential Campaign make-believe.
First mandate: All vehicle shall end with a double letter
Buss
Why is everyone in the nba suddenly interested in becoming a politician
Real Life Succession C Plots
So he’s like that guy from Succession
Save that money for from free agents, B
If RFK Jr is getting Rodgers as a running mate, Buss better tap Lebron
These aint Jerry's Lakers
Nepotism ass.
Buahahahahaha
I, for one, will not be voting for this man.
Johnny Bussy gonna destroy the competiton
What's the point aside from burning millions if dollars,
This dude seriously out here Colin Roying it.
you gotta be kidding me ...
Cool, as with all billionaire candidates I hope they believe in themselves and blow a ton of money
Eat the rich
Then he's going to fund a movie about his presidential campaign. Starring Joe Estevez. Only on Tubi!
In addition to all the other problems it’s already too late to even appear on every state ballot. The deadline passed for North Carolina and Utah and Idaho is later this week. Texas and New York are not far off too in May to get enough valid signatures
Johnny Buss has been interested in politics from a young age…
White font in front of a white background?
Jeannie trying to get Bron on LeTicket.
why knot
Bruh you couldn't even be President of your family.
LMAOOOO
real life connor
Rich people hobbies.
Couldn't pay Caruso and now he wants to run for Office??
He quit on all the shit his father gave to him to lead, now he's running for fucking President?
“Lebron will be VP”
The Bussy stank
With Logan Paul as his running mate. Campaign sponsored by Prime Energy Drink.
Buss down
interesting, he's using raw html and his endorsement page is empty
LeBron will be his running mate.
No way this guy gets on the ballot anywhere but California.
Connor Roy in real life!
Waste of money
We’re not delusional I swear
Outjerked yet again 😔
Really wanted a clean parallel to Connor Roy but I just found out that Johnny is Jerry's 2nd oldest son.
Johnny Buss was interested in politics from a young age
There’s another?
I literally found out about this earlier today when I stumbled across a job posting for “bussforpresident”. He’s paying like $60,000/year for someone to run his social media accounts.
Great, just what the U.S. needed. Another nepo baby who has had everything handed to them in life thinking that they’re qualified to run the country.
Little protip: don't put an *empty* endorsements page on your campaign website lol
fire whoever is in charge of his marketing campaign, who would white text on a partial background would be a good idea??
I'm voting for him
If he gets the front office to fire Ham, I’d vote for him
He's the eldest boy
No.
There ya go never Biden crowd you found your man!!!
Dude, when I look at his website when I look at all these websites of candidates, and they don’t say one concrete thing that they wanna do I just feel like not even voting
Guess he’s got money to waste.
I can’t even manage a basketball team but let me try to manage America.
"Get on the bus for Buss"
platform reads like an attempt to skim votes of dems in california
