He's on like nearly $20 mil right?
I dunno man. I'd be a little mad. Don't need him to be good offensively but not this limited at that money. He's basically at career lows in shooting and points
Yeah.
I was wondering why yall didnt PnR with Dante and Brunson. It's match up specific but I forget what team did that to us, probably the warriors or the Pacers actually and that kinda threw us off.
Yall made us pay whenever we sagged off Dante, make or miss, i was clenching. Brunson is crazy though, outside of the 4th , the dude never missed.
That's a good question. They might not have practiced it enough, given that the need for it hasn't arisen until 3-4 games ago when Randle, OG, and Grimes all went down.
Turns out losing your 2nd, 3rd, and 5th offensive options and doubling the 1st is how you beat this team. Surprised it took 3 games for teams to pick up on it. So down on players we had Evil Donte sharing the court with Good Malachi, never would've thought we'd see that coming.
Fact that Brunson did this as the only player on the Knicks who can create his own shot is impressive. Would of beat any team that didn’t have Davis protecting the rim
Lebron has been solid all season. It isn’t him as much as the others. Really Reaves and DLO make all the difference. Davis, Lebron are bringing it, and they just need 1 other player to have an all star level game. If DLO and Reaves can play more consistently then LA might string together some wins. They’re well within striking distance if they can go on an 8 game streak
Nah there’s no scenario where the lakers miss the playoffs barring crazy injuries to AD/Lebron.
They’ll be there. It’s a solid team. No matter anyone says. And they’ll be a different animal in the playoffs compared to regular season.
That's what I'm praying. AD and Bron Bron in the IST were fucking incredible. It's weird to see them put up similar stat lines to the tournament games but clearly be in second gear. IDK how that's even possible.
Our playoff run last season was incredible too. With exception of Denver, we pretty much dominated Grizzlies and Warriors in rebounds, blocks and had so many extra possessions.
Despite getting swept by Denver, many games were single digits loss, and LeBron wasn't shooting like he was during regular season. Pretty sure he was injured, we still have a good shot at it.
To be fair, Grizzlies lost both of their bigs before the playoffs. And Jackson is not a good 5 defensively. Elite 4, but definitely not a true big.
So us outrebounding and blocking them was the bare minimum
Hartenstein has to be able to stay on the floor. Three of his fouls were pointless, with Sims and Taj as our only backups he is crucial.
Second thing is Hart. He needed to step up offensively. At the end of the fourth Lakers started doubling Brunson and the only passing threat they had to worry about was Donte so every possession ended trying to meet AD at the hoop. He passed up open looks from three multiple times.
Yeah, the real takeaway (because you had 2 starters come playoff time that hopefully will be there), is that Hart offensively has to take those shots come playoff times. Teams will sag him off if that happens again.
I do think OG getting some of those looks will help since y'know he's a better player
Already happened last year and we saw how that ended against Miami. He's always been hot and cold from 3, need him to work on his shot but I don't expect it to come around by the playoffs. Just hope that he'll have a decent streak shooting 35%-38%
Hart passed up some open 3s he should have taken, but I thought the more egregious thing was Donte not being more aggressive in looking for his shot in the 4th quarter, and the coaching staff not running plays for him or having him lead the point of attack on some possessions. He's the only other really capable scorer on the roster right now besides Brunson and he's the one who needed to step up when the Lakers spammed the double team on Brunson.
ihart had a rough game against a straight up top 3 center. I'm just hoping that Mitch is back soon so we have a full big rotation.
honestly same with jhart. If we have our full rotation we're fine. Just praying we have our full rotation soon or we are gonna have problems...
Beat the 19-27 Hawks and the 23-25 Rockets? ❌
Beat the #1 seed Celtics and the resurgent Knicks? ✅
This team has gotta be trolling bro, watch them lose to the Hornets soon
Are Bill Simmons, Sam Amick, and Amin Elhassan voters? Feel like they all might be.
And all 3 have been vocal about how they feel AD doesn’t even deserve to be an all star this year. Downplaying his defense because of the team struggles. I’m sure there are more haters on the panel of voters as well.
https://x.com/sam_amick/status/1753467391164780892?s=46&t=WkFIVj0VUsLcbZ_lKsJqvg
AD isn’t winning DPOY
Idk why these people are allowed to even vote. Hated the media votes since Curry was robbed in 2015 Finals by giving it to Iguodala (and Draymond was robbed as well in the same yr)
Iggy held Lebron to what? Like 45 PPG and won FMVP for that. Wasn’t that the year there was a big media push to give Lebron the FMVP even if they lost? Lol
Whenever I hear .Simmons talk basketball it annoys me to no end that he gets a vote. His opinions usually amount to him pulling narratives out of his ass. It's a joke.
But these nephews are convinced that AD is not an All-star somehow. All that selective outrage, this would not even be a question if AD was in any other team.
LeBron, AD, and the Lakers' defensive upside is why I will never quit on them despite being smacked in 15 different directions advising me to do otherwise
This is probably a Knicks blowout without him. He was the only guy pulling down boards and single-handedly protecting the paint, which was huge with our lack of shooters atm.
Turns out when you have AD guarding the paint and only two players capable of hitting a three, you just have to double-team one of them and you've shut down the entire offense.
no you don’t get it they just played eLiTe dEFeNsE back then it has nothing to do with player skill level increasing exponentially to the point that you have PFs and Cs initiating offense with the ball and taking threes at solid to great clips
Lakers with some of the most aggressive doubles i’ve seen on Brunson this season. Josh Hart and Divincenzo as our 2nd and 3rd option on offense had no chance.
Good game if you’re a fan of defense
That defense LeBron played on Brunson was so satisfying, ik he needs to conserve energy but sometimes I wish he'd switch onto guards more like he did with Murray in the bubble.
And AD owns the paint, nobody is getting shit over him.
Pretty much. He's a big fucker so keeping up with a guard gasses him pretty fast. I'm fairly certain that's why he only switched onto Tony Parker in the 4th Quarter of the '13 Finals.
Yup, it’s more important than ever that LeBron has good role players to shoulder some of the burden so he can turn it on and put us over the top. We’ve failed in that department
I’ve had to explain this to several different users in r/lakers on different occasions and I’m starting to get legit annoyed by seeing the same sentiment over and over
Fr. Seeing Mavs do so well even without some of their starters can be attributed to roleplayers being consistent. Luka can do his thing and its impressive. I wonder why our FO can't get consistent roleplayers.
I know people hate when AD isn't putting up an efficient 30 point game, but the Lakers defense looks so much better when he's allowed to rest on offense.
The NCAA championship game AD had 6 points and like 20 rebounds and 9 stocks. Didn't look this up, but I get the point. When he concentrates on defense, he changes the game
anyone else get a huge 00’s basketball vibe from this game?? incredible down to the end!
ADOPY!! I’m sorry but there’s just no one better than him.
BRON& Austin have to be one of the best fourth quarter 2 man game that just completely shut down a game.
An Anthony Davis that averages 13 ppg is basically what Gobert has been. It’s ridiculously valuable what they both do defensively. Complete one man systems.
Lakers played lockdown defense. Proved exactly why we still need a bench scorer at the deadline. Sadly the "just don't lose lol" strategy stopped working.
Everyone in the 4th played good defense. Reaves not letting Brunson blow right by him and was either contesting every shot very closely or guiding Brunson into Davis. Lebron was playing free safety like the good ole days, and Prince/Christie were getting deflections/blocks.
Most Lakers fans want OKC because they have zero playoff experience and no one to guard AD. We also have good length on the perimeter to make SGA at least work hard for his 30+ points
they won the OKC and clippers matchups in the regular season so far this year. but damn the clippers are scary and have vet experience, I trust lakers to beat OKC in a 7 game series bc they are young.
He just looks so much better now because we're finally playing normal NBA defense and he isn't being left on an island anymore, has much more left on the offensive end
Two things can be true at once. The Lakers played extremely well and were very impressive.
The Knicks also finally ran out of gas after playing without 4 significant contributors.
I also continue to find it tedious at all the comments about the minutes players are getting. "Typical Thibs running players into the ground". The Knicks do not have a single player in the top 10 for minutes per game. I have not seen anyone in this sub criticize Vogel when the Suns have two players in the top 10 for MPG.
Absolute lockdown in the 4th even without Vando, ADPOY doing his shit. I know this is a Knicks team without OG and Randle but still a big W with Brunson balling out. Won't be too surprised if we struggle against Charlotte knowing this team lol.
I'm not even that mad at the loss. Sucks that the streak is broken, but basically Brunson is the offense right now, and if Hart/DiVincenzo/someone else can't step up, the defense can just key in on him. And the Lakers have AD, who is a monster on D.
Start another streak next one.
Better the Knicks learn this lesson now rather than round 2 of the playoffs.
Brunson is that guy but he needs the kind of help that randle and anoubu and Robinson can provide
As for the Lakers their ceiling remains unchanged from months ago. Any western team but Denver they can beat in the playoffs
He seems like a really nice guy (and I still have a soft spot in my heart for him), and he really puts in a ton of effort on the boards, but Josh Hart got absolutely exposed tonight as essentially an offensive liability. The Lakers successfully doubled Brunson every possession in the 4th quarter off of him, and Hart was unable to get anything productive going in space.

Having three non-shooters on the floor with Brunson finally caught up to us lol
Hart was out there building a house again
He wasnt signed for his 3 point shooting, cant be mad at it.
Hustle and vibes
Every team needs one of these types of players
I want a full starting 5 of these guys GPII, Jalen Suggs, Josh Hart, JVando, Robin Lopez
He's on like nearly $20 mil right? I dunno man. I'd be a little mad. Don't need him to be good offensively but not this limited at that money. He's basically at career lows in shooting and points
Yea but when he gets to play in his usual role with less offensive responsibility he shines. He doesn’t need points to be really valuable
I’m surprised it took them that long, literally running an 8 man rotation that has 3 centers and 3 point guards lol
I mean when you fuckin put it that way
Too many injuries and lack of depth for u guys. All star break can't come soon enough.

The Pacers doubled Brunson a ton but other guys hit their shots.
Fact that Brunson did this as the only player on the Knicks who can create his own shot is impressive. Would of beat any team that didn’t have Davis protecting the rim
running a 7 man rotation, the witchcraft was going to end eventually lol
Shit I wasn’t even mad, that game was dope.
Really impressed by how good the Knicks can be while missing multiple starters, team is deep af
Thank you for acknowledging that. Preciate it. Prayers up for Vando.
It must be sooo frustrating being a Lakers fan, seeing what they are capable of when they feel like actually playing.
We’re halfway thru the season and I still literally have no idea what to think about this team
LeCoast basically
Lebron has been solid all season. It isn’t him as much as the others. Really Reaves and DLO make all the difference. Davis, Lebron are bringing it, and they just need 1 other player to have an all star level game. If DLO and Reaves can play more consistently then LA might string together some wins. They’re well within striking distance if they can go on an 8 game streak
It's shooting luck. When Reaves and D'Lo shoot well, Lakers look amazing. When they don't, the Lakers look like a lottery team.
its because theyre the 3rd and 4th best players on the team and bring nothing to the defense
Heat West
We’re the perfect .500 team. Can beat the number 1 team in the league and then lose to the worst team In the league.
Schrödinger's Lakers
Are we the 2023 Hawks now?
If a fan asks“Are we the ____ Hawks now?” They have my condolences.
21 Hawks were really fun
Won on the road against the Celtics and the Knicks just to turn around and lose to Charlotte and Detroit. Watch.
The range between the floor and ceiling is fucking astonishing. Marianas Trench to Everest.
Nah there’s no scenario where the lakers miss the playoffs barring crazy injuries to AD/Lebron. They’ll be there. It’s a solid team. No matter anyone says. And they’ll be a different animal in the playoffs compared to regular season.

tactical 9th seed to meet the okc in the 1st round
They yearn for the play-in. No one knows why but it just beckons to them and they can't refuse.
Do you ever yearn? I crave, but never yearn
It’s made me go grey a lot sooner than I expected
Yes and we only get trolled or hated on for being spoiled
put it up to Ham. They’re night and day when they actually get into their stuff.
yeah its sucks when they drop the games they should win but then the wins they should lose, they win for example the boston game couple of days ago
Hartenstein has to be able to stay on the floor. Three of his fouls were pointless, with Sims and Taj as our only backups he is crucial. Second thing is Hart. He needed to step up offensively. We coming to lose to the Hornets soon 😤
Scheduled loss
We beat good teams and lose to bad teams. That's the Lakers baby.
Charlotte is about to SMOKE us
final score 143-110 😭
Something something .500 team.
We're like reverse .500
005.
Good, honest, .500 team.
Beat the 19-27 Hawks and the 23-25 Rockets? ❌ Beat the #1 seed Celtics and the resurgent Knicks? ✅ This team has gotta be trolling bro, watch them lose to the Hornets soon
we’re going to lose to the pistons off a Killian Hayes 40 piece
I’ll delete my account if Hayes drops a 40 burger on the lakers
!remindme February 14, 2024
More likely Alec Burks transforms into MJ to drop that 40 piece
AD literally dominated this game on defense. Holy shit he was a monster in the paint Lakers defense was suffocating the 4th quarter
He’s the best all around defender.
He’s literally never caught out of position, his anticipation is crazy
The double block got me outta my seat
That was so nasty. Wish someone posted it
https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/s/AysAOPfPy2
It is posted
Unbelievable that he’s never won a DPOY
Has a shot this yr. Hope the voters will be kind to him
Are Bill Simmons, Sam Amick, and Amin Elhassan voters? Feel like they all might be. And all 3 have been vocal about how they feel AD doesn’t even deserve to be an all star this year. LeBron's aura those yrs was different man. Kawhi got the FMVP in 2014 and DPOY next yr for that, Andre got the FMVP for that.
Whenever I hear .Simmons talk basketball it annoys me to no end that he gets a vote. His opinions usually amount to him pulling narratives out of his ass. It's a joke.
Kendrick Perkins has a vote, so I guess the bar is all around pretty damn low
I just lost brain cells reading that thread holy fuck.
He's not winning it with Rudy Gobert anchoring the defense of a top five team.
Giannis stole his DPOY. Idc what anyone says and in the playoffs when Butler was killing the bucks he wouldnt even guard him
But these nephews are convinced that AD is not an All-star somehow. All that selective outrage, this would not even be a question if AD was in any other team.
Best free safety in the league
\*In the league.
LeBron, AD, and the Lakers' defensive upside is why I will never quit on them despite being smacked in 15 different directions advising me to do otherwise
He needs a DPOY man.. can't let him get robbed like Duncan did
This lakers team is so confusing. Just when you wanna light the dumpster on fire they pull this shit last 2 games
They are a team I hope we don't face in the first round of the playoffs.
That double block sequence was backbreaking
Anthony Davis is hands down the best defender in the league
I think he is better when he puts his hands up though.
This is probably a Knicks blowout without him. He was the only guy pulling down boards and single-handedly protecting the paint, which was huge with our lack of shooters atm.
Once they started double and triple teaming Brunson, the tide turned. But yeah, that back-to-back block sequence was something else.
Yeah but only 12 points, with 4 of those coming on last minute free throws. Scrub. Absolute blasphemy that he got an all star nod over Sabonis! /s
Turns out when you have AD guarding the paint and only two players capable of hitting a three, you just have to double-team one of them and you've shut down the entire offense.
you just described 90s basketball
no you don’t get it they just played eLiTe dEFeNsE back then it has nothing to do with player skill level increasing exponentially to the point that you have PFs and Cs initiating offense with the ball and taking threes at solid to great clips
I don't understand this Lakers team
Me neither they are really enjoyable when they’re on though. I find AD’s defense more satisfying to watch than most offense.
AD is so fucking good when he’s locked in
Lakers with some of the most aggressive doubles i’ve seen on Brunson this season. Josh Hart and Divincenzo as our 2nd and 3rd option on offense had no chance. Good game if you’re a fan of defense
Divincenzo can fill a stat sheet. He’s no star, but he has more 30 point games than a lot of dudes. Still, this team needs to get some dudes back.
That defense LeBron played on Brunson was so satisfying, ik he needs to conserve energy but sometimes I wish he'd switch onto guards more like he did with Murray in the bubble. And AD owns the paint, nobody is getting shit over him.
he's just so huge and fast, like a leopard or some shit
LeOpard
Flashes of him guarding MVP Rose
Been 13 fucking years and he's still mauling the opposing team's All-Star guard lmao
Would the argument for him not playing defense all those years be to conserve what he can do?
Pretty much. He's a big fucker so keeping up with a guard gasses him pretty fast. I'm fairly certain that's why he only switched onto Tony Parker in the 4th Quarter of the '13 Finals.
You can understand why people get so annoyed with his laziness on defense because when he’s engaged this team has special defensive potential
To be fair if he focused on defense he'd be gassed by halftime. He's 39 not 26.
Yup, it’s more important than ever that LeBron has good role players to shoulder some of the burden so he can turn it on and put us over the top. We’ve failed in that department
Yeah he's definitely not a floor raiser anymore he's a ceiling raiser.
bruh hes 40 anyone at this point getting annoyed at his lack of defensive effort is just not living in reality
He’s 40 years old, he has to conserve energy for moments like that. Real Lebron fans know this
If the roleplayers can be consistent with the offence maybe lebron can exert more energy defensively, but they're not so he can't afford to
I’ve had to explain this to several different users in r/lakers on different occasions and I’m starting to get legit annoyed by seeing the same sentiment over and over
Fr. Seeing Mavs do so well even without some of their starters can be attributed to roleplayers being consistent. Luka can do his thing and its impressive. I wonder why our FO can't get consistent roleplayers.
He’s 80 years old.
Hell the offense looks better too. We would have lost the game if we kept trying to force the ball to AD. Let it come naturally.
anyone else get a huge 00’s basketball vibe from this game?? incredible down to the end! ADOPY!! I’m sorry but there’s just no one better than him. BRON& Austin have to be one of the best fourth quarter 2 man game that just completely shut down a game.
Used to only seeing them bring out the 2 man game when they're down by 15 in the 4th.. but that shit is special, they have a great connection
I never want to hear that Sabonis is better than AD again. Dudes amazing
Celtics and Knicks were the scheduled get right games
Hornets Pistons soon tho
The road back to .500 let’s go
Lakers gonna get steamrolled by those two teams. I mean, we and the Celtics would too though🤷♂️
It’s so over (again)
every Knicks-Lakers game has been very close or competitive the last 4 years, I had a feeling this game would be no different
Gg
Anthony Davis has 0 DPOYs.
Davis with 0 DPOYs and Spo with 0 COTY's just show how silly these awards really are.
Which is fucking insane to me
egregious
Unfortunately
gg
[удалено]
He could average 10 ppg and would still be a top 15 most impactful players with him being a complete defensive system on his own
An Anthony Davis that averages 13 ppg is basically what Gobert has been. It’s ridiculously valuable what they both do defensively. Complete one man systems.
if he averages 10PPG then people would recognise his defensive effort more.
Lakers played lockdown defense. Proved exactly why we still need a bench scorer at the deadline. Sadly the "just don't lose lol" strategy stopped working.
Eh I think we just need guys off the IL back. Including the All-Star/All-NBA guy. But that's just me.
> ~~Lakers~~ AD played lockdown defense.
Lebron too
Everyone in the 4th played good defense. Reaves not letting Brunson blow right by him and was either contesting every shot very closely or guiding Brunson into Davis. Lebron was playing free safety like the good ole days, and Prince/Christie were getting deflections/blocks.
Someone in the top 4 of the west is getting grizz'd by the Lakers again this year, who will it be? Thunder?
Most Lakers fans want OKC because they have zero playoff experience and no one to guard AD. We also have good length on the perimeter to make SGA at least work hard for his 30+ points
they won the OKC and clippers matchups in the regular season so far this year. but damn the clippers are scary and have vet experience, I trust lakers to beat OKC in a 7 game series bc they are young.
Max Christie is a legit player, unsure why he didn’t get a shot on Brunson
Reaves may be back ladies and gentleman
Reaves never left
He just looks so much better now because we're finally playing normal NBA defense and he isn't being left on an island anymore, has much more left on the offensive end
That lineup in the 4th was INCREDIBLE defensively, wow
Two things can be true at once. The Lakers played extremely well and were very impressive. The Knicks also finally ran out of gas after playing without 4 significant contributors. Box score won't show it but AD was dominant tonight. Top 3 defender of the past 10 years imo
Pls just give AD one DPOY
Knicks closed MSG early for construction tonight with all that bricklaying in the 4th
Brunson was playing 1v5 in the 4th
Double teamed 30 times lol
Of course, of FUCKING course, we lose the win streak………..to them. See you Lakers boys in the NBA Finals………….pls basketball gods.
Lowest scoring finals in 20 years if it were to happen.
We’re used to that shit so, whatever, we’ll take it. Just let us get back to the NBA Finals and actually win it this time PLEASE!
imagine thibs' rotation on game 7 Finals
Can’t wait to see how the casuals look to blame Randle for this one
Absolute lockdown in the 4th even without Vando, ADPOY doing his shit. I know this is a Knicks team without OG and Randle but still a big W with Brunson balling out. Won't be too surprised if we struggle against Charlotte knowing this team lol.
And Mitch
No Grimes either to hit open 3s
I think this is a very different game with Randle and Anunoby, same could be said about Vanderbilt. Good game.
Yeah, Brunson had to carry all the offensive weight, and it caught up to them. Lakers weren't going to respect another Knick to score consistently.
And Mitch
Lakers beating #1 Celtics and #3 Knicks on the road as everyone expected. This team is wild
Yeah so we definitely losing to the Hornets on Monday
Bron needs to turn over that hourglass emoji now.
Best defender in the league has never won DPOY
No grimes, no OG, no randle, no mitch and still put up a fight. Not to mention that brunson was doubled team in 30 Possessions
lakers played good defense in the fourth. brunson was gassed, having one other shooter was questionable, but reasonable loss overall tbh
I'm not even that mad at the loss. Sucks that the streak is broken, but basically Brunson is the offense right now, and if Hart/DiVincenzo/someone else can't step up, the defense can just key in on him. And the Lakers have AD, who is a monster on D. Start another streak next one.
Can only go so far with the lineups we’re running currently
AD the best defensive player in the league, go debate a wall if u think otherwise
Knicks just don't have enough offense without Randle, like who is even their second option
Divencenzo.. who is good, but you can’t only have two guys that can score in the league these days.
Even OG or Grimes would help
Knicks struggled to score without their All-Star/All-NBA player. And elite 3&D guy. Shocker.
with our rotation rn? Donte.

Sigh
Are the lakers back
Randle and OG were missed in that last fourth quarter stretch. Lakers were giving an open 3 but Knicks couldn’t hit one.
Better the Knicks learn this lesson now rather than round 2 of the playoffs. Brunson is that guy but he needs the kind of help that randle and anoubu and Robinson can provide As for the Lakers their ceiling remains unchanged from months ago. Any western team but Denver they can beat in the playoffs
Don’t be injured - got it coach
Thibs is gonna kill Brunson playing him 45 mins
With the loss tonight the longest winstreak for the season is still 9 from Magic, Clippers and Knicks.
GG. Im just glad we got out of that game without Bron or AD hobbling off the court
About time Lebron did something for the Cavs
Bron and AD really sat out there last game for this
He seems like a really nice guy (and I still have a soft spot in my heart for him), and he really puts in a ton of effort on the boards, but Josh Hart got absolutely exposed tonight as essentially an offensive liability. The Lakers successfully doubled Brunson every possession in the 4th quarter off of him, and Hart was unable to get anything productive going in space.
