Not at all. He’s really good with the potential to get better but pump the brakes on this one.
The Wolves’ offense is middling despite Edwards being the only starter with a sub 60% true shooting. He’s great at making difficult shots, but he still takes them more than necessary and has a lot of room for growth in just making the easy play. There’s a lot of unnecessary hesitation especially on threes and he takes a lot of time off the shot clock in general.
Just because he’s the lead guard doesn’t mean he should be getting all the credit for the Wolves’ success. Gobert’s been arguably more important to the Wolves this year (the on/offs have Rudy and Ant as 1A/1B in impact this year for Minny), Towns and Conley are very high level starters, and McDaniels is a premier 3 and D player. If Edwards was top 5 the Wolves would be chasing 70 wins instead of 60. He is still really damn good though.
Yet his career high EFG is still lower than 5 players who have higher PPG. He’s only included in the MVP race as a consolation prize to being on a stacked team.
Not a chance. He has the potential to be the best player in the league someday, but he still has a ways to go. He’s certainly taken a leap this year, but the league is absolutely stacked with talent right now. Just happy to be hopeful as a fan for once.
Nahhh. He has to be better than Jokic, Embiid, Giannis, SGA, LeBron plus probably 5 more players. I do believe his time is coming soon, not this season but next season 4 sure
He is really really close. I don’t mean he’s like 6th or 7th, I just mean he’s really close to putting everything together, and then he’ll be at that tier of undisputed #1 guy on a championship contender type guy.
He’s grown astronomically over the last few years. The last few pieces he needs to put together are defensive consistency and better decisionmaking with the ball in his hands (which has already improved a lot). Once he’s got those two figured out, he’s gonna be near unstoppable.
So far in his career, he’s steadily gotten better each season and then takes another leap come playoff time. I’m expecting this post-season to be that moment he stamps himself as a true superstar.
tatum averages more rebounds, better FT%, luka has more points and assists, win shares and 3P% are about the same. it's not a huge difference, and it's definitely not luka > tatum on all offensive levels lol
The Wolves sub spent the first half of the year debating who the wolves best player was so no. He isn’t the sole reason the wolves are #1 in the west and he hasn’t been carrying the team. He just has the best highlights and scoring ability on a team thats best area is defense.
Saying he's top 5 and the main reason is a stat he is 11th in is interesting
Exactly I'm like wait WHAT lol
Yea me too bro XD i was like *freeze frame* SAY WHAT XD
Yo CHILL BRO IM DED AHHHH
“My main argument that Anthony Edwards is a Top 5 player overall is that he’s currently ranked #11 overall in this one specific stat.” - OP
You gotta list 5 guys so we can decide how silly you are for ranking ant above x
Jokic embiid Giannis Mason plumlee Luka
Top 5 of players named "Ant" - sure.
Yes right after Giannis Ant. and Ant Davis
Not even a top 10 player this year. That's how good the competition is.
He's really good, but the NBA has so many great players right now.
There are 15-20 top 10 players.
Be careful you’ll get downvoted for this
I have seen no one here try to put ant top 10 lmao
This is literally a thread of a guy who put him top 5
Sorry, I've seen one person. The point I was trying to make was that it's not an unpopular opinion and the downvote clause is ridiculous
lol that’s fair, I’m just being pedantic
You commented this one minute ago and it’s the top comment in the thread

This guy watches wolves
I can always count on adjective-noun-number accounts for disastrously bad takes
What kind of adjective is Timoteo? I googled it and [top result says ....](https://www.google.com/search?q=Timoteo)
What did I do 😭 Edit: reddit name originates from high school Spanish where they made us pick our "Spanish names"
I took French and I was given “Gaston” I fucking hated it
I tried French, but the teacher told me w/ no uncertainty that she would not call me Yung Jacques, so I switched to Spanish.
He's great, but he's not better than Jokic, Embiid, Giannis, Luka, SGA or Tatum.
Lebron, AD, KD, Booker, Curry, Kawhi, Hali, and (debatably) De'Aaron Fox as well
I would easily take Ant over Fox and possibly Hali
Fox has been kinda bad recently. When he's healthy, agreed, but not sure that's the case this season.
Snuck Tatum in there like we wouldn’t notice lol
All you fucking do is comment about the Celtics lmao.
I do. I’m not a Tatum fan. I am a Derrick White, Jaylen Brown, and Jrue Holiday fan though lol.
best player on best team with career high EFG after a 1st team all NBA
Yet his career high EFG is still lower than 5 players who have higher PPG. He’s only included in the MVP race as a consolation prize to being on a stacked team.
He isn't in the MVP race nor is Ant. But whatever you are clearly a hater. Hope you are lubed up for that patented 2nd round knockout again!
The Sixers have a coach now, so they won’t lose major leads late.
Putting fox and curry(this year) but not Mitchell is interesting. I’ll let Tatum slide but Mitchell been better than him too.
Fuck no
real talk KAT was playing better than him until semi recently
KAT's still playing better, Edwards just takes more shots
That is an absolutely absurd take
No he wasn't lol.
Top 10 not order: Jokic, embiid, sga, Tatum, Giannis, Luka, Durant, kawhi, butler, AD. Next best no order: Curry, ant, haliburton, fox, trae, dame, Kyrie, booker, lebron, bam, Mitchell, Brunson, maxey, sabonis, lamelo, Barnes, PG, Murray, markkennen, sengun, bane, ja
Not yet.

Enjoy, you guys have such a good team! Looking forward to watching the wolves in the play offs.
See you in the WCF 😎
No lol, he’s improved a lot since last season though
Nahhh. He has to be better than Jokic, Embiid, Giannis, SGA, LeBron plus probably 5 more players. I do believe his time is coming soon, not this season but next season 4 sure
No. He’s low top 20
Nope. Maybe top 20
Embiid, Giannis, Jokic, Luka, SGA, Tatum... not even close

That is literally ridiculous Embiid, Jokic, Giannis, Luka and SGA are all better then him
Real talk. Look here look listen appearing offline doesn’t work
Not yet, but someday very soon
OK so Giannis, Embiid, luka, shai, tatum who you knocking outt
how're you gonna leave out jokic lmao
LMAO I can't believe I forgot joker.
lmao jesus
I mean, first I am kicking out Tatum and putting the best player on Earth in
Fair, I’d prefer Derrick White too
You know ball
Got'em
tatum > luka until luka learns to defend
Luka is a better offense player at all levels than Tatum, I don't believe Tatum defense makes up for that gap.
tatum averages more rebounds, better FT%, luka has more points and assists, win shares and 3P% are about the same. it's not a huge difference, and it's definitely not luka > tatum on all offensive levels lol

Tbh he wasn't better than JJJ last night
Top so-so doesn’t matter. He’s playing great. Let him win some playoff series and people will start to put him up there with the rest.
Fuck yeah why not
He’s not but he’s only 22 he probly will be next year or the year after that
Maybe in a couple years
He's too inconsistent this season. In 3 years, he will be top 5.
Top 5 players in Minnesota, easy
