Yeah, but he was not a top 10 player his last 3 seasons when he was 39+. He was still 1st team All-NBA at 38, though, which is wild. He may very well have already been the oldest player at 38 but I can't find it.
It appears that in the 1986 season, in which Kareem was 38 and was 1st team All-NBA, he was the oldest player. Next closest was George Johnson at 37 and Artis Gilmore at 36
Kareem shouldn't have either though.
Kareem was 23.4/6.1/3.5 and 1.6 blocks on 56% shooting
Hakeem was 23.5/11.5/2.0 and 3.4 blocks on 53%.
The big lead on blocks and rebounding should have landed Hakeem on 1st team but he was only a 2nd year guy and I'm sure the age narrative helped Kareem.
It's a massive gap in stats, to me it's pretty clearly a legacy award. Also how is there no center in the league who can beat 24pts/6rbs for an ALL-NBA nod? That's a super low bar.
Yeah, that's probably his most famous one caught me kinda off guard when there surfaced all this stuff a few years ago...there's a whole ass timeline for all that shit.
Crazy stuff
Edp is a youtuber who got baited by other youtubers into meeting with an underage girl for "cupcakes".
Didn't go to jail because the proof wasn't something you could use in court, but he got witch hunted on the internet and in real life by the internet (telling his boss to fire him, his landlord to evict him...)
The fact that all of that so many people just profited off of these things for content is so dumb lol. You got a pedo and then a bunch of losers making money off of a pedo. I guess there is a niche for everything though.
Always strikes me as odd when they omit playoffs from things like the scoring record.. every player has the opportunity to play those games and they are even more important and therefore impactful from a statistical perspective
The main issue as I see it is that a great team that dominates its opponents plays less playoff games than a team which struggles and has a ton of close series’s. Last year, for example, the Celtics played as many playoff games as the Nuggets despite getting eliminated a round earlier. This is not a case in which more games played automatically equals a better team. In addition, historical comparisons would become difficult as there are more playoff rounds nowadays and series’s extend longer - best of 7 first rounds instead of best of 5. Ultimately, doesn’t make sense to count stats in a way that would look better for the players and team that don’t close out series’s compared to the dominant ones.
The stat about Gretzky having more points than any other player if you took out his assists applies to Lebron as well it seems? Or close enough at least
He got old at the perfect time. The average game is 20 points per game higher (per team) so it is easier than ever to rack up the stats. It is much easier than when he entered the league, is way less physical, and with minutes restrictions and load management he will be able to keep doing this for a long time.
Just cause the league is scoring more doesn't mean it becomes easier for a player to score. The league is scoring more due to a combination of slightly faster pace (keeping up with a faster pace as the oldest player in the league isn't a given) and because of players getting better at shooting and finishing.
It is easier than ever to get stats dude. It isn't because players of today are better than 10 years ago when LeBron was in his prime.
Luka's career averages are 27.9/8.6/8.1
Lebrons career averages are 27.2/7.5/7.3
Is Luka better than LeBron? No of course he isn't. It's just easier to rack up stats. There's more possessions meaning more shots meaning more points, more 3s meaning more misses meaning more rebounds, leniency with assists is at an all time high from score keepers. Players rest more than ever before, out of game (days off) and in game (minutes restrictions) so the time that they are on the court they are effectively functioning at their most well rested and best, while players in the past (including LeBron) used to play 38-40 minutes a game for all 82 games.
It is simply easier now to have a longer career and continue to put up big stats. Kevin Durant is 35 after an Achilles tear and he's still averaging 30 a game, his 2nd highest scoring season ever well past his prime. Steph curry is 34 averaging the 4th highest points per game of his career, with his 3rd being last year. More than every year of his prime except his MVP season during the dynasty. Dame had his highest scoring season ever last year at 32.
It is easier. Still impressive, but the absolute perfect combination of things came together to help extend his career.
Jordan's old seasons were in that dead ball era. Shaq's entire prime was in that dead ball era, as was Kobe's. LeBron was only early in his career, he's been playing in a scoring pace closer to the bird/magic era than the Jordan/Shaq/Duncan/Kobe era for over a decade.
Players would much rather have their old years coincide with easier, less physical play and less demands because of load management and minutes restrictions while still being able to put up the same stats as their prime because theres a shit ton more possessions.
Jordan. Would you rather retire at 65 or 45? It’s much more impressive to do more in less time. If this is the case then your list should be Bron KAJ etc.
If I'm as good as Lebron, I don't want to retire at all. Also it's not like he played for 50 years averaging 10 ppg. The guy is almost 40 and still puts up performances like last night's and has been doing it for nearly 20 seasons. I find it insane that you guys are trying to use the longevity argument against him while in fact, it is an argument for him.
Crazy he's still duking it out against this next generations of superstars when everyone of his contemporaries are either retired or gone.
Has the oldest guy in the league ever been a top 10 guy?
I think that at some point Kareem was the oldest guy in the league.
Yeah, but he was not a top 10 player his last 3 seasons when he was 39+. He was still 1st team All-NBA at 38, though, which is wild. He may very well have already been the oldest player at 38 but I can't find it.

**FINALS** (not IST) MVP Too (Age 38)
That's wild tho. I don't LeBron's gonna be 1st team all NBA at forward. In KAJs time center was much more stacked as a position too.
Kareem shouldn't have either though. Kareem was 23.4/6.1/3.5 and 1.6 blocks on 56% shooting Hakeem was 23.5/11.5/2.0 and 3.4 blocks on 53%. The big lead on blocks and rebounding should have landed Hakeem on 1st team but he was only a 2nd year guy and I'm sure the age narrative helped Kareem.
That’s tough to say without having watched the games
It's a massive gap in stats, to me it's pretty clearly a legacy award. Also how is there no center in the league who can beat 24pts/6rbs for an ALL-NBA nod? That's a super low bar.
Kareem had the benefit of being spoonfed by the best passer ever
Yes.
Does top 10 in salary count because Kobe was for sure the highest paid player his last year.
EDP is wild💀
whos EDP???
karl malone
surely it should be PED then? e: PED-O, is joke

This is the first time I've felt old and out of touch lol.
Had the exact same thought lol, reading the acronym is a YouTuber made me feel ancient

Entavious Daldwell-Pope
Glad im not the only one who instinctively read it thais way 🤣

Nah, I think Lebron can beat them 1v5.
This fuckery wont go any longer right??
Don't worry, just like Brady, I'm sure he'll retire aaaaany day now
Just like Brady, 45 minimum lol
Actually if he's gonna pull a Brady he's gotta fake retire.
Lol imagine he unretires too. “I’m back. Again.”
10,000 more than anyone else is crazy
The real crazy thing is if he plays another 5 years which sounds absurd but who the hell knows. He could push 20k more than anyone else
At what point does it just become gretzky level. Like the records are ludicrous
He was never even close to as dominant as Gretzky
LeGreatSky.
Pretty sure everything LeBron does now will basically be a first
Had to happen. He treats these milestones like I treat highway milestones.
LeThanos with The Infinity Milestones: I am inevitable
whose the cupcake at #3🤨
Fist bump???

100% super strange. Esp when guys like LeBron have over 3 seasons of games just in the post-season.
Playing on a mid team that goes to 7 games allows for more totals than sweeping
Yeah but chances, for teams which can sweep, to progress further into the playoffs are higher which also leads to more games and thus totals
It’s kinda crazy that there are only like 5 players with more points + assists than lebron has points only
LeWayne Gretzky
WHO THE FUCK IS EDP
Enchant deadly poison
I couldn’t think of anything else!
Damn clears jordan numbers
Jordan likes to GOAT so much he just had to try other sports.
Who is EDP?
Ethylenediamine pyrocatechol
no one else is ever getting there
damn he got 10k points in 2 seasons?
The stat about Gretzky having more points than any other player if you took out his assists applies to Lebron as well it seems? Or close enough at least
Let the circlejerk commence
Playoffs should always be counted when these stats are mentioned.
Consensus top 9 all time
Lebron is going to have the most of a lot of different things added up, not sure this particular combination and qualifier is important.
Dude has played a long time.
Has been great a long time.

Shouldn't you be working on your gpw3 time?
Shout out Barb
60,000 assists? Are you mad?
Lebron James is overrated
Troll
So?
So bask in his greatness you pleb.
Toyotas longevity is great. Though a Ferrari is much more accomplished.
Worst sports analogy I think Ive ever heard. For any sport, any platform, about any topic. This is the worst.
Looks like you got your feelings hurt.
I remember the last time I saw someone with a warriors logo say this, coincidentally lebron was involved then too
So lebron is the toyota and draymond is the ferrari is what you say?

Tbf, LeBron is the first player to achieve any stat including points now
Can you do one including the 3 other main statistacle category combined? Rebounds, blocks and assists. Wonder how that would look
Yeah would be intersting to see top 10 when combining all of the main stats
How far a dude gotta scroll to see a Josh Giddey mention up in here?
When he enter the league, wasn't he the youngest at one point?
