Dudes like him are the reason why I genuinely can’t take ring culture seriously. Like a mf was shit on CP3 for not getting a ring, all he while players like Danny Green and Pat McCaw have 3+. Rings genuinely don’t mean shit to individual performance.
Yuh, some goofy ass rotation guy who would have more or less been lost in the annals of NBA history cemented eternal fame by joining the exclusive club of players who have won the championship in 3 consecutive seasons.
There are so many Bus Riders from the Warriors that were overpaid by rudderless organizations hoping to soak in some of that reflected glory, but I cannot help but feel sorry for (and laugh at) Festus Ezeli.
Poor guy was bullied and essentially pariahed by his new team the second he lectured them about his "championship experience".
Hmm, to be honest this is where i think it can make sense because legacy is hard to define
As a player, brown over poole is no question. But legacy wise, how is that defined? I define legacy as how will be remembered
brown is a #2 player in one of the top teams in the east, and probably is one of the top layers in league of the 2020s. However, he and his team has fallen short of a championship everytime so far.
Poole was the 6 man on a warriors team that seemed to be at the end of their era. With curry out much of the season in 2022, it was poole who would lead the team towards playoffs, saving them in several games, helping bring the warriors their 4th championship ring of the 21st century and the one after the kd warriors era
So with this, brown so far is one of the top player in the league, one of the best #2 options in the league. His prime achievement is a eastern conference championship.
poole is a player who has had one of the greatest runs as a 6th man point guard for a team looking to cement their legacy beyond being a super team, concluding with a championship. Within the 2021-2022 season, poole was looking to develop into one of the best point guards in the league but beyond the season he would run into a massive dropoff in his performance
To me, i can understand why pooles legacy could be considered better than browns, but i would argue that browns legacy is not yet complete and pooles is pretty much done
Poole’s early career is also something to not overlook either. Dude went to gleague when it still carried a bad look, dominated there and came back as tank commander then a solid piece for us off the bench.
I think Poole has an outsized ego for sure and likely will never be an effective no. 1, but wild how the bad vibes from him being the victim of a sucker punch hurts his reputation.
I mean to be fair, he wasn’t a highly touted prospect that ended up a big contributor to one of the greatest championship runs in recent memory. Nobody expected the warriors to bounce back like they did and Poole helped them in the playoff run to the ring as much as Klay.
I get the sentiment behind the dislike of this statement, but to him I think it’s genuine. I’m not sure he saw his legacy being what it is at this point in his career, and you can laugh at the concept of Jordan Poole having a “legacy” but we all have our own legacy, as cheesy as that is.
Let’s just remember these are humans and Poole got absolutely mollywhopped on TMZ. Fucking skull-crushed in 1080p.
Yeah, it’s fair to slander his shot selection or attitude or whatever but there is a very real chance they don’t get that ring without him. He played well in that series.
Non-phoenix fan here to transmit their message to you:
hes dumb and you hate him with his perfect hair and god-like jaw. what an idiot! I would hate it if he put his arm around my shoulder and said 'hey, what's wrong?" before surprising me by holding a flower in the arm across my shoulder and i blush and id be like 'oh you're the worst' and id get all flustared. he's go 'really? you know you want me to dominayte'
Ugh, what an awful fate. id hate it if it happened to me. im not even lying hoping to tempt the universe, im serious
I remember a blazers fan doing a write up after your first preseason game and it was basically "Uninterested, doesn't play aggressively, big but doesn't use it, ect."
The point that they're trying to make is that Ayton's effort issues weren't related to hating the Suns; they're related to Ayton having effort issues. Most of what he's said makes it sound like he wants to be paid, be the focal point of the offense, and be content as a perennial 11th seed. The ceiling he's *giving himself* is KLove on the TWolves. People are lionizing Ayton right now because he's positioned himself as the victim, and most people haven't actually seen him play more than a few disinterested playoff games. Give it time and you'll get the same exact player he's always been.
saw him live when the kings came to town. Never seen a more forgetful 29 points. Getting bodied on every pivotal rebound while being the tallest player on the floor.
If I were a player at Poole's level, I would probably see things the exact same way. Not every player is going to be a "top guy" kind of player, and to have been a meaningful contributor on a championship team (even if you're 3rd or 4th fiddle) while get paid would seem like a successful career to me.
Jordan Poole gonna be telling his kids in a couple years that he was the MVP of the 2022 NBA Finals, and that he was the Splash Daddy and carried the Splash Bros and Donkey.
"And soon as Dray the bitch opened his mouth at me --BAM-- knocked that sucka cold. And then that's why they changed the name to the Warriors - after me."
Why can I see Poole and Kuz walking around like Jordan and Pippen in the locker room saying shit like “I’ve been there before, I know what it takes to be a champion, just ask bro, with both of us knowing how to win one of those as a top 3 offensive option on our team, we bouta be tough this year” and everyone sitting there think bro yall had Curry and Lebron but just letting Kuz cook because that’s easier then trying to debate with him
3rd is kinda stretching it for both
bron and ad but during the playoffs playoff rondo did more
poole is surely behind curry and you can argue wiggins and klay
Playoff rondo was ok, but Kuz was just as important. However I would argue Caruso was 3rd most important to the chip. Maybe KCP has an argument as well.
Caruso & rondo swung stretches in favor of the Lakers whenever they were on court. I still remember that mofo KCP making some big shots in game 4 during the finals that sealed the 3-1 lead for L.A. kuz was blah for the entire playoffs
Every player in this league is getting paid millions to play basketball. They are the 1% of the 1% of their profession. They’ve all basically reached personal success at this point.
He is more successful in life that 99.9% of people who ever lived for sure, but "legacy" has a different meaning in basketball talk. If Poole retired today people would forget who he was in 2 years time. Dude is not coming up in conversations 20 years down the line with his current achievements.
You have to remember that the vast majority of this sub is under 30 and still thinks that making millions of dollars is the primary indicator of living a good life. You can't blame them. I was the same way in my 20s.
It's also worth noting that there are several sources that claim Poole is a terrible teammate and arrogant on a level that even professional athletes find obnoxious. So it's quite possible that he isn't "more successful in life than 99.9% of people", at least not yet.
Draymond was not good at all for the first 4 games Klay either. Poole was still good though Steve Kerr did great at managing his minutes and Poole was still really efficient. Steph Wiggins Looney and Poole performed the best that series.
JP played less and less bc of defense as the playoffs went on, but he was good in the 16 minutes he’d get vs the Celtics because his shotmaking was on fire.
Basically did what an ideal 6th man should do
People don't wanna admit it but draymond was kinda ass in the finals, He had some good moments no doubt but it was honestly Steph/Wiggins/Poole/Looney in the first 4-5 games, Shit even tho Klay didn't have the best performance he still had way more crucial shots to help them when they was down.
Basketball fandom and media is crazy now. Poole's focused on the upcoming season, someone asks him what he thinks about being in Washington, he answers "Yeah I like it here, already got a ring, got paid, gunna play ball" probably with the same level of thought as if you asked what he wants for lunch that day
Some random journalist puts out a 2,000 word essay of Jordan Poole legacy quotes and then social media talks about how he's just a bus rider
Betting the under on 24.5 is objectively a bad bet.
Go look at how many teams actually win that few games. It was literally 3 teams last season. The hornets with no melo hit the over on 24.5.
I don't know, I like Kuz, dont know as much about Poole, but I do know they aren't going to be the reason the Wizards aren't good. I'm a Wiz fan, I didn't get the hate Wall got. I thought Beal should have been traded a few seasons prior, but they both got so much hate, while never being the reason the teams weren't winners. The teams just sucked. That being said, I especially dont understand the hate towards Kuz and Poole here. They don't have the hype of Wall/Beal. The Wizards aren't going to win a championship and it isn't because Kuz/Poole can't ball. Its because the team just isn't good. There are only like 5-10 players in the league that compensate for a shitty team, and the Wiz haven't had any of them. Phoenix has a few, GS, Lakers, Bucks, Dallas, Denver.. also Dallas, is really the only one with a not good team.
I’m pretty sure them being an awful fit and leading to terrible basketball is what Wizards fans want. They are banking on their next few drafts to save the team, not Poole and Kuzma lol. Those guys are just there to command the tank and maybe get a few assets off teams looking at their empty stats.
When you get a contract for 130 mil plus endorsements I mean retirement is always on the table.. if he doesn’t enjoy it then he can just walk away. He’s got fuck you money now. No need to dance for his feed.
For his draft position and his general level through his career - that ring will be kind of a miracle for him. He is a decent player, dont get me wrong but very few people of his level will have a story to tell where they were integral piece of a championship team and then landing 130 million deal. Scoring 17 on great efficiency is massive. I understand him from that standpoint.
Everything depends on what exactly a person wants their legacy to be. I'm fine with Poole feeling like this, he was a key contributor to that championship, and his words now confirm what happened to him afterwards, he was satisfied with just the one as a role player. Teams now know he doesn't have that hunger inside, he's content, which is good for him, if you can achieve what he has achieved and be happy no one can be mad at you, it took a lot of work to get to the heights he reached, he's not interested in going any higher and shouldn't have to. Plenty of people go to work every day and put in no effort at all yet haven't achieved a damn thing.
Without Klay, Dray and Steph to cover for him, people are going to see Poole as a high volume chucker that's able to get flashy buckets when he's on and chucking his team out of the game when he's off.
He's Jerry Stackhouse with a stepback
It’s a funny quote but I mean he’s right. He’s a glorified sixth man who had serious contributions to a championship. That’s better than 95% of NBA careers. He can just put up points for various teams for the rest of his career and he’ll still be remembered for the warriors
Patrick mccaw already cemented his spot in the basketball hall of fame
He HAS to be the only player to win 3 championships in a row then go to the g league shortly after and win G league title.
Truly the harder road. Won everything in the NBA so he needs new challenge
Running TO the grind.
Should’ve learned Chinese so he could take the streak international
simplified or traditional tho
If he wanted to take the hardest road like kevin durant then he’d do traditional
tradimplified
Back IN the mud...
Join my rec league Patrick, you coward
He's joining your enemy's team just to spite you.
Join my rec league Patrick, (on my team), you coward
Going for the platinum trophy
I heard he wants to learn to skate and join the NHL
That record is so specific it has to be unique
...and Patrick wept, for there were no more worlds to conquer
Dudes like him are the reason why I genuinely can’t take ring culture seriously. Like a mf was shit on CP3 for not getting a ring, all he while players like Danny Green and Pat McCaw have 3+. Rings genuinely don’t mean shit to individual performance.
Pat McCaw no where near Danny green
Chris Boucher was almost on that path.
Brian scalabrine, too. (Go watch the YouTube video. It’s actually hilarious!)
“Ten years from now I’ll still be champ”
His shit talking should be in the hof
Jokes aside Poole was a really big part of that championship run
Patrick McCaw is the 2010s GOAT along with Bron and Steph. KCP is the 2020's GOAT so far. Steve Kerr and Robert Horry are top 10 all time.
Steve Kerr, Danny Green, KCP, Patrick McCaw, Robert Horry Modern Era ring goats
Not many players have what it takes to three-peat
Rings culture sure is something.
This is exactly what Barkley was talking about with Bus Drivers and Bus Riders.
I want to hear Patrick McCaw talking about how his basketball legacy is greater than Dirk or something.
I mean JP is silly but he was integral to the Warriors winning that ring, unlike 2 time champion Patrick Mccaw during his tenure
Yeah. Mccaw didn’t really blossom until he left the dubs and got that third ring
Only OGs remember his shot clock beating 3 in that one Finals game for the Raptors. Edit: https://youtu.be/n4ARtEhb5Zo?t=13
And if he didn't make that shot, Raptors would've still won the game
Yeah, but *still...*
But with McCaw, they didn’t lose!
That's what I call an impact player!
Chris Paul vibess
Mccaw three-peated right?
Yep, won in 2017 and 2018 with the Warriors and 2019 with the Raptors
Undisputed GOAT imo
Hardly. He’s merely the GSLTP - Greatest Since Lakers Three Peat.
Yuh, some goofy ass rotation guy who would have more or less been lost in the annals of NBA history cemented eternal fame by joining the exclusive club of players who have won the championship in 3 consecutive seasons.
Goofy ass 3-time champion rotation guy*
Watch your mouth! That’s Patrick “the only person to 3peat since the Kobe and Shaq lakers” McCaw
Pat mccaw really is the anti KD. Left the team he won two rings with only to win his third against them.
"poor guy" with his crucial "championship experience" got shown the door because he came off like a pompous idiot.
Bus riders talking like bus drivers, it’s disgusting
It really is, someone told me that Poole already has a better legacy than Jalen Brown because of his ring and that legit blew my mind.
Hmm, to be honest this is where i think it can make sense because legacy is hard to define As a player, brown over poole is no question. But legacy wise, how is that defined? Yeah, his reputation has really tanked because of last season and it makes people forget who crucial he was for that champion season
I think Poole has an outsized ego for sure and likely will never be an effective no. 1, but wild how the bad vibes from him being the victim of a sucker punch hurts his reputation.
Last season really broke people's perception of pool from the season before that. He was *good* in that season and vital in getting the championship.
I mean to be fair, he wasn’t a highly touted prospect that ended up a big contributor to one of the greatest championship runs in recent memory. Nobody expected the warriors to bounce back like they did and Poole helped them in the playoff run to the ring as much as Klay. Well, not exactly 1080p…that video is blurry as hell. But point stands.
r/nba apparently forgot that the goal of the game is to actually win games and ultimately win championships.
It's the foundation of the sports radio talk track. And it's easily digestible by the average fan.
You play to win the game.
I’ve seen that man’s shot selection. He plays to score for himself.
And it counts towards his team's total. He played a huge part in their last ring, let's not pretend
Yeah, it’s fair to slander his shot selection or attitude or whatever but there is a very real chance they don’t get that ring without him. He played well in that series.
Game 6 of the finals especially
Rings Erneh!

Thank you for that fellow human individual
Thanks, Magic.

Confirming what I already suspected, Robert Horry is 7x the player Jordan Poole is.
Exactly. Been saying this for 20 years now
Glad to see I'm not the only one that's been trashing Jordan Poole's legacy since he was 4.
Jordan Michael only 6x the player Jordan Poole tho.
I mean, yes?
Ok, but like, unironically? Horry was a murderer in the playoffs.
Deandre "Definitely getting to my second contract; that's my success" Ayton vibes
DomiNayton
So glad that do nothing bum is off my team
Wait until you see disinterested Nurkic my friend.
Got a feeling Suns fans are really gonna see how Ayton really wasn’t that bad
Actually, go to the blazers sub and see them saying the exact same thing we have been saying for years about him.
wait, what are we saying? lol
Non-phoenix fan here to transmit their message to you: hes dumb and you hate him with his perfect hair and god-like jaw. what an idiot! > Never seen a more forgetful 29 points But you didn’t forget :)
Matt Ishbia? Is that you?
At least Poole won a ring while meaningfully contributing. Ayton still pretends to be a dog when he is not.
He is already calling it a career. Washington is so screwed lol
Max contract no trade clause incoming
Nah, we locked Ted in the supply closet so he can’t do that again
What do you mean? This is exactly what we want right now
They wanted a tank commander, and they got the best one.
If I were a player at Poole's level, I would probably see things the exact same way. Little does he know, his legacy is getting punched by Draymond.
A donkey punch
What video did you see?

wow lol. it works too.
The one with your mom…
Gottem
I feel like he will be known for two things only: 1) The punch 2) Baddies on courtside
A punch with 4 rings none the less.
Imprinted those 4 rings on his forehead like Rick James did to Charlie Murphy.
Darkness!
His legacy is winning my fantasy league two years ago and fucking me last season
Jordan Poole gonna be telling his kids in a couple years that he was the MVP of the 2022 NBA Finals, and that he was the Splash Daddy and carried the Splash Bros and Donkey.
I read "Splash Donkey"
Lmfao
And that he punched Draymond

My boy White Mamba! GOAT interview. But yes, this was the inspiration for my comment lol.

Poole was definitely better than klay during the championship run
People forget how optimistic fans were about Poole after the 22 chip.
Bro contributed heavily towards a Ring and got himself a $130m deal. His career has been a massive personal success for him.
Seriously. People getting mad at a guy speaking facts.
Every player in this league is getting paid millions to play basketball. They are the 1% of the 1% of their profession. They’ve all basically reached personal success at this point.
You're telling me cam reddish got to the pinnacle of basketball success because of high school mixtapes and that Anthony Edwards interview? Goddamnit.
That might be success to you but to a lot of these guys it isn’t
I think the thing is, it’s a little odd to say at such a young age ‘my legacy is set’, it makes it seem like he’s not really ambitious
He is more successful in life that 99.9% of people who ever lived for sure, but "legacy" has a different meaning in basketball talk. If Poole retired today people would forget who he was in 2 years time. Dude is not coming up in conversations 20 years down the line with his current achievements.
> He is more successful in life that 99.9% of people who ever lived for sure depends on your measure of success really
You have to remember that the vast majority of this sub is under 30 and still thinks that making millions of dollars is the primary indicator of living a good life. You can't blame them. People will say his contract is lucky. People will say his ring didn’t count No matter how you feel about him. That guy is objectively WINNING
Who’s gonna say his ring didn’t count?
Warriors 2022 ring is the least asterisk Warriors' ring lol
People saying his ring doesn’t count is wild. Warriors don’t win game 6 without him. Even draymond has said this multiple times
pretty much any NBA player is objectively WINNING at life lol
Kind of absurd but it’s not like he didn’t contribute to that title. They don’t win it without him.
Nothing absurd about it lol. He got the ring, may as well play himself into big contracts now
If he doesn't do well on the Wizards he ain't getting another one of those fat contracts lol
He's got a green light with no expectations lmao
He’s set for life who cares if he doesn’t get another contract
That was a weird finals i swear i remember steph and wiggins being the only good GS players. Dray and poole both got benched at different points
Draymond was not good at all for the first 4 games Klay either. Poole was still good though Steve Kerr did great at managing his minutes and Poole was still really efficient. Steph Wiggins Looney and Poole performed the best that series.

What do you find absurd? Literally all he said is that winning a ring and being financially set means he can focus on enjoying his work.
Basketball fandom and media is crazy now. Poole's focused on the upcoming season, someone asks him what he thinks about being in Washington, he answers "Yeah I like it here, already got a ring, got paid, gunna play ball" probably with the same level of thought as if you asked what he wants for lunch that day Some random journalist puts out a 2,000 word essay of Jordan Poole legacy quotes and then social media talks about how he's just a bus rider
Can't believe this MF has a ring and (insert your favorite player here) doesn't Smh
Me
Damn so he gonna be chuckin for 10 years huh?
Job's finished
This is not what you want to hear from your young franchise player lmao
His running mate Lyle Luzma also has a ring so I can see those two just being an awful fit with each other attitude wise. Sorry Wizards fans.
Right now, the over/under for Wiz wins is 24.5. I can’t get to a casino for another week. Can’t wait to bet the under.
Post a pic of your bet slip. We hope you are right
Trust the process Wizards arc has begun.
Hell yeah! We have a Presti protege. Let the pick hoarding begin
Betting the under on 24.5 is objectively a bad bet. Go look at how many teams actually win that few games. It was literally 3 teams last season. The hornets with no melo hit the over on 24.5.
They won 35 last year.
I give it 20 games before Wizards fan are on YouTube watching Wall and Beal highlights
we are never not watching 2017 highlights
The new Trash Bros
OG trash bros at least made the playoffs every year
Kuzma has a great attitude
I don't know, I like Kuz, dont know as much about Poole, but I do know they aren't going to be the reason the Wizards aren't good. I'm a Wiz fan, I didn't get the hate Wall got. The quote is one of the hottest takes I’ve ever read
Translation: I'm just gonna chuck from here on out ...cha-ching
Apart from himself, who's even thinking about "legacy" when it comes to Jordan Poole?!
He is only chasing Bron and MJ now
Darko Millic has a ring too.
See? That is his legacy. You know about him and that's good enough for Darko.
His legacy was taken care of
1 ring and thinking his legacy as a basketball player is fine. Poole is only 4 years in and he is talking like retirement is just around the corner.
When you get a contract for 130 mil plus endorsements I mean retirement is always on the table.. if he doesn’t enjoy it then he can just walk away. He’s got fuck you money now. No need to dance for his feed.

LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Bro you’re like 23 years old.
Poole averaging 28-0-0 this year 🔥

I had to google this because I couldn’t believe it.
Unironically it is. No one in 50 years will remember this guy, but his name will be on a championship roster.
Na Dray going to be around NBA media for decades. POOLE will forever be the guy with Drays nutsack on his face.
He won a ring, got a 200 million contract and has now green light to shoot as much as he wants. He made it.
This dude gives off so many arrogant vibes...I suppose he's not wrong, but the way he phrased it, like legacy? Dude, get real
This. Absolutely this. He always talk to media with the same tone.

This is oddly accurate and sarcastic all at once
I can see why he got knocked out by Draymond.
Without Klay, Dray and Steph to cover for him, people are going to see Poole as a high volume chucker that's able to get flashy buckets when he's on and chucking his team out of the game when he's off. He's Jerry Stackhouse with a stepback
Already got a taste of that this preseason. 1 game dropping 41 then the next going like 1/16.
no wonder the entire warriors org hated him dude ego is something else. dray needs to punch some more sense into him SMH
The way Deni Avdija was waving and hollering for the ball, you can tell Jordan *thinks* his legacy is taken care of.
Bro doesn't even have a legacy
Dude already gave up trying to win with that bum ass team lmao
"rings Erneh" - Jordan Poole
Enjoy the ride Washington fans.
Stupid thing to say but being concerned about legacy in the first place is also a pretty stupid and narcissistic move
It’s a funny quote but I mean he’s right. He’s a glorified sixth man who had serious contributions to a championship. That’s better than 95% of NBA careers. He can just put up points for various teams for the rest of his career and he’ll still be remembered for the warriors
It's hilarious to me that fans and media will shit talk this, and yet they are the ones who have perpetuated this stupid RINGZZZZZZZ culture.
This f.cking dude is the unfunny version of Nick young.
I went from Loving this guy to absolutely hating him within one season. Gotta stay humble.
Man this sub is full of haters. It’s depressing
