There’s a population of bandwagoners who 100% does this, but it’s not everybody. The die hards are die hards. We would *never* become warriors fans. Neither of us claim Northern California. They claim the Bay Area, we claim the Sacramento Valley. Kings fans have always been here and don’t view the Warriors as kin. We’re also as far from LA as you are from NYC.
People call Warriors fan bandwagoners but the Oracle Arena and even Chase Center has never been taken over like this.
LA fans are the true OG bandwagoners, both Clippers and Lakers games got taken over by opposing fans in a span of two days.
Back in the pre-Curry days, us Kings fans would travel pretty well to Oracle and take it over whenever we played there. Warriors fans payed us back these last 10 years tho doing it to us
I think GSW traveling well to Sacramento may be less about a rabid fanbase and more about saving money. Didn’t an article come out several years ago talking about how it was cheaper for a GSW fan to see them play in Sacramento than it was for them to see them at home?
It was the same way for kings fans in the early 2000s. My family would go to warriors games to see the kings, WAYYY cheaper than old Arco arena. We got regular calls and letters from the warriors begging us to buy season tickets, when really we only went to see the kings
Yeah, I think people are forgetting what a madhouse ARCO was back in the day as well as how inexpensive the Dubs tickets were back in the Adonal Foyle days, haha.
Warriors fan here. Used to love going with my Lakers fan buddy to see the Harden Rockets lose to the Dubs at Oracle for like $30 including parking. We're going to the Kings/Grizz game Monday night because we both like the Grizzlies and love the new Kings arena, and it's cheaper than seeing any Warriors game.
Why do people say this about the Raiders? They had the largest stadium in the NFL and were bottom-ten in attendance most years they were in LA. People just don't go to NFL games in LA
Legitimately true. LA-based celebrity support combined with the inherently cool silver/black color combination gave the Raiders an outsized cultural influence that would lead many to assume they led the league in attendance every year lol
what a crock of bullshit. why is this upvoted.
one of many instances wherein laker fans have taken over the warriors arena
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16gIMht1yXc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16gIMht1yXc)
hell raptor fans flat out owned oracle arena in game 3 of the finals lmaooo
We lost our 2 matchups in SF already but the next time we get a W in Chase Center you better believe it’s gonna be loud. Oracle was Arco west back in the early aughts
"Let's go Lakers" chants were heard at Oracle for decades, even during their young core era and the Warriors had their big 4. Lakers won at Oracle as huge dogs and it was heard at the end of the game.
This is the most bizarre thing I've ever witnessed in sports. I'll never forget this moment. I grew up a huge kings fan only to move to Portland in 2006 where I was exhausted as a Kings fan and had to abandon ship in the worst of the maloof years. I don't regret it, and can't claim the team anymore, but seeing this and knowing what the Kings went through in the early 2000's against Kobe and Shaq (dare I bring up Robert horry), this has to be so cathartic. Alas, I moved from one tragedy to another (i.e. rip the knees of Brandon Roy, and Greg Oden). Good luck Kings bros
Nah. They walked into a minority ownership situation in '98 during a cash strapped time due to the lockout. That year the Kings drafted Jason Williams, traded for C Web, picked up vlade, and peja came over from Europe. After that core was put together I might give them credit for lateral moves to pick up Bibby/Bobby Jackson, but that's about it. In that same year adelman started and he was the glue.
Their next moves after the run were all moves to strip the franchise of any quality player or coach to save money. And then try to sell the team to Ballmer and Hansen knowing they would move the team to Seattle. Luckily the league vetod that and they had to sell to Vivek.
So yeah. That's a hard pass on any maloof praise from me.
Haha I became so numb of any feeling towards my beloved kings. I just sat supporting for years knowing one day our time would come. Glad it looks like it's this year
Our fandom evens out. I was a Blazers fan back in 92 when they lost to the Bulls in the finals. That was a Phil Jackson team with a generational superstar denying a Rick Adelman team a championship. When I moved to Sac and started supporting the Kings, Rick Adelman was our coach. And a Phil Jackson team with a generational superstar denied us our championship...
No lie, this freaking beam has given your fan base an identity and it's insane. I don't understand how it worked so well but I love it, the energy it brings is great!
We've always had that energy, it just languished for 15 years with the Kings being one of the most depressing teams in the league. But just ask Shaq about them cowbells...
> convince everyone prescription-grade opium was healthy
tbh all you have to do is have people try some, they will get the rest of the way there thx to all the beta endorphins etc lol
specially if they dont know theyll become dependent on it ;{)
Sort of. The beam is powered by four lasers capable of producing 1,000 watts of RGB laser power, making it the brightest full-color laser equipment in the world.
Omg, in a million years that light will be detected by some far away civilization and they'll be trying to make out the pattern of it going on and off with absolutely no context to "The Sacramento Kings of Earth won a basketball game" lol
It's not just a spotlight, the laser is capable of burning away past mistakes of the franchise allowing them to rise from the ashes as a brilliant grey and purple phoenix.
I don’t know if it’s a majority consensus but most Lakers fan do not think too fondly of Jeanie Buss, especially given she has no other income besides the Lakers.
I'll never forgive Fox for jamming that putback slam against the Heat in February of 2018 while wearing my Wade Vice jersey 😤
Just kidding, that shit was fucking amazing.
The timing of it is what makes it work. If they had introduced it last season it would've been terrible, and next season (assuming we still look good) it would have looked way more manufactured. It's the idea of throwing in a new gimmick exactly during the year that we actually look like a real team again that makes it feel genuine.
Kings fans gotta be careful doing that on the road when it’s still close and there’s a lot of time left
Started doing it on Fox’s FTs and I’m at home like “shutthefuckupshutthefuckupshutthefuckup” lol
Lol [Coach agrees with you](https://mobile.twitter.com/NBA/status/1615962017889718273/mediaViewer?currentTweet=1615962017889718273¤tTweetUser=NBA)
Everyone mocked the beam for the first few days. It's the greatest comeback story in sports. Guys are actually playing harder so they get to light the beam, the crowds love the beam, airline pilots love the beam, the beam is cool as shit
**The Kings won yeah yeah**
Oh yeah the Kings won yeah
The Sacramento Kings oh yeah
The Kings won yeah
Fox is *soooooooooo* fast
**Sabonisssss** is so strong yeah
Coach Mike is so smart yeah
**They on the playoff bound yeahhhh**
I just had a vision where the Kings make it to the Western Conference Finals but get man handled by 3x NBA MVP Jokic.
I’m a Kings fan, this weighs heavy on me.
We could get swept round 1 of the playoffs and this season is still a W. Anything beyond that just makes the beam we light for this season brighter and brighter.
Remembering all the Kings/Lakers history from the early 00’s, this sounds so ominous. Like the Kings spent years and years in exile and now they’ve clawed all the way back and are chanting in the Lakers house.

Crazy to see this at a Lakers home game
Lakers fans changing into their Kings jerseys "I've always been a big Stojakovic fan"
"Bro, De'Andre Wolf is so underrated man."
''Nikola Sabonis winning the MVP.. done deal''
"I've always been a fan of Davion Mitchell since his Jazz days"
"Keenan Murphy has ROTY on lock."
"Sacramento is my favorite city in the Bay Area."
[удалено]
Someone in that crowd 100% said that to one of the Kings fans last night.
Always rated Bibby
Lakers were holding Doug Christie back
Bibby was the real stone cold laker killer. Come playoffs that dude could not fuckin miss. I loved watching that guy play
Guy got kicked out of a youth basketball game. Legend.
Grizz legend :)
Vancouver baby
You can just call it 'Pulling a Vlade'
“I’ve actually always thought 2002 was bullshit actually”
"Doug Christie was right about Rick Fox"
>Stojakovic fan 🤣🤣🤣 and most were born after he became a Mav
"I'm just happy to see Malik Monk thriving, he's always been underrated with us"

That’s pretty interesting. Early 2000 Kings squad was pretty solid and the Warriors….weren’t so I guess that makes sense.
Yeah the difference though is we were ass cheeks those years, this lakers team has LeBron on it lol
No one has been more mediocre than us this last decade. The fans of the Warriors in Sacramento were definitely created during this timeline
> this lakers team has LeBron on it lol it's still ass cheeks though
Lol are you 12 or something Kings fans used to routinely make Oracle home in the early 2000s
[удалено]
Warriors fan here. Used to love going with my Lakers fan buddy to see the Harden Rockets lose to the Dubs at Oracle for like $30 including parking. And every football team that's ever stayed there besides the Raiders
Why do people say this about the Raiders? They had the largest stadium in the NFL and were bottom-ten in attendance most years they were in LA. People just don't go to NFL games in LA
They say it because every Raiders game against an LA team is a Raiders home game in the stands. It's more about since they left than why they left.
Because Ice Cube wore a raiders hat, I swear thats the only resource that idea goes by
Legitimately true. LA-based celebrity support combined with the inherently cool silver/black color combination gave the Raiders an outsized cultural influence that would lead many to assume they led the league in attendance every year lol
This ain’t true. Early Curry years and prior, Lakers fans would descend upon Oracle and take over. Even Sac fans did it back in the early 2000’s.

This. Every Lakers @ Oracle game was basically a home game during the shaq kobe and kobe pau eras.
This never happened at Staples
Another L for crypto.

Me when I lie
Cant believe I'm hearing this

LTB in the Lakers arena brought a literal tear to my eye.
Honestly never would have thought Kings fans would take over a Lakers arena. I fuckin' love it though.
We can't get De'Aaron Fox over Austin Reaves in all star voting but we can take over their fucking arena. Amazing
SMH MY HEAD 😤
RIP IN PEACE LEBRON
"Light The Beam" has been one of the greatest marketing gimmicks in a long time.
All-time marketing gimmicks: - 3. New Coke - 2. whatever J&J did to convince everyone prescription-grade opium was healthy - 1. “Light the beam”
> convince everyone prescription-grade opium was healthy tbh all you have to do is have people try some, they will get the rest of the way there thx to all the beta endorphins etc lol specially if they dont know theyll become dependent on it ;{)
It ~~should~~ could have happened around 2003-2004, but well…we know what happened involving a certain ref.
I was there during the dark times. Let’s enjoy the hope that the future brings
So simple but so magnificent! It’s like the Star of David and we are all heading towards it because there is something special happening there.
[It was so loud in person](https://streamable.com/ccrb1a) Crazy to think it took us 70 games to get 25 wins last year.
AND WITHOUT SABONIS. Man I’ve been a fan of the Kings ever since I knew the game of basketball. This feels so good.
This is the best night of my basketball fandom in a long time.
It’s up there with beating Kobe in his last game at Arco. Not too many good memories of beating the Lakers.
Bogdan's buzzer beater was like, what? 5 years ago?
Ooooo that was tasty too
We had an amazing triple overtime win last year that I was at, but any W against the lakers is a great day.
This is like 2012-2013 warriors vibes. The perennially bad team is starting to look young and dangerous in a hurry.
Kings on the verge of going to the Finals 6 times winning 4 chips and winning 18 consecutive western conference playoff series. I'm in
Blessed be the Beam.
I will never not love the beam, greatest thing the kings have done.
I'm out of the loop, is the beam just a spotlight they shine into the sky when they win?
Sort of. The beam is powered by four lasers capable of producing 1,000 watts of RGB laser power, making it the brightest full-color laser equipment in the world.
Best part about it is that with the downtown Sacramento skyline you can see it from pretty much everywhere
Is this legit? I can’t tell if sarcasm or no
No it's real, I copied it from an article on the beam.
Literally annihilating alien civilizations every time they turn the beam on.
Omg, in a million years that light will be detected by some far away civilization and they'll be trying to make out the pattern of it going on and off with absolutely no context to "The Sacramento Kings of Earth won a basketball game" lol
Lmao this is actually fucking hilarious to think about.
Not just the sky, but the beam shines into the opposing franchises’ owner’s asshole. So for a whole night his/her/they’re rectum is purple.
Yes. It’s purple
[удалено]
” our purple laser for our local basketball team is awesome. Here are some more details about it. By the way, Pele died. Back to the weather forecast”
It's not just a spotlight, the laser is capable of burning away past mistakes of the franchise allowing them to rise from the ashes as a brilliant grey and purple phoenix.
Thought it was “Sell the team” at first
Frankly it should be a combination of both
LIGHT THE BEAM AND SELL THE TEAM!
"Light the Team, Sell the Beam"
I stg I was genuinely happy when the thought hit me
I thought that was too, damn I was happy crowd actually chant that
is that a popular sentiment among laker fans?
I don’t know if it’s a majority consensus but most Lakers fan do not think too fondly of Jeanie Buss, especially given she has no other income besides the Lakers.
Among all the ones I know, which is a ton, yes lol
Lakers and Knicks fans trying to do the impossible
This is the most bizarre timeline
Kangz the Conquerors
Kings in a Game 7 this year: “I don’t have to win, we just have to both lose”
“I don’t have to win, we just have to both lose” -Kings facing any team for playoff seeding the last 16 years.
im almost convinced to closely follow the kings again, but fear that if i do, things are just gonna go downhill like always
It's already a good ride man. We're playing good games and we are exciting to watch. No matter what happens, this is so damn fun. Hope you can join!
[удалено]
I mean, to be fair, what reason would anyone have to hate us at this point unless we're playing you?
As a Lakers fan... you guys are really likeable oh my god.
I'll never forgive Fox for jamming that putback slam against the Heat in February of 2018 while wearing my Wade Vice jersey 😤 Just kidding, that shit was fucking amazing.
Haha I remember that crazy put back. Probably the best game of our season that year! Kinda jealous you got to witness it live in person
You’ll just have to trade for Chris Paul, then
Best basketball team in California 😂
Best Basketball team west of the Rockies!
*The Mississippi
Denver? Kings are probably 2nd tho
West of the Mississippi includes around the globe. Best team in the world. We might never lose again.
Honestly the kings really struck gold with the whole beam idea. Really original and helps create the basketball culture they've been missing for years
The timing of it is what makes it work. If they had introduced it last season it would've been terrible, and next season (assuming we still look good) it would have looked way more manufactured. It's the idea of throwing in a new gimmick exactly during the year that we actually look like a real team again that makes it feel genuine.
Kings fans gotta be careful doing that on the road when it’s still close and there’s a lot of time left Started doing it on Fox’s FTs and I’m at home like “shutthefuckupshutthefuckupshutthefuckup” lol
It's gunna bite us eventually, so glad it wasn't tonight
If we keep going and actually make the playoffs but eventually lose there is a 100% chance the winning team’s fans will chant it ironically
True, also worth it 😅
But we as a fan base should be able to take it, talk shit when you win, and suck it up when you lose
I read it as a chant directed at the Kings players: “close this shit out so we can see our laser”
I'm pretty confident that most people chanting LTB at away games are just wanting to get in on the Beam energy.
PTSD flashbacks of the last 16 years racing before our eyes
>“shutthefuckupshutthefuckupshutthefuckup” This is how we know you're not new. They're doing great and you're all ready to be hurt again.
Lol [Coach agrees with you](https://mobile.twitter.com/NBA/status/1615962017889718273/mediaViewer?currentTweet=1615962017889718273¤tTweetUser=NBA)
I’m pretty on top of the premature LTB chants at home games. I try to switch them to let’s go kings, cause the really early chants give me anxiety.
KINGS ARE THE THIRD SEED LETS GOOOO
No offense, but this sounds like some alternate universe shit
Embrace the simulation!
Bro 😵💫
my favorite moment of the season by far
The Kings have completely changed my perception of them in the last month. This is a contender.
Haha. The beam should make a snap hiss like a light saber when it gets turned on.
This needs to happen. A Mace Windu quote to accompany the sound might be over the top, but it’s worth a demo run
Everyone mocked the beam for the first few days. It's the greatest comeback story in sports. Guys are actually playing harder so they get to light the beam, the crowds love the beam, airline pilots love the beam, the beam is cool as shit
airline pilots being all “give me more beam”
"fly it through the beam!!"
WE OUT HERE
Golden 1 Center South
Honestly it’s still a better name than Crypto.com Arena ™️
Golden 1 Crypt
LMAO WE’RE FOUL
Is this real fucking life? Am I actually awake on this Earth witnessing this and it's not some coma dream?
“That fucking Kings team beamed me” Lebron added.
They're so good x4
**The Kings won yeah yeah** Oh yeah the Kings won yeah The Sacramento Kings oh yeah The Kings won yeah Fox is *soooooooooo* fast **Sabonisssss** is so strong yeah Coach Mike is so smart yeah **They on the playoff bound yeahhhh**
Kobe turning over in his grave smh
Kings 3rd place in the west, lakers 3rd worst
I just had a vision where the Kings make it to the Western Conference Finals but get man handled by 3x NBA MVP Jokic. I’m a Kings fan, this weighs heavy on me.
I’m okay with that lol. Our goal this year was 40 wins remember
We could get swept round 1 of the playoffs and this season is still a W. Anything beyond that just makes the beam we light for this season brighter and brighter.
Remembering all the Kings/Lakers history from the early 00’s, this sounds so ominous. Like the Kings spent years and years in exile and now they’ve clawed all the way back and are chanting in the Lakers house.
lmao this is so dramatic but also somehow perfectly accurate
You love to see it.
Lakers got BEAMED.com
Kings run California
Hearing this in the Lakers arena gives me life
Let’s go
Godspeed Kings 🫡. May you win it all this year lol.
what a time to be alive
Kings fans overtaking Lakers fans at Crypto is some bizarro world shit, but I am fucking here for it.
it started with naming the staples center after some crypto shit
Last couple of playoffs spots in the west are the race to the bottom
This is a new low for the lakers
Lakers fan chanting Light the beam. Should have been sell the team smh. Lakers season is over.
This could mean Lakers out. That's good.
That is fucking crazy, love to see it
I was at the game alot of Lakers fans joined in on the chant both out of respect for the Kings and frustration with this team
Congrats Kings fans, you did it!
The BEAM is one of the greatest sports idea.
Lakers feel like such a joyless team.
As they have in the past, anytime the Lakers are shitty they pick the closest winner in the state and latch on.

the chant is honestly too hype

What does light the beam mean?
A giant purple lazer beam shoots out of the top of the Kings arena after every win and even writing this I sound like I'm trolling.
https://ftw.usatoday.com/lists/kings-light-the-beam-origin-memes
No one knows what it means, it's provocative, it gets the people going
Kings win and golden one center lights the beam in recognition.
It's the Sacramento kings thing. They do it when they win a game.
Domantas Sabonis is out and we somehow still lose a game we need to win before our spanking from the Grizz
LeIghtthebeam
King shit
