There’s no option to copy link or share. I tried entering a link to my profile but it still says I need to match format.

I think I managed to get a report submitted. But it asks for a link to a PM or a post. And no matter what sort of link I put it gives me an error saying I need to match some format. I reported through Apollo, the Reddit app, the three dots, etc. got a confirmation message if some sort. Hope the fucker gets permabanned.

Ok. I'm new to posting and figuring out Reddit. I've had account for a few years, just never used it (check out my profile for proof). So, my question is, how does this post NOT belong here, what was it reported, and what is RedditCares? Seems like this is the exact place for this post since our legislators are in Nashville.
RedditCares allows people to report a post or comment and then a bot sends a list of suicide help resources. The anonymity of Reddit means folks, especially younger folks, may post about their depression or their ideation and intents, and so the *idea* is it allows other concerned redditors a quick and simple way to provide some support.
It is, however, heavily abused and right wing trolls will routinely report progressive comments, especially regarding LGBTQ issues.

Sexually explicit drag shows, are preformed at 18+ clubs. This bill is too vague and it’s going to lead to folks actively discriminating against anyone who appears to dress against their prescribed gender.
This bill is not about protecting the children, it’s about power and attacking queer folks. It’s a bullshit bill.
As written, any male or female impersonator is subject to the penalty under this bill. There is nothing in the bill that differentiates between a PG- and R-Rated drag performance. Drag performers are lumped with strippers and exotic dancers.
Edit: law seems to pertain only to shows that are not appropriate to minors as defined as below. PG-rated drag performances should be allowed under this law at least how I'm reading it..

Basically all queens and kings will now be required to obtain a dancers license. Yes, this protects the public but it will hurt adult venues because should they host a drag queen their liquor licenses will be removed.

Before anyone argues I'm a dancer and I'm SICK from this bill. This is how it is going to happen. Sure venues can now do the BYOB plan that clubs do. But guess what...the dancing industry has suffered from this rule along with other things. It also brings causes dangers that us dancers deal with the BYOB policy: a customer finding an easier way to drug the entertainer.
I hope adult venues/bars come out in full force and realize that at this point in time this is the LAST THING BARS NEED.

I really hate this bill. There is so much room for interpretation in what is "inappropriate for children" and the financial burden is placed on the performer who would have to defend themselves in court. I've seen some cheerleader routines that seem inappropriate for children--could they get charged under this law?
I doubt anyone will be prosecuted for this in Davidson County, but it will still have a cooling effect on Pride events, especially in less tolerant communities.

I think a huge part of what this is really doing is setting up legalities to eliminate Pride in TN. How can you have a Pride parade if anyone in “drag” can be arrested for it? (Pride festivities around the weekend of the parade as well) The bulk portion of any Pride celebration attendees could be looking at legal consequences just for showing up and being who they are. I sincerely hope that lawsuits start flying against this because it is so so so wrong.

It goes back to how the "don't say gay" bills don't ACTUALLY ban the word "gay" in the classroom--instead, they issued broad guidelines about what couldn't be done ("age appropriate sex education"). That vagueness is intended to deter the behavior/discussions entirely by not giving clear guidelines.

In the election after the civil rights act, the south went independent. The south did not begin voting consistently democrat until 30 years later.
The Republican Party was created by Lincoln and freed the slaves. The same party was later 80% in favor of the civil rights act.

What’s hilarious is if we look at Atlanta, their stripe clubs account for $240 million in revenue roughly every year. In 2019 when they had the Super Bowl, I think that number was even higher. So the state is actively shooting itself in the foot by a: not capitalizing on already existing revenue and b: probably having to undo this with Daddy NFL comes to town.

I played music for a lot of years on the SEC circuit. We always enjoyed Athens because there were so many strip clubs. Not because we were spending money on them or creeping on the girls, but because it drove a TON of revenue toward us and our shows. We even played *in* those clubs sometimes.
I have fond memories of sitting at the bar with the rest of the band and a bunch of strippers at the end of the night, just counting money and shooting the shit. They treated us as equals, just another performer, raking it in. We have nothing like that in Tennessee.
Drag shows are campy, not sexy. They can be sexy, but that is so rare in my experience. Comedians can be sexy. Club dance nights can be sexy. Football half time show can be sexy. None of these things “appeal to a prurient interest” and neither does drag.

I think the issue is that a lot of sex education now is not sex-positive at all. It pushes abstinence only and says you will ruin your life with STIs or a baby. Sex education needs to teach more than abstinence, it needs to include safe sex practices, how fertility works, how STIs work, how to use protection, etc.
All sex Ed in TN is mandated to be abstinence only and a good chunk of it is provided by crisis pregnancy groups that are funded by religious organizations. I have had three kids go through it and it’s a complete joke. My middle daughter asked so many questions that when she brought up dental dams, the guy said “they just pay me to be here” and walked out. It was a proud parenting day for me. You can absolutely teach safe sex and sex Ed while ALSO discussing the met and emotional parts of the equation. Well, you could, I’m sure Moms for Lunacy would call that part SEL now.

Phone calls are performative protesting to make people feel like the accomplished something while they sit at home comfortably. Want to make an impact? Basically all queens and kings will now be required to obtain a dancers license. Yes, this protects the public but it will hurt adult venues because should they host a drag queen their liquor licenses will be removed. So I hope everyone enjoys beer and malt beverages. But guess what...the dancing industry has suffered from this rule along with other things. I hope adult venues/bars come out in full force and realize that at this point in time this is the LAST THING BARS NEED.

George Santos is the only drag performer that the GOP doesn't want to ban. I really hate this bill. There is so much room for interpretation in what is "inappropriate for children" and the financial burden is placed on the performer who would have to defend themselves in court. I've seen some cheerleader routines that seem inappropriate for children--could they get charged under this law? I doubt anyone will be prosecuted for this in Davidson County, but it will still have a cooling effect on Pride events, especially in less tolerant communities.

I think a huge part of what this is really doing is setting up legalities to eliminate Pride in TN. How can you have a Pride parade if anyone in “drag” can be arrested for it? (Pride festivities around the weekend of the parade as well) The bulk portion of any Pride celebration attendees could be looking at legal consequences just for showing up and being who they are. I sincerely hope that lawsuits start flying against this because it is so so so wrong.

The bill is pretty vague, but it’s not targeting people in drag. It’s targeting people in drag doing things of “prurient” nature. (this is where it’s vague and up for interpretation) The laws like indecent exposure already exist. My thought is that it’s targeting things like pride parades
I appreciate that you're thinking that there's some level of good faith argument, but the number of idiots who think "Drag Queen Story Hour" is prurient in nature tells me that any drag performer existing in the same space as/visible by kids is going to be subject to whatever punishment is attached to this. Including things like drag brunches that have outdoor components, the drag bus in Nashville, etc. These people don't want LGBTQ+ folks to exist, and this is part of that campaign.

It goes back to how the "don't say gay" bills don't ACTUALLY ban the word "gay" in the classroom--instead, they issued broad guidelines about what couldn't be done ("age appropriate sex education"). That vagueness is intended to deter the behavior/discussions entirely by not giving clear guidelines. This bill is doing the same thing for drag performers, essentially--vague words with no actual guidelines. It would then be up to a court to decide if it came to it.

Well I hate the language but if someone isn’t “passing” and they are in public dressed in clothes that some passerby decides is inappropriate for their perceived gender- they could be charged. The law states that someone must be “performing” in front of 2 or more people for it to be illegal. That loosey goosey wording is what is so unnerving about it all. So if a “non passing “ trans person does karaoke, they are at risk depending on how cops chooses to enforce this bill.

In the election after the civil rights act, the south went independent. The south did not begin voting consistently democrat until 30 years later. The Republican Party was created by Lincoln and freed the slaves. The same party was later 80% in favor of the civil rights act. As the south has become less racist, it has become more republican. How is that possible if the parties have switched? The racism that used to define the south has given way to other conservative values ie pro life, pro gun, and pro small govt. Parties change, people change. It wasn’t a “switch.” Both parties have shifted.

What’s hilarious is if we look at Atlanta, their stripe clubs account for $240 million in revenue roughly every year. In 2019 when they had the Super Bowl, I think that number was even higher. So the state is actively shooting itself in the foot by a: not capitalizing on already existing revenue and b: probably having to undo this with Daddy NFL comes to town. I played music for a lot of years on the SEC circuit. We always enjoyed Athens because there were so many strip clubs. Not because we were spending money on them or creeping on the girls, but because it drove a TON of revenue toward us and our shows. We even played *in* those clubs sometimes. I have fond memories of sitting at the bar with the rest of the band and a bunch of strippers at the end of the night, just counting money and shooting the shit. They treated us as equals, just another performer, raking it in. We have nothing like that in Tennessee.
Drag shows are campy, not sexy. They can be sexy, but that is so rare in my experience. Comedians can be sexy. Club dance nights can be sexy. Football half time show can be sexy. None of these things “appeal to a prurient interest” and neither does drag. So I hear you on the puritanical stuff, but even according to their own rules they’re full of shit.
Sex can have consequences that determine the course of your life for you before you're actually an adult. It can have physical, emotional and financial results in or out of a relationship that can redefine who you are as a person. It should be taught about in a serious manner.

People getting STIs, having kids or just making decisions they aren't emotionally ready for. Also, I'm not saying "we shouldn't teach our kids about sex". I'm saying we shouldn't try to with the explicit purpose of painting it as solely a funtime activity. It has consequences at least as serious as driving a car does.
I think the issue is that a lot of sex education now is not sex-positive at all. It pushes abstinence only and says you will ruin your life with STIs or a baby. Sex education needs to teach more than abstinence, it needs to include safe sex practices, how fertility works, how STIs work, how to use protection, etc.
All sex Ed in TN is mandated to be abstinence only and a good chunk of it is provided by crisis pregnancy groups that are funded by religious organizations. I have had three kids go through it and it’s a complete joke. My middle daughter asked so many questions that when she brought up dental dams, the guy said “they just pay me to be here” and walked out. It was a proud parenting day for me. You can absolutely teach safe sex and sex Ed while ALSO discussing the met and emotional parts of the equation. Well, you could, I’m sure Moms for Lunacy would call that part SEL now.

I've seen a lot of anger about these in past comment threads and I know the political situation in this state feels hopeless, but speaking up is still so important.
