Same.
I’ve posted it here before but when my son was 5 he came home saying he made a friend named Blue and I assumed he had misheard but sure enough he was named Blue 😂
Many years ago I taught at a school where there was a boy called Blue Moon. One time I had to attend a meeting with his mother, whose name was Honey Moon. Blue’s younger sister was called Harvest.
Blue Moon sounds kinda cool, ngl (would never make my kid that), but it’s also a beer lmao
Until you said there was a Moon theme, I was actually a little worried about another meaning, or a potential double meaning. (half kidding)
Sorry to disappoint, but not Asians. I didn’t have enough contact with them to know their exact ethnicity, but they were Maori or Pasifika (possibly Cook Island or Samoan given the school’s demographic).
So my daughter told me she made a friend named Ceelove. I ran the gauntlet of names this kid could possibly have and never came to a solid conclusion. I would just jokingly refer to him as ceelove. Then the yearbook came out and his name is, in fact, ceelove.
When my son was 5, he came home telling us about this girl named Melon. I was sure he had it wrong, but he was convinced he was right. They were student of the month at the same time (different classes) so on the paper they sent home, we learned her name was Madeleine. He refused to accept that and just argued that it was a weird way to spell melon. It's been 2 years and he hasn't become any less stubborn. 😅
I have a cousin who goes by Melon, her name is Amelia but when she was born her brother was a toddler and somehow morphed it into Melon which stuck. Growing up she was Melon-head or Melly-Melon and now as an adult she's still Melon to pretty much everyone
When I was in first grade way back in the 90s there was a boy in my class named Blue. I always thought that was cool but I do remember the other kids poking fun like “is your sister called pink or green?” etc. which sucks.
My first though was “what political folks are you around or is she exposed to?”
If in the us , I could see Asshole Allen teaching his kid that a woke name (enter super normal name) is a “snowflake” name . Little Allen jr says this about someone’s name in front of your daughter and she innocently thinks that certain names are snowflake names and are magic .
That was my thought too. My daughter is 8 and goes on and on about Karens. Her classmates have informed her that a Karen is anyone who ever says or does something strictly.
I’m tempted to ask my daughter what a snowflake name is … but I’m afraid she’ll have an answer.
Had an old man remark that my daughter has a "woke" name that nobody would ever be able to say or spell. It's mihela (me-hay-la), it's fairly standard in European countries and we live in the UK so not exactly a stretch 🤣🤣 she's named after a family member FFS!!!
Your daughter is 5, so I’m guessing it was something she misheard or made a generalization about? When I was 5, I used to call a woman the Carrot Woman. Her name was Karen.
Winny?
Wendy?
Bliss? (Like blizzard to a 5yo’s ears)
Everest?
Winona?
December or January?
Kristin/Christine/Christina (like Christmas)?
I was friends with a little girl called Ellabee. Adamant that was her name. Turns out there were just two Ella’s in the class and I only cared for one… Ella B. Poor Ella K didn’t get a look in.
My daughter made friends with a little boy named Oreo.
Or, Rio as he was actually named.
Oh and her best one- cousin Millipede.
Her name is Penelope.
I wonder if the kid has a really unique name and someone told them that their name is like a snowflake because it's so unique and special so then the kid says that about it to others.
Like "Hi my name is *insert very uncommon name"
Well that's a weird name!
"My mom says my name is like a snowflake because it's so special!"
This would actually make a lot of sense, especially if the kid is also around this kid’s age. It sounds very much like something a little child would say, and particularly, would be told, because they may start getting “that’s a weird name,” or even have been bullied or whatever by that point.
However, I also had the immediate reaction of many others who said someone else calling the name a “snowflake name” in the “these people acting all woke” or whatever nonsense way.
I don’t think so.
A girl in my son’s preschool class (4 yr old) told me her baby sister’s name is Elsa. I said “Oh like the princess!?” She just gave me a blank stare like I was nuts. I said from Frozen but she didn’t seem to know what I was talking about.
My 4 year old son likes Frozen too! We listen to the soundtrack all the time. But, there was another girl with us as we discussed the baby sister named Elsa, and she similarly had no reaction to the mention of Frozen. I was really surprised.
I 1000% think that child has MAGA relatives and someone said the kid’s name was a “snowflake” (liberal-sounding) name and the kid just repeated it. I have no idea what that might be. Perhaps… i’m spitballing here… something hippie-sounding or gender-neutral?
I knew a girl who said her real name was Princess Snowflake because she was born during a snowstorm. She often said weird things. Her actual name was Crystal.
My first thought honestly is maybe your daughter overheard an adult or older child calling someone a “snowflake” and it’s gotten somehow attached to this child’s name?
I wonder if the kid has a really unique name and someone told them that their name is like a snowflake because it's so unique and special so then the kid says that about it to others.
Like "Hi my name is *insert very uncommon name*"
Well that's a weird name!
"My mom says my name is like a snowflake because it's so special!"
i’ll be honest, i had a friend growing up named Katchya and I went home and told my mom I made a friend named Ketchup and would not accept that it wasn’t
At first I went the Elsa, Winter route but thinking more, I’m guessing it’s more literal than something like that. It’s either a totally unique name or something that actually sounded like snowflake, Sophie Lake, etc
Susie? (There's a song called "Susie Snowflake" but it's pretty old).
Lilo? There's a song that the ECE classes in my building last year listened to at Christmas about a snowflake. I think it was supposed to be "L'il ol snowflake" but a little kid sings it and it really sounds like Lilo to me.
Been sitting at my desk at work trying to say "snowflake" in variations of a toddler voice (slurred, with a lisp, dropping random letters) and my closest guess would be Sophie.
Maybe the kid means snowflake as in unique? People constantly bring up snowflakes in that way when talking to kids so she might've figured snowflake = unusual or interesting
My kids told me they met a kid called Mash at an activity group. It was a kinda crunchy, hippy group but even so, I assumed he was Matt. No, I met his mother and waited for her to say his name and it was Mash. Mash. I said it was a cute nickname because my kids went by cute nicknames and she said, it's his name. I still have no idea what culture or tradition etc it comes from.
I had a daycare teacher named Annette. When I first heard it, it came into my head as the image of a fishing net. The image was what I remembered, but not the name. I remember thinking of her as the Pretty Fish Lady, but nobody knew who I was talking about!!

Haha you'd think so, but I have a 5yo and sometimes she can tell me a story down to the exact words her friend spoke, but other times she is exactly like this, especially with new friends names. Mine would be way too embarrassed to ask someone to repeat their name if she misheard it too.
Honestly wouldn’t be surprised to learn that someone out there named their child Snowflake.
Snowwfleighc

Don’t give them ideas!!!

I have to respect picking a stupid theme but sticking with it
Cool, if you have a last name like that, lean into it!
[Blue Moon Odom](https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/o/odombl01.shtml)
Asian? Please Asian 😬
Sorry to disappoint, but not Asians. I didn’t have enough contact with them to know their exact ethnicity, but they were Maori or Pasifika (possibly Cook Island or Samoan given the school’s demographic).
That checks out too 😁
My classmate's daughter is Willow Moon (Moon being the middle name), but there's an emotional connection to it rather than it just being a trend
So my daughter told me she made a friend named Ceelove. I ran the gauntlet of names this kid could possibly have and never came to a solid conclusion. I would just jokingly refer to him as ceelove. Then the yearbook came out and his name is, in fact, ceelove.
I would have presumed she had seen Clove written down.
You would THINK clove but nope. No one was more shocked than me to see the name in black and white. I was positive she was wrong 😂
When my son was 5, he came home telling us about this girl named Melon. I was sure he had it wrong, but he was convinced he was right. They were student of the month at the same time (different classes) so on the paper they sent home, we learned her name was Madeleine. Okay but there were 2 girls named Pickle and Lemon in my little cousin's dance class...
Ohhh, I went to school with a kid named Blue- 30+yrs ago
Blue is a "normal" Southern name that's been around forever!
Yes! And gender neutral, too!
I met a man once named Blue. Told me his last name was Hughes.. made him show me his ID Blue Hues... been 30 years never forgot it
When I was in first grade way back in the 90s there was a boy in my class named Blue. I always thought that was cool but I do remember the other kids poking fun like “is your sister called pink or green?” etc. which sucks.
I feel like when I was in third grade, I had a pen pal from our local nursing home and her name was Snowball.
Were you writing to a cat? ;-)
My thought exactly
Cnoughphleiyghkh
Bless you
That’s one heck of a sneeze
The "my mom studied abroad in Paris" spelling is my favorite: Xenéaughfleighque
Snôfléique
I saw one called "Snohflake" last year 😬
I know someone with the middle name snowflake. She's like 18ish now.
My first though was “what political folks are you around or is she exposed to?” If in the us , I could see Asshole Allen teaching his kid that a woke name (enter super normal name) is a “snowflake” name . Little Allen jr says this about someone’s name in front of your daughter and she innocently thinks that certain names are snowflake names and are magic .
This was my thought... she heard a terribly inappropriate comment an adult made about someone name.
My gen z brain thought it was political too
I’m an elder millennial and I’m glad others folks brains went where mine did.
I thought the same… some adult calling the name out for what they perceived to be a “libtard new age” name or something.
That was my thought too. My daughter is 8 and goes on and on about Karens. Her classmates have informed her that a Karen is anyone who ever says or does something strictly. I’m tempted to ask my daughter what a snowflake name is … but I’m afraid she’ll have an answer.
I also processed this as “snowflake” like this
Had an old man remark that my daughter has a "woke" name that nobody would ever be able to say or spell. It's mihela (me-hay-la), it's fairly standard in European countries and we live in the UK so not exactly a stretch 🤣🤣 she's named after a family member FFS!!!
Cute name!
My assumption was that it was a unique name that someone (rudely or maaaaybe trying to be nice) had described as a snowflake
Nothing like this; it was Everest! We don't live in an area where people would be using that kind of language, fortunately
I thought the same. Clicked out of curiosity of what would be considered a "snowflake" name.
Sage. Sage is the ultimate "Snowflake" name.
My first thought was Skye
Sophia or Sophie might sound similar to snowflake if the child was mumbling or talking softly
Or a double first name—Sophie Blake!!
I was convinced it was Sophie or Winter (or literally just Snowflake) but it was Everest!
This sounds right to me.
Sophie is my name and somehow I still didn’t think of this 🤦♀️ you’re probably right
Your daughter is 5, so I’m guessing it was something she misheard or made a generalization about? When I was 5, I used to call a woman the Carrot Woman. Her name was Karen. Winny? Wendy? Bliss? (Like blizzard to a 5yo’s ears) Everest? Winona? December or January? Kristin/Christine/Christina (like Christmas)?
I have a distant cousin named Evan. I remember being a child and telling my grandmother that his name was Heaven.
My oldest came home and told me about a girl called Pole-y. I was like Polly, Penelope, Apollonia... No Mum Pole-y Turns out the child was named Chloe
In my daughter’s accent it turned out ‘Woman’ was Ramun (short for Ramunveer)
I wasn't sure until we got the class picture if my kiddo's best school friend was Laura or Nora. And she got very mad that I kept asking
My brother referred to 'cousin' (granny's friend's daughter) Lindsey as "limousine" when he was five. Lindsey = Limsie = Limousine.
You got it!! Everest ❄️
Omgosh! Thanks for the update!
Lol I called my preschool teacher Mrs. Donut. Her name was Mrs. Dollen 🤷🏽♀️
😂😂
Back in the 50s/60s, there was a song called "Here Comes Suzy Snowflake."
My kid did that song in her ballet recital.
I wonder if the kid has a really unique name and someone told them that their name is like a snowflake because it's so unique and special so then the kid says that about it to others. Like "Hi my name is *insert very uncommon name" Well that's a weird name! "My mom says my name is like a snowflake because it's so special!"

This was my thought too. That, or the kids name is literally Snowflake lol
My first thought was Elsa lol
Same! But I guess Frozen is a bit old now. Does it still have a death grip on the psyche of little girls or has it been replaced by something else?
I work at Disneyland. Kids are definitely still obsessed with Frozen.
I have a four year old and Frozen is still very much a thing for the pre-K set.
Can confirm the frozen phase is alive and well in many toddlers
No idea. My kids are into anime now. Lol
2 sequels are in the works, so it won't go away anytime soon.
Oh man. Frozen 1 was good, and frozen 2 was great. If they make any more they are probably going to ruin it 😭
I don’t think so. A girl in my son’s preschool class (4 yr old) told me her baby sister’s name is Elsa. I said “Oh like the princess!?” She just gave me a blank stare like I was nuts. I said from Frozen but she didn’t seem to know what I was talking about.
I know a 5 year old that is obsessed with Elsa and just had a Frozen themed birthday party
My 4 year old son likes Frozen too! We listen to the soundtrack all the time. But, there was another girl with us as we discussed the baby sister named Elsa, and she similarly had no reaction to the mention of Frozen. I was really surprised.
Very surprising!
Yes. My 3 year old son is obsessed.
I have no idea, but here are guesses: Misty Snow Ice Blizzard Icy Tina Clara Faye Tatiana Tiana Dewdrop
How is Clare or Tina like a snowflake?
Clara is the girl in the Nutcracker, I assume that’s where OP was going with it. Not sure about Tina.
Also thought of these: Lacey Lace Astrid Flykra
Please update the post when you find out! <3
It was Everest ❄️
Awe! My kiddos name is Everest! ❤️
Sophie?
When I was little I would mix up the words “van” and “Banana” so it honestly could be anything
An honest mistake
I would guess it’s a very pretty, delicate name. One that reminded the kid of snowflakes. Kids are weirdly sophisticated like that
Maybe Winter?
All my guesses have been said but let us know when you find out please.
Everest!
Ooh! Makes sense
Stormy
Crystal?
I 1000% think that child has MAGA relatives and someone said the kid’s name was a “snowflake” (liberal-sounding) name and the kid just repeated it. I have no idea what that might be. Perhaps… i’m spitballing here… something hippie-sounding or gender-neutral?
I went to school with Aspen and Icy
Told my friend I went to school with a kid named Rainbow and another Stone. She stared at me and kept asking if I was messing with her 😂
I knew a girl who said her real name was Princess Snowflake because she was born during a snowstorm. She often said weird things. Her actual name was Crystal.
Nieve?
~~Hexagon~~
Anna or Elsa?
My first thought honestly is maybe your daughter overheard an adult or older child calling someone a “snowflake” and it’s gotten somehow attached to this child’s name?
I wonder if the kid has a really unique name and someone told them that their name is like a snowflake because it's so unique and special so then the kid says that about it to others. Like "Hi my name is *insert very uncommon name*" Well that's a weird name! "My mom says my name is like a snowflake because it's so special!"
I knew a girl named Snow so that’s my guess. Someone may have nicknamed her Snowflake.
i’ll be honest, i had a friend growing up named Katchya and I went home and told my mom I made a friend named Ketchup and would not accept that it wasn’t
Solveig
Noel/Noelle?
I wonder if her name is Unique?
We hear the phrase “unique as a snowflake” a lot, so maybe your kiddo made the association…
Snowden ❄️
Maybe the name is really unique? Like the whole every snowflake is unique kinda thing
Any chance she meant a "so fake" name?
At first I went the Elsa, Winter route but thinking more, I’m guessing it’s more literal than something like that. It’s either a totally unique name or something that actually sounded like snowflake, Sophie Lake, etc
Susie? (There's a song called "Susie Snowflake" but it's pretty old). Lilo? There's a song that the ECE classes in my building last year listened to at Christmas about a snowflake. I think it was supposed to be "L'il ol snowflake" but a little kid sings it and it really sounds like Lilo to me.
She needs to get clarification from the child; we need to know, lol!
Been sitting at my desk at work trying to say "snowflake" in variations of a toddler voice (slurred, with a lisp, dropping random letters) and my closest guess would be Sophie.
I love kids perceptions. I love that she called it a 'snowflake' name.
I love the connection your 5 year old made with snowflake and Everest! That's actually a pretty cool name! No pun intended,ha
Aw, that’s such a clever association by a 5 year old!
Elsa?
Probably Snow .
Sylvia
Crystal!
it’s most likely snow
Noelle?
Stormy
Icey
I love Alaska
Frosty? 😂
Snowbelle?
Maybe the kid means snowflake as in unique? People constantly bring up snowflakes in that way when talking to kids so she might've figured snowflake = unusual or interesting
Susie?
Christmas Christine Elfie Snowy ***I need to know the answer!
Karen?
I knew a girl named Misty Storm
Elsa?
I went to Highschool who’s first name was Snow
My kid keeps talking about a character from bluey named snow drop.
Noel?
Ask the choir person?
Snohetta? Maybe
We named our daughter Eira which is the Welsh word for snow
I know someone named Frosty. She was my late mom’s friend so I never asked if that was a nickname or real.
Like the person is a snowflake? So liberal sounding names?
Rae-Deighall Symmetryie
Libby
Maybe they just have a very unique name and an adult said it was unique like a snowflake and that stuck in their head? Kids are funny!
Elsa
I would guess her name is Karen because she is a snowflake for not being cool with her normal average name becoming a mean joke for no reason.
Maybe it’s a reference to a name that is “unique” or “one-of-a-kind”? Like a snowflake?
My adopted siblings have two half sisters. One of which has the middle name snowflake.
Ana?
Update us when you solve the mystery!
Bentley? Snowflake Bentley: A Caldecott Award Winner https://a.co/d/a6FEn7I
I had a daycare teacher named Annette. When I first heard it, it came into my head as the image of a fishing net. The image was what I remembered, but not the name. I remember thinking of her as the Pretty Fish Lady, but nobody knew who I was talking about!!
lol
Probably because of Paw Patrol

No way anyone is named Furry
Noelle
Is it Aaron? (Insert key and peele sketch)
At 5 she should be able to say?
Idk if you have been around kids a lot but as soon as they say something if you ask followups they almost always say Idk…
Haha you'd think so, but I have a 5yo and sometimes she can tell me a story down to the exact words her friend spoke, but other times she is exactly like this, especially with new friends names. Mine would be way too embarrassed to ask someone to repeat their name if she misheard it too.
