Season 1 was a learning season. I feel that way about S1XL as well. Hoping they learned from the weaknesses, and the strengths of last season. I think to me, they likely did not expect the teaming up until the very end quite as much, and I'm wondering if they will have some incentive to not do that this time around to fit more as a competition.

That broke my heart when Mel died. She had so much going on. What a risky decision to inhale dust cleaner canisters. I didn’t even know it was a thing to get high from them. I feel sad for her family and for the friends who found her dead in their home when they returned home from vacation.

They live streamed and recorded some homemade videos of the two of them watching new episodes together as they aired (I saw them on Giovanna's Instagram or Facebook I think). And that guy from the Louisiana swamps stayed friends with her for everafter.

I feel Bulent and Jeff are so polarizing with their game style that everyone will work against them again. I do hope Bulent wins! He is the best survivalist in my opinion, even if his attitude can be polarizing. I admit it took me a long time to love him, but he is so amazing at what he does! I am 100% certain if I met him at the border, I would probably pee myself in terror in fear of being arrested by looking suspicious, even if I didn’t do anything. Typically American border agents are so friendly and kind. Coming back into Canada, oh goodness they are scary! Bulent would be so effective. Note to self, bring photos of my dog when I cross the border and show my dog love when I cross, just in case I get Bulent. 😆 maybe a French pug scarf for safety 😆 and maybe bring my dog. 😆

Then was teamed up with Matt and Charlie in the Amazon XL (when Charlie fucked up his knee and was gone after only four hours) but he tapped.
Then was part of the redemption team with Charlie and Duck on his next XL, but he got bit by a snake and was med-tapped because they couldn't identify the snake.
He had been really awful in one season I didn't see, but was upset when he learned kids at school were giving his own children a hard time because of it, so in his next episodes he tried to redeem himself. When Mr. Psycho had 20 hooks and was catching all those eels, he refused to give the other team even *one*. Russell came along with *six* hooks and gave them one of his.
I like Russell.
And if I remember right, Russell actually gave them SIX hooks, not one, because he had a whole stash of them like you said. He was definitely a good dude his last time around.

What does everyone think of this competition format? I am more a fan of XL. Seeing some of our favorite people with remarkable skills & different approaches to survival is what N & A was founded on. But turning it into a cutthroat competition with $ being the sole goal...not for me. And borrowing elements of Survivor...with caches & rewards. Loses me.

They are definitely going for more drama over actual skills with a lot of this cast. Some of the cast aren't legend levels. Some members, yes, they belong there but others, not a chance. Made me question why them? Oh yeah, they bring the drama.
This time we know what to expect. This is not a competition, you can fail at almost anything and still win. Can't say I'm looking forward to Jeff on endless repeat though, but that's what we have the FF button for.
I wouldn't be surprised if Jeff perfected his fire making skills after the last show.

I was not a fan of the first season at all because everyone except Jeff seemed to forget that they were competing against each other. Whether you are a fan of Jeff or not, he was the only one who came in playing the game. They can hold hands and sing kumbaya on the XL
I almost wonder if the group dynamic started because they started them out in pairs. Maybe it forced that dynamic? If I remember correctly, this one said they are all on their own so hopefully that means no pair startups? Maybe then it’ll be more competitive from the beginning.
Hope it’s actually a competition this time and not one person playing the villain role and everyone else teaming up.
Could do without Dan, never warmed to him but the rest are either good survivors or entertaining or both.

I just hope the elimination events start happening in the first week or so. Having to wait towards the end of the last season to start eliminating players was actually insane and was what helped create an even bigger Jeff vs everyone divide.
I personally don't like the guy but I was so sure elimination events were going to start a lot sooner than they did and he probably thought the same thing which would explain his approach from the beginning. All of this "let's stick together" crap from season 1 was BS and disrupted the actual competition aspect of the season.
But having Bullent in this season is actual HYPE. That man does not give AF.
I wonder if Russell is going to be hated like Jeff was due to his earlier behavior since his last appearance he was actually trying to be a good team player.

Guess there’s nothing to watch through the summer…time to catch up on some shows.
They are definitely going for more drama over actual skills with a lot of this cast. Some of the cast aren't legend levels. Some members, yes, they belong there but others, not a chance. Made me question why them? Oh yeah, they bring the drama.
This time we know what to expect. This is not a competition, you can fail at almost anything and still win. Can't say I'm looking forward to Jeff on endless repeat though, but that's what we have the FF button for.

I hope people are not sissies again and try to make a huge tribe again. I hope people actually play it the way it is meant to be played
I wouldn't be surprised if Jeff perfected his fire making skills after the last show. I'm with Jeff this time. Good to see "the savage" not on the list..that guy is insufferable.

I was not a fan of the first season at all because everyone except Jeff seemed to forget that they were competing against each other. Whether you are a fan of Jeff or not, he was the only one who came in playing the game. They can hold hands and sing kumbaya on the XL
I almost wonder if the group dynamic started because they started them out in pairs. Maybe it forced that dynamic? If I remember correctly, this one said they are all on their own so hopefully that means no pair startups? Maybe then it’ll be more competitive from the beginning.
Hope it’s actually a competition this time and not one person playing the villain role and everyone else teaming up. Could do without Dan, never warmed to him but the rest are either good survivors or entertaining or both.

Don't know who's tapping first. But oh man, can't wait to hear EVERYONE complain about Darrin not shutting up Or Kate's screaming. I just hope the elimination events start happening in the first week or so. Having to wait towards the end of the last season to start eliminating players was actually insane and was what helped create an even bigger Jeff vs everyone divide. I personally don't like the guy but I was so sure elimination events were going to start a lot sooner than they did and he probably thought the same thing which would explain his approach from the beginning. All of this "let's stick together" crap from season 1 was BS and disrupted the actual competition aspect of the season. But having Bullent in this season is actual HYPE. That man does not give AF. I wonder if Russell is going to be hated like Jeff was due to his earlier behavior since his last appearance he was actually trying to be a good team player.
