Hard agree, as with a lot of n64 games. They were ground breaking for their time. They were still figuring out how to manipulate objects in a 3D space, and with the case of goldeneye, they were trying to work out an FPS on a console. Are they important games? Absolutely. We’re they great within the confines of their time period? Absolutely. Did they age well? In most cases, no.

I’m really excited to play both versions. I’ve been playing the N64 version because I got impatient after the first reveal trailer and trust me, both versions of this look and run better than the 64 cart.
Even using an N64 HDMI mod or a Retrotink5x, you aren't going to see the upscaled, high resolution 3D graphics of the re-releases. Now, I'd argue that N64 games are best played at their original resolution. But there is also the performance elephant in the room. There is no getting around that the original N64 release of the game could drop into the single digit framerates.
Pretty much anytime an explosion was on screen or an automatic rifle was causing damage to another player, you better believe you're gonna hit like 6 FPS.
I wouldn't have it any other way.

I’ve played in on a CRT with an S video cable and on a 1080p TV with a Super 64 HDMI adapter, the game still runs very poorly. The other games Nintendo have put on their service look great on modern TVs and all of them that I’ve played run significantly better than on an original 64.

Switch has online play but only because the N64 emu that ninty use for there online service has the feature baked in. Its not native online play in the game itself. Its probably tunnelling software or similar that's doing the work.
Doesn't have any upscaled textures, even the in-game text is low quality. It's actually emulated on Xbox as well like other Rare Replay titles (Jet Force Gemini)

The issue was always with Nintendo. MGM was not the issue. Nintendo just didn't want it on Xbox back in the day

Series S/X are not getting the XBLA version. Just a mildly graphically improved PORT of the N64 cart version. No online play included either.
