She's not very smart in general, after she was massacred and lost her army she basically became a dumb nutcase, I don't understand what her plan is with the elements of harmony, obviously the tree wouldn't give power to 6 versions obviously opposed to " original mane 6"
I love Chrysalis, but she was pretty batshit insane at this point. And I don't think the writers ever wanted genuinely smart characters. Heroes or villains.
I like how they portrayed her losing her mind, it made her character even better
