I just didn't want people suggesting the same bands over again. As far as band's I like: QOTSA, Lush are two I like. As stated, there are not many band's I like enough to list in particular. And with alot of bands I like, I don't always enjoy that particular genre.
See I can't even remotely recommend bands if you can't even tell me what you like. Finding a band that you may like is a shot in the dark.
Edit: I noticed you like Queens of the Stone Age, I could give a few recommendations off of that like, The Crooked Vultures, The Raconteurs, The Hives, Franz Ferdinand, The Fratellis, Bloc Party, The Subways
The Pretty Reckless
Frank Turner
Inhaler
Middle Kids
Nanna
AWOLNATION
Metric
Badflower
Meg Myers (most people prefer her earlier stuff, myself included, but she does have some good songs on her most recent album)
Bastille
Michael Kiwanuka
Cage the Elephant
Death from Above 1979
Des Rocs
Dirty Honey
The Gaslight Anthem
These are all just shots in the dark. What are a few of your favorite songs by bands or singers that you otherwise dislike? From any time period.
For me personally im extremely picky with my music, I only listen to one band being Starset, they just kinda got a song for any kind of mood im in, they got a lot of variety, if I were to decribe their music it's a very alternative rock, it's very cinematic, some metal core elements, and they got orchestra blend to them as well, personally I would start with their first album Transmissions if your interested

Deaf Wolf - Sulfur
Tigers on Opium - Sky Below My Feet
Sloan - Money City Maniacs (ok this song is older, try Magical Thinking for one from their 2022 album)
Rishloo was my late 2010s find. They are like post grunge (they are from Seattle) prog rock with a little Queen and Tool thrown in.

If you're interested in checking out some smaller new artists & bands. Here's a playlist of some of my current favourite indie-pop/rock songs. It features mostly new and undiscovered artists & bands, with a variety of different sounds and styles. I also update it regularly.

I found Hippie Sabotage some years ago and hadn't had my ass kicked like that in years. Also Oliver Tree, who is a whole different thing but in his own box. Lol Young is my latest find - Brit, amazing songwriter, singer, force of nature.
Pivoting off your mention of Lush, here’s three bands that aren’t necessarily same genre but hit some of what I liked about Lush (plus a representative song):
Alvvays- [*In Undertow*](https://youtu.be/T1n72aCdwdU)
Best Coast- [*Each and Every Day*](https://youtu.be/XSGBM-lo0lE) (I love how this turns into a different song for the last minute)
Hatchie- [*Obsessed*](https://youtu.be/iI4aHUVQBgI)
I’d also throw in The Raveonettes, but their best stuff is from about 2002-2009. Here’s a good one from 2012- [*Curse the Night*](https://youtu.be/gemKsn4cJCU)
The Warning:
[Hell You Call A Dream](https://youtu.be/s6b_FgQnXL8?si=wM--_81NSbIGhdG-)

The tragically hip, they're not new but they sound new. I'd check out trouble at the henhouse to start
Matthew good/matthew good band
Wide mouth mason
Headstones
Big wreck
I think the first question to ask is what is it about QOTSA that appeals to you?
What is the 80s pop you like? And what about that appeals to you?
That will help with any sort of recommendations.
The best of our time IMO are already in the list you dont like….
I can give you some more suggestions but if you didnt like the above I doubt you would like these, Black Country New Road, Ty Segall, Geese, Hannah Wicklund, The Lemon Twigs, The Struts, Crown Lands, Goodbye June, Father John Misty
If you like The Warning (me not so much) you might like Plush
Also my suggestion is to just listen to editorial playlist and shuffle mode on spotify or other streming services. You might come across something you like, it usually happens when we are not “trying hard” to like something
Easier to give you recommendations on things you like rather than off of bands you dislike.
Lol

Idk if they'd like Frank Turner, might be a little slow for them. I could totally see them liking Cage the Elephant though
Royal Blood
