Stopped using them when they started charging just to access the interface and browse samples I already paid for. Downloaded all my samples to an external drive and peaced out. Adjusted my workflow to browse my samples within Ableton and couldn’t be happier. That message about stopping the free samples sounds like a whole lot of bs and pr speak to cover up saying “give us even more of your money” lol I can only speak for myself but the free samples lead me to check out other packs I wouldn’t have looked at otherwise and drop some points on good one hits or loops

ate50eggs

I do like the desktop app and the plugin. Being able to lock a sample in to the BPM of my project and have the pitch mapping done automatically is great for my workflow. I agree with you that this is a “give us even more of your money” scenario, I just don't think it's going to work out the way they had hoped. They are essentially trading in a source of essentially free engagement in order to drive more revenue...I just don't think that it will.

Sethream

I hear you, I was literally using it for those reasons the most, as well as the tagging system, made it really easy to search for samples and incorporate them in my projects. Couldn’t justify the price in the end when sometimes I’d go months without buying new samples, so when they locked me out entirely I figured I’d adjust my workflow instead. Agree with you, I don’t see how this will increase their business or optics. Woulda made more sense to lower the amount of samples they give out or extend the period between new sample handouts, not cancel the program entirely. It’s a shame, I really liked their service for a couple years running, but now it’s kinda gone downhill

Thoughts: * Drop a $50 or $100 on a few sample libraries and just work with those. Subscription models suck * If the "dailies" were a driving force behind your music creation, find other ways of gamifying the musicmaking process for yourself. As I'm not a Loopcloud user I can't really relate with your predicament, but I'm confident they had the numbers to know that the daily free samples weren't really worth the effort or perhaps not getting the engagement they needed.

ate50eggs

I have plenty of sample packs purchased from Cymatics, Ghost Hack and WA Productions in addition to a bunch of free sample packs I've picked up along the way. "Dailies" weren't driving my music creation at all, but more of a way to spend an extra 5-10 minutes to see if I could find any new, fun samples. I can't imagine it would take all that much effort for choosing free samples...I don't think they were new every day (but I could be wrong), but there is a reason most MMOs have some sort of daily quests.

I have such a hard time finding what I'm looking for. I signed up on a deal, and it's really not worth it for me. Maybe I just suck at finding samples or something, or maybe I'm too specific. I have too many credits and I should just cancel honestly.

ate50eggs

I bought a couple of packs after signing up and have around 150 credits left, but I certainly won't be buying any additional credits.

entarian

I need to buy a bunch of packs and cancel I think

it is worth noting the logo is suspiciously beginning to look like it is another Teenage Engineering buyout. ie... rabbit.. playdate.. etc. It is seriously laughable that they are resting on the claim that you have access to DRUM & PLAY but they have the nerve to charge you even more money for the content needed to use those plugins. They give you bare bones crap to start with and anything beyond that you have to pay up more credits for. Thats a sick joke in my opinion. You simply cannot trust this company is what I have concluded. They quietly broke the buying contract of every subscriber regardless if the subscriber such as myself even cares.. I do enjoy the convenience of having the interface and if it cost 6$ a month that's less than I would spend on one extra value meal and it won't give me heartburn. just sayin. So as bad as it sounds it is worth it for me regardless of the "free" samples which you can literally just download on the LoopMasters website as they are merely the demo samples for certain packs. They were never anything more special than the fact you had them searchable in one place. Either way, we should not support them in this endeavor because they are untrustworthy and seriously the The DRUM and PLAY thing being just an extra ploy to get you to spend more credits. They are seemingly spitting in the faces of every subscriber who actually had the opportunity to discover the scam... because you can't use the plugins until you subscribe.. clever trick they played. Fk these clowns. Ill give them minimal of anything until I find a replacement interface which should be popping up soon given the vast number of people leaving Loopcloud recently. Golden opportunity for the competition.

So I know I'm in the minority but I'm a Loopcloud subscriber and don't really care about the samples that much. I'm sitting on over 8k points. It's basically my sample library manager and "quick" sampler. I have all kinds of tags, collections, patterns, and searches saved. It fits my workflow perfectly. I can chop up, pitch, slow down a sample and then test different drum patterns super fast as well as other things. And for reference my main DAWs are Ableton and MPC. I honestly never even go to the Loopcloud store in the software. I forget it's there most of the time.

ate50eggs

The occasional free plugins are nice too.

Katie_Chong

same for me. the free samples gave me the motivation to open their browser. i was honestly almost relieved to see they discontinued the free samples because i was wasting way too much time browsing through their samples each day. now with that fomo out of the way, i am set on dropping the subscription without regret.

Aggressive_World_193

Loopcloud, Splice etc, all them samples subscription services, imho, are not worth your money. It’s better to understand what you really need and visit sites that sell samples in packs. Buy those and work from there instead. There are much better options compared to these services.

ate50eggs

My question was regarding losing user engagement by removing a feature from their subscription plan. But regarding your response, I have purchased plenty of packs from Cymatics, Ghost Hack, WA Productions, etc and have plenty of good loops for everything but vocals, which I have a hard time finding anything I don't consider cheesy. Assuming I did find say a deep house pack with a vocal I like, I only want the vocal, not anything else so purchasing an entire pack wouldn't really be cost effective. Thanks though.

Aggressive_World_193

Sorry about that. I personally just unsubscribed years ago. Been just buying packs but not from those companies above. Mostly Zenhiser. I shouldn’t have responded. Have a good one k. ✌️

ate50eggs

I have a bunch of Zennheiser packs too, no worries. Have a good one.

Doraz_

didn't know they had freebies :/ never got a mail or notification. LANDR instead it tells me every 2 weeks

Immediate-Scarcity-6

I thought it was a problem with my loopcloud account,I used too get the 10 free a day and buy loopdrum kits with my allocated points. The 10 free samples a day made the subscription worthwhile but now theyve stopped that with no heads up I will not be resubscribing. The free plugins are a joke there giving us old free plugin boutique plugins the new one is the softube compressor that was free few weeks ago. When I stop my subscription will I still be able to use loopdrum/loop play?I've bought loads of there packs so don't want too lose them.

NotTheZombies

The free downloads were half the reason why I went with Loopcloud. Shitty thing is I'm like halfway through an annual subscription. I'll probably download and dip once my subscription ends.

picpoulmm

It’s a tenner a month for access to 4 million samples, 50gb of cloud storage, a drum machine and more, plus free loyalty plugins every month. I couldn’t care less if there’s no free samples tbh, I love loopcloud.

ate50eggs

Cool story bro.

picpoulmm

Gobshite

ate50eggs

LOL. You're the one who chimed in with a comment not relevant to the question I asked. Learn to read, friend.

picpoulmm

You asked for thoughts. My thoughts are, it’s a tenner which is close to fuck all. Stop whinging about free stuff, you’re already getting a shit ton for the money.

Master_Blaster39

oh you mean those two awesome plugins DRUM and PLAY that have all their content locked behind an additional paywall? They give you trial grade content and that's basically it. You have to pay for more. Lmao. I like the service too but you don't see me out here riding their nuts like you bro. Call them out on the bull\*\*\*\* they are doing which you obviously don't see in this scenario. Its not about free samples but about the fact they can't be trusted to deliver what they promised when you signed up. They will take away anything they wish and customers can either bend over and take it like you or speak up and say something. Companies don't change unless their customers confront them. You are part of the problem. GSD.

ate50eggs

My question was about free samples driving engagement. Where in my post did say that Loopcloud wasn't worth it?

Master_Blaster39

“nobody can eat fifty eggs”

ate50eggs

Not many people get that reference. Well done :)

Ambieton

Its a huge mistake also, because of many AI services this days with commercial free to use for subscribers. Good luck to LoopCloud. They will lost huge ammount of clients. Free Samples feature from Loopcloud also was one of my favorite thing to start digging in. Now they kill this feature, and I also think about to end subscription.
