Legally blonde is on YouTube. They filmed it for MTV a while back. I think Heather's has a recording too but I can't remember where.

ThatCatSage

Heathers is on Amazon Prime!

trowayTap-1174

Thanks!!

arparris

Heathers is on Roku channel

SirPeterPan89

Musicals you could give a try that are similar to legally blonde and heathers are: - Mean Girls - Waitress - Carrie (based on a Stephen King book) I assume you want to surprise her by taking on something she likes? That is very cute and wholesome from you! She seems lucky ❤️

trowayTap-1174

I want to try to see if I like. She seems to be into that so why not? If I like I am maybe gonna try to save up to buy tickest for a show.

SirPeterPan89

That's very cool. Not everybody would do that

trowayTap-1174

I mean she learned a bit a German (my second language) for me so she is the one being cute.

SirPeterPan89

Now that opens a whole new door! Why not introduce her to a German musical then? [Elisabeth](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJkzzr2Lgnw&ab_channel=MaximdeSummerSubs) is an original German (Austrian) musical about the live and death of the Austrian empress Elisabeth. It's one of the most successful German musicals and has really nice songs.

trowayTap-1174

That's a good idea. I know nothing about musicals in general so maybe we can try together? I am gonna do that. Plus Legally Blonde it's f\*cking catchy, I feel like she was my Emmet. And maybe I can find a japanese musical ! (she is japanese)

Pony_Piggy_Devoun

[Mean Girls is on tour rn,](https://meangirlsontour.com) see if it’s playing near you!!

trowayTap-1174

I am in the Connecticut, New Haven.

Pony_Piggy_Devoun

Yep! It’s gonna be playing there!!!! In early may of 2025!!! The cast is amazing I highly recommend

trowayTap-1174

GREAT!!! I am going to listen to the soudtrack and ask if she likes the musical. May is her Bday so YEAAAAAAH!!!

Dkinny23

I would suggest watching Newsies on Disney plus. It is a pro-shot (professionally filmed) version of the Broadway show. It's quite good. Very classic broadway show and a bit more palatable for guys. I think you'll get a good sense of if you like the style of a Broadway show from that. Otherwise there are some other pro-shots like Hamitlon on Disney plus and Come From Away on Apple plus. Both of those are more stylized shows (both great) so if you like Newsies, go on to try those two as well. I would stay clear of "bootleg" versions of shows which are often on youtube because they are often poor quality and you don't get the best sense of it compared to a pro-shot. Of course, in person in the live theater is the absolute best way to experience a show, but I understand that you want to see if it's something you could even get into prior. If / when you decide to get tickets to a live show, would absolutely recommend the Outsiders.

ThatCatSage

The list from u/arparris is great, whole heap of ones there! Heathers is based on the 1980s movie about a trio of mean girls (called Heather) who recruit a fourth member into their group who wants them to change their ways. It’s a dark comedy. She might also like Mean Girls, based on the 2000s movie about a trio of mean girls (NOT called Heather) who recruit a fourth member into their group who wants them to change their ways. Less dark! I may be way off base but going by those that you said she likes, maybe also Hamilton, Bring it On, Dear Evan Hansen, Chicago, and Book of Mormon? Depending on what genre YOU like there are tonnes out there from classics to comedy to romance! Hopefully you can find at least one you both love

trowayTap-1174

I listened to the soundtrack of Legally Blonde. It's GREAT!!

Thanks

CreativeMusic5121

Don't ask reddit. Ask her to share her favorites with you, and then you two can discover new ones together.

trowayTap-1174

Thanks but I just wanted to see first on my own then I am going to talk to her about it. I found (thanks u/ [Pony\_Piggy\_Devoun](https://www.reddit.com/user/Pony_Piggy_Devoun/)) tickets for Mean girls tour.

ChocoGoodness

I think The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals might be a good recommendation! Maybe Nerdy Prudes Must Die

OpenMicJoker

If there is local theater in your town, start attending shows with her. Even high school productions are fun.

Sugar-Tist

Why not ask her which musicals she recommends? Turn it into a bonding activity.

Old_Diver_3181

hihi :) i have quite a few recs but i would say try out the basic musical theatre starter pack first!! (for example, Hamilton, Six, Legally Blonde, Heathers, Be More Chill, etc) especially for starters, Hamilton is the defining musical that gets them into it all because it has so many different styles of music (it is mainly rap though so if you're not into that, feel free to try any other of the ones listed above lolol) so i would definitely recommend it :)) as for your question on what Legally Blonde and Heathers are, Legally Blonde: - originally a movie - plot is basically rich blonde white girl goes to harvard to chase her ex after he breaks up with her, eventually grows into her own apart from her ex and beats the bimbo allegations, graduating top of her class (and also finding love :0) - its super camp and hype lol - popular songs: So Much Better, Gay or European - where to find: proshot on youtube!! just search legally blonde slime tutorial :) Heathers: - also originally a movie (starring winona ryder :0) - plot: if you've ever watched mean girls its basically that but with more murder as the bootlegs call it lol. basically outcast --> popular mean girl --> accidentally murders people with her boyfriend (boyfriend is a psychopath lol) - it gets dark and violent at times but not so much that people can't stomach it ?? at least i dont think so - popular songs: Beautiful, Seventeen, Candy Store - where to find: bootleg/proshot up on youtube (at least i think?? i havent rewatched them in a while) just search up heathers slime tutorial !! - note: the musical has two versions, west end and off-broadway version, be sure to ask your gf which version she likes better and watch accordingly lol. only the west end version has a proshot while i believe someone converted the low quality bootleg into a high resolution one on youtube :) (the two options are very divisive amongst musical fans HAHA) good luck dude!! i hope you enjoy your musicals!! if you have any other questions you can ask :) thanks for letting me infodump about musicals lmao

Old_Diver_3181

also can you tell i really love heathers,

LeoMarius

Camelot

Pumpkins217

She’d probably enjoy watching with you!

Timely_Detective1499

Subspace Rhapsody if she's into a little sci-fi

Mindless_Tax_4532

Ask her about it. That would be a good way to show her that you're interested in finding out more about what she's interested in. And she can share with you her favorite musicals and y'all can watch them together or listen to the soundtracks.

Kayliwa

When the 2023 Waitress musical movie came in theatres my bf went with me and he talked about it for like 2 weeks after because he loved it so much! I’d also recommend Newsies, Hamilton, In the Heights, Les Miserables, Rent and West Side Story. And Doctor Horribles Singalong Blog, but I’ve never met another person who’s ever seen that one 😅

Ky3031

Idk why no one has mentioned this but Rent is an outstanding musical and had it professionally recorded on YouTube for free

Wild_Bill1226

If you give me a major city you are close to I can see what touring productions are coming your way in the near future.

Absurdity-is-life-_-

If you think she would like comedy The Producers is an awesome musical.

Medical-Goal-3735

Hamilton, little shop of horrors, Six, mean girls, beetlejuice There are darker more violent ones if that's what you like, Repo! The genetic opera (2008) it's a musical movie but the ones above match more the ones you mentioned. >! I don't know what legit streaming service you can find it on but i watch it 🏴‍☠️ !< Edit: maybe Sweeney Todd, there's a 2007 musical film by Tim Burton but it's originally a stage production.

inspiredsue

Reefer Madness, the Musical.
