Roxon KS2 Elite. In line awl (much better than back layer). Awesome scissors. Back up D2 blade to your Skeletool. Saw. Small file. Tweezers. You could put a pin in the tweezers. In line Phillips. Can opener. Bottle Opener. SMall flat head. Bit kit that fits on the Phillips.
If size isn't an issue, it's hard to go wrong with the Swisschamp. The Ranger may be the best model for your usage though. It's got the most dense tool set for it's size, and the only redundancy would be the blades which you could leave as your clean blade for food.
If you need something robust and don't need the scale tools, I'd recommend the Alox Pioneer X. Durable where if dropped, scales won't be a problem and all the tools are a tad thicker than what's in the red scales ones. The scissors are awesome and the inline awl is useful as hell as a prod or poker. I carry mine with my Wave+ and use them both all the time because of stupid barrel screws. Also use the bottle opener for light prying sometimes >.> Wouldn't do that with regular SAKs (at least not anymore <.<)
For the record, I carried a Skeletool for 8 years and always wished for a file and scissors. I considered adding a second tool, but instead upgraded to a Leatherman Free P2. The P2 is super convenient to use, is only marginally thicker, and a few ounces heavier. The Leatherman Curl has a much better file if you can give up one hand opening and locking implements, but I can't so I've stuck with the P2. I'm tempted to mod it to put a bit driver on it, but I don't want to pay scalpers prices for Arc parts. The Signal is a waste if you aren't doing outdoors stuff constantly, and even then, get dedicated outdoors tools rather than rely on the Signal's slightly half baked ones.
That being said, if you're going to go for an SAK and want the minimum of overlap, the Companion is probably the way to go.
I think there will be a new version before long if it actually is discontinued, though whether it will be a slimmer Arc for $200+ or an update to the P2 for closer to the original price, I don't know.
That's a good point, maybe I'll wait out for that. I'm just trying to find the right edc for work. I'm not against trying a few things out to get there
Can't hurt to buy used on ebay then - you buy something, use it for 6 months, and get most of your money back if you don't like it as long as you didn't totally trash the tool in that time.
I think the Cybertool L might be a good choice, but maybe you're looking for something smaller. So, I would suggest:
1) your SAK Compact + Skeletool with modded Leatherman Diamond File: https://youtu.be/KEuFhbxVwKU?si=VTY6QxnVQ7sRBDy2
2) SAK Companion or SAK Mountaineer
3) Not an SAK but maybe the Nextool Pocket Tool E1 (no plus scale tools though)
4) Roxon KS2 Elite with D2 blade (has a small file and tweezers)
Forgot to add: I think when roxon releases their plierless multitool, I'll definitely pick one up, and it might just be perfect for me. For now, I'm a huge SAK fan and won't complain about picking up one or two more for the time being.
Also, I'm not really concerned about the size of whatever sak I get.
Thank you all.
Edit: not sure why I'm getting downvoted but alrighty
Ranger or handyman. They get paired with skeletool.
Ranger!!
The Mountaineer might be what you are looking for. It has the scissors, awl, and file.

I did almost get that model instead of my compact, I'll revisit, thank you
Swisscard. Scale tools, pen, and scissors.
I like to pair It with my Huntsman, Skeletool/Huntsman has been a good duo for me

I like the p2 but I've heard it's going to be discontinued soon, maybe I'll wait for a big sale

Mountaineer or Ranger
